BT Infinity availability and enablement

Hello
we are buying a new built house and we are unable to find out any information about infinity availability. The exchange (Rothley) is accepting orders!!!! and BT customer service cannot help.
We don't have a telephone number yet so we are checking with the postcode.
The next road is served by another cabinet and gets FTTC but slow.
Please help.
Very frustrated now!!!!

Hi ykere,
Have you tried the address of the new build on the BT Wholesale Broadband Availability checker here: http://dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/ADSLChecker.AddressOutput
If there is no mention of WBC FTTC when checking the BT Wholesale Database then unfortunately it looks like your cabinet isn't currently in Openreach's fibre broadband rollout plan.
As it is a new build then probably the best way is to ask other residence on your street. This will also give you an idea if it is available to your street.
Click here to see what your looking for in the BT Wholesale Database
The Openreach Superfast Fibre Broadband rollout is still in it's early stages and the plans are always being added too.
So your cabinet may be upgraded in the future, though there is no public time scale on when that will be.
Please bear in mind that in some cases it may not be possible to provide FTTC broadband in areas due to:
• Your line may be too far from the local street cabinet to have a stable FTTC broadband service such as BT Infinity service.
• Your local street cabinet may not be suitable for fibre optic cables.
• We haven't yet got the council's planning permission to do the necessary work at your local street cabinet.
• Your home may not be suitable for fibre optic cables.
• Your landlord may not have agreed to the fibre infrastructure being provided in your building (for example if you live in a flat).
• There isn't a adequate power supply
• Health and safety issues
• No ducting or inadequate ducting
• It may not be financially viable for Openreach to upgrade your pcp (cabinet) with a DSLAM (FTTC) cabinet.
plus lots more.
The build of the fibre broadband infrastructure in the area isn't always easy and can be very complex.
Also look out for these FTTC Cabinets on/near your street/area. If you see one near your old cabinet (pcp) then you maybe in luck for Fibre broadband.
Unfortunately BT Retail (a communication provider/ISP who operates this forum) does not have much say as to when and if you will be able to get FTTC or FTTP/H based broadband such as BT Infinity.
You can register your interest for Fibre Broadband such as BT Infinity by going to http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/expression-gen.aspx
You can keep checking the BT Wholesale Database and BT Infinity website for the most upto date information as these are updated regularly.
The openreach When and Where website is: http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/where-and-when/
**The Fibre-Optic Broadband Rollout is being managed and done by Openreach for all communication providers/ISPs.
BT Retail (a communication provider/ISP) has nothing to do with the rollout of fibre broadband.**
Hope that helps,
Cheers

  • Fibre and infinity available from my cabinet for n...

Hi, first post as really not sure what to do, and feeling pretty desperate about this fibre/infinity issue.....
Bought new house a week ago. The regular ADSL broadband in my new area is and virtually useless at less than 1Mb, all searches I did with service providers (BT, Plusnet, Talk Talk, Sky and EE) all said, (when entering my address details) that Fibre broadband is not available at my address.
My first call to BT had them tell me, they weren't sure fibre was installed in my cabinet, Plusnet the same, but neighbours say it is as they get it in my street.
BT retail advised me all the cabinets are run and administered by Openreach the subsidiary of BT (who will not talk to retail customers - they will only talk to services providers like BT retail etc). EE did go further and told me my cabinet was number 10 and they forwarded me to the BT wholesale site (btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html) which on entering my address says on Exchange ETWALL is served by Cabinet 10....and.... FTTC is currently not available on this cabinet due to following reasons:- Sorry your cabinet is temporarily unavailable, capacity will be restored as soon as possible.
From reading other Fibre related forums on here, I realised myself that Fibre connections per cabinet are limited, and a bit like when a car park is full, you cant get in until someone else comes out, unless they expand the number of connections available. So I ws a little upset that 2 calls to BT resulted in them telling me, it wasnt on in my cabinet which is seemigly incorrect. It ended with BT retail saying its fault of Openreach and there's nothing we can do. I can only assume the BT advisor was making assumptions.
I deduced myself, from the fact neighbours in my street have it, it probably is available in theory but as the regular broadband is unusable, everyone has fibre, the number of connections is probably full and nobody else whose lines are connected to cabinet 10 in my area can get it any longer.
My professional life relies on a semi reasonable connection, and my wife who is from abroad completely relies on it for her online business nd to communicate to family. So I was checking the ADSL checker literally 10 times a day from Thursday, and on Saturday night about 11pm, Eureka it suddenly said up to 76mb Fibre is available at my property and now every retail service provider (whose sites first action it seems, when you try and book fibre, is always to scan and check that its available from Openreach) they all now allowed me to go ahead and order it. I made a booking for a new line and Fibre, booked installation date of Wed 29th Oct, and then lo and behold, this morning I get a message to say, Fibre is again unavailable at my address (served by cabinet 10) I checked the BT wholesale site and all the other service providers and yes its back as it was before, saying fibre is not available. It definitely was available Saturday night at 11pm and showing available on Sunday afternoon at 2pm, but before my appointment could be confirmed, it seems Openreach have shut the door again and cancelled my order. To say i'm crestfallen is an understatement. All the service providers advertised the service as available and after I booked almost 24 hours later it still was, another 12 hours later its not and I'm cancelled and without any connection or any news as to when or even if one may become available. Right now I'd pay literally anything for Fibre.
Today Ive made numerous calls to BT retail and its the same story, they say Openreach wont tell them reasons or specifics about a cabinet and there's "nothing we can do" and even when i finally got through to BT wholesale this afternoon and begged them to at least just confirm its because of over capacity at cabinet 10, they refused to talk to me and said I must contact service provider.
I'm truly at my wits end, my wife today is saying she cant move in as there is no guarantee we can ever get connected, her business interests will be ruined and she will be cut off from relatives in Russia. This evening I pleaded with BT if there is over capacity is there a waiting list or anything at all I can do to be considered or to get any idea, if someone else leaves i can get a place in a queue if a slot becomes available, they said again "there's nothing we can do, its openreach and they wont tell us why".
Even 3G is pretty rubbish, and certainly wont run streaming TV. It seems I'm trapped all around those who are able to be a part of the 21st century, and even when availability is shown to me, its soon taken away. The worse part is having no cllear idea of when if ever I may be considered to get Fibre. Ive reluctantly cancelled my current phone with BT as its pointless transferring it with no useable BT interent services. i'm ready to spend whatever every month, if there is ever any room at the Inn.
Is this normal protocol, does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do, I'm desperate.
    thanks for reading

thx again shirts, yes i had seen that its prety inconclusive. its there but you may or may not get it!

    – Enable high availability and redundancy for Cisco WAAS appliances in data centers.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
You can serially cluster two WAE devices with the Cisco WAE Inline  Network Adapter installed to provide higher availability in the data  center if a device fails. If the current optimizing device fails, the  inline group shuts down, or the device becomes the overloaded, the  second WAE device in the cluster provides the optimization services.  Deploying WAE devices in a serial inline cluster for scaling or load  balancing is not supported.

It had been working on my computer through the different versions of IE for years. I then noticed a few days ago that numerous reliable sites told me to install Flash. I confirmed that it was installed and enabled but all attempts to reinstall resulted in the same condition; Installed under "Programs" ans enabled under "Manage Add-ons". However I still couldn't get it running and Adobe's "Check Now" site showed it NOT installed or enabled. The only thing I can think of that might have had an effect was that I returned to IE10 recently after having some problems with IE11.

  • Infinity available on my Exchange but not on my st...

Just wondering if someone can explain what's going on here.  I'm on the Haslington exchange, which has now been enabled.  There are 3 cabinets all within 800m of my house that have been upgraded, and have whirring equipment in them so they would all appear to be active.  I know which cabinet I am on as a recently retired Openreach engineer lives on the next street along, and has told me which one my line is connected to which is one that is ~650m from my house.  It's also the same one he is on and the tracker will allow him to order at 37 meg, he is a little closer to the cabinet than me.
I've been checking the BT Infinity checker for a while and it's always said 'Infinity is not due to be rolled out in your area' under my phone number.  A while back I was able to search by post code, and it said something like 'Good news, Infinity is coming to your area' but I can't seem to find that link anymore?
Now as I know the cabinet I was on was upgraded a few months ago I called BT last month who checked, and told me there was an error in the tracker and that I would definitely be able to order Infinity at my house and that the current enablement date was 31 March though this was subject to change.
I've just learned that some of my neighbours in surrounding streets have been able to order Infinity, and have estimated download speeds of 30-40 meg, so today I called BT and asked if I could order.
I was first of all told that Infinity is not available in my area and my exchange probably has not been enabled.  I questioned this as I know I am on the Haslington exchange, I was then told that I can't be on the Haslington exchange.  I then politely asked to speak to a supervisor.  I was then fogged off again with various excuses from me being directly connected to the exchange (which I am most definitely not) to I was on a different exchange.
I then recapped to this supervisor on what I already knew about my line, he then went away for a few minutes and came back and said that he could get me on a trial, which is part fibre but not at the full speed.  He couldn't really explain any more but said his info was showing that I would get download speeds of around 10-12 meg, and up of 4-5 meg.
I've actually gone for this option as I can upgrade to Infinity if and when and I am fed up of ADSL2....my line from the exchange is about 2.5k I believe.  But how come people the same distance from the cab as me can order Infinity at 30-40 meg, yet I can only get this 'trial' of 10-12 meg?  And exactly what is this trial called?  I have tried searching the net but unable to come up with any results???

I live 50m from the nearest cabnet, within a 600m circle there is 6 cabnets. Sad thing is i am not being enabled for infinity, everything around us is being upgraded except our road for some odd reason. I had a chat with an openreach eingineer working on one of the cabnets, he said they finished upgrading the designated cabnets. I asked about my road he had a quick look at my address and said there was no plan for that cabnet. Soo upset...
Just to show you guys how close, the cabnet will be staring me in the face
    -Red arrow is me
-Green box with black line is infinity cabnets
    -Green line infinity enabled roads
-Black box is the cabnet we are on
    -Red no infinity
Looks like my only hope is if for some reason BT decide to deploy FTTP which is highly unlikely. Dont blame BT's choice, upgrade the cabnets with most people. Our cabnet has fraction of the people compared to the other cabnet which has 3 estates connected to it.

Is there an external camera for ipad1 available and does it work with 4.3.5? Really hoping to get facetime going on my ipad

AFAIK, no one makes an add on camera for the iPad1.  If selling your iPad1 and buying an iPad2 is out, then you can use Skype on the iPad1.  Although the other person won't see you, the iPad1 will receive Skype video so you can see them, if they enable their video.

  • BT Infinity Availability

    Hi All,
So im here for some advice. The other day i rang BT as the broadband im with at the moment is only 11mb but get about 6mb. Have many users and gaming etc.
So the problem i face is that everyone else on my road has BT infinity available to them. The guy i spoke to was very nice and advised me that i will get it at some time. But theres nothing on the system to say when as its contracted out by BT Openreach.
He said that we could connect to a different cabinet than the neighbours.
So with that i went online and checked out the people across the road and they can as well.
Red - Can get BT Infinity
Blue - 5 Houses (one of which is mine) Cant
Black - The road that we are on
All of last year Bt were working around the whole estate.
2 Years ago we tried to get Virgin Fibre Optic, but their contractors "apparantly" missed installing for the 5 houses and they refused to install it as it would be to costly.
I just would like to know from someone who works for BT or someone at least that i will get Fibre optic.

    Hi, visit this link here.
Enter your phone number and proceed.
At the top you will see your Exchange, Phone Number and Cabinet number. If it doesn't mention cabinet that means you are connected directly to the exchange. Below you will have a grid area of the services that are currently available to you are will be in the future at some point. You are looking for WBC FTTC, it will give you the estimated speeds to your home from the cabinet. It will also give you a date which should be the latest you will get it.
If it doesn't have WBC FTTC that means Openreach currently have no plans to upgrade your cabinet.

  • Confusion at BT re Infinity availability

Ive been following the Infinity roll out and have registered interest for a while. Infinity is in my area but I know my line has not been able to get connected, and I understand the various reasons given. Last week however I got a letter in the post from BT giving me the information I've been waiting for that Infinity is now available and to call a number to get connected. Called the number to be told its not available. Unhelpful BT guy on the end of the phone said BT ofetn do this but said that it probably meant my line would be able to connect in a week or two and that I should check on-line. Checked online again and the 'checker' says not expected in my area within the next 6 months.
So one company, three widly different estimates of availability for the one phone line. Estimates range from:
"its available now, call to get connected"
"it not available but should be in a couple of weeks"
"its not available within 6 months, click to register interest".......
So which one is right? Very poor customer communication.

The BT Wholesale Checker has been a bit of a joke, but thats what sales use to ascertain whether you can get it.
I honestly don`t know what the answer is.
I am very close to my Cabinet being ready, and have been using the checker regularly for many months. It used to say that I should get fibre at X speed for months, then all of a sudden (after the Cabinet was installed) all it showed was that there would be no fibre and I was lucky to be able to get 1mb speeds on ADSL. This went on for about 2 months, then all of a sudden the checker again shows Fibre should be available soon from my cabinet.
    Its hit and miss.

I have my client machines set to pull updates from the SUS (confirmed by the server name in the software update title bar), but every time I run it, it says no updates are available. • PXI-6534, Load onboard memory and enable looping

I would like to program the PXI-6534 from a Linux application. I can talk to the card and set the registers. However, the Hardware DDK only contains information on the PXI-6533 (not the 6534), and there are two differences.
The PXI-6534 has onboard memory, and a onboard looping mode that I need to use. The register map for the 6533 (from the DDK) does not include any information about these features (because they don't exist on the 6533).
I found information on how to do it from a windows platform using NI-DAQ, but I need to do it from Linux. I have a driver, but need information on what registers to talk to and their formats.
    1. How do I load the PXI-6534 onboard memory and enable it (what registers and f
    ormats do I use)?
    2. How do I enable the PXI-6534 onboard memory looping mode (what registers and formats do I use)?
    Thanks in advance !

Please contact your local field sales representative to discuss your application and possible Linux solutions using the 6534 card. Programming the 6534 card is considerably more complex than the 6533 and NI currently does not have register level programming information available for this card.

  • Lync users show as available and not active on an IM device - instead of away

    Hi all
I've been twisting my head around this issue, and found little information on the issue online. I have a Lync 2013 installation migrated from LCS2005 via OCS2007R2 and finally Lync2010 before final migration. The setup is Lync std with enterprise Voice,
1 x FE server, 1 x Mediation, 1 x Edge in main site, 1 x FE in 7 other sites. All servers are patched with latest pathces, and this error has been wth us through several upgrades.
    This is the error:
A user is logged on Lync, and when he locks his computer - the Lync user is still available (Green - like the Hulk) - but there's a red exclamation mark saying that the user is not active on an IM device. If you try to send an IM to the user it's not delivered.
I've logged on to the computer of one of the affected users, with my test user accounts, and that works all fine. Also logged on my computer with one of the affected users accounts, and the error is present there aswell - so we can rule out any client software
    issue.
Also, most of the users are only logged on to the work PC, no other devices. I'm logged on to a PC, iPad and Smartphone - no issues.
I've tried disabling and enabling users - same error when they're reconnecting to Lync
Tried deleting the sip:[email protected] folder locally. Same error
Nothing stated in Monitoring reports, nothing in event logs - neither on server, nor client.
Have logs from a logon session locally, and from server - but find nothing really exciting, only som BENOTIFY logs, containing some LEGACY Category ---- which really means nothing to me

    Hi,
From your description above, it can be an issue with Lync account.
So please check if the issued Lync accounts in the same pool with other well-worked Lync accounts. You can compare the Lync account attributes in AD.
Also please double check if there is any anti-virus software on any servers running Lync. If yes, please make sure the exclude specific processes and directories for each Lync Server 2013 server
or server role on which you run an antivirus scanner.

  • JavaCard availability and price

    Hi all,
JavaCard technology is successfull enough to spend time to develop professional projects, but there are card availability problems.
Gemplus - JavaCard is double price of normal processor cards, and many other smart card manufacturers
do not want to produce Java enabled cards.
So when we plan for a project,
we have to plan for the Smart Card availability and
    the unit price.
I need an advice on buying JavaCard,
    where to find cheaper? etc.

My advice is to shop around. I do know that Gemplu$ does have a "Three-dollar card" but it doesn't appear for resale. Only for preferred Visa vendors.
Also evaluate the size of the card you want to use. Today, the popular 32k cards are expensive. Maybe your solution could work fine with 16k cards, or even the 8k cards.

A friend of mine asked me to look at his T430 because it wasn't booting.  Basically as soon as you plug the AC adapter in the CPU fan turns on (sounds like full speed) and the power button pulses / flashes (once every 2 seconds fading in and out).
