BT Infinity Connection Issue.

This morning I cannot load pages using my internet connection. All blue lights on HH3 and Green lights on VDSL Modem are on and correct. This issue is also occurs when using Ethernet connection. I have reset/restored router numerous occasions but still the problem persists.
I am currently using the BTWIFI/Openzone (with Username/Password) connection from router so have some connection.
My phone line is working and noise free.
Could this be a DNS problem?

Yes, as long as you're using yours not a neighbours
Something odd there. You may want to contact the mods ... http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4951
One more thing you could try is a direct PPPOE connection from your PC to the modem, instead of the homehub.
Use userid [email protected] and password BT.
This will rule out the Homehub as a problem.

  • New Infinity connect issues - please help

We are having ongoing issues with getting BT infinity installed to our new house.  I really need someone that can actually help us find out what is wrong and how we can resolve the issues we are having.
It all started a few months ago when we ordered BT infinity and a new phone line to our new Chapel conversion house.
Initially there were some issues with the engineer being unable to get the phone line to the house. After numerous phone calls and several engineers visits, we these have now been resolved and we do have a working telephone.
The problem seems to be with the Infinity. Nobody can give me an answer as to why we have not yet got a connection.
When the phone engineer visited he said that he would try and connect the Infinity in the green box. – When he went to do this he tried to obtain our patching information and was informed that there was no live order for infinity on our number… As there was nothing more he could do he left.
We then checked with BT and they confirmed that we do have an order for infinity and that there was a problem that needed and engineer to look at. (We have a box and are paying for the service already…
We were told last week that an engineer was going to attend on Monday 13th Jan and that we definitely would have a connection by last Monday at the latest… - no engineer attended despite my wife spending her 3rd day in the house waiting for an engineer!
She phone BT on Tuesday and was told that there was a problem and she would be contacted by Thursday Morning at the latest. – Needless to say , No phone call!!
We really need to sort this connection out.  Is there anyone who can take this and run with it until it’s sorted? – We are getting nowhere talking to random individuals who have no real history of our connection history.
    Please Help!

  • BT Infinity Connection Issue (On Going)

Hi, i've been having problems with my connection over the past 2 weeks and since it seems that none of the people i talk to have any idea what's going on, i thought that i would post my issue on here and see if any one can help. I will try to keep this post up to date with any developments, and i will try to respond promptly to any questions.
For a brief summery, see Short story. For more detail, see Long story.

    ===Long Story===
    ================
On the 25th of January i had BT Infinity installed and was amazed when my download speed shot up to 38MB (from 5), and my upload was a staggering 9 MB (from 0.7). As a gamer, this was at the time fantastic.
However, on Wensday the 7th of March, i came home from Uni to find that my friend's voices on Skype sound all distorted. I decide to do a speed test, which reveals that the speed had dropped down to 3MB download, but the upload was still 8MB. I thought that this was a glitch, so i ran the BT Speedtester and restarted the router and modem etc. No change. Over the next few days, the speed fluxuated between 0-7MB down and 5-8MB up.
Naturally, i contacted BT, who after some convincing, booked an appointment for an Openreach engineer to come over on Tuesday the 13th. The engineer who turned up tested the line and after finding nothing wrong, changed both the router and the modem twice. As baffeled as me, the engineer told me to contact BT again as he was convinced it was something on their end. After 2 hours on the phone (an hour and a half of that on hold), i was told the problem was resolved and all i had to do was restart my router and modem.
I did so gladly, only to find no change in the speed, and another complication. After the problem was "fixed" my HH3 would lose connection every 2 hours, but now, it loses conneciton every 3-5 minutes, 24/7.
However, the Modem doesn't. It's only the broadband light on the HH3 that changes, the green DSL light on the modem stays on. After another lenghty conversation (thank god i dont have to play for these calls) the guy in India was certian it was a line issue, and dispatched another engineer on Thursday the 15th.
The second engineer, who i knew as he was a frind of my father, told me that he had been sent out on a "boost job", whatever that means. Basically, he told me that if he isnt supposed to leave until the problem is resolved. So, after 3 hours of changing routers and banging our heads against the wall with BT, he got them to do a lift and shift.
    No change.
Completely stumped and at 6 pm (2 hours after the engineer was supposed to finish work) i let him go home, since there was clearly nothing he could do.
After another 2 hours on the phone with BT, i now have my own number that i can call BT on that connects me to a manager who has "taken over" the problem. He has dispatched another engineer for Tuesday to 20th to do "triage testing". Mean while, i can't do any work for Uni at home, play any games or even browse the internet.

Sorry, that was hilarious. I pressed the reply button and the page came up saying that my router had lost connection.
    Anyway,
The speed tests i did with the BT Speedtester told me about the rediculas low speeds, but it didn't ask me do do anything further. However, the Speedtester hasn't worked for me since Friday e.g.
    "Test Error
The Performance Tester is currently unable to run a speed test for your broadband connection. Please try again shortly, however if this problem persists, raise the issue with your service provider."
What is a tap3 test? This is the first time i've heard of this.
I have not tried bypassing the Home Hub either. I've been a good boy and only done what BT has told me to.
Do you think that it could help?

  • BT Infinity Connection Issue/ frequent ping latenc...

Hi. I'm getting frequent latency over past few month. had Already spoken to agencies about the issue, but no reslovation appeared. So, hopefully, I can get some answer here. Btw, I already tried to switch between channels, reset to factory setting, turn off 5Ghz, it still doesn't work.
The ping latency happen randomly almost everyday in certain times of a day, last around 10 minutes. I got some proves showing the situation exactly at that time.

Can you run this checker and post back a screen shot of the results
    http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome
and use this speed tester then carry out the further diagnostics and post back a screen shot of all the results including your IP profile for up and down. This test must be done with a wired connection.

  • BT Infinity bill / connection issue

Our infinity connection was cut off yesterday because of a bill issue but was paid online the same day. It is now more than 24 hours since and it is still disconnected. According to our bt account page it has been resolved and is now working but that is NOT the case. We have tried ringing the bt helpline twice, both yesterday and today but both times we have been on hold for more than 2 hours with no success. Can somebody please tell me what is going on?

like i posted it sounds like the payment has not yet cleared the banking system it can sometimes take up to 3 working days

  • BT Infinity HTTPS connection issues- anyone else?

    Hi all.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have been having considerable problems with HTTPS sites over the past few months - timing out, unable to make payments online with ClickSafe - Lloyds Bank, Natwest, NEXT, National Lottery. Some HTTPS sites load eventually but usually very very slowly or time out.
This issue is across all my devices - Macbook Pro, iPad Air, Samsung Tablet, Windows 8 Laptop, x3 iPhone 5.
If I switch WiFi off on my iPhone I can make payments over the mobile phone network fine but as soon as I switch WiFi on the problems occur again. I took my Laptop to a friends house and used their TalkTalk Broadband and no issues, all worked fine.
I have had 2 HH4 and now a HH5 and the problem still occurs.
I have Changed numerous settings, undertaken numerous reboots and complete resets to no avail.
I have enabled firewalls and disabled firewalls, changed MTU and numerous other possible fixes, but again none have worked.
I have paid for BT Tech Expert support who have been very helpful  and always called back when they have said they would but they do not know what the problem is and are still working on it. Next call on Monday night.
I found this very long thread starting in 2011 and ending in February 2013, where BT customers were experiencing the exact same problems in the South West of England and it turned out to be a network issue that was resolved but it does not explain how it was resolved!
    https://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Infinity-Speed-Connection/BT-Infinity-and-https-connection-issues/td-...
I am in Newcastle upon Tyne and would be grateful if anyone could let me know if they are having the similar problems?
    Thanks for your help.

To try changing DNS server on your Windows 8 laptop, see this Microsoft note.
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki/windows8_1-networking/how-to-change-ipv4-dns-server-...
You can use 8.8.8.8 as they suggest, as that is Google public DNS.
If that fixes the problem on the laptop, it would point to a problem with BTs DNS servers.

  • BT Infinity Connection Dropping but BT refuse to a...

    Hi,
So in September we got BT Infinity. It was a hassle and handled terribly by BT customer service but we eventually got it. It's been working fine for around five months but within the last few weeks we have been having connection issues.
Over Easter I have spent over 10 hours on the phone to BT via my landline and mobile trying to get a solution, but all I have got is a repeated denial of my problems.
On the 27th March I called BT to report that our connection had been repeatedly dropping over the past few weeks and a fault was opened. I was told I would be updated but no-one called back despite promises they would do.
I called BT on the 28th March to follow up my issues but was met with an advisor who lacked knowledge in the issue and simply told me to continue monitoring my connection.
I called BT on the 3rd April as there had been no improvement in my connection, which is dropping multiple times per day, and on this day 7 times. After going through the same repetitive questioning session about how I connect to the internet, a deep line test was run, and it was decisively concluded that there was a fault with the line within BT's retail servers. I was told this would be followed up and promised a call back on the 4th April.
After I had not received a call back on the 4th April within the time allocated to me, I called BT where I was met with an awfully rude woman who had no interest in helping me and went on to suggest what I was saying was an outright lie and she categorically stated there had been no call back booked despite me having the text in front of me which confirmed it.
After being told to 'continue monitoring my line', a slightly repetitive phrase favoured by BT Customer Service, I called back as instructed on the 8th April. Again, I went through a repetitive process before finally making some sort of progress and being sent a new home hub.
My new home hub arrived on the 11th April and made no difference to my problem. I therefore called BT and spoke to an advisor who told me he could only assume the Home Hub was sent in error, as he was absolutely adamant it would make absolutely no difference to my situation. I was told to 'continue monitoring my connection' over the next few days but before he ended the call I asked him a number of questions, none of which were adequately answered.
Why is our connection dropping? Rather than giving me an explanation as to why it is dropping, he told me that we are lucky it only drops a few times a day! He said 'everyone in the world suffers from a connection which drops multiple times per day' and that 'there is absolutely nothing we can do because there is no problem'. He told me about rate-adaptive lines, which according to him 'are used by every household in the world' and that these lines 'inevitably drop out up to five times a day, which is normal and acceptable'.
So how many times can it drop before it's considered a fault? The basic answer I received is that there is no limit! It doesn't matter how many times it drops, it absolutely normal! Only if it drops '20-30+ times per day' is it considered a problem worth solving to BT.
Why do you never call back (in particular, why did no-one call back on the 4th April, and why did an advisor accuse me of lying about the call back)? They said that when the issue is escalated from Level 1 to Level 2, it is impossible to see any contact between the customer and Level 1, so when the call back wasn't arranged as it should've been, there was no way BT could've known. He apologised for this and the way I was treated by his colleague.
Why was a fault reported on the 3rd April? Why have I not been updated since? Simple answer from BT. There probably was no fault, that was probably also incorrectly opened. Note the key word probably. The advisor I talked to said he had no idea what happened in any of my previous calls and that there was no way he could find out why the fault was opened, or listen to the call (despite all calls being recorded). He said it was impossible for Level 2 to hear the content of any calls made with Level 1 and that it was 'impossible for an advisor to take notes for a call lasting more than half an hour'.
I recieved a call back today on my mobile where I was told just to continue monitoring the fault. However I was also told, again, quite categorically, that there is nothing wrong and that he would happily send an engineer in three days but that 'he would be able to do absolutely nothing. It would be a waste of time'. The advisor also refused to give any details on how much this would cost and was desperate to end the call saying 'goodbye' despite me being mid sentence multiple times.
I have now been told to 'continue monitoring my connection' and await another call back on Friday, by which point I will have wasted many more hours on the phone to BT.
Your customer service is disgusting. Your lack of compassion and understanding is disgusting. The way you totally mislead customers is disgusting.
And now for my top BT Operator quotes (or near quotes, as obviously no-one has any idea what was said in these calls, not even BT!):
"If your temperature raised to 100 degrees celcius but then went back to normal, there would be no problem, it's the same with broadband"
"Everyone in the world has a rate-adaptive line and everyone in the world should expect their line to drop"
"If your line only drops 5 or 6 times a day there is no problem, you obviously should've known this before you signed up for Infinity"
"There definitely is a fault.... there definitely isn't a fault" - the trademark conclusiveness of BT
"We can limit the speed on the phone line, but it would have to be to 1mb" - this is despite absolutely contradictory help published by BT
But despite these humorous moments, I have wasted a huge amount of time on the phone to BT.
I have one simple demand. Stop the broadband from dropping multiple times per day. If you cannot do this, let us leave, as you are not meeting your contractual obligations and therefore we shouldn't have to either.
And please... don't apologise for your colleague not calling back in the first minute of the phone call and then not call back.

    Hi Bryan,
Like yourself and many, many other people who come to these forums - I have been experiencing the same problems. Constant disconnections, and recently, speed dropping to 4Mb in the Evenings (I'm supposed to be getting 74Mb).
It's ridiculous with how many people are experiencing these problems and BT are blatently ignoring it. To add insult to injury, this was posted in February. A statement from BT basically saying "Well you're all gonna be having problems, but it's on you."
Don't fret though, the moderators, and other people from the community can be fantastic help.
Purchasing an Openreach modem, suggested by ray_dorset, I'll still be awaiting for the Huawei 612, V3b modem to arrive and hoping this will fix the drops in speed. I currently have an ECI modem fitted in, which has stopped the disconnects, but have not stopped the speed drops.
For anyone reading this who is unfamiliar with modems as I was:
As far as I know, there's currently two types of Openreach Modems. Every exchange is built with a certain "chipset" which will work best with these modems (explaining in simplistic terms and I could be very wrong, so I am happy to be corrected.)
    The Two Openreach Modems:
    Huawei 614
    ECI
From the advice I have been given by the moderators, if you're new to BT Infinity, then your exchange may have only recently been built, which is then most likely to have a chipset which will work better with Huawei modems. I'm about to find out this by next week.
If, in some horrible scenario it doesn't work and the speed is still constantly dropping, then you may need to fork out and purchase a new router (BUT KEEP THE MODEM). Many people have said their internet has been fixed by doing this.
One of the things I did find pretty hillarious however, is that I did call up BT the other night due to having terrible connections. He told me to take out my modem and just use the home hub 5. He then kept telling me to change a few settings on the HH5 and run a speedtest. Every, single, time we changed something - the speed would get lower and lower, followed by an "Uhhh, monitor your speed over the course of this week and then we'll call you back."
I'm sorry, but BT customer service have no idea how to fix this, so don't waste your time ringing them. I genuinely feel bad for them too, they have to put up with our **bleep** while the engineers at BT who work on the firmware for the HH5 can't be arsed to try and fix it any further.
Seriously, mate - just try the steps above, come to the forums if you need help because you're more than likely to get a better answer. I know it sucks not being able to call up BT because they're just going to give you a bunch of BS, but if everyone who had a complaint on this forum worked for BT tech support, maybe there'd be more satisfied customers.

  • XBOX 360 CONNECTION ISSUES

As I am a avid gamer on xbox360 I have noticed the following I have connection issues when I play black ops lag is terrible and thinking that this may be due to th e games servers so I tryed modern warfare2 and yet this is the same now bearing in mind whwn I was with Talk Talk this issue very rarely occured...so why now I wonder?....I have the new HUB 3 I have tryed PORT forwarding and this is still no better IF anyone has any advice on this I would appreciate it very much...........

    hi
there could be several issues here...
when gaming online, sometimes the lag may NOT be your fault (or your ISP i should say).
if you are on infinity, then upload is minimum of 2mbps so around 1.6meg in real terms which is more than enough bandwidth for online gaming.
however, LATENCY, is the main player here.
it doesnt matter if you have a 10mbps upload connection if your latency is very high but to be honest, even at worst, i dont think you should be getting in excess of 40ms to anywhere in the UK...
i am an XBOX gamer on Infinity and i use wireless to my HHB3 and have never encountered any issues so far (touch wood)...
As you say your are using a wired connection, then im assuming you mean XBOX directly wired into hub. If this happens with ALL of your online games, then maybe try resetting your hub/router and try again and double check any port forwarding you may stipulated. Maybe even try using another ethernet cable?
again, i have Infinity/HHB3 with no issues at all with online gaming, even via a wireless connection. If i did, then i would consider placing my XBOX in DMZ whereby it is beyond the firewall so should eliminate any firewall/port forwarding issues.
Since you say that the problem only apparent since changing providers, then i would concentrate efforts on the router/hub and your local connections to that device...its unlikely its anything to do with broadband itself, but more to do with your connection to it.

  • HP PhotoSmart 7510 suddenly has severe connectivity issues

I have a HP PhotoSmart 7510 printer since about 2 months. Initial setup worked like a charm and the printer has been working pretty much perfectly for the last 2 months. Wireless printing, scanning and internet access on the printer (e.g. for Facebook photos) all worked. Just from time to time i would get the occasional (mildly annoying) message on my computer saying "scan to computer is currently unavailable" but it usually worked itself out and whenever I needed it to work, it did work.
But since a few days ago, it has some severe connectivity issues. I didn't change any settings on the printer, router or computer - the issues just started appearing by themselves. I startet getting much more frequent messages on my computer saying "scan to computer is currently unavailable". I noticed I couldn't print anymore, and restarting computer, printer and/or router didn't help at all. The only thing so far i managed to print wirelessly since the problems started were the first 5 pixel rows of an image I tried to print, the rest didn't transmit.
It seems the printer still connects to the WLAN but printing and scanning no longer work, and whenever I try to access a web service on the printer (like Facebook) it says it has no internet connection, even though the WLAN light is lit up (not blinking) and all the wireless status reports say "congratulations, no problems found" and display IPs etc. just like normal.
I looked at the threads "PhotoSmart 7510 connects to router, but not to the web.", "Wireless printer (HP Photosmart 7510) not connecting to network" and "Photosmart 7510 won't connect to Web Services" but they weren't a big help. Activating EWS didn't work because even though the printer showed its IP address to be 192.168.1.3, when I entered this in my web browser it didn't find the printers configuration page.
I tried the following steps from one of the threads:
    1. Restore the Network defaults
    2. Unplug the printers power cord while it is still on. Leave it unplugged and walk to the router.
    3. While the router is still on, unplug the power cord from the router, leave it unplugged for 30 seconds, then reconnect the power cord to the router. Once plugged back in the router should power on automatically.
    4. Plug the power cord back into the printer. Once plugged back in the printer should power on automatically.
    5. Run the Wireless Setup Wizard to reconnect the printer to your wireless network.
    6. Try enabling Web Services.
I followed these steps exactly. Interestingly, even though I had done step 1 and restored the network settings to factory defaults, after turning back on, the printer somehow still had its old settings saved and reconnected to the network.
It seemed to have fixed the problem, the printer finally had internet access again (Facebook app showed my photos) and scan to computer found my PC. But after just about 3 minutes, the printer had lost its internet connectivity again. When opening the Facebook app, it displayed the same error message it did before. And printing no longer worked as well.
So, what is wrong with this printer?! It has the newest software update by the way (I checked during the 3 minutes it had internet access.) My computer is a HP Windows 7 x64 machine (EliteBook 6930p) and the router I'm using is a Netgear WNDR3700.
I specifically bought this printer for my studies at university. In one week i have my exams and in order to study I REALLY need to be able to print some of my course materials! So any help as quickly as possible would be greatly appreciated. Or do you think this is a case for a warranty replacement, considering the printer's really strange and error-prone behavior?
    Thanks a lot!

I can assure you that it is not a router issue.  It appears to me that it is a driver compatibility with Windows OS.  After trying to get to the bottom of this since my Photosmart 7525 was new and reading just about every forum and blog, I have come to the conclusion that the issue must be related to the HP driver itself.
The issue does not seem to affect any Mac systems, and from one forum someone was able to fix it by downloading new drivers compatible with 64-bit systems (which seem to not be affected by the glitch).  But that leaves us 32-bit people stuck with the current driver which does not work.
The printer is connected with good signal to the wireless router (no matter who's router it is and what configuration is made).  The printer can be pinged from the router and any computer on the network which is not currently being affected by this issue.  However, the affected computer fails pings by either request timed out, or destination host unreachable.  Pings are successful from the affected computer to any other device on the network.  The only way to recover (at least for a few days) is to reboot the affected computer.
Also, from the display on the 7525, the network tests pass without issue.  I can also download and print content from the internet with no issues.
Please do a quick google search of this issue and you will see several THOUSAND entries of people with the same request.  This is a serious issue that people are having and everything is pointing to an HP problem (not routers, improper installation of software or drivers, etc...).  I agree with several other customers that HP should be on the hook for this fix.  I will give it another couple weeks, then back to the store for a reliable unit from another competitor (Canon, Lexmark, etc..)
Thank you in advance for escalating this issue to product engineering,
    S. Hunn

  • Connection doctor and connection issues

I have nothing blocking  my internet connection, however mail is a nightmare for me. I continually receive connection issues via the connection doctor for imaps, pops, and icloud.
Are my settings wrong? I have checked with each of the settings and they are set per instructions provided. Some are google, some yahoo, icloud, etc.
This is really annoying and I could really use some help.
Here is a typical message: Could not connect to this Google IMAP server. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the Account preferences. Also verify that the server supports SSL. If it does not, deselect the 'Use SSL" checkbox in the Advanced tab of Account Preference"
I have done all of this and am still having troubles.
I am also receiving SMTP connection issues - "Trying to log into this SMTP account failed. Verufy that the username and password are correct."
I have checked and all are correct. Even more confusing, these issues are not present all the time - however I have not changed anything between when times are good and bad.
Sigh - I hope someone has an idea to help me out.
Thanks in advance for your time and thoughts.
    Patti
I am running osx 10.8 mail 6.2 and use xfinity for my internet (as I mentioned, I disabled their firewall trying to fix this)

  • Excel ODBC Connection Issues

I'm having some issues importing external data from an Oracle 9i database.
    Here is what is happening:
I am initially able to import data from the table I want to into Excel.
I do this through "Data -> Import External Data -> New Database Query" where I have my .ORA data source. I'm able to log in using my user and password and import the table. My problems come after I import this first set of data.
If I try to "Edit Query…" I get an error box that says "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed".
If I try to "Refresh Data" I get two error boxes. The first is just: "[Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle][Oracle]" and the next says: "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed". It then prompts me for the User name and password of the DB I'm connecting and after I enter the information, I get the same two error messages.
Also, if I attempt to establish another connection following the "Data -> Import External Data…" steps I run into a different problem. Upon entering the information for the User Name and password prompt I get two error messages. One says "!" and the next box says "Couldn't read this file". Once I click "OK" in those boxes, the Microsoft Query window automatically opens with nothing in it.
I can't seem to figure out why I can initially pull down data and then cannot succeed afterwards. I'm unable to connect to the DB I have through Excel until I completely closed all Microsoft Excel instances.
I also use this data source in Microsoft Access without any problems.
    My Excel version is 2003.
I'm using Oracle Drivers I'm using are from an "Instant Client" package.
Any thoughts why I'm having these connections issues?
    Thanks in advance.

    This issue is closed.
    The solution was:
"Data -> Import External Data -> Import Data"
Select "New Source" and select the "Oracle" data source and filled in the appropriate information. This was similar to the database query but it actually works.

  • My brand new mac pro always had Internet connection issues at school. WHY is that? I see the school's Internet working perfectly fine on other PC's, but there is never a day where my mac doesn't have Internet connection issues at school. How do I fix it?

I got my mac pro in the middle of August. School started the week after. Internet was working perfectly fine at home. But at school, I never had a good connection. Sometimes on the good days I get a connection when I'm sitting at the exact spot in class I always sit at. It's ridiculous and it's frustrating. I invested my money into this laptop and I'm beginning to regret it. I thought it was the school's Internet, but I don't see Internet issues with other PC users. It's most frustrating on registration days and I'm trying to register for my classes before it gets taken, but again... Internet connection issues. It's random. Majority of the time, it doesn't work at all. I've done Network Diagnosis and turning WiFi off then turning it on again. I've done everything I could. I put my money on this laptop and it was a lot of money. I could have bought an 800 dollars laptop and I would have Internet connection anywhere on campus. So, I don't want to continue everyday to regret on buying this laptop every time I try to connect to the Internet at school or Starbucks or anywhere else. How do I fix this? What's the problem ?
At school, I heard this guy had a problem with Internet connections too and he owned a new mac book pro. He said something like Apple messed up on something, but he fixed it. If I knew mac book pro's had these issues I wouldn't have bought it in the first place. It's freezing on me every other day. It's ridiculous. But what concerns me the most is the Internet connection. So someone please tell me what can I do next to prevent the problem? Am I doing something wrong maybe?

    Hi Kevin,
I'm using an XLR input mic which is connected to the phantom power enabled XLR mic socket on a USB M-Audio M-Track. The M-Track is connected by USB to the Mac Pro - so effectively I've got an M-Audio USB soundcard with a mic input.  I've also tried a microphone that is a straight XLR to USB cable (guessing with some soundcard chip buried in the usb plug) but that also yields the same effect of bad latency, intermittent quality, stuttering and repeating and echoing (without the speakers on during record so its not feedback).
The mic works absolutely fine with other recording applications I have on the mac at the moment - albeit non-adobe ones (tested it on the EasyAudioRecorder - and it lives up to its name. it's easy)
I will try with Audition and report back, but sitting here right now I can imagine it would work fine with audition too - it just seems to be the way premiere is set up for recording into the timeline is a bit sketchy.  I'm willing to accept it might well be a quirk with the new Mac Pro trashcan - I'm not weighting all the woes on premiere.
Any thoughts or am I out of luck to sit with my fingers crossed for a fix in the next round of updates?
    Nathan.

  • Connection issues with Safari 3

I'm having some connection issues with Safari 3.
When I connect wirelessly, Safari won't load any web pages. I go and use Firefox and everything is just peachy.
I've reset Safari, emptied the cache and whatnot. I went in and checked the permissions, everything checks out.
When I connect with Ethernet, there's nothing wrong, which is my dilemma.
    Help would be greatly appreciated.

There are a number of posts in the Leopard forum from people with direct experience with upgrading from Panther to Leopard. Here is a relevant thread from there that should reassure you.:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1418714
Your system should be fine for Leopard, but you will probably need a current version of Photoshop if you don't already have it. See this download:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/products/pdfs/leopardsupport.pdf
Also, Leopard doesn't run Classic (OS 9) apps.
One caveat - first make a bootable backup "clone" of your present system onto an external firewire drive so you can recover if anything goes wrong. You can use the "Restore" tab of Disk Utility to make such a clone, and there are also Panther-compatible versions of Carbon Copy Cloner (v 2.3) and SuperDuper (v 2.1.4), both excellent for this.
It's even possible to a create second Panther clone on a different external volume to create a "dual-boot" system, using that volume to continue to run old applications that you can't run with Leopard.

  • Connection issues with EA4500

I had bad connection issues with my mobile device, so i pressed reset on my EA4500 router, and now when i connect to my network, it gives my limited connection even though i have 5 bars of signal. Not sure what to do now...

Resetting the router will erase all the settings you configured on the router since the initial setup. You manually configure the router's wireless settings so your wireless devices can have internet access again.

Make sure to use a computer that is hardwired via Ethernet cable to the router.
