Budget vs Opportunities revenue

Hi,
I would like to manage my budget on CRM on Demand and compare it with my opportunities revenue.
So I would like to create a custom object budget and add a record for each budget that I need.
My budget is linked to Fiscal Year, Countries and/or Unit.
ex: Budget France 2009 unitA = 1 000 000 $
I would like to create a report to compare this amount with all my opportunities with a booking date in 2009 for the country France and the Unit A.
Is it possible to make this kind of comparaison on Siebel On Demand. An expert can help me to answer my need (object definition and report creation)
Best regards all,
Tim

We do something similar but this is around budget and associated territory. I haven't been able to perform this function for associated products as such. I would suggest reading metalink regarding territory management to get an understanding on what you can perform within this area.

Has any one worked on revenue budgets in ps ?
How this can be handled in ps?
Revenue budgets consist of revenue recipts and its expendetures. Usually expendetures from this type of budgets does not result in creation of assets.

I think you first create cost element group for revenues and make it Planning be Revenue cost elements wise.
    Path: Project System->Revenues and Earnings->Planned Revenues->Manual Revenue Planning->Structure Planning

  • Is there a way to create a recurring revenue/billing event in Projects (r12)?

Is there any way to create a revenue/billing event in Projects that can be scheduled (billed monthly until a specified end date) other than a customization?

I think there is no standard way to do it. However you can use billing extension to create automatic events. You may define the DFF fields on Project or Task level for having a recurring amount and End Date which will be picked during Generate Draft Revenue or Generate Draft Invoices. You can check in extension that if the event is already created for that month, extension should not create another event for same month for that project or Task because user may run the processes several times in a month. Please note that there will not be any history kept for DFF changes for amount and dates.
You may decide on other means to keep recurring amount and End Dates to maintain History.
    Awaiting more inputs from experts.
Also consider below statement from User Guide:
    Transaction Independent
Once you determine the inputs to your calculations, you can determine if your billing extension calculation is solely dependent on other transactions being processed, or if your calculation can be executed without any other transactions being processed. Transactions refer to expenditure items and events.
Transaction independent billing extensions are executed for each project with an active billing assignment, even if there are no transactions to process. This type of billing extension relies on an input other than billable transactions on a project. If this input changes, the calculated billing amount changes, which you want to record. For example, the cost-to-cost revenue accrual method, which relies on the budgeted cost and revenue amounts. If the budgeted cost or budgeted revenue changes, the revenue amount changes. You want to record this revenue amount change even if no other transactions are processed in revenue generation. This category includes the class of billing extensions that calculate revenue and invoice amounts based on values independent of the amounts included on draft revenue and invoices.
Note: If you design a billing extension to be transaction independent, it will be executed in every run of the revenue or invoice processes.

  • Project Management -Automatic process to approve Forecast Cost and Revenue?

    Hello,
If anyone can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated.
Due to our business requirements, we have to run the "PRC: Generate Financial Plan Amounts" program every week for 40-50 projects.
The issue with this is that after running this program we have to manually go into each project and approve the latest cost and revenue versions. Is there a program or an api that I can use to automatically approve these projects without going into each project and manually update them?
    Thank you in advanced.

  • How to accomplish Revenue and Cost forecasting in Oracle?

We are implementing Oracle Rel 11.5.10. and have a specific business requirement for Revenue and Cost Forecasting.
We have Projects integrated with OM using custom extensions (We are not using Project Manufacturing). Revenue is based on scheduled shipment dates and Cost is based on PO Promise Dates. Both Revenue and Cost are forecasted for 2 quarters and are rolled up on revenue category level. When Scheduled shipment date changes it is required to automatically forecast the revenue in the period scheduled ship date falls into. We understand that out of the box functionality does not support roll up of forecast at revenue category level which leads to displaying budgets, commitments and atuals in different lines. Has any one done this in any of there client engagements? Can anyone explain how Revenue and Cost forecasting is done in a High tech Network Equipment manufacturer which usies Projects.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Amit

    Hi
My understanding is that your entire solution is based on custom proceses.
You might have a program that reads the scheduled shipment date from OM and generate budget lines for revenue.
You might have a program that reads the PO Promise date from Purchasing, and generate budget lines for costs.
You could integrate those sources and generate a new version of forecast every time you need to update your plans in Oracle Projects.

  • Revenue for activity

    Dear experts
    hi,
can we assign a revenue to activity same as WBS ?
    thanks indeed

At activity level only cost can be planned.
no budget and no revenue can be planned at activity level.
You can check the planned cost in the actvity itself or as a report (check the std reports)

  • Vendor Down Payment Request on WBS (F-47)

    Dear Fellows:
I have came across a problem that while creating a Vendor Down Payment request (T.code: F-47) on WBS, my system is not stoping me over budget exhaust. I have Budget of 100  and i create request for 101, system allows it and post the document.
Vice Versa if i create a Vendor Down Payment request over Commitment iten, then system check the budget and generates message.
any good solution to it would highly be appreciable.
    Regards.

    Hi,
The budget availability check is done only against the assigned values and
Following entried does not contribute to the Assigned value
        V: Value type not relevant (<> Act./Plan/Stat.Act./Stat.Plan/Commt)
        D: Delivery
S: Settlement to object with no budget control
        R: Revenue cost element
C: Cost element is exempt cost element
M: Minimum from actual + commitment and plan per order value update
P: Plan value is not on apportioned order / network
        B: Plan Costing Single Position
        S: Funds Commitment in Balance
So the down payment is not covered for the calculation of the assigned value.
Hence no check is carried out for the Availability check.
    hope its useful.
    Reward points if useful.
    Thanks..

  • How do MQLs materialise in SFDC?

In theory 'MQL' (Marketing Qualified Lead) is an individual's stage in the marketing funnel. In my organisation it is one of the key stages in the funnel, because it is the trigger for further qualification and opportunity detection. One might say that 'MQL' is the stage that all our demand generation activities are driving towards. So there is a high interest in reporting and reviewing the number of MQLs that our marketing activities generate.
For such reporting most of our stakeholders will turn to SFDC. This is the CRM we use in connection to Eloqua.
Here we run into a real challenge: MQL is a stage i.e. it passes/changes. So how could we report on something like the number of MQLs we generated in the past 2 quarters, or the number of MQLs generated by specific campaign(s)? We can report on how many MQLs we currently have, but how many we generated during a specific time and/or through specific campaigns...?
We are thinking of creating a new/custom object in SFDC which will represent this MQL: when the combined activities and profile of a person meet the thresholds of our lead scoring model(s), such an MQL record will be created in SFDC and will be linked to that individual's contact/lead record.
That MQL-record will then be the basis for further telemarketing qualification and opportunity detection. When an opportunity gets detected, this is created as an opportunity record and will be linked to the MQL-record. So we'll have Contact + MQL + Opportunity records which will be interlinked and which will have stages to identify their current place in the marketing/sales funnel. At some point an MQL will reach the end of its cycle. A specific stage will indicate this and the stage on the Contact record will be reset to one of the earlier stages in the buying cycle. This way we'll have an ever existing record of MQLs that were generated, their current stage and the opportunities/revenue associated to them.
Of course this is quite a development and it introduces a new kind of (custom) object in SFDC which will need to be managed and related to all the other SFDC objects.
I was wondering, are there similar set-ups like this 'out there' or did you implement alternative solutions to have a more permanent representation of MQLs in your CRM (SFDC); so that you can historically report on marketing's performance in creating MQLs and their progression into opportunities/revenue?
    Best regards
    Roger

Thanks Adam, that is a very practical and effective solution. When considering this 'MQL-date' field, did you ever look at just using the Lead-status field and SFDC's feature to store the values of that field historically? I am wondering whether that function would be of any use. If I understand things correctly this 'history feature' could provide the records that at some point had a certain value in the Lead Status field and it could track the different transitions from one value to another. But I am not sure this will suffice or may bring us in reporting problems still. Instead, a specific 'MQL-status' checkbox with a date stamp seems quite simple and these simple solutions are often the most effective ;-)
Do I understand correctly that in your implementation the Lead record represents responses or combination of responses. It does not so much represent a person. If an existing person within your SFDC database has the right behavior/criteria, a Lead will be created for that person as well and that Lead record is linked to the existing (Contact) record? The Lead record is the item that is followed-up with and qualified, by telemarketing or sales?
Thanks for your suggestions and insights.
    Best regards
    Roger

  • Error in commitment fund date from a payment request

    Hello,
When we try to post a payment request from a funds commitment position that has been added to the fund commitment in a date later than the posting date of the payment request, we receive an error message FI_E050.
In our example the message FI_E050 is "Posting date/period 20.04.2009/004 is earlier than existing date/period 07.07.2009/007".
The posting date of the payment request is 20.04.2009, the posting date of the funds commitment is 02.01.2009 and the creation date of the position of the funds commitment is 07.07.2009.
We found the same issue for a modification of a commitment position and we solve it in SPRO as told by SAP OSS but now we have found the same error in an added position.
    Anyone has found this issue?
Thank you very much in advance.
    Kind regards

    Hello Mar,
I will try to explain it better. Sorry for the inconvenience.
The FM update profile is 000359.
PB: Annual-Based Encumbrance Trkg is marked.
CB: Period-Based Encumbrance Tracking is marked.
Then, we have the value type 65 with this values:
    Payment Budget     X
    Commitment Budget     X
    Year-Dependent Control Between Pa
    Payment budget reduced     X
    Commitment budget reduced     X
Payment Budget Date, Fiscal Year     B
    CB Date, Fiscal Year     B
    PB Date, Approval Year     F
    CB Date, Approval Year     F
    CCN logic payment budget
    CCN logic, commitment budget
    PB: Period-Based Encumbrance Trac     X
    CB: Period-Based Encumbrance Trac     X
    Budget assigned     X
    Revenue/expenditure control
    PB: Annual-Based Encumbrance Trkg
    CB: Annual-Based Encumbrance Trac
    Approved Amounts in Payment Budge
Approved Amounts in Commitment Bu     X
Rest of the values has not been updated with a profile value type dependency.
After your answer, I have made a test between a funds reservation and a funds precommitment to ensure that the error was made because of the activation of PBET. Then I get that if I add a position to the funds reservation and I use this position in a funds precommitment, I get FI_E050 too. I use the same dates that you can find in the first post.
On the other hand CB Period-Based Encumbrance Tracking is active for value type 80, 81, 82 and 83 (and 65). I suppose this is active because of the profile.
Please, if you need more info I can send you and image of the RFFMMONI.
Thank you very much in advance.
    Kind regards

  • Automatic creation of new dimension members

    Hello all,
Bit of a long post so please bear with me.
I am about to embark on only my third BPC project after having spent several years implementing solutions using BusinessObjects Planning (formerly SRC software), and am still struggling to come up with an elegant solution to the fact that I cannot save data to dimension elements unless they are already explicitly defined in the dimension member list (presumably due to cube architecture).
Those of you who have used BOP/SRC will remember this as unvalidated dimensions.
I find having to first go to admin and pre create members before being able to use an input schedule to save data against them is very restrictive.
I'm hoping one of you guys can help me improve on the workaround I currently use.
For example I have a 'bid submission' input schedule that is used by the user to submit bids for increased budget, capital or revenue, capturing basic costs and commentary. The user selects a bid number from a combo box which is populated by using an EVLST formula to read in pre created dimension members. I have to save a flag to the db which I then use to exclude already used numbers when feeding the combo box on future submissions.
Which works ok but if I have a hierarchy on bid number based on say, cost centre, how do I get around the fact that number ranges have to be pre-assigned to cost centre, Cost Centre A = 1 to 1000, Cost Centre B = 1001 to 2000 etc. What happens if I go over the 1000 on Cost centre A? I then get non contiguous ranges per cost centre.
Is it possible for the bid number to be dictated by the user when they start to fill in the bid submission? Or give the impression that they are?
Or if the client has a bid number format that cannot be pre created? Eg incorporating things like year or person etc. This information could be save separately but not within the bid number. Is it possible to save data to dimension property columns from an input schedule?
    Hope you guys can help
    Many thanks

  • Multiple selection criteria on same field, different parts of report

    CA Forum: Formula
New user here - I just finished a Crystal Reports course and still don't know what I'm doing so I need help!
I am building a report that will show Bugdeted Revenues and Costs and Actual Revenues and Costs (4 seperate fields).
My report will be divided into several sections i.e. Manufacturing Phase, Installation Stage, etc.
Each section will include different Cost Categories (another field) so I need to be able to pull only certain records (categories) from this field.
Could someone please tell me how to structure the report as follows:
Budgeted Revenue        Budgeted Costs                 Actual Revenue            Actual Costs
    Manufacturing Stage
    Cost Category:
    Paint
    Hardware
    Installation Stage
    Labour
I will be most grateful for any help you can provide.

Ok - so I've set up the different sections of the report...but I'm trying to insert formula fields for each Cost Category and having trouble with the formula to select only certain records (I keep getting an error).  It's probably very simple but I can't for the life of me figure it out - I tried all kinds of formulas before I posted for help.
    Maybe this will clarify:
Sum the Total Current Revenue      of only Cost Category "Paint"
    {PMCATEGT.TCURREVHM}        {PMCATEGS.DESC} = "PAINT"
and in another part of the report for example
Sum the Total Current Revenue of only Cost Category "Installation"

  • Cost/Cost business rule

    Dear All,
I have one business scenario where I have requirement as below.
I have one project with Distribution rule Cost/Cost, now I have recieved one item in Inventory with amount 1000$.
But as this cost is still present in Inventory I dont want to issue any invoice to my customer(let say after 6 months I will issue this item to my customer and during that moment only invoice should issue)
As per Cost rule, 1000$ ll be showing in Projects as actual cost and invoice will be automatically generated.
I want to avoid this.(Dont want to change rule)
Can any one help me out here?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sarvottam.

    Hi
By choosing the distribution rule COST/COST you are going to get revenue and invoices based on the formula -
Revenue event = Actual accumulated cost / Approved Cost Budget * Approved Revenue Budget - Actual accumulated Revenue
Invoice Event = Actual accumulated cost / Approved Cost Budget * Approved Revenue Budget - Actual accumulated Invoices.
Usually companies run the GDR and GDI processes each period.
You described a scenario where you want to invoice the customer when you deliver the item to the customer. If you need to invoice then based on the above described formula, then you just need to schedule the process GDI to the right moment (after delivery). Be careful and prevent invoice generation, or at least prevent invoice release, before the right time.
However, if you need to invoice for a fixed price value which is not based on that formula, you might need to use as invoice method EVENT and not COST.

  • Reporting in PS on multiple project

    Hello,
I am searching for a report to analyse the margin of all the project currently open on our SAP.
(with the cost, revenue, budgeted cost and revenue).
I have found report doing that (for example in PS91) but for specified WBS elements or project.
How can I do that on all opened project in the database ?
Additional question :  If a user request a report on PS would you say that most of the time it's already there in the system or that most of the time a development is needed ?
    Thanks for your answers,
    Manuel

Would like to suggest you to try CJI3 and CJI8 for Actuals (Cost and Revenues) and Budget respectively. To compare both actuals and budget together in a report you can use S_ALR_87013558.
What you mean by Open projects? Put Asterik (*) and run for all if you want to see all of your projects.
It depends on the request of the user, what report they are looking for, there are lots of good reports available in PS so you might want to go through Information systems of PS.
    Hope it helps.

  • Budgetory Commitment Items for Recon. accounts

    Hi Experts,
I have a requirement of budgeting trade creditors in SAP. Currently in our legacy system we are budgeting trade creditors as well as expenses.
Now as per SAP point of view my understanding is that we can only budget expense and revenue items. But for recon. accounts like vendor and customer, budgeting is not possible in SAP. I tried creating a commitment item for vendor recon. account with financial transaction 30 and commitment item category 3 and the same was assigned to recon. account in FS00. I posted budget in this commitment item with reference to fund and fund center through FMBB(T.code). Budget category "payment" was used for posting this budget and budget was successfully posted. Now when i tried to post the invoice to vendor, the system asks me to enter fund and fund center in vendor line item as well. i provided the fund and fund center in vendor line item to which i posted budget earlier in FMBB. the document gets posted without any error but when i view the budget consumption report instead of deducting invoice amount from the  consumable budget amount and show the net available budget system add this in the consumable budget and shows the net result as bellow:
can any one guide if budgeting of such item is possible in sap FM or can we just budget P/L items? need your guidance please.

    Hi,
Payments made to a vendor can be tracked through FI/FI-CA modules.
As for PSM-FM, please, comprehend and explain to your client two important points:
    a) You won't be able to budget a vendor separately, but only, and still hypothetically, through reconciliation account, which makes the whole thing meaningless, as there will be no control on specific vendor
    b) You won't stop payment, from business perspective, to a vendor on duly registered invoice just because 'the budget was exceeded'
If your client is interested to follow the payments, he can 'budget' bank accounts. Again, this does not make any sense (at least, a blocking budgeting), because the control is already applied through treasury components and bank account balance itself. Still, technically, it could be done.

    Eli
