Revenue budgets in ps

Hi all
Has any one worked on revenue budgets in ps ?
How this can be handled in ps?
Revenue budgets consist of revenue recipts and its expendetures. Usually expendetures from this type of budgets does not result in creation of assets.

I think you first create cost element group for revenues and make it Planning be Revenue cost elements wise.
Path: Project System->Revenues and Earnings->Planned Revenues->Manual Revenue Planning->Structure Planning
CJR9    PS: Display Revenue Element Planning
CJ42    Change Project Revenues
CJ43    Display Project Revenues

  • Revenue Budget by GL Period

    Hi,
Can anyone let me know, if we enter Revenue Budget by GL Period.
Will Oracle Proects allow the generation of Revenue, if the calculated amount is more than Reve. Budget for that period ?
    If No ?
Please suggest alternative solutions to acheive the same.
    Regards,
    adi

    Hi
You might need to develop the validation into a billing extension.
Doing that may be somehow tricky, and depends on the revenue method.
Please explain what is the method you are using, is it based on expenditures (WORK) or on percent spent (COST), or manually entered events, or automatic events based on customized calculation, etc.

  • Revenue budgets

    Dear all,
Our management wants to track budgets vs actuals in SAP.  We dont have any thing configured in our system regarding maintenance of budgets. Can any one  tell the procedure to maintain budgets in SAP.

    Hi,
You can plan your revenues exactly as you do it for expenses. Use transaction 7KE1 to enter the planning on cost/revenue elements for profit centre and then use appropriate report (e.g. S_ALR_87009712 - Profit Center List: Plan/Actual) to check the actual vs. planning.

  • Can we create a Budget & Availability Control for revenues with internal orders?

    Dear SAP Gurus,
I have created an expense budget with the help of an internal order and have assigned the same to an expense GL (cost element). I have done all the necessary system settings and the system gives an error message when the F-02 document posting exceeds the budget.
My query is, I want to replicate the the above for revenue postings. I have done the same system settings for revenue posting however the system does not give an error when the budget amount is exceeded.
Can I please get some assistance with this requirement?
    Best Regards,
    Akshay

    Hi Akshay,
System will not give the error in the case of Revenue GL. Because all the revenue GL will be hit for credit. It means it will update negative against the budget available. It means
Current Budget-(-Revenue Budget)= Current Budget + Revenue Budget= Available Budget
Because of this system will never give the error.

  • SQL Query using Subquery to get the difference in budget versions

    Hi
I am using the following query to find the difference between revenue budget changes from the previous version to latest version. However the second subquery is not working. Has somebody done a similar query before? Any help?
    select distinct b.name, b.segment1, a.version_number , a.version_name, a.change_reason_code, a.revenue, f.revenue, a.creation_date, d.full_name
    from PA_BUDGET_VERSIONS a, pa_projects_all b, fnd_user c, per_all_people_f d,PA_BUDGET_VERSIONS f
    where a.project_id = b.project_id
    and a.created_by = c.user_id
    and c.employee_id = d.person_id
    and a.budget_type_code = 'AR'
    and a.budget_status_code = 'B'
    and b.org_id in (147,707,140)
    and a.version_number in (select max(e.version_number) from PA_BUDGET_VERSIONS e where e.budget_version_id = a.budget_version_id
    and a.project_id = e.project_id)
    and a.budget_version_id = f.budget_version_id
    and f.version_number in (Select max(g.version_number) from PA_BUDGET_VERSIONS g where f.budget_version_id = g.budget_version_id
    and f.project_id = g.project_id and g.version_number < a.version_number)
    and a.creation_date between '01-JAN-09' and '30-JAN-09'
    order by b.segment1;

Analytic functions to the rescue! (Now you'll only have one pass through the pa_budget_version table, instead of four!)
Something like this, perhaps (assuming version_numbers are unique per project_id and budget_version_id):
    WITH a AS (SELECT project_id,
                      version_number,
                      version_name,
                      change_reason_code,
                      creation_date,

                      row_number() over (partition by project_id, budget_version_id
                                         order by version_number desc) rn,
                      lag(revenue) over (partition by project_id, budget_version_id
                                         order by version_number desc) prev_ver_revenue
               FROM   pa_budget_versions
               WHERE  budget_type_code = 'AR'
               AND    budget_status_code = 'B'
               AND    creation_date BETWEEN to_date('01/01/2009', 'dd/mm/yyyy')
                                    AND     to_date('30/01/2009', 'dd/mm/yyyy'))
    SELECT DISTINCT b.name,

                    a.version_number,
                    a.version_name,
                    a.change_reason_code,
                    a.revenue,
                    a.prev_ver_revenue,
                    a.creation_date,

  • What is better to use- Financial Plan Vs. Budget

    Hi,
We are on 12.1.3 and using Project Costing & Billing.
Now the requirement is to capture expenditure estimates at lowest task level and later compare it with actuals.
I'm having few doubts, pls help throwing some light on these:
    1. How do we decide which one to use between budgets or financial plans.
    2. Is it possible to load either budgets or FP through excel.
    3. How can we compare estimated expenditure with actuals at a lowest task level.
Pls help me on these doubts.
P.S. We are not using GL Budgets, PA resource lists etc. We are looking at this budgeting requirement at very basic level-  just entering estimates at task level and comparing with actuals.
    Thanks

I would recommend financial plans, …. biggest advantage we found with them was the ability to enter your cost budget and revenue budget at the saem time, in the same screen, …..
And yes, you can laod FP's from excel, don't think you can with budgets, you would have to use a tol like dataloader i would guess, ...
Comparing actuals with the estimates ? just write a report, ....
    Regrads,
    Eric.

  • Is it possible to create financial plan for cost budget when ?

    Hello Experts,
I am in situation where customer is currently using budgetory control enabled features and creating / maintaining cost budgets using oracle Form based budgets. Now after using for so many years, suddenly they choose not to use it. Instead they want financial plans to use for cost and revenue budgeting.
When We have run UPG : Upgrade budget type process it results into no data found and cannot able to help me in upgrading financial plan.
I think if the budgetory control is enable then we must need to create the cost budgets using Oracle Smart Forms. Am I rght?
If I am right then what would be work around? As I cannot ask them to create a new project & close exsting project because lots of PO & REQ are still open.
Lets say though they wanted to closed those PO & REQ and wanted to disabled budgetory control option on project they must need to diasable encumbrance acconting from Ledger. In that case what would be the overall impact? And what is gurantee whether system allow them to updgrade the budget to financial plan?
Has someone trapped and escaped from such kind of situation ever before?
    Please help...
    Thanks
    :-)

    Hi Dina,
The patch is nothing doing great but disabling the flag from the table which in turns enabling the budget types to be upgraded to financial plans very smoothly. Once updgraded, the budgets values are easily available in financial plans for reporting and further processing.
In this org, Customer is not using budgetory control functionality but in another org they are using it.
What I have learn in this situation is had it been all the budget types been upgraded first and later use in budgetory control, this situation would not have been arrived.
    Thanks
    :-)

  • Advance Billing with %Spent Revenue

    Hi Dina,
My client has a scenario, where the commercial dept. would bill his customer based on the contract terms and conditions
    For example
    CV=100,000/- = Rev. Budget
    and milestones are ....
    M1=20% billing
    M2=30% billing
    M3=50% billing
i.e, billing to customer should happen either with Percent Complete Invoice (20%, 30%,80%)*Rev Budget automatically
Now Finance wants the revenue be generated based on %Spent (Cost-Cost) and the revenue be netted out at period end.
Please suggest me how to achieve this .....would be of great help
    Regards,

    Hi
I understand that the commercial contract with customer has a billing schedule of amount (percentage) per milestone, so you need to bill when milestone is completed.
For that setup the Invoice / billing method as Event.
You could upfront enter the billing events with their description and invoice amount, but don't enter the events completion dates.
As project is executed, the project manager should notify the commercial department whenever a milestone is acheived, so that department will go to the events form, select the relevant event, enter the date, and process draft invoice. i.e. run the process PRC: Generate draft invoice for single project.
For revenue setup the revenue method of the project as COST_TO_COST. Project manager should enter and baseline the Approved Cost Budget. The project should also have a Baselined Approved Revenue Budget equal the allocated funding.
Once a period you would run the process to generate draft revenue, and system will create a revenue event based on the seeded formula of percent spent, for the additional revenue earned on that project.

  • Does Form Base Project budgeting support Budget Forecasting?

    Hello Expert,
Can you please help me in understanding that does form base budgets in project costing support budget forecasting? if no then is that it can be achive only through Project Management?
    Your help will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Uday

    Hi
If you use the Forms for budgeting you can setup various budget types, like approved cost budget, proposal cost plan, funded revenue budget, forecast cost, etc...
For each one of those types you have the same functionality, and budget entry is just keying in the quantities and amounts on the budget form. You could automate the calculation of burdened cost based on the entry of raw cost amount, or that based on quantity. Such automation is done using the budget client extension, and that extension is called immediately as you key in the line value.
With Oracle Project Management (PJT) a new entity was introduced called Financial Plans. A financial plan type is an enhancement of a budget type. The entry of financial plan is done on HTML pages. You could set up financial plans for Firm annual budget, for forecast, for funded revenue etc. With PJT Oracle also delivered a concurrent program called Forecast. That program can generate the plan amounts and insert them on the financial plan defined as parameter. Such calculation functionality is not supported on the Form based budgets.

  • Capital budget

    Dear guru,
As we know revenue budget is managed thru Funds management module.what is the configuration setting required for managing capital budgets
    Thanks
    shivaji

    Hi,
You can control budget through Internal Orders. While creating purchase order for asset or directly passing asset acquisition in F-90, you have to specify internal order for budget check.
    User transaction codes:
    KO01: Internal oder creation
    KO22: Budget amount

  • Multiple Revenue Recognition Methods on a Project(Task Level)

We have projects where certain portion of revenue is recognized based on events(ex: equipment shipment) and certain portion is recognized as cost is incurred(Percentage of Completion).
In Oracle Projects we can have only one Distribution rule for Revenue per project and doesn't allow to have different Revenue distribution rule at the task level.
Business case: Project is for Equipment and Additional Service is purchased, separate tasks are created for Equipment(Task#10) and Service(Task#20).
    Billing is based on Events.
Equipment(task#10) revenue is recognized based on order line shipment(event created),
revenue for Service(task#20) is recognized as Cost is incurred to perform the Service, based on POC calculation.
Following is what we tried as Proof Of Concept:
Funding is at Task Level (set at Project Type), Baseline Funding without Budget is enabled(i.e Revenue budgets are created when funding is baselined)
Billing extension Cost-to-Cost Revenue is assigned on project type, Forecast Cost Budget is used in calculations
Set the distribution rule on project to COST/EVENT
On tasks for Equipment(Task 10), we entered $0 Forecast cost budget
On tasks for Service(Task 20) we entered a $$ Amount(non zero) for Forecast Cost budgets.
Task 10( Equipment - Event based revenue), $0 Cost budget
Create Costs on task 10, Distribute, Account, run the processes to generate revenue
Create a manual revenue event for equipment shipment
Revenue events from Billing extension are not generated, since there is no cost budget, Revenue is generated only for the manual event we created - This works as expected.
Task 20(Service - POC based revenue), Cost budget is $10000 (for ex:)
Create Costs on task 20, Distribute, Account, run the processes to generate revenue
Automatic Revenue events from Billing extension(Cost-to-Cost Revenue) are generated, since there is cost budget, Revenue is generated based on POC calculation.
    Questions:
With the assumption that we will not maintain forecast cost budgets for equipment tasks and use the standard Cost-to-Cost Revenue extension.
We would like to know what is the impact of the above solution option on standard Project Billing functionality and any others.
Any other workarounds to achieve what we are looking for(i.e multiple revenue recognition methods on a project)
How others achieved similar business requirement with Oracle Projects(At present we are creating a 2nd project for Service component) and it has it's cons(consolidated billing etc, since we will be funding 2 projects)
    Harish

    Dear Harish,
I am not sure i have a perfect solution but you can try this.
Set Billing extension to Cost/Event (Percent complete revenue) this will be used for all the scenarios where revenue should be recognised by the system like Ex: Task20
Use Pre-Approved batches for rest of transactions where the cost directly effects the Project.

  • RIB Posting Updating the current Budget

    Hi Guys:
I am facing an issue in FM Revenue increasing budget. I am using FMMPRBB to post Revenue increasing budget and in it document type i am using have a setting of automatic releasing the budget and source and target budget type for RIB are also in consumable budget, but when system is posting budget to the RIB target address , BUDCON report is showing it in current budget column not in consumable budget. Please guide me what can be the reason behind this.
    Regards

    Hi Ming:
I have figured out the reason now, in automatic release settings for document type ZGRN which i was using for automatic releasing RIB budget, RBBST and RBBT processed were not included so that is why budget was getting posted under Current budget even with Fund dependent release settings with no budget type specifications. Thank you for above valuable input.
There is an issue when i post RIB budget via FMMPRBB, please see the attaches screen shot, why is revenue budget increasing , as per my understanding by virtue of an invoice posting on RIB address with revenue commitment  item, fund and fund center, only OPEX related budget should increase but why is revenue address receiving budget. BUDCON view is also attached for revenue commitment item
