Budgets based on Regions - workaround

Hi
I have read a few questions on the forum with regards to Budgets and Profit Centers etc, we pretty much have the same scenario where the company will have regions and will need to base Budgets off these regions, I have gone through and added Budget Scenarios per Region (which is setup as a Project in SBO).
Is this viable or attainable?
They will do postings where they will have to select a project so we can record the correct costs or revenues for this region but my question basically is "will this be possible with so many Budget Scenarios with the same GL Accounts" my feeling = not but if someone can point me in a workaround this will be much appreciated.

Hi Kurt Walters,
Your feeling is correct. The whole idea to use one company for different legal entities may not work at all. Only if they are really only branches that do not need separate statement, it is ok. In this case as the budget, you have to set up all different accounts for individual account budgets.

Taxes in sales order based on regions

Hi,
Generally taxes are based on country but in my case I want to get it triggered on the basis of region in a country.
Say tax rate in a sales order for a SH(ship to party) for region A of country 1 should be 10% and if the sales order is raised for a SH of the same country 1 but different region say B then the tax rate should be 11%.
The region field is not populating in sales order anywhere so can I make use of additional field in sales order ? If yes how and if not then is there any other way I can achieve diffrent tax rates based on regions of a country?

I guess Region will already be available is Structures KOMK and KOMP in some form or the other. If required, you may add the fields using the path below:

I was thinking along the lines of get-aduser -LDAPFilter "(department=SALES France) and adding a where clause for country.
Any help would be great.

Thai region workarounds??

Hi All,
We have recently set up a UC320W with a number of SPA303 and 301 phones. Quite happy with the system although we are having a couple of problems as it seems a region pack is not yet available for us over here.
We have found that the Malaysian pack works well enough for our purpose. However there are two slighly frustrating issues and I was wondering if anyone knew of a workaround?
Questions;
1. Is there anything in the pipeline for a Thai region pack?
2. Unable to dial Thai mobile phones as 10 digit numbers. (landlines are 9 digit so no problem with Malaysian pack)
3. Time showing as Malaysian time zone so 1 hour out.

Thank you for your candid and rather blunt reply. Strangely I am now left with a sort of guilty feeling!?!
Prior to ordering the an IP voice system we done some research and as our network is nearly 100% Cisco equipment based we obviously went to Cisco. The local dealer / distributer never mentioned a thing about it not being supported.
We have already stripped out our old phone system, reconfigured our other network systems etc so just dropping this now is more than just 'getting a refund'!
After looking through other forum posts, it seems that a lot of us in, let’s say, not first world countries, are happy with using other regions and accept the fact that by doing so we will not receive full support and not have access to all functions. However it would be very helpful to allow us to make some minor adjustments such as basic customs dial plans and time zone changes. I am sure most would be willing to accept a waiver to get such assistance; in turn this would probably help in your product development?
Either way, we will still carry on using this system as it is an upgrade on our last setup.

Output Type based on Region

Dear All
We are using ZINV Output type for Billing doc. And the access sequence 0001 with one table active i.e. 08 - Billing type.
Now i want to change the title of the Invoice output from Tax Invoice to Retail Invoice based on the Region of the Delivering site and region of the customer.If the Region is same then output should be with title - Retail Invoice and if the Region is different it should be Tax Invoice. Can we maintain condition record on the basis of Region and output will come according to that.
Kindly guide me on the same.

Copy table 08 and create a new table, with fields, billing type and sales district.
Now maintain condition records based on customer sales district. Based on that in condiiton records you can edit COVER PAGE description by double click on condiiton record.
else second way is, hard code the text in ABAP print program of ZINV.

How to do data level security on users based on region

Hello guys
I currently have created a report with dashboard prompt on column "state" with a default value "CA"
Now, the requirement is to perform data level security on this report, so different users based out of different state will log in to the dashboard and this prompt will change its default value accordingly so the user will have the report on only users home state prompted, and users can't see other state data..
I have thought of creating session variables to achieve the same, but how should i set up the initialization string?
Do I need to create a new table called "user table" that stores username/password and state columns and make that user table join to the fact table in the db?
If so, how should I configure the session value so that users get filtered date based on its state location?

Here’s an idea off the top of my head (untested):
First, set up your security constraints normally using Manage…Security in the Administration Tool, so that each user can only see his/her state. Refer to the previous responses to this post for guidelines.
Then, in your dashboard prompt, for the “Default Value”, write a tiny bit of logical SQL to query the “state” column from the presentation layer. If your security constraints are properly in place, the SQL should only return one value.
To get an idea of what the logical SQL should look like, select “All Values” as the default value, then switch it to ‘SQL Results’. That will show you the basic format of the logical SQL. It’s really just normal SQL (select <this> from <that> where <the other>), but referring to presentation layer objects rather than to physical tables and columns.
Untested. Please reply back and let us know how it goes.

Results Based Search Region Order By Question

I recently setup a simple search panel. What is the best way to implement an ORDER BY clause for the search results? I know I can implement a manual search but that seems like overkill for sorting the result sets. I can't put an ORDER BY clause in the view object because the Oracle searching mechanism wraps this in a subquery and the order is no longer guaranteed.
I tried setting the 'Sort Allowed' and 'Initial Sort Sequence' for the required fields but it didn't meet all the requirements. It only sorted the first result.
This is against EBS 11.5.10 and eventually 12.1.3.

Anywhere are you trying to setQuery on Viewobject that is associated with querybean results region. If that is the case then you should use vo.setFullSqlMode(FULLSQL_MODE_AUGMENTATION)

How to convert string to date based on regional settings

How can I convert a simple string ("01/04/2003" or "01-04-2003" or "01 April 2003") to a date formatted according to the regional settings?
For example, if my regional settings is set to "dd mm yyyy", the result will be 01 as dd, 04 as mm and 2003 as yyyy.
If the regional settings is set to "mm dd yyyy", the result will be 01 as mm, 04 as dd and 2003 as yyyy

I think you have the wrong idea about how Oracle stores dates. Any date in Oracle is stored in a seven byte representation
SQL> SELECT DUMP(last_hire_dt) FROM emp_t WHERE rownum = 1;

The TO_CHAR(dt,format) and TO_DATE(str,format) functions serve to translate this internal representation into the external presentation supplied by the format. So, if you need to translate a date that is contained in a string into an Oracle date datatype, you need to tell Oracle how to parse the string.
If the string format matches your NLS_DATE_FORMAT parameter, Oracle will do this implicitly. Otherwise, you need to tell Oracle explicitly which piece is which. For example, is the string (ignoring the problem of two digit years :-) ):

Price based on Region (plant, purchasing org) in SRM-MDM

Hi! Has anyone set up pricing based on plant or purchasing org successfully in SRM-MDM 2.0? I read somewhere that this is possible (comparsion between CCM and SRM-MDM) and I have tried it but didn't work and want to find out whether anyone has ever managed to do that?

As per confirmed by SAP this function is not available for SRM-MDM.

Include Button that executes PL/SQL procedure to SQL query based region

I would like to add two columns to a SQL query region.
These columns would not be sourced from the query, but rather would be used to execute a PL/SQL procedure.
For example, I would like to have a manager approve or deny adding an additional employee to the department.
There would be one button for APPROVE. And, one button for DENY.
The PL/SQL procedure would execute to perform the required DML based upon the selected action (either APPROVE or DENY).
A sample output would look like this:
<APPROVE>, <DENY>, John Doe, Accountant
<APPROVE>, <DENY>, Jane Doe, Accountant
Is there any way to add a button to a SQL Query based report region where that button executes a stored proc? If so, what is the basic process for doing this?

Account and CC/PC are 2 different entity types. For PC and CC there is dependency. First you have to load Cost centers and then load PC.
For CC - load CC master data first. Then load hierarchy file then group file and finally assignment file.
Follow same process for PC.
GL you can load independently but you have first load group GL then operational GL and then GL at company code level,

I have a simple HTML-based form region on my page. how is it possible to display an item (i just need a bit of conditional text there, so my item of choice is the "display as"-item) among the title of the region ??
i can't use the button substitutes, so is there any workaround or am i missing something ??

i'd like to populate this item after rendering via javascript. i don't know the value (e.g. number of rows shown in a report or "this region has changed" triggered by an onclick-event), which is to be displayed, at the time the substitution is done...
I need an referencable item next to the region's title.

Is it possiable to have the fields in a report region based on an sql query be display in somthing other than a row? For example if I have a Report Region with four columns it will look something like:

This can be done using a SQL query report region with a [custom report template|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14373_01/appdev.32/e11838/themes.htm#sthref1744].
Unfortunately the documentation is not particularly helpful on this topic, and as use cases tend to be very specific, reusable solutions are rarely shared in the community ("custom" reports after all...) See [this thread|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=1569996] for a good discussion of the technique, with a link to an example on apex.oracle.com.
A response to [another recent thread|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=1012690] showed another example on page 1 of the [Online Store demo app|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/packaged_apps/packaged_apps.html#STORE], which you can download, install and examine. This uses a custom report template in conjunction with the report HTML Expression feature.
(I'm not totally clear on the display you're after: it might help to repost it using some example data rather than the abstract <Field 2, row 1 value> approach. Wrap the sample in \...\ tags to get fixed width characters that can be made to align, if that will help.)
