Bug in the table selection size

An annoying bug in Table controls (LV 8.5/Windows XP/ MacOS 10.5)
When dealing with whole rows/colums (click in the row/column header), the Table Selection Size is always wrong :
when columns are selected, the overall table size is returned,
when rows are selected, the right row number is returned, but the column number is set to 1 !..
The attached vi shows the problem.

Since this bug was a showstopper for my application, I spent some time trying to find a workaround...
Found one by accident. I don't understand why it works : it should not do anything :
Detect a mouseUp event in the row/column headers, then read the Selection start position and write it back in the... Selection start position (ie : do nothing) ! That's enough to get the right value out of the Selection size...

Unable to use the table selection in the Pages Inspector on blank wordprocessing page. What am I doing wrong?

I was trying to draw a tables with 11 rows and 3 rows as a starts to try to make address labels. Downloading an Avery template didn't work. I opened the Inspector on a word processing blank page but none of the selections worked. "Body rows" and "body columns" were inoperable. Do I have a flaw in the Pages program that came with the iWorks?

Use the yellow Table button in the tools to insert a table. With any cell in the inserted table selected, the Table Inspector an all its controls become active.

I have table region in the page. The table region has a Single Selection when created. Now I want change it to Multiple Selection on a condition check.

Create one single selection child and then add a column with checkbox component and use it for multiple selection. Based on your requirement, you can use PPR to initially hide the checkbox column and based on PPR on single selection show the checkbox column.

MVC: Where to find the model and the table select in standard BSP apps?

We are going to use MSS with the appraisal-application
which is written in BSP and 'e-recruiting'. Both applications use the MVC-design pattern. We are going to do some modifications, but are struggling a bit since MVC is a new topic for us. How is the best way to get an overview of the controllers and views and call sequences in an existing application? We have done this by debugging, but are there other ways to find the 'starting controller', etc. ?
Where can we find the model-code which reads the table-values into the internal table?
We have read a lot about how nice MVC is - how the design gives you a better overview of the application. But without any docuemtation of the design we are quite lost. What are others experiences on this?

let's see if I can answer your questions (at least partially).
The main controller is the one you normally call directly in your browser (or after some introduction pages like login etc.). It's typically called start.do or main.do (but can differ). So if you call in the browser:

just call se80, choose the application myappl and double-click on start.do. There you can get the name of the controller class (just double-click on the class name).
The standard model class is called CL_BSP_MODEL. The model classes from the application inherit from this class.

Jdev11.1.1.0.1 How can i navigate to get details of the table selected row?

i'm using jdeveloper 11.1.1.0.1 , and i want to navigate from a page containing a panel collection which contains a table with single row selection to another page contains the details of this selection. in 10g i was do that using #{row.rowKeyStr} in the from value of the buttons action listner but here this is not valid a red line appears when i write this in the from value , in the expression builder when i expand the jsp objects i can't find row node also if i expand the bindings node i can't find my attributes!! .
please some one help me to do my task .

Selection in the table

Our senerio is as follows:
We need to capture the single selection in the table.
There are three options:
1. No element in the Table(no selection).
2. single selection(one row selected).
3. multiple selection(more than one row selected).
How can we code to differentiate all these??

Missing table selection toolbar in acrobat 9 pro

Hi,
I had been using acrobat 6.0 and there was a dedicated table selection toolbar such that when i clicked it, table selection could be done anytime. But in acrobat 9, the table selection has to be done by right clicking each time. This is tiresome as my pdf document have large numbers of tables at different locations. How can i bring the tool back in acrobat 9? or is there another way round so that i dont have to right click each time?

The table icon left, but to get the same result you simply select the columns with the ALT or Shift key held down (don't remember which one). This option selects text in a region. That might do the job. Typically the ability to get the columns right depends on the table being tagged properly. That might be the issue you are having that the tags do not exist.
I just printed a PDF from an Excel page and then used the instructions in the manual to copy. It opened in a new Excel page just fine and in a column form. Here are the instructions from the manual for AA9 Pro:
Copy tables and charts
If it is not already selected, click the Select tool .
Highlight the entire table or the rows and columns to copy.
To force Column Select mode, press Alt as you drag a rectangle over the column of text.
Right-click the selection, and choose one of the following options:
Copy As Table
Preserves formatting when you copy the table to Excel. In Excel, use the Paste Special command and select XML Spreadsheet.
Save As Table
Lets you paste the table to a new file.
Open Table In Spreadsheet
Opens the table in a CSV-compliant application, such as Excel.To copy a table in RTF, drag the selected table into an open document in the target application.

Bug in the music browser?

SITUATION:
The ATV2 allows the user to browse by GENRE. The second choice in order narrow down the search will be ARTIST followed by ALBUM. In the ARTIST menu all artists are shown with tracks that match the initial genre choice. The user can either choose to either see all albums of a specific artist or choose "ALL" in order to see all albums of the entire library with just those tracks that match the GENRE choice in the first place.
BUG:
Choosing GENRE = "Score" and ARTIST = "ALL" lists ALL albums of ALL artists. There seems to be a bug in the database selection statement.
FIX:
This choice should list all albums with just those tracks that are labeled as "Score".
It is probably likely that there are other combinations that in the music browser that will have similar bugs. Anyone else with this one?

I just noticed the same thing. It works the "right" way on my 3rd generation iPod, so I see no reason why the Apple TV 2.0 suddenly broke this behavior.
I use playlists a lot, but sometimes I want to narrow down a search to a genre then look at albums. Annoying

What table column size is needed to accomodate Unicode characters

Hi guys,
I have encounter something which i dont understand and i hope gurus here will shed some light on me.
I am running a non-unicode database and i decided to port the data over to a unicode database.
So
1) i export the schema out --> data.dmp
2) then i create the unicode database + create a user
3) then i import the schema into the database
during the imp i can see that character conversion will take place.
During importing of data into the unicode database
I encounter some error
saying column size is too small
so i went to check the row that has the column value that is too large to fit in the table.
I realise it has some [][][][] data.. so i went to the live non-unicode database and find the row. Indeed it has some [][][][] rubbish data which i feel that someone has inserted other language then english into the database.
But regardless,
I went to modify the column size to a larger size, now the row can be accommodated. However the data is still [][][].
q1) why so ? since now my database is unicode, during the import, this column data [][][] should be converted to unicode already but i still have problem seeing what language it is.
q2) why at the non-unicode database, the [][][] data can fit into the table column size, but on unicode database, the same table column size need to be increase ?
q3) while doing more research on unicode, it was said that unicode character takes up 2 byte per character. Alot of my table data are exactly the same size of the table column size.
E.g Name VARCHAR2(5);
value - 'Peter'
Now if converting to unicode, characters will take 2byte instead of 1, isnt 'PETER' going to take up 10byte ( 2 byte per character ),
why is it that i can still accomodate the data into the table column ?
q4) now with unicode database up, i will be supporting different language characters around the world. How big should i set my column size to ? the longest a name can get ? or ?

Characters usually originate from a keyboard, which has an associated keyboard layout and an associated character set encoding (a.k.a code page, a.k.a. encoding). This means, the keyboard driver knows that when a key with a letter "á" on it is pressed on a French keyboard, and the associated character set encoding is MS Code Page 1252 (Oracle name WE8MSWIN1252), then one byte with the value 225 is generated. If the associated character set encoding is UTF-16LE (standard internal Windows encoding), two bytes 225 and 0 are generated. When the generated bytes travel through APIs, they may undergo character set conversions from one encoding to another encoding. The conversion algorithms use translation tables to find out how to translate given byte sequence from one encoding to another encoding. In case of translation from WE8MSWIN1252 to AL32UTF8, Oracle will know that the byte sequence resulting from conversion of the code 225 should be 195 followed by 161. For a Chinese characters, for example when converting it from ZHS16GBK, Oracle knows the resulting sequence as well, and this sequence is usually 3 bytes.
This is how AL32UTF8 data gets into a database. Now, when Oracle processes a multibyte string, and needs to look at individual characters, for example to count them with LENGTH, or take a substring with SUBSTR, it uses information it has about the structure of the character set. Multibyte character sets are of two type: fixed-width and variable-width. Currently, Oracle supports only one fixed-width multibyte character set in the database: AL16UTF16, which is Oracle's name for Unicode UTF-16BE encoding. It supports this character set for NCHAR/NVARCHAR2/NCLOB data types only. This character set uses two bytes per each character code. To find the next code, 2 is simply added to the string pointer.
All other Oracle multibyte character sets are variable-width character sets, including AL32UTF8. In most cases, the length of each character code can be determined by looking at its first byte. In AL32UTF8, the number of 1-bits in the most significant positions in the first byte before the first 0-bit tells how many bytes a character has. 0 such bits means 1 byte (such codes are identical to 7-bit ASCII), 2 such bits mean two bytes, 3 bits mean 3 bytes, 4 bits mean four bytes. 1 bit (e.g. the bit sequence 10) starts each second, third or fourth byte of a code.
In other ASCII-based multibyte character sets, the number of bytes is usually determined by the value range of the first byte. Bytes below 128 means a one-byte code, bytes above 128 begin a two- or three-byte sequence, depending on the range.
There are also EBCDIC-based (mainframe) multibyte character sets, a.k.a shift-sensitive character sets, where a sequence of two-byte codes is introduced by inserting the SO character (code 14=0x0e) and ended by inserting the SI character (code 15=0x0f). There are also character sets, like ISO-2022-JP, which use more complicated byte sequences to define the length and meaning of byte sequences but Oracle supports them only in limited number of places.

HTML select size attribute on iPad

The HTML select size attribute specifies the number of visible options in a drop-down list. The example below will show all four entries on the drop-down, however nothing was shown in iPad.

The reason that Mac OS Safari displays 4 items in the example you cite is because the minimum number of items in a selection list that Safari will display is 4. If you try the following example where size is set to 5 and there are seven list items you will see that Safari does, indeed, support the size attribute (with the lower limit of 4).
Here 5 is specified as the size and only 5 items (of the seven given) will be displayed.

So it does not work. It only appears correctly if you want to display 4 or more in the dropdown box.
As an aside, is this a Safari standard way of implementing the select tag with the size attribute? If so, maybe Safari users should rethink their bashing of Microsoft IE for implementing non-standard functionality. I'm not suggesting that you participate in that activity and I thank you for testing and explaining this Safari quirk.

PDL table selection

SAP Business One Print Layout Designer.
In Properties, Content Tab, Source Type Database.
How do I select additional tables. When I select the dropdown arrow and I do not see the table I want, I wasnt to select a new table.
I did this before, but do not remember. For example in the Vendor Check Register Report, I want to print the BP Name instead of the BP code. In the table selection I want to add the OCRD table to select the BP Name

Is it possible to change dynamicaly VC table view size (width/heigth)?

So the question is: Is it possible to change dynamicaly Visual Composer table view size?
Particularly I'm interested in changing table-view height; the objective is not to use table-view paging option, instead to show all returned data rows at once.

I would say there is atm no possibility to change the table view size dynamicly, because you can't input a formula into the size field so the size is fixed as you enter it.

just wondering what is better to use the table selection (using new then singleSelection in the context menu) or to add an original massageCheckBox and connect it with the item already created in the view ???
my table contains records already retrieved from the database and the user when selecting the checkbox the whole record is enabled and when updating the record this record is updated in the database when pressing the ok button

Reading your original issue, you should always make use of framework provided components if they are available. The simple reason is that they are tuned as per the framework and saves from extra effort of coding, maintaining the custom pieces.

Detail Table Not Changing When Master Table Selection Changes

Using JDev 11.1.1.6.
I am working through some Oracle tutorials (Storefront Demos).
I am accessing the Fusion Order Demo (FOD) schema.
I have created VOs based on BCs for Categories, Subcategories and Products.
I have added all to my data model and tested functionality using the AppModule. This works as expected.
When I drag the Subcategories onto my jsf page as Master-Detail (Table-Table), the initial list is based on the first index of the BrowseCategory data control.
When I click on another row in the master table, the detail table refreshes but the same data appears.
I confirmed that the selection changes on the master table.
I added a button on the page and checked the BrowseCategoryIterator using some backing bean code and the iterator remains on the first record.
I checked the SelectionListener on the table and it is set correctly as   "#{bindings.BrowseCategory1.collectionModel.makecurrent}"
Does anyone have any idea why the detail table is not getting updated based on a relationship to the master table?

Hi,
From what you are saying:
     1. it's working in application module tester
     2. you verified the current row of the iterator and you found that it is stuck on the first row
The problem is then that the selection in the table is not setting the current row in the iterator.
Try to add a custom selection listener where you just execute the "#{bindings.BrowseCategory1.collectionModel.makecurrent}" expression. this is just to make sure that the listener is being called.
Also, the problem might be that the current row is correctly set by the table selection, but later in the life cycle it is being reset. so maybe you can also overwite the methods that set the current row in your VOimpl (again by jsut calling the supper) to check if and when these methods are called.
