BUG? Query Builder Fails in IE 9
I'm using a hosted setup with Application Express v 4.1.1.00.23
The query builder works with Firefox and Chrome but when I try it with IE9 (9.0.8) the bottom frame doesn't respond to the upper frame (like selecting columns). When I press Run the results pane reads "Please enter a valid Query".
Greg
All,
This appears to be bug 13825002, which was fixed in APEX 4.2. To verify, please log into apex.oracle.com, and see if it reproduces there.

Possible bug: Query Builder deletes comments in Worksheet?
Good morning,
with Oracle SQL Developer 3.2.20.09 with included JDK on Windows 7 32 bit, we loaded a sql file containing a query with some comments (beginning with -- or /*).
We formatted the sql code with the automatic format tool without any problem.
But when we added or modified some criteria in the Query Builder, after saving the file the comments lines in the Worksheet are gone.
Thanks for reading and best regards.
Marco - ItalyHi Marco,
Please note that SQL Developer has included a Query Builder from a third-party since the 3.0 release. I will ping the developer that acts as liaison; perhaps you will get a more definitive response. Until then, you may consider the response to one bug I logged concerning some complex SQL the Query Builder's parser did not properly handle:
Query Builder is a visual environment targeted at novice/intermediate users. There are a number of advanced and/or hard to visualize language features that are not supported.*
Perhaps the use case of opening an external SQL file (potentially large / complex / with comments) may go beyond the intended usage of interactive development for the novice/intermediate user.

2 Bugs - Apex 4 - Websheets & Query Builder
Hello,
Just to make someone from the Apex Dev team aware if they aren't already.
I've come across what i think is a bug in Websheets where if you create a data grid or interactive report and then save a Named Copy of the report (so that the select list appears at the top of the report/grid with the saved report names). When you then click on any of the drop down menus like Actions, Manage, or any of the drop down tabs at the top of the page (Page, Data, Annotations, Administration) the background of the menu goes transparent making it really difficult to read the options in the menu if there is some text behind it.
If you then delete the saved report so that you just have the one version, and refresh the page the problem dissapears. I've only found this issue when using Internet Explorer 8 (not sure about earlier versions), as far as I am aware this doesn't happen in Firefox or Chrome.
Also if you log into Apex using Google Chrome and go to the Query Builder under SQL Workshop. If you click and add a table with quite a few columns (10 or more) the scroll bar is missing down the right hand side which means there is no way to select/view all of the columns in that table.
Thanks.Better make that 3 bugs.
Create a data grid from spreadsheet data. There must be a very small limit on the data you can actually upload using this thing, I just tried to upload 50 rows of data containing 12 columns (not exactly a massive amount). The data is a fictional list of employees, I have pasted the tab delimited data below.
It fails, but rather than giving an error message like "Too Much Data" it just clears out the text area and says "Data Must Be Provided". Also it doesn't seem to say anywhere what the limit on pasted data is.
I'd really appreciate it if somebody could respond to this ticket to let me know that these issues have been acknowledged.
Thanks.

Tables not in Query Builder table list bug?
In HTML DB version 1.6.0.00.87 we have tables defined in our schema in our workspace. When we create a view and click on the [Query Builder] link, no tables are in the drop down list for our schema. Why? The schema is there. I can go into the SQL Workshop and query the records our of the tables, but they are not listed in the [Query Builder].
I tried this same function but with my workspace at htmldb.oracle.com. The tables in my schema are listed there.
Is this a bug that was fixed in version 1.6.1.00.02?There is one schema assigned to the workspace. That schema is listed in the pop-up window. Here are the steps I am doing:
1.) Click on SQL Workshop
2.) Click on Create Object
3.) Click on View
4.) The correct schema is listed in the Schema field. There is only one schema in the drop-down list for the Schema field.
5.) Click on [Query Builder]. A separate browser window appears with the correct schema. There is only one value in the drop-down list for the schema. "- Select Table -" is in the TABLE field.
6.) I click on the TABLE field to get a list of tables for the schema. Only "- Select Table -" is listed. No other tables are listed.
I can cancel the Create View and return to the main page of the SQL Workshop. I can click on Tables to see what table are available. I select the correct SCHEMA and see the list of tables.
I tried this in the same version of HTML DB (v 1.6.0.00.87) in a different database ie. a different HTML DB repository and received the same results, missing tables in the pop-up page
I do not know why the tables do not list in the [Query Builder] for the Create View. -
Bug in Application/Query Builder?
I created an SQL query using the query builder in 10g. It didn't work. I pasted the same query into SQL Commands. It worked. I pasted the same query into the Application Builder. It didn't work. (By didn't work, I mean it gave me 500 rows of a 2000+ row view.) Has anyone come across this before? For the life of me, I can't figure out what's going wrong.
Hi
I think, it isn't a bug.
Per default all tabular forms are limited by 500 rows.
You see at the end the message "row(s) 1 - 15 of more than 500"

Possible bugs when adjusting column width in Query Builder
Good morning,
we use Oracle SQL Developer 3.2.20.09 with included JDK on Windows 7 32 bit.
When we open a sql file, in the Query Builder the criteria columns don't auto-adjust accordingly with the length of text present in the columns.
Also, if we modify or type a new criteria in a column, and immediately after drag the column header to widen the cell, the cell content is erased (if we click first in another cell the problem doesn't occur).
Thanks for reading and best regards.

1.5.4 Query Builder Bug?
I was testing the Query Builder with SQL developer version 1.5.4. It seems to have problems when trying to add the same table twice to the query.
Example was to use the employees table from HR schema to create a query showing employees and managers. When clicking the second time on the employees table then the query builder did just "hang" there indefinitly.
Did I miss some important step like giving alias names to the tables? There's an accepted enhancement request for this at the Echange. Go vote to add weight for future implementation.

Can Execute Report But Fails in Query Builder
I'm running into an odd issue...
I've inherited a report that was built using Visual Studio. It's going against an Analysis Services cube and the query is in MDX.
For some reason, when I view the query in Query Builder and attempt to execute the query, it throws an error. I then cancel out of Query Builder and cancel any changes. Now if I actually run the report, it runs just fine. Users have verified that the results
are correct.
I've never seen this before! I've attached the query and the error message:

Query builder bug in outer joins ?
I understood that if you were joining two tables A and B, the following was a
LEFT OUTER JOIN
SELECT A.COL, B.COL
FROM A, B
WHERE A.ID = B.ID (+)
ie: a LEFT outer join has the (+) on the Right-hand table.
However, query builder puts the (+) on the Left-hand table.
Same for a RIGHT outer join - I think the (+) should be on the Left-hand table, but query builder puts it on the Right-hand table.
Cheers,
Andrew
(running Version 2.1.0.00.39)Hi Andrew,
I just played a little with the query builder and created a join between two of my tables:
PROJECTS and ACTIVITIES, linked via KCC.
When I create a left outer join in query builder, I get the following result:
select "PROJECTS"."KCC" as "KCC"
from "ACTIVITIES" "ACTIVITIES",
"PROJECTS" "PROJECTS"
where "PROJECTS"."KCC"(+) ="ACTIVITIES"."KCC"
Which is correct: Left refers to the first table in the from clause (ACTIVITIES) and places the (+) on the other table!
Left and right refers to the order of tables in the from clause, not in the where clause. Query builder sorts the tables in FROM alphabetically, maybe this is differing from the graphical order in query builder.

Query Builder - sort order causing ORA-00979 error
Hello,
I'm having an issue with the "sort order" clause in the query builder tool when using a function on the same column.
I've build a simple query in the gui and the following statement is displayed in the SQL Window
select "DEMO_ORDER_ITEMS"."ORDER_ID" as "ORDER_ID",
sum(DEMO_ORDER_ITEMS.QUANTITY) as "QUANTITY"
from "DEMO_ORDER_ITEMS" "DEMO_ORDER_ITEMS"
group by DEMO_ORDER_ITEMS.ORDER_ID
and if I add a sort order of "1" on the quantity field, the following query is changed to
select "DEMO_ORDER_ITEMS"."ORDER_ID" as "ORDER_ID",
sum(DEMO_ORDER_ITEMS.QUANTITY) as "QUANTITY"
from "DEMO_ORDER_ITEMS" "DEMO_ORDER_ITEMS"
group by DEMO_ORDER_ITEMS.ORDER_ID
order by DEMO_ORDER_ITEMS.QUANTITY DESC
When running this query I get an error
failed to parse SQL query:
ORA-00979: not a GROUP BY expression
It is quite obvious what is wrong with the query but I don't know how to get the query builder tool to generate the correct statement. The order by clause should be order by sum(DEMO_ORDER_ITEMS.QUANTITY) DESC.
I've tried to do some searching and haven't found much documentation on this issue. Any assistance is appreciated.
Thanks,
TonyWhile this statement is generally certainly true and should also be remembered, it is not really helpful for the specific case.
I think the behaviour described is a bug. However this might be one a little difficult to solve. The user unfortunatly can't influence much of the query builder results directly.
Either put 1 into the order by clause or use the column alias name without table alias name ("QUANTITY" only).
My personal solution would be NOT TO use any sort criteia in the query builder. This makes sense in so far as the generated SQL is often basis for some report. If that is an interactive report you won't add a sort order anyway. This is a layout thing and layout will be handled by the end user itself. he can choose whatever sorting he wants.

When I create an EJB Transport Business Service, after selecting the jar that has the EJB 2.1 artefacts (Remote, Home, etc) the oepe plugin fails and can't continue.
As I understand it seems that there is a problem with the classpath of ant build.xml that oepe creates inside folder /tmp/alsbejbtransport/ to compile the bs and generate the wsdl. I checked if tools.jar is in the classpath (in eclipse) and is included, so I can't figure out wich is the problem.
I found this in Oracle, but not helps solve the problem:

Build Fails for Alsaplayer in ABS
Hi all,
I couldn't get alsaplayer to run in GUI mode, but I found this thread that had the answer: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=42168. So I followed the ABS wiki's directions for setting up ABS and I tried to run for alsaplayer (with the one line change in the PKGBUILD) , but the build fails after configuring. Here's the full console output:
aclocal.m4:14: error: this file was generated for autoconf 2.61.
You have another version of autoconf. If you want to use that,
you should regenerate the build system entirely.

I figure it's those 2 errors in the middle of make that are holding it up, but I don't have a clue how to fix it.
thanks,
progrockIf you know how to write a patch or feel like learning, put one together, file a bug report, and submit the patch with it. If you don't feel like writing a patch, just submit a bug report that says that app/ContolSocket.cpp needs "include <climits>" to build. Either way is good.

Executable build failing with no error message with smtp email VIs
I have a VI which I want to build into a .exe which will be used as an HMI for a real-time system. I am using the SMTP VIs to text/email me various notifications about the system state. The main VI works fine if run but will not build into an .exe. The error message comes back blank so no help there (LabView 2010). If I just simply disable the portion of the code in the HMI.VI which contains the email VI code, the application builds. I searched for anwers and was unable to resolve the problem. Any ideas? Do I need to include anything in the build that is specific to the LabView SMTP VIs? I'm new to building .exe's so I appologize for any rookie mistakes I may have made.
Thanks.mikeporter wrote:
You said you searched for answers (on the forum?).
Yes.
What did you find?
I found a bunch of topics on email send errors after the application was built but nothing related to .exe building failures (related to the SMTP/email VIs). I also found topics dicussing the bug that fails to report an (any) error during the .exe build (for 2011). The solution was to install the service pack. if that's my problem then I will have to go through the motions to get that done (corporate computers / lack of persmissons and such).
What have you tried? This question has been answered many, many, many times.
I tried what I stated in the OP. If I disable the portion of the code which contains the email SMTP VIs, the application builds, otherwise, the build fails and no error code or description is given.
PS: probably has nothing to do with the SMTP drivers, per se.
If the answer has been given many, many times, then I appologize for not being able to find it before posting. Trust me, the last thing I want to is waste my time fishing for answers on the forum, especially when I get a response from forum members who would rather point out that my mis-identified problem has been answered many, many times, rather then just helping me out. -
Unable to load Query Builder component
Hello,
When I try to refresh a report in Crystal Reports 10, it displays this error message:
"Failed to load database information."
"Details: Unable to load Query Builder component."
Then, when I try to register querybuilder.dll, RegSvr32 gives this error:
"querybuilder.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found."
Any ideas?
Thank you in advance for your help.Graham,
Thank you for your reply.
This is a new install.
As my PC's administrator, I tried as you suggested. However, I am still getting this error message when I try to run an existing report:
"Failed to load database information."
"Details: Unable to load Query Builder component."

I am new to SSRS and I am trying to migrate reports from 2008 to 2012. As I have so many reports to migrate, I simply got the back up of ReportServer,
ReportServerTempDB, and Encryption Key and restored them to test environment. I made necessary configuration from RS configuration tool. I am able to see the reports now when I browse //hostname/reports. But when I open any particular report I am getting some
error.
· An error has occurred during report processing.

Does anyone have insight on this? or any better way that I can migrate the reports to new server with less efforts.
I don’t have the reports solution file to deploy the reports, so I have followed backup and restore process.Hi Kishore237,
According to your description, you migrated some reports from Reporting Services (SSRS) 2008 to 2012. Now you get error when accessing the reports on SSRS 2012. Right?
In this scenario, did you modify the report data source in database after migration? You can try to open the report in Report Builder or Report designer and check the report dataset. If you can preview the report in Report builder or Report designer,
please try to redeploy the report to Report Server. If it is still not working, please try to restore the database from backup. And for migrating reports, please follow the "Content-Only Migration" in the link below:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143724(v=sql.110).aspx
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.
Best Regards,
