I just bought my HP Mini 110-3700 (LV831PA#UUF) last january. I just tried using the HP camera twice to check if the image it captures is clear. Yesterday, i will use the camera for a video chat but the messenger said "Cannot detech the camera/ device is not connected). When I had clicked the link for the HP Camera it had open but the light indicator didn't have any light and the camera isn't working.
I already tried restoring the HP mini to factory settings but after that, the camera isn't working still. What should I do? Need help ASAP.
    Thank you!

Hi, I have a client coaching session scheduled through skype and my camera is not working.  Please, does anyone have suggestions? I've downloaded the latest version of skype from the skype website. My computer software is updated.  The camera is working for Face Time. I've gone into "preferences" under "Skype" and clicked on audio/video.  The video has only one option: "Built In iSight".  I'd appreciate any help.  Thank you!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I had read this solution on other forums, but it did not solve my problem. (I rebooted before opening skype, had nothing else running, and still got the "video is turned off" error message.) I am putting my solution here for those unlucky ones whose problem is not resolved by the easy solution above.
I had this exact problem, suddenly, two days ago. I see from Skype forums and Mac forums that this is a very common problem. I spent 2 hours on Skype chat support (two different calls) with no luck. The technicians had not heard of the problem (!) and just kept saying try doing a clean install (uninstall and reinstall) which I did and didn't work. Finally, I copied an old version of Skype from a different Mac and copied it to my new computer (over-writing the latest version of Skype) and POOF! Problem solved. Clearly it is a glitch in the newest version of skype. If you are lucky enough to have an old version of skype on another computer, or a friend who has an older version: (1) copy your skype.app file from your other mac to a thumb drive, or email it to yourself--somehow get it to your new computer--and copy it into your applications folder. It will say you already have this file--overwrite? Say yes. Problem solved. (2) do NOT select "update automatically" as a skype option. If you do, you will always be among the very first to be derailed by a new bug. Let other suckers work through those problems. (3) when you DO update skype, before you download the new version, change the name of the previous version to something like "skypeJanuary2011" or "skypeOldVersion" so that it does not get over-written by the new version. Then if the new version is buggier than the old one, you can always go back.
Skype needs to offer older versions on their website for problems like this, but I don't think they do (?).

  • Built-in iSight not working with Skype

Hi, I have an iMac Intel Core with Built-in iSight, and ever since I've upgraded to Snow Leopard OS, my Skype does not recognize my webcam- when I select the "Built-in iSight" option, it says it is in use by another applications, and when I select the "Built-in iSight (leopard)" option, it's just a green screen.
I've tried reinstalling, updating, and calling Apple. My friend uses Skype on Snow Leopard with a MacBook Pro 13'' and his works fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,

For any iSight trouble, start with Apple's http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
If your iSight problem occurs in more than one app and more than one user account, the reset suggested there often restores proper function of inbuilt iSight.
However, if after carefully following all the suggestions in the "How to Troubleshoot iSight" article, your built-in iSight still does not work, and if it does not show as a USB device in your Mac's System Profiler, yours is most likely a hardware problem. In that case, contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.
If Skype is your only problem app, you can get help for Skype specific questions here:
      http://www.skype.com/help/guides/
Skype even has its own dedicated forum for help from Skype users: http://forum.skype.com/
For any Skype questions or problems, you will probably get faster and better help from the Skype users or Skype Tech Support. Search or post in the appropriate Skype Support area.
If you still cannot find what you need, check https://support.skype.com/search_first/
    before contacting Tech Support: https://support.skype.com/support_selection
Of course we will be happy to try to help with Apple questions here in Discussions.

  • Built in iSight not working wiith Skype!

I have googled all over and tried everything. I ve even seen this question being asked here before but no solution has worked for me yet.
I was using skype and isight just fine until I was unable to hear audio in Quicktime for one of my videos. So I try to download and update and ended up losing audio to ALL my videos. I believe thats when the problem started and skype could not detect any camera being attached.
So I deleted Quicktime. Unistalled it and reinstalled it. I also downloaded the svid codecs I had before and I also installed Peruvian.. which I didnt have before.
The skype video is still not working. I have repaired disk permissions as well and checked for updates, even reinstalled skype but it still says no camera attached when i click on preferences.
Please someone out there.. is there a solution??
Its probably a codec thing with quicktime but WHAT is it??
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
P.S. Isight is working fine in photobooth. I even tried yahoo chat and even that doesn't show any camera attached..

    Welcome to Discussions, mahat
For possible benefit of new Mac users, unless you are an OS X expert, it is not generally a good idea to manually delete files outside your documents folder except on specific advice from a trusted authority.
The above being said, with the application and system files you say you have added and deleted, let's start with the easiest possible fixes first.
If you do not have a current backup of all important files, do it now!
After you have the backup, if merely restarting your Mac does not correct the problem, try all relevant suggestions from:
      http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
If you need help creating another user account for testing, see
      http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8235.html
If your iSight problem occurs in more than one app and more than one user account, the reset suggested there often restores proper function of inbuilt iSight.
If all your apps work properly in a different user account but some still give trouble in your normal user account, your customary user account has been corrupted somehow. The fix for that is to stop using (but do not delete) the old account and make the user accounts that works your new default login account.
If the problem for every app that gives trouble is exactly the same in every user account that you test, your problem is in your system or application software. If this is the case, post back and tell us:
      (a) which software apps you tested
      (b) which work properly
      (c) which do not work correctly in some way, and
      (d) list all problems for each that doesn't work properly (i.e., no sound, no camera, etc.)
If you do not resolve all your problems while you are following the above suggestions, we will offer specific suggestions for your remaining symptoms based on the details in your response.

  • ISight Camera not working with Skype

    Hi,
2 days ago my kids were skyping and everything was fine, then I turned off my iMac and the next day Skype wouldn't use my iSight Camera. In the settings it shows that it is using the iSight Camera but not picture! I made an update from skype but it didnt help. I restarted my computer, reinstalled skype nothing.
I am not a big pro with computers, so if you have an explanation, PLEASE be detailed in your explanation.
    Thanks
    Lucy

I know this is an older thread BUT I've been dealing with this issue for the past four days and this is what I found... (perhaps if it helps another person....)
Assuming you've already checked while on a Skype video call that your camera isn't turned off...
    FIRSTLY
Open Skype Preferences to verify your settings.
(prob in your downloads, applications folder or on your desktop)
Then at the top your screen, next to the Apple Icon you should see Skype:
Select Skype, then scroll down to Preferences.  Verify settings.
(Mine, for example, under the "Calls" Tab was set to autoanswer so I can check on
my dogs while away and tell them to get off the couch!)
    SECONDLY
Make sure another apple app isn't hijacking your camera.
Open Finder, Devices, Applications, then look for IChat
Once open, Select iChat and scroll down to preferences.
(For my settings, I don't use IChat SO I changed the "default IM application" to Skype,
    under General settings tab.)
    Select the green Audio/Video Tab
and uncheck "Open IChat when external camera is on"
    THIRDLY
I verified that all other Apps using the camera weren't open.  My insight camera worked
when I opened Photobooth,  IChat, Facetime and ICamSource (a monitoring program)
    - just didn't work with Skype!
From Desktop, go to Apple Icon, select "Force Quit Finder", then scroll down and
close everything that uses the camera.
    FINALLY
From Desktop, go to Apple Icon and select Restart (pic same as above).
Upon restarting, once the screen blanks out hold down the following keys all at once:
Option, Command and P and R keys.
For me, I heard the computer "restart song" chime twice before letting go.
    (PRAM and NVRAM settings)
    http://http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
I tried a Skype video call from an Iphone to Mac Desktop and it went through just fine!

  • FaceTime camera not working with Skype

Recently I've had trouble with my Facetime/iSight camera not playing nice wth Skype.
The camera works fine with Photobooth and Facetime, but if I try a video call in Skype, I just get the spinning graphic. Doesn't matter how strong the connection is. Until recently, I could get Skype to recognise the camera in the video preferences tab, but now nothing, just blank.
I've tried installing a plugin from Skype that's meant to fix the problem, but still no luck.
    Any ideas appreciated

For Skype specific problems like this, search or post in Skype's dedicated forum.
Also, your OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2) is out of date. Restart Mac, repair disk permissions, and apply the OS X Mountain Lion Update v10.8.5 (Combo).  Repair permissions again immediately following the restart that completes the Combo install.

  • Isight camera not working with skype on Win 7 Bootcamp

So I was happily running windows 7 (need it for work) on my MACBook (mid 2009) with Bootcamp 3.2 until a couple of weeks ago.
I updated something (either Skype or Bootcamp, etc) and all of a sudden, my iSight camera takes like 4-5 seconds to initialize, and the frame rates on the camera with Skype are like 1 new grab every 10-15 seconds.
    Anyone run into this before?
    Thanks,
    Wes

  • Why is my built in camera not working in ichat? (but it is working in photobooth)

In Ichat I there is usually a video button in the top right corner of my buddy list, but there isn't one anymore, just a telephone. When I clicked on the telephone it said, "This computer does not support video chats." Which is ironic because my camera is built in...

    Hi,
Check the Video Menu in iChat.
The Camera Enabled items should be ticked (Selecting it toggles the tick On or Off depending on current state).
    Check the View Menu.
This should have the Show Video Status item ticked.
In the iChat Menu itself go to Preferences > Video section.
Here the Bandwidth limit should be at least 200kbps (the Default is NONE).
IF all those seem in order or you don't have proper access to those places then do a PRAM reset. Shut down the computer. Restart it holding down Apple/CMD (or ⌘)+ALT( ⌥)+P+R Keys until you have heard three Start Up Bongs.

  • Samsung Integrated Camera not working with Skype

    Hi,
I have a Samsung ES7000 series TV with an integrated camera.  When using the Skype app, this initially works for approximately 1 minute but then a message appears on the TV saying “Connecting USB Camera and Mic”. This results in getting disconnected from the video call.
I have contacted Samsung on a number of occasions and after performing a number of checks without success to fix the problem, they suggested that this is probably a Skype app issue and I should contact Skype.
Could you please help resolve this issue?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I wonder about the message, which is "Connecting USB Camera and Mic".
Did you have a software upgrade for TV?
At that time, did you unplug the power cable by force?
I recommend "please do a upgrade software of TV"
The upgrade is through the Network.
You can see the upgrade button at "Main Menu --> Support --> Software Upgrade --> Online".
    IMPORTANT.
After upgrading TV, it will be automatically reboot.
Please, Don't power off until finishing upgrade by force.
    I hope your success!!
    Thanks.

  • Why does my camera not work for Skype?

I downloaded Skype from the app store but for some reason my camera does not turn on.  I have seen several responses on other various forums.  I guess part of my problem is also the fact that I am not as technically sound as others and I get lost in the verbage being used.  I tune out when the dialogue response gets too long.

in sted of using the Skype app from the app store i would do it munualy from the website. befor using the camera though on some apps or websites it should/might ask you to use the camera you will need to enter the password (if you have on) and click yes its a small box looks like something from windows. Hope that helped let me know if you have any further questions!!

    See this thread:

    FIX:
    1. You need Time Machine
    2. Go to folder /Library/CoreMediaIO/Plug-Ins/DAL/
    3. Copy AppleCamera.plugin to good place (usb memory stick is the best place).
    4. Go to Time machine in date that skype work fine.
    5. Change AppleCamera.plugin with file from Time Machine
    6. Restart system, Now skype need to work with camera.
    If that doesnt pass,
