Burn DVD on MacBookPro from Quicktime data file
How do I burn an mpg Quicktime data file onto a DVD
to play on a standard DVD player? Is that possible
within my MacBookPro w/ DVD burner?

Do you mean the type that will play through a TV set attached to a home DVD player? That requires files in a special format and arrangement (unless you have a special DVD player capable of playing computer format files, such as some Philips players). I haven't done much that kind of work but it is probably done with imovie or FinalCutPro or something like that in the Mac world. There's also a few free applications that do very, very limited application of that kind of DVD authoring.

Problem with ArrayLists and writing and reading from a .dat file (I think)
I'm brand new to this forum, but I'm sure hoping someone can help me with a problem I'm having with ArrayLists. This program was originally created with an array of objects that were displayed on a GUI with jtextFields, then cycling thru them via jButtons: First, Next, Previous, Last. Now I need to add the ability to modify, delete and add records. Both iterations of this program needed to write to and read from a .dat file.
It worked just like it was suppose to when I used just the array, but now I need to use a "dynamic array" that will grow or shrink as needed: i.e. an ArrayList.
When I aded the ArrayList I had the ArrayList use toArray() to fill my original array so I could continue to use all the methods I'd created for using with my array. Now I'm getting a nullPointerException every time I try to run my program, which means somewhere I'm NOT filling my array ???? But, I'm writing just fine to my .dat file, which is confusing me to no end!
It's a long program, and I apologize for the length, but here it is. There are also 2 class files, a parent and 1 child below Inventory6. This was written in NetBeans IDE 5.5.1.

Its a dumb question, but with NetBeans how do I find out which reference could be null? I'm not very familiar with how NetBeans works with finding out how to debug. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.The IDE is com-plete-ly irrelevant. It's all about the source code.
Do you understand anyway when and why a NullPointerException is been thrown? It is a subclass of RuntimeException and those kind of exceptions are very trival and generally indicate an design/logic/thinking fault in your code.

Sqlldr - can you skip last row from a data file
Hi
I need to skip last line from the data file when I load the data into the tables. Is that possible to do using sqlldr, if yes How?
Also, the first row in the data file, which has a single column needs to be loaded into all the rows of the table. How can i do that?

The first line needs to go into all the rows, and the last row needs to be skipped. Remaining can be loaded normally. I think this would take multiple loads. Can anybody please help.

Events or attributes triggered by data coming from a data file
Without using scripts, is there any way to have rectangles or textboxes act on values coming from a data file? If not, does anyone know or have some scripting suggestions to do that. For examplle if the value in a textbox was greater than 10 coming from a data record, could the textbox change color, or any other attribute to make it change from record to recortd as it is being viewed or printed?

HELP ME! Creating a table from a data file

I'm writing an application for data visualization. The user can press the "open file" button and a FileChooser window will come up where the user can select any data file. I would like to take that data file and display it as a table with rows and columns. The user needs to be able to select the coliumns to create a graph. I have tried many ways to create a table, but nothing seems to work! Can anyone help me?! I just want to read from the data file and create a spreadsheet type table... I won't know how many rows and columns I'll need in advance, so the table needs to be dynamic!

How to read from 2 data files ?

Looking for sample PL/SQL package in importing data from flat data files into Oracle. Possible using the UTL_FILE.FOPEN and UTL_FILE.GET_LINE functions ?
SQL Loader is tailor-made for importing data from flat-files.
There's way less code to write and it is usually faster than coded approach so this may be better solution for you, depending on details of your situation.

You would be better to use an external table and then remove duplicate data using SQL as you query the data to insert it to your destination table. -
Want to record edit and burn dvds of videos from canon camcorder what is the best way
what is the easiest way to transfer recordings from my canon camcorder hd to dvds after editing. The new imovie does not have idvd on it to burn dvds.
I'm assuming you're editing in iMovie? If you still have an older retail version of iLife, you can use that to install iDVD - I am using it with mavericks. Or, the retail 09 and 11 iLife disks are still available at some online resellers. The best thing out there still is iDVD with its customizable menus, themes, etc. However, there are other options for just burning: one good ons is Roxio Toast; then there is the free app Burn (basic I'm told, but works). Or google for others. Personally, I'd get iDVD.
The new iMovie (or the older versions) did not have iDVD built in - it's just a link to the iDVD application. FWIW, I prefer to use the older iMovie versions because they have more quality options to choose from when exporting. With the new iMovie, choose to export to file and choose your recording size and then you can drag that file into a burning app (or iDVD if you get it). -
How to burn DVD with project from iMovie ?
Last year I had made several iMovie projects on a macbook pro. I was unable to burn them to a dvd so I ended up transfering them to a Windows computer and using ImgBurn and I successfully made playable DVDs.
I know have a Mac with Yosemite and I just finished a iMovie project. I need to burn it to a playable DVD. I've spent hours researching and trying to find a way. I have Video_TS and Audio_TS files, an iso file, and a mpg file. Surely, if you are able to create a "movie" there must be an easy way to burn it to a DVD?
If a Superdrive is able to burn DVD's shouldn't there be an option somewhere?

I do not have iDVDI solved my own problem. After two full days of trying and having multiple videos files (iso, mp4, mpg,video_ts, audio_ts,etc) I was finally able to burn a playable DVD! I ended up using miDVD to burn it. I first exported my iMovie project as a file and opened up the Movies file and dropped it in there. From there it showed up in the miDVD program and it was super simple to get it burned to a dvd that works in dvd players and on my mac.

Use of PL/SQL to populate table columns from XML data file
I'm trying to find the easiest way to transfer data from a flat file that is in XML format into a traditional Oracle table. Not retaining the XML but actually map an XML element to a column so standard SQL, Forms, Reports, etc can access like it was created using a Form.
Example: Table A has column names Tom, Dick and Harry and the XML file has elements Tom, Dick and Harry and I just want a function that maps and inserts/loads the data into Table As individual columns.
The process needs to be easily initiated by an end user. The user gets the XML data file via an email attachment and needs to do something like a Concurrent Request to pull in the file and load it. Using PL/SQL would be great.

I am using the syntax (below) but it gives PL/SQL: ORA-00902: invalid datatype

I was wondering if anyone else encountered a similar problem, and knows what we may have done wrong. Since we dont understand why this piece of code is throwing this ora-00902 errors occasionally not always.
Also, if we restart the database up once this errors occurs it appears to stop throwing this ora_00902 error for a lenght of time. Then it comes up with the ora-00902 error again (why?)

Menu-text in burned DVD is different from original
I have created a simple menu consisting of a row of ten buttons. Each button has a persons name in it. All the ten names/buttons are aligned. In the simulator everthing is OK but when I play the burned DVD the row of names is not aligned anymore and the space between different words in 1 button are different from the original as well. How do I change this?
sometimes duplicate fonts can re-format themselves this way when different version with the same names are used. If resolving duplicates in font book doesn't do the trick, I'd recommend using photoshop instead of DVDSP to create the menu

Import Outlook Express from only data files
I am working with a person who recently bought a new Mac. She has a complete backup image of her old hard drive saved on DVD but she has already gotten rid of the old Mac. On her old Mac, she used OS 9 and Outlook Express for E-mail. She had several hundred messages saved that she wants imported into Mail in OS X. However when I go to import the Outlook mailboxes, Mail says "Outlook and Classic will be started." Is it actually necessary that I install Classic support, install Outlook Express inside Classic, and drop in the data files, simply to import the mailboxes? The messages are obviosuly contained in one file named "Messages" in the previous /Documents/Microsoft Userdata/Identities/Main Identity folder - the "Messagse" file is somewhere along the lines of 200MB in size. Also, what will I do when Intel macs start to hit the streets that can't even boot Classic in the first place? Are there other OS-X only ways to import Outlook Express data files into Mail?
Before going for any third party utility, I think you should try the free Outlook Express basic repair kit provided by Microsoft, which include:
Deletion of temporary internet files
Compacting all folders
Re-register Outlook Express and its libraries

How to get a data element's value from the data file while bursting
For faxing bursted data into rightafx, I need to first burst my invoice data file into numerous pdf files in the filesystem, and then use the rightfax function of the delivery manager to send those files to different faxes. Integration with rightfax is not available in the bursting engine.
While bursting the xml data file based on invoice number, I need to get the fax number that is different for each invoice in a java variable so that I can use it to pass fax number information to rightfax. Is it possible?

Need help loading data from Excel data file to oracle tables
i need to load an Excel spreadsheet to Oracle table.
The spreadsheet contains 20 columns, the first 8 columns contains basic info, but the rest 12 columns contains info like
1stQtr_08, 2ndQtr_08, 3rdQtr_08, 4thQtr_08
1stQtr_09, 2ndQtr_09, 3rdQtr_09, 4thQtr_09
1stQtr_10, 2ndQtr_10, 3rdQtr_10, 4thQtr_10
So what i need to accomplish is:
break that one record(with 20 fields) in Excel to 3 records for each fiscal year in the Oracle table, so each record in the database table will look like
8 basic field + fiscal_year + 1stQtr_08, 2ndQtr_08, 3rdQtr_08, 4thQtr_08
8 basic field + fiscal_year + 1stQtr_09, 2ndQtr_09, 3rdQtr_09, 4thQtr_09
8 basic field + fiscal_year + 1stQtr_10, 2ndQtr_10, 3rdQtr_10, 4thQtr_10
There are about 10000 rows in the data file, so how can i use sqlldr to perform such task? beside sqlldr, any other good suggestions?
thxExternal Tables is just an Oracle API for sqlloader. If you going to load this data over and over again, External tables would be a good idea, but if it's a one time thing, sqlldir is simpler, unless you just want to learn how to use External Tables.
I used to run a data warehouse, so I have done, at least similar, to what you are doing in the past.
