Business Object Infoview very slow on my PC

We are using BO XI3.0 on a Windows server with an oracle database on a unix platform.
We have build severall dashboard for data analysis, each one with "interactive metric trend" and multidimensional queries analysis.
We found Infoview very slow to display the performance data and also to run and get the multidimensional queries data. Keep in mind that the DB is not big (less than 100 K of row)
The users are using windows Internet Explorer version 6 for accessing Infoview.
Are there any requirements on the client site such as required RAM or specific version of Java ?
Is there any tool for analysing the infoview performance ?

Can you try increasing you Client Side java virtual memory by setting up following variable.
JAVA_OPTS = -Xmx512m
Also, Check your server performance, It should have enough space on the drive on which BO is installed, also do check memory, you can shutdown unrequired servers, like Dashboard,PM,Desktop INtelligence, Crystal Reports, if you are not going to use it.

some basic checks:
As already suggested check: Are the server running and enabled in CCM ?
Can you open the CMC ?
Can you open your report in CMC?
Can you open other reports in the CMC ?
Can you open other reprots in Infoview ?

Business Objects InfoView translation (without language pack)

Hello, everyone,
We need to translate SAP BO InfoView interface. The language we require doesn't have native BO language pack.
We discovered a bunch of .properties files, translated them, but not all of the texts was converted.
Maybe someone could give me some advices, or some ideas for solution?

Thank you for your reply. The report is using an ODBC connection to the Access database that resides on the Business Objects server. It is setup as a System DSN on that box, using the Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb, *.accdb) - as the Access db is v2007.
I can run the report on the server using this ODBC connection, and I'm assuming that when I run the report on demand in InfoView, it is using this connection as well. The problem is only presented when I attempt to schedule the report. The datasource is there as well.

Business Rules Run Very Slow

For our planning forms we use to have a Calc Script run on save - since we did not yet use business rules we would specificy all children of a certain member in the calc script so it would run multiple members thorugh the calc script. We thought BR would save our lives as we could pass just that one child through the calc script on save and have it calc just the one child with the use of a business rule with run time prompt variable of the member of form. This does indeed work, but the calc script takes 30 seconds to calc ALL children and the BR takes 56 seconds to calc just the one child. Are business rules typically a lot slower? If so, is it the passing of the variable? Is there anyway to improve performance on them? Any feedback would be great! Thanks!

Hi,
BR are essentially calc scripts, which are sent to Essbase server. Although, you can expect some delay due to web interface, the delay should not be very significant.
I think you should start by looking at the way your BR is written. Just copy the calc script to the BR and make the 1 member change to pick up parameter.

Business Objects Infoview 'cms' Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

I was recently notified that we are vulnerable to cross-site scripting. We are using Crystal Enterprise XI R2. I read that we need fix pack 3.5, however i dont know where to find it within SAP. I thought that Service Pack 3 would help but it doesn't appear available to download. Has anyone else talked this vulnerability?

Hi experts,
i checked the permissions at the PCD and everything should be fine.
But what i found out at the moment is that the Business Objects Application does try to change the Browser height and width...for some reasons i don't know.
Well and the portal does not allow this action at the portal browser / content area.
1) The error messages are window.setIframeHeigth :

Label printing problem from Business Object Infoview

Hi,
I got a problem with printing label (roll) from Zebera Label Printer. The label is designed in CR XI which works properly printing from Crystal Report XI and Zebera printer prints labels (more then one labels) without any trouble.
But the same label (report) does not get printed with all its pages (labels) from the same Zebera Label Printer using BO infoview. It prints only one page (1st label) and stops.
It seems that BO infoview takes all the labels converted in pdf as one page. Where I want that each label should be considered as single page.
Any idea?

Yes the same report is published in the BOE.
From infoview, It prints on the screen eight (8) labels in two column on one A4 size page. While I want to have each label (W=3.9in x H 2.1in) as one page printed. So that, each label can be printed as one page on label printer.
I want to print as pdf format then printing on Label Printer.

[BOXI 3.0] - Desktop Promts in infoview very slow

Hello,
We have desktop intelligence report with prompts (10) and when we refresh report we wait about 4 minutes just to select values in prompts.
In universe we deselected "Avtomatic refresh before use"....
Any suggestions ?

Hi Gregor,
You could look at the source SQL for the List Of Values int he universes. Check how long these pieces of SQL take to run, and if there is any way that they can be optimised.
To do this go to your universe, look at the object being used to build the prompt and edit it. On the proprties tab it will have an optyion to edit list of values.
One thing that I have found is that you can use lookup tables for the LOV values. For instance, if I had a customer table containing 100,000 rows and I wanted a prompt on city (50 distinct values) then by default the LOV is built from a select distinct on the 100,000 rows. If I have a lookup table with 50 rows in it and build my LOV from that it will be quicker

Business Objects XI R2 compatibility in AIX 5.3

Hi,
Our project is migrating to a new server and will require to move the Business Objects InfoView to that server. The current server has AIX 5.2 and has the WebSphere 5.1.7 . The new server has AIX 5.3 and has the Websphere 6.1.2.2..
The problem is that we can't install the Business Objects Web Component Adapter in the new server.
Is this a compatibility issue or are we missing some tools that are required?

Currently, we are running in an AIX 5.2, WebSphere 6.1.0.5, and JDK 1.4.
We are migrating to a new server.

The new server is an AIX 5.3 server with WebSphere 6.1.2.2 and JDK 1.5.
Do we need to install something on our server prior installing the Web Component Adapter on an AIX 5.3 server? We are installing the WCA of Business Objects in this server which has the WebSphere 6.1.2.2 to use the Business Objects InfoView. Our Business Objects XI R2 services (CMC, PageServer, etc) are already installed on a separate server.

Issue with EP KM integration with Business Objects

Hi,
We have integrated BOBJ with EP KM and are able to view the Business object repository (Inbox, MyFavorites & Root Folder) in KM.
The issue is when a webi document is added to My Favourites in Business object Infoview, the same is not reflecting in the EP KM. It takes around 30 mins to show the latest content in KM
Any clue on this.? While configuring BOBJ repository manager in KM, we dont specify any cache or pull mechanism to fetch the latest webi documents from BOBJ. Am I missing some configuration from portal end.?

Business Object XI R2 - DotNet InfoView is not working

I am facing a problem viewing Infoview and the Central Management Console.
I have just installed Business Object XI R2 Server on a Windows 2003 Server with .Net version 2, database is in SQL Server 2005 and when I go to Infoview or the CMC I get the message "page cannot be found".
I can however, get to the pages using the Java versions. I'm guessing this is an IIS or .Net issue - I'm using IIS v.6.
I changed the web.config file in the Web Content folder
from -

to
<customErrors mode="Off"/>
Now it is showing me the following error -

InfoView Timeout Crystal Report Server 2008 Business Objects 3.1

After two days of digging, poking, prodding and fumbling around in the dark I finally found a method (one that actually works!) to change the timeout period for InfoView. Venkat Patnaik (second message) posted an excellent procedure in a place that is not readily apparent:

Following his method, my InfoView seems to timeout after about 3 minutes. I am going to play with the settings to see if I can get it dialed in a bit more, but I wanted to post this so there is a thread with a relevant subject so people can find Venkat's excellent post. Thanks Venkat!

Wow I am getting really tired of SAP's constant broken links and moving things around. That link worked great a couple of weeks ago when I posted this message. I did some digging around for that particular thread but I was not able to find it this morning. Maybe it was deleted....
Luckily I documented my procedure for making these changes and I did not stray from Ventak's original procedure except for making paths and such specific to my environment.
Basically the timeout values need to be changed in several places:
1. Stop the TomCat server via the Central Configuration Manager before doing anything else.
2. Modify the web.xml file in each of the following directories:
C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat55\webapps\InfoViewApp\WEB-INF\web.xml
C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat55\webapps\InfoViewAppActions\WEB-INF\web.xml
C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat55\webapps\CmcApp\WEB-INF\web.xml
C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat55\webapps\CmcAppActions\WEB-INF\web.xml
Parameters to change:
***This parameter may not exist in all web.xml files.***

    <context-param>
        <param-name>logontoken.enabled</param-name>
        <param-value>true</param-value> (Change to false)
    </context-param>

    <session-config>
        
        <session-timeout>20</session-timeout>   (Change to 5)
    </session-config>
3. Modify the registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\CMS\Instances\<SERVER NAME> u2013 IdleSessionTimeout=0x927C0 (600000)
The key is a REG_DWORD value and the value is in hexadecimal. Set the timeout value to 90,000 ms u2013 1.5 minutes with the value 0x15F90. You can use other hex values as desired, 90,000 ms worked for me.
4. Restart the TomCat server.
5. Add the following command line parameter to the CrystalManagementServer parameters in the server properties window of the Central Management Console <-failovertimeout 1.5>
6. Restart the CrystalManagementServer via the CMC

Display the login User ID on Header in Business Objects XI R3.1 Infoview

In XI R2 Infoview- the login user ID is displayed on header. However In XI R3.1 infoview- displayed Business Objects Logo on the same place of the Header. We noticed that In BO XI3.1 infoview the login user ID is displayed on header. However the Business Objects logo is displayed on top of the user ID so the user ID is hidden. while Setting the Infoview Application properties in CMC (CMC>Applications>Infoview Application Properties> check Do not display logo) then it will hide the logo and then next login displays the login user ID. Could someone please confirm is it the solution with this configuration or else please help us how to display the user ID on Infoview Header.

What you did is exactly correct.
Now you did on XI-R2 and 3.1 right??, whenever you got upgrade to next release of BO version again you have to do the same changing of properties. Which should not be dynamic based on your previous changes on earlier versions.

Business Objects XI 3.1 SP4 Infoview and IE9 HTTP Status 400 - Invalid path

When I working in Infoview with IE9 32Bit or 64Bit and I right click on any object i.e Crystal Report, Folder, Webi Report etc. and select properties I get the following Error
HTTP Status 400 - Invalid path /PlatformServices/properties was requested
Has any one got a workaround or a solution for this problem.
Server - BOE XI 3.1 with SP4 running on a Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit.

Seems the issue is browser compatibility ans the below solution may work in your case
HTTP 400 occurs because of URL difference between IE9 and older versions of supported IE. To resolve this issue, this error in Tomcat will be redirected to a HTML script that applies new URL format. Please follow this 3 steps process:
STEP ONE: Solution in InfoViewAppActions Folder:
1) Go to “D:\Business Objects\Tomcat55\webapps\InfoViewAppActions” folder. This folder already has httperror_404.htm and httperror_500.jsp by default. Rename httperror_404.htm to httperror_404_backup.htm.
2) Copy and paste the attached file from InfoViewAppActions folder (httperror_400.htm and httperror_404.htm) into “D:\Business Objects\Tomcat55\webapps\InfoViewAppActions” folder. Go to “D:\Business Objects\Tomcat55\webapps\InfoViewAppActions\WEB-INF”
3) Take a backup of web.xml file and name it as web_backup.xml
4) Open the file and paste the following script after the Error 404 error handling and save.
Before:

Business Objects XIR2 Infoview login issue

Hello -
I have a typical issue with BO Infoview login screen where the system name is showing incorrectly. The value should be coming from the configuration from web.xml file but it shows a totally different name with no option to update it. I checked the windows registry and system valiarbles but I haven't found anywhere on the system. Any ideas where this value is coming from ? Thanks.

Thanks Denis. I see that the login issue has been resolved, but I noticed a different error when I login and logout from CMC. Here's the error message... not sure if this is connected to the previous one.
