Button to insert pages into a form?

I'm trying to create a multi-page form for new contacts. What I would like to do is have the PDF with only 1 initial page, for 1 contact. Then if another contact needs to be added in the same PDF, the user would click a button on the form and a blank copy of the 1st page would be appened to the pdf, and so on for a 3rd,4th,5th,..., contact.
Is this possible? I know how to use the button in forms but I can't find any actions that can achieve this effect.

With Acrobat forms, not LiveCycle Designer, you can use a hidden template to add new blank pages.

  • I have Adobe Pro 9 and I can't insert pages into a PDF created by Adobe Pro 8

I've looked at the other discussions about not being able to insert pages into a PDF, and tried all the suggestions, but to no avail. I think the problem is that the original PDF was created in Adobe 8, and I have Adobe 9. When I open the PDF in Adobe Pro 9, the security screen says that editing is not allowed, and the screen is greyed out so that I can't change the settings. When I open the same PDF in Adobe Pro 8, the security screen says "No Security".
I also checked the "Documents" screen in Edit -> Preferences, and changing the "View Documents in PDF/A" to Never doesn't help.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

That would be a question for Adobe support. Firefox does advise users when their Acrobat plugin is out of date, but the actual update is done by Adobe.

  • Help with inserting pages into a PDF form

    Hi everyone,
I used LiveCycle Designer ES for the first time to make a fillable PDF form.  The form works splendidly, but the users wish to insert PDF pages to the end of the form before submitting (using Acrobat).
I can't figure out how to allow this to happen.
I open the form I made in Acrobat 9.0 and the Insert Pages tab is greyed out.
I went back to LC and set form options to "Allow all changs except extract" and this seems to have done nothing.
When I look at the security settings in Adobe and click on Permissions Details, I see two different things.  In Docmuent Security, the security method is set as Password Security and if I open Show Details It says changing the Document is allowed.
But in the Document Restrictions Summary, changing the Document is set at Not allowed.
Probably a newbie question, but I am stumped.
    Thanks,
    Becky

    Hey there,
If you've created a dynamic form, then the PDF document is no loger an acroform, it's an XFA form. I might be wrong, but I'm fairly certain that XFA forms can't have their pages extracted or have pages added via Acrobat.
If that is the case (I'm fairly certain it is) then you have a few options:
    1) Redesign the form in Acrobat, losing the dynamic functionality.
    2) Create the form in Livecycle, and include the hidden subform that is shown on submit or button press (this would require you to know what the users want added, it would also require that the thing they're adding is always the same)
    3) Install a virtual printer, get them to fill out the dynamic form, then 'print' the via the dynamic printer.
Personally, I'd go with option 3. A virtual printer is a program that prints the current document to a file, instead of an actual printer. 'Cute PDF Writer' is a virtual printer that is able to 'print' any document to a new pdf document. The new form will not be dynamic, and the fields are made read-only (hense why they should fill it out before printing it), but you will be able to insert pages.
If you would like feel free to send me a message with any questions regarding cutepdf writer.
    - Scott
P.S. CutePDF Writer also has the advantage of being free, well-supported, and just plain awesome. =P I would suggest getting it, even if you don't need it to resolve this issue. I use it all the time.

  • Cannot insert pages into PDFs after signed with a digital signature in adobe 9

Is there any workaround that allows me to insert additional pages into a SIGNED pdf?
    Background:
Author of a form create a form that needs multiple signatures and pages appended and converts to PDF for signing. Person 1 signs it, and sends it to person 2. Person 2 needs to include additional documentation and inserts the pages before signing.
In the new version, I noticed that it changes the document security which may prevent the insert after you sign it. How do I disable this?

    Hi Bob,
You may not like the answer, but it cannot be disabled. In previous versions, when you added a page it invalidated the signature. Starting with Acrobat 9, once the PDF file is signed you can no longer make changes that effect the content of the core PDF. The change was made to protect the integrity of the signature. You can still add comments, but (without getting too geeky) comments are not part of the core PDF like pages are, they live in a separate level. Also, you can still add form data, but like comments, what you type into a form field is not part of the core PDF.
The bottom line is, we made the change to protect the integrity of the signture, and the signature protects the integrity of the document. Thus, changes to the document are no longer allowed in signed files.

Why don't you use WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT inside your "when-button-

  • Inserting pages into a multiple pdf documents in a few steps.

    Dear All,
Is there a way to insert pages from what pdf into another in a few simple steps? I know how to manually insert a page into a document  (have to pdfs open and drag and drop) but if you have 500 pdf documents you need to insert into 500 pdfs, it becomes a tedious process. I was wondering if there is anyway to do that in one step? I know you can password protect multiple docs in one step so I am sure acrobat has this functionality but I just don't know about it. Thank you in advance for your help!

Since there's only one one-page generic document to be added after each PDF file, I think you can just use the basic features of the Action Wizard without using JavaScript. I just did a quick test.
Here are two tutorials on using the Action Wizard:

  • Inserting pages into a single pdf

Got a new computer w/ Vista (boo!). Now I am unable to insert additional pages into a basic pdf.
    Example:
I scan 4 one-page documents onto my computer, which I want to merge into one.
In the XP version of my Acrobat Reader, I could open "page 1" (or whatever you want to call it), then just scroll down to "insert" from the main menu & browse for the additional pages, as long as I had saved them as PDF's. Done.
How do I do it now? I don't see "insert" anywhere. Thanks, Rick

The free Reader has never been capable of inserting or deleting pages; it does very little more than what its name implies: read PDF files. If you could previously insert pages in PDF files, you must have had some version of Acrobat.

  • How to change year once in progress of calender? or insert pages into new calender

so after a lot of hard work on a calender to give out for christmas i realized i had selected it for the 2011 year....
can i change the year of the calender now? and how? if not anyone know how to instert a finished page into a new calender?!?!?
    please help me!!

If you're using PSE9, you've run into the infamous "Calendar Year Bug".  You need to select a year one greater than what you really want -- choose "2013" to get a "2012" calendar.
There's no way to change the year and dates of a calendar.  You'll have to start over.

  • Preview Won't Insert Pages Into .PDF from File

Preview - Edit - Insert - Page from File doesn't work since upgrading to Yosemite.  Dragging and dropping the .pdf pages from one Preview window to the document in another Preview windows does not work either.  It appears that the command is executed (dragging and dropping shows the green circle with the white plus when I drop) but nothing happens.
In the end I just need to add four .pdf pages from one document to an existing .pdf document.  This function worked fine and I became accustomed to easily adding/deleting/organizing pages in .pdf documents using Preview with Mavericks.  I have restarted and shut down the computer multiple times including opening and closing preview and the documents I'm using.  Any thoughts?

    Works for me.
    Open a PDF File
Navigate to where want a page inserted.
Go to Edit ===> Insert ===> From Scanner or Page from File or Blank Page
Preview will insert page below the page.
It is not as good a tool as some other software for fiddling with PDFs but it works.

  • Insert Slider into pdf forms

I am new to building forms using Adobe and have limited programming experience.  I would like to insert several sliders into a pdf form that can be used to quantify things like symptom severity or strength of agreement and have the slider output a value that corresponds to where the slider is on the scale.  Any help would be much appreciated.

It's possible to approximate this type of control using a button and some more advanced scripting. I will usually include a hidden (or visible) text field to provide a means to include a value. But something that you can do yourself is use multiple radio buttons, to create a 0-10 scale for example.

  • Using a Button to extract pages and submit form.

I have a five page document.   The last page is a letter that gets emailed by itself.  Also want the account name and number to flood into the subject line.
I can get this to work if I don't extract the other four pages,  and use the built in submit form function in the button.  But can flood the value from the account name and number fields.
Function needed for Adobe Pro X and would probably use with Live Cycle in the near future.
    Thanks!

OK. In that case you can use something like this as the submit button's MouseUp script:
    var newDoc = this.extractPages(this.numPages-1);
    newDoc.mailDoc({cTo: "[email protected]", cSubject: "Subject line"});
This code will extract the last page of the document and then attach it to a new email message with the specified address and subject line, which you can change of course.

  • How can I re-insert pages into a PDF?

Hi- it will become obvious that I am new to Illustrator (Creative Cloud 2014 on a Mac, for what it's worth).  I am editing a brochure and when I opened the PDF with Illustrator I was asked to select a particular page on which to work.  Now that I have done that it saved as a separate page- how can I insert it back into the brochure format?  As it stands now I have the old brochure in its entirety, and an edited, single page separately.
    Thank you in advance.

If you have Acrobat Pro, you can replace the previous page with the new page and then, resave the new .pdf.  It is a simple swap.

  • Ability to add pages after making form

I have a pdf file with one form on the last page made in LiveCycle but my client needs to be able to insert pages in acrobat on their own after the form is made. They don't have access to LiveCycle...but the insert page option in acrobat is greyed out after a form is made on the pdf...is there any way in acrobat around this? Or a setting I can make in LiveCycle?

  • Insert Pages in New PDF

I have created a new empty PDF as follows:
         If objAVDocNew.Open(strCombinedPDFName, "") = False Then
MsgBox "Could not open " & strCombinedPDFName
            Return
        End If
        Set objPDDocNew = objAVDocNew.GetPDDoc
        If objPDDocNew.Create() = False Then
MsgBox "Did not create Combined PDF file.", vbCritical + vbOKOnly, "File Not Created"
ShowMessage ("Did not combine and email PDFs.")
            Exit Function
        End If
When I attempt to insert pages from another PDF, the insert fails.
         If objPDDocNew.InsertPages(0, objPDDoc, 0, lngPages, 0) = False Then
            MsgBox "Pages did not insert"
        End If
However, when I execute the above statement on a PDF that already has pages in it, not a blank PDF, then the insert works.
What do I need to do so I can insert pages into a newly created PDF?

OK, I've changed my code as follows and it still doesn't insert pages:
         Set objPDDocNew = CreateObject("AcroExch.PDDoc")
         If objPDDocNew.Create() = False Then
MsgBox "Did not create Combined PDF file.", vbCritical + vbOKOnly, "File Not Created"
ShowMessage ("Did not combine and email PDFs.")
            Exit Function
        End If
         Set objPDDoc = CreateObject("AcroExch.PDDoc")
        If objPDDoc.Open(strFileName) = False Then
MsgBox "Could not open " & strFileName
            Return
        End If
        lngPages = objPDDoc.GetNumPages
        'Add pages to new file
        If objPDDocNew.InsertPages(0, objPDDoc, 1, lngPages, 0) = False Then
            MsgBox "Pages did not insert"
        End If
    What am I missing?  Thanks!
