Buying native language software

My family have recently bought 3 iMacs (+ MBAir and ipods etc) and really enjoy using them. Our intention is to run a business from home and this hardware fits the bill for our creative aspirations. However, there is a HUGE problem for us. We live in Spain and however hard we try, we cannot buy new software in English without contacting Apple and making a special arrangement. This takes days and is on the whole pretty irritating. I would like to upgrade to Quicktime Pro but again, it is only available in Spanish through the Spanish store.
I really think Apple should consider this problem because there must be thousands of expats across the world who would prefer to buy software in their native tongue but are limited by location. Interestingly, the original software that came with my Mac is English so it must be possible.

Hi(Bonjour)!
There are usually many languages bundled with Apple software. I do not know if FCE include spanish.
The specific language you choose when you buy the software set the language for packaging and paper documentation.
The users have 2 ways to set language for application.
First, use the international pref panel and drag the desired language on top of the list (as suggested earlier in this topic). Your mac will use this language. All application (like QT player in your question) will use this language.
The second way is to select the application icon and use the get infos command (COMMAND-i). From this point uncheck the undesired languages. The next time you'll start this app, this settings will bypass the system language.
Example: I use my mac in French, but I use Final Cut express in english (for forum purpose) using this tips.

  • Is there a native app/software that will get my photos all the same size?

    I know how to do this with photoshop but I'm not sure if there is any Apple native app/software that will do this for me.
    Lets say I have 5 photos of different sizes and I want them all the same size.  I know I could reduce them all in preview but that doesn't allow me to move the photo around and cut out stuff I don't want in it.  Or I could crop them in Preview but then they are not automatically all the same size.
    The way it works in photoshop is:  I open up a new project that is the same size I want the photos to be.  Let say 900x644.  Then I copy one of the photos I want in that size (lets say it somewhat bigger) and when I paste it into that blank new project that is 900x644 I can move the pasted photo around to get it so what I want to fit into that newer smaller size is there.
    Is there any way to do this without special software on a regular Mac.  I'm trying to help a family member who doesn't really want to buy or learn a complicated graphics program.  They have iLife 11 BTW but I don't see a way to do it with iPhoto.
    Thanks for any ideas you may have!
    Susan

    Use the Automator app (it's in the app folder) to resize a batch of photos:

    I just tried this and it works and is fast.

  • Apps in my hubands  native language

    I have been trying to find Apps in my husbands native language. He is Italian speaking and I am Australian English speaking. After much frustration I have found out that all App purchases are country specific due to payment. This is totally ridiculous and prejudiced. We live in the 21st century in a multicultural society and Australia has people from many nationalities. Some are competent or confident in the English language and some are not!
    Why cannot an Italian person not download I- books in his own language to read. Some books would take many years of English language training to accomplish the comprehension.
    You are biased, selfish and extraordinarily archaic in your I-tunes App Store. A credit card is able to be used internationally so what's your problem???????????

    I do not know whether either of you have research this problem!
    Apps are only available to your specific location based on country of residence! Based on payment with an Australian gift card(I-tunes card) or an Australian credit card!
    Therefore apps are available to people who live in Italy in Italian language but not to Australians! This has nothing to do with copyright if the Italian I-Tunes store sells n app to the general public!
    I can fly for more than 22 hours and buy a book off a shelf in Italy at a cost of $2,500 Australian dollars so international distribution can still apply but this is extreme for the age we live in!
    IT IS APPLE WHO BLOCK OR LOCK THE ABILITY OF AN ADULT TO MAKE A CHOICE ABOUT PURCHASING FROM AN INTERNATIONAL APPLE APP STORE SOLELY BASED ON YOUR NATIONALITY OR COUNTRY OF RESIDENCE!!!
    I am pretty sure Kindle is American........I will look up the others ......maybe google books can be accessed!
    THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP TOM

  • Firmware Update and Native Language

    Dear all, I have recently purchased a E61 (what a beauty) in Taiwan. It was pre-installed with the native language of Traditional Chinese. I found out that there was a firmware update available for my phone via the Europe Nokia website (interestingly enough, the Chinese Nokia PC Suite pointed me to that website). I am now reluctant to update my phone, because I have no way to find out if this update will erase the Chinese language software on my phone. I am not sure if the language files are part of the firmware or not. Is there a way to find out? Thank you.
    Best wishes,
    fuigo

    That depends on the "product code" of your phone. It's a 7-digit number that's printed on the label inside your phone, usually starts with "05*****".
    If you post that number here, someone may be able to tell you what languages it includes (e.g. what languages were in it when it left the Nokia factory.)
    (IMHO, Nokia should make these public and show them on their website.)
    These go to eleven.

  • Re: Native Language Support in Forte

    [email protected] wrote:
    I've been posed a question in the abstract about Forte's native language
    support. Does Forte support any languages other than C/C++? And if so,
    what are the limitations or caveats?
    Native Language Support could also mean the NLS standard which Forte supports. This
    provides for Internationalization (I18N) of a Forte application. This means a client
    application deployed in french, german, and english (for example), could all be making
    requests of the same Forte shared service and getting responses in the native language.
    We provide for changing the language/character set displayed both statically before the
    application starts, and dynamically change it while the application is running.
    If support native language support means ability for Forte to call existing application
    logic written in C/C++, then today you can "wrapper" C functions in a Forte Class,
    instantiate the class and "call-out" to the member functions (your c functions) directly
    from the 4GL object.
    C++ functions are a challenge due to cross platform C++ compiler issues which at a
    minimum include "name mangling" being non-standard for all the C++ compilers.
    However, you can "export" C++ class member functions as external "C" functions so that C
    code can call the function as if it was regular K&R or ANSI C.
    If other language support is required, I have customers on the East Coast which have
    successfully wrappered MicroFocus Cobol on HP-UX, and the ADA language. This is due to
    the concept of all 3GL languages today support the concept of allowing for their
    language to be called from 'C' (other possibilities are Pascal, Fortran, etc).
    Here the only caveat is you need to be aware of the other language's "boot-code" may be
    registering for operating system "signals" and not handling them appropriately. This
    rarely is an issue these days.
    If other language support means do we code generate our 4GL language to any language
    other than 'C++', the answer is currently "no".
    However, we do support exporting Service object definitions to environments like DCE,
    CORBA, Encinca (a TP monitor), and the WWW. In our next release we will complete our
    support for exporting services objects to Java. This will allow for Java applications to
    call upon the power of Forte's Shared Services architecture. Using this exporting
    concept, applications written in various other languages would be able to "call-in" to
    the Forte shared service from the ourside world.
    Didn't know what you were looking for. Hope the above hit the mark. If not, write me, or
    give me a call.
    Regards,
    jim

    Not exactly sure what you are asking. Can you rephrase your question?
    If your other server's locale is same as the one you configured then it should be ok.

  • UTF-8 to Native language

    Hi,
    Good Day.
    I am working on a project which require data transformation from native language to
    UTF-8 and vice-versea.
    The scenario goes like this:
    A person will enter the data on a web page in Native language (e.g Traditional chinese or Big 5)
    The data entered is stored in a database where data is stored in UTF-8.
    Does Java transform the native lanaguage (e.g big5) to UTF-16. If that is the case, it would mean my transformation is from Big 5 to UTF-16 then to UTF-8
    If not pls advice.
    I would appreciate if anyone can provide me any sample code
    Thanks
    Dexter

    Thanks. I am now able to store/retrieve UTF-8 from database (Access2K) using the following code. However, certain characters still turn out ????. Any reason why? It is part of the requirement to store data in utf-8 format.
    Regards
    -WK-
    ----------- Storing ---------------
    // store as utf-8 in database
    String data = request.getParameter("data");
    try {
    byte by[] = data.getBytes("utf-8");
    String UTF8Str = new String(by);
    PreparedStatement ps = dbConn.prepareStatement("INSERT INTO MBTest VALUES(?)");
    ps.setString(1,UTF8Str);
    ps.execute();
    ---------- Retrieving ---------------
    // read unicode characters from database
    ps=dbConn.prepareStatement("SELECT uText FROM MBTest");
    rs=ps.executeQuery();
    while( rs.next() ) {
    String uName = rs.getString("uText");
    uName = new String(uName.getBytes() ,"utf-8");
    out.println(uName + "<BR>");

  • JDeveloper9i and native language support

    I'm working on Read Hat Linux 7.3 with JDeveloper9i RC2. I wonder how I can use characters in comments, UI components e.t.c. Russian characters are displayed not properly nor in IDE code editor nor in resulting app. How can I setup JDeveloper to use native language characters?

    You can implement graphs in many, many ways, it depends on what you want to use them for. That's why the choice is left to the programmer. An easy and basic means to do it in Python and probably other languages is using dictionaries of "neighbour vertexes", which can be done without loading any module.
    If what you're searching is a general use language that implements a specific graph structure, I don't think there's any, and I would find that awkward.

  • Native Language (Turkish) character problem

    Hi,
    When I generete output in Oracle EBS's publisher all my native language Turkish characters are in unwanted format. How can I solve this problem?
    Thanks

    You need to have the Turkish character font you are using in your template, available on the server. You need to use the font manager to load it into the EBS instance.

  • Why not let the song listed in their title in their native language?

    iTunes Music Store finally come to Hong Kong, it is a long waiting.
    After I walk arround in the Music Store, I discovery that most of the Chinese song is listed in Romanization but not in Chinese. Therefore, many of our well know song are all become unknow song, and it need us to guess and click the preview to find the answer.
    So, why not list the song in their native language, , Chinese song in Chinese, Japanese song in Japanese, and not in romanization. It is too hard to identify and sreach the song to us now!

    Hi Friends,
    we are deploying the SP1 via SCCM 2012 , and the success rate is around 50 %, its a Light touch installation where user will initiate the installation via Software Center ( Web based )
    i was able to gather few errors , and this are the errors which failed during SP1 Installation 0x800f0828,
    some errors which sccm reports display are
    11171
    10008
    10021-
    17031 -
    1602 - User Cancelled installation
    113 - No more internal file identifiers available
    10070 - File handle reference is no longer available
    10050 - A socket operation encountered a dead network
    11170  - The task sequence manager could not successfully complete execution of the task sequence
    i could not find the reason for some of the errors, also i am looking for a fix/woraround if any
    Also i have noticed that in few computers the task seq failed at a place where after the sp1 installation a reboot happens and then PGP BYPASS utility is uninstalled, it did not start the PGP bypass uninstall after reboot
    is there a way to cut short the Task seq and keep it simple ?
    right now its like this
    1. checking for prerequisite : checks for OS Name and OS version
    2. installs PGP Bootgaurd Bypass
    3. System Restart
    4. Installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1
    5. Final Restart
    6. uninstall PGP Bootgaurd Bypass
