C309a Photos printing wrong-sized

Hello,
Wasn't sure what topic this fell under, so I figured I'd post here.
I have a c309a (all-in-one with fax).  No matter what program I try to print photos from they don't print the size selected in the print menu.  It's almost like the printer is set to print to pages on 1 sheet (I've checked, it says 1 page per sheet).  8x10s come out half-sized.  I tried printing some 4x6s for my daughter and 2 photos printed on the one sheet.   I have uninstalled and reinstalled the full software package.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am running Windows 7 (32-bit); printer software updated today 10/26/10; the printer is connected to my PC via USB.
Thanks!
Jamie

As a side note, when printing wirelessly from my laptop, photos print the correctly selected size... Now I'm really scratching my head...

  • 5 x 7 photos print wrong

I cannot set a photo to 5 x 7 and have it print right. The print preview shows the entire print as does the print dialog box, but when I print it out, all the edges are cut off and only the middle of the photo is printed, although it is printed as 5 x 7. It will print a custom size correctly, but not 5 x 7.
Is there a fix for this?

    Thanks for any help.

Sorry this has taken me so long to get back to. Life got in the way:)
I scanned a 4 x 6 photo into iphoto and was trying to print out a 5 x 7 to fit into a frame. There's a bit of flexibility, but I couldn't figure out what the size should be that would be approximately 5 x 7.

  • Printing Wallet-sized photos in iPhoto '08

I have a photo i took on my digital camera that I am trying to crop and print as a wallet-sized image. I have resized it to a 2x3 size, but when I go to the Print settings, the photo is massively zoomed in and i can't capture the entire image in the 2x3 space, I only get a portion of the face instead of the entire headshot. I try to edit the mask and realign and zoom out on the image, but it is already zoomed out as far as it will allow (even though there is a lot of photo not being displayed).
Is there any way to work around this? Seems odd that if i want to print a wallet photo from an image i took i should be able to scale the entire image down to fit and not have to print it as an 8x10.

Yes, I have also selected 2x3 in the print window. That is where the problem is occurring. If i leave it as standard 8x10 then I get the entire image in the photo print area. When I select anything smaller, then instead of sizing the entire image down to the new dimensions it basically just grabs that area from the larger picture and effectively zooms in on it. So instead of my daughter's entire head, i just get her nose and eye in the 2x3 image.

I don't seem to be able to figure out how to print a sheet of wallet sized photos!  Every website that I have found refers to iPhoto 11 but includes screen shots of the printing options that are not available in the version that I am running (9.5.1).  I'm at a total loss!  Any suggestions?  I've attached a screen shot of my print options page.

  • HP C4180 all-in-one, Windows Vista 64-bit, purple in photo prints out looking like blue

Driving me crazy.  School colors are purple and white.  Anytime I print a photo of our football team, the purple turns out blue.  HELP!!

I have the same freaking problem and I have this problem on two of the 3 computers I have it installed on. One of the computers is a 64 bit windows 7 Ultimate and the other is 32 bit Windows 7 Ultimate. I have a feeling that it is caused by uninstalling and reinstalling to many times or using a recovery software program, and as I know HP doesn't have a uninstall utility for the C309a series printer that uninstall everything, including the registry keys. And I'll bet that is where the problem lies. If anyone know a fix for this problem PLEASE LET US KNOW!

  • Lack of EZ Photo Print PRO on the PRO-100 ONLY

I've been using Canon printers for fifteen years, I think, so this is not so overly picky newbie observation.  For the last five years, iP4300 and 4500's, and a 9000 MK II.  All come with the Easy Photo Print EX, as does the PRO-100 printer.  Way too "EZ" for me, I can just use the built in printer dialogue boxes, thank you very much.
Not so long ago I discovered the Easy Photo Print PRO, which requires either an Adobe product, or Canon's Digital Photo Professional.   Not having a Canon digital camera, I did find a source to download the original DPP 1.0, then upgraded straight off of an EOS Canon page.
Very nice!  All of the dialogue boxes into one, or almost one screen.  And what is really worth the price of admission, the "Pattern Print."   What we old wet darkroom types called a "ring around."  Wow!  Fine tune your color profile w/o expensive profiling equipment.
So yesterday I got a new PRO-100 which added the Print Studio Pro to the DPP.  Of course I check it out.  HORRIBLE!   First, I just HATE this trend of gray text on black backgrounds.  Who thought this *&*^$% up?  Form did not follow function.  Then, all the choices, which seem to be pretty much the same as the EZPP PRO, are packed into a long slider box on the right.  Said sliders are very narrow, very hard to grab and move.
OK, I'll just no use this and continue with the EZPP PRO, right?  Wrong!  The latter recognizes both the iP4500 and the 9000, but not the PRO-100, while the new PSP sees all three printers.  Upon looking at all the current PRO printers, ONLY the PRo-100 does not list the EZPP PRO as compatible!
What's up with that, Canon?  This is illogical and really frustrating, especially for a long time Canon fan leading the charge against the Epson lemmings.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the various print programs, nothing changes.
So at this point, with my PRO-100 I'm forced to either wade through dialogue boxes or find my anger rising with PSP.   The bit of good news is that one can get a "Pattern Print" from Manual Color adjustment, "Print a pattern for color adjustment."
Rant done.  Awaiting immediate resolution from Canon.  Yeah, right.

Well, I didn't get into the Adobe, pro/con, did I? I'm such a gentleman. The only way I could hurt myself is to pay a lot of money (which I don't have to spare) for programs that just aren't intuitive to me, to look at those damnable gray print on black backgrounds eyeball breakers, and have the use and control of programs so locked down I can't make a transfer to another machine without a call to Adobe.
I'm a hobbyist, not in the graphics business, so I have lots of options. Nor do I do things because "everyone" does it, or it was the first program out there (Photoshop.)
For quick looks at files and simple things, Irfanview. For complete digital asset management, digiKam. Open source, designed by Linux users, is ported to Windows, with maybe 95% good results. If I ever started working with layers and photoshop type manipulations, there's always The Gimp.

  • Epson Stylus Photo RX680 with Bluetooth Photo Print Adapter 2 won't pair

This post describes my problem, but I couldn't reply since it has been archived:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7882399&#7882399
I am having the same issue with an Epson Stylus Photo RX680 and their Bluetooth Photo Print Adapter 2. I go to System Preferences -> Bluetooth -> Set Up New Device, click Continue, select Printer, and click Continue. At this point, the Bluetooth Setup Assistant sends me to the Print & Fax System Preferences window. I can add the printer under the Bluetooth heading. It finds the drivers and adds the printer to my printers list, but a test page (or anything else) won't print. The job is added to the queue, but it stops trying to print after a few seconds. If I go to the Bluetooth System Preferences, I can see the printer listed (for a while), and I notice that it is connected but not paired.
If I run the Bluetooth Setup Assistant and select Any Device instead of Printer, I see the printer in the list and can view the Passkey options. It is set to "Use a specific passkey", which is what I need. I have tried changing it to a different option and then changing it back, but it does not seem like this has an effect on how the printer is paired. I have never been asked for a passkey when attempting to add this printer, and I suspect that this is why I cannot print to it.
I have also tried enabling and disabling Bluetooth sharing, and this does not seem to have an effect, whether "require pairing" is checked or not. Isn't there some place where I can choose "Pair this device" once it has been discovered? I find it strange that I can connect to it but have no option to pair afterward (at least that I can find). To make the matter more complicated, the printer disappears from the device list in the Bluetooth System Preferences after about 30 seconds, so I have to remove the printer and reinstall it in order to see the it in the list again.
I am able to print to this printer using bluetooth from a Windows XP machine, so I don't think that there is a problem with the adapter. I am also able to print to this printer using USB, so I don't think that there is a driver problem. I believe (though I certainly could be wrong) that the issue is that the device is not paired. Can anybody help?
    Thank you.
    -Kyle

I was trying to find a way to use the Epson drivers because the Gutenprint drivers don't support duplexing or feeding out of the front tray on this printer, but at least this got bluetooth printing working. I downloaded the latest Gutenprint drivers (5.2.2), ran the uninstall program first to get rid of the old drivers, and then installed the new ones. I added the printer through the bluetooth heading in the Add Printer dialog, and I selected the RX680 Gutenprint driver (which was not available with the default OS X 10.5.5 installation). Once again, the printer showed up as connected but not paired in the Bluetooth System Preferences, and it disappeared from the device list after a few seconds, but printing works now. The print quality for this printer is much improved by the new drivers as well.
Bluetooth setup is mentioned in the user documentation. It's kind of a joke:
Macintosh computer: Double-click Bluetooth File Exchange in your Utilities folder and follow the on-screen instructions.
That's it. I have been disappointed with this printer on a number of occasions. If you are going to connect directly through USB, then it's probably fine. If you want to use any form of network connectivity, you had better be running Windows on any machine involved.
I'll talk with Epson support to see if I can get any further with their drivers. Since it's supposed to work, I'd like to see if I can get it to happen. Otherwise, I'll return the adapter and share the printer through a spare desktop.

  • Bug: c410b - hp photo print gadget 2.0 32bit does not have plain paper in drop down

    printer:  c410b
    os:  windows 7 ultimate 32bit
hp photo print sidebar gadget does not have plain paper in the paper type drop down and also resets itself to default if you close and re-open the gadget.
also, if i select the 'fax' bit of it...  plain paper become available.  return to the 'non-fax' bit...  it reverts to only the glossy paper types.
also tested the old 2008 dated gadget that i found buried on your ftp server.  same behaviour.
64 bit does and works perfectly.
verified on 5 machines.  latest 'full' exe used to install.  never touched the cd.
same behaviour after removing and re-installing the gadget with the download file from hp web site.
edit:  for any hp staff - online chat with your tech (who couldn't help) reference is 8590546

bump.  got an email today saying to call HP in the USA because I have the wrong printer settings.  they also quoted a c410a even though i told them numerous times a c410b.
number 1 - i'm in the UK and don't want to call USA to be on hold for an hour for some college-drop-out to tell me *i'm* wrong.
number 2 - 5 32bit machines and i went round to a different location and tried 3 more machines there.  same.
number 3 - *what* setting?  you install the gadget, click the options 'wrench' and the paper types are in there...  *everything* else on the printer works...  just not the 32 bit gadget - no plain paper available to choose and paper tray keeps reverting to photo tray.
number 4 - it works on several 64 bit machines, with the same settings.
i'm guessing a system-locale issue where the gadget doesn't poll the driver properly for UK paper sizes or something.
    any help?  anyone?

  • Graded bands on photo prints - HP 7520 Photosmart

    Hi,
I'm experienceing a problem printing photos with my new (less than 1 month old) 7520.  All my photos are printing with perpendicular bands (equivalent to the appearence when printing in draft mode) no matter what settings I choose.
To prevent the usual "go to the troubleshooting page" message, I have:
    1. Used HP Premium plus photo paper
    2. Used genuine HP ink cartridges
    3. Ran a clean cartridges cycle
    4. Ran an align cartridges cycle
    5. Changed all the cartridges
    6. Selected the correct paper size, type and print quality in the print menu.
    7. Ensured the print resolution is high enough
    8. Printed via Wireless, USB connection and USB memorystick directly connected to the printer
Have I just bought a duff printer?
My previous Photosmart 2575 could print high quality prints.  As this is the latest iteration of the photosmart range, what could be wrong?

Hello cliftos2000, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing photo print issues.  I would love to try and help you, but I do need a little information first. I am linking a few HP Support documents below that will show you how to find which operating system you are using. • Photosmart b210a photo printing has terrible colors

I just got my b210a and I'm using the cartridges that came with the printer and using HP advanced photopaper.  I'm printing through Windows Live Photo Gallery application using the highest settings available.  However the colors are off.  They're dull and have a tint to them like a slight sepia tone or like they were taken with a camera in the 70s and left in a smokers house for 30 years.  I will say that the thing prints pretty fast though.  Anyway, is there a way to fix this?  Maybe there's a better optional ICC profile I can use somewhere?

Addition to my previous post: In some other thread, it was discussed that glossy paper does not accept the pigmented black ink. I read that as that the pores in finish on the glossy paper cannot absorb the black ink.
What does that mean then? Well, it probably means that on glossy media, the Photosmart Plus does not print using black but only CMY. If you want to print in CMYK, you need to get a model that supports Photo Black, such as the Photosmart Premium. The B210 cannot produce good contrast photos because the combined density of the CMY inks just won't do. That's the problem, right there.
HP is welcome to prove me wrong. Then of course, they have to come up with another explanation as to why photos lack contrast when printed on the B210.
And it's not that the photos look faded that's the problem. It's that they clip where they saturate, and black would have come to the rescue. Photos printed on the B210 just look weird.
Lab quality photos my ass. What lab? The run down drugstore on skid row, with its 2 hour photo service and the permanent beer stain by the counter? That lab?
I wish they were clearer on this quality difference from the start. Want to print out photos to put in an album? Forget the Plus and get the Premium. Want to print photos to keep in your wallet? Then the Plus might suffice.
I tested printing on the Advanced Photo Paper set as regular paper, and it printed deep black because it used the black ink as well. However, as it's pigmented it doesn't get absorbed by the finish, instead it clogs the pores and stays on top of the finish. While it does dry, it does not fully stick and can be smudged away. It's not a solution, that's for sure.

  • Blue shade on photo prints

I am an amateur photographer and was very pleased with the photo prints of my HP officejet 6500 wifi.
However, after replacing HP blue and magenta ink units, recently (old ones were empty), the following problem occurs:
I have a blue haze on area's where it should be black/dark, mostly shade area's of a picture.
Dark brown, black, dark red, etc. all have a bluish haze and miss the original deep dark tone.
A light grey shade on a white picture turns into a bluish shade in stead of grey.
White remains white, and other colors seem correct too, though.
Initially it looks like a wrong white balance, but it is not.
Checked this on several monitors, and different PC's and prints at a photo service.
I print on HP photo paper (premium and everyday glossy).
    I use Photoshop Elements 10.
I bought new HP ink cartridges again, but the problem remains.
I tried to figure out many settings, maybe I did something wrong, but could not find anything wrong.
I tried to bypass the problem for urgent prints by strongly reducing blue with Photoshop Elements 10, then blue disappears in real blue sections, but the blue haze problem remains.
Bottom line is that I cannot use my HP printer now for printing photographs, but need to for regular presentations at a photographer community where I participate.
Who can advise me what to do, what to change, where to adjust .... ?

  • HITI photo printer

Does anyone have experience with a hiti photo printer? i have one,my power book will recognize the printer but prints the wrong size photos in iphoto. hiti does not have software for mac. Thanks

Hi, I'm still using my HITI 630PS. It's good enough for what I do ... and I was only able to change the paper sizes within iPhoto by selecting the "Advanced" button, and then choosing Paper Handling, and then Scale to fit document. And then I was only able to get to fit within the 4x6, I couldn't get it to do the full borderless printing.
However, I did have better luck within Adobe CS. I was able to control the scaling and get it to print borderless 4x6.
Now if you know how to get the printer to work over network, I'd be very grateful. I've been banging my head trying to figure it out, but I can't seem to get it to load the drivers correctly when I choose the 630PS through another computer. It only gives me the generic drivers, and the othere brand names, but the HITI doesn't appear.
I was hoping to find some help on the discussions here, but I guess not that many people use the HiTi.
Thanks for any info you may have.

  • Photo printing colour matching to older hp printer

I have a D7160 hp printer and have just acquired a C309a printer.  The photos printed on the c309a have less vibrancy of colour and when printing mountain scenes have a distinct green cast.  Compared to the same image printed on the D7160 the images look under exposed.  Most of the photos I take are used as colour references when painting in oils - this is very disappointing as I know the photo in no way represents the image taken.  Is there a way to colour correct or do I need a different ?  Also, the software with this printer - "simple home print" function in no way compares to the photsmat premium 6.1 that came with the D7160.  I am not a professional photographer but I have taken many courses. I need a "truer" colour match than I have been able to achieve.  This printer and software don't appear to be sophisticated enough for my needs unless there is a way to correct these problems.

I'm sorry I can't help you, because I have a similar problem printing to an HP AIO 7410 from Corel Paint Shop Pro, or even Roxio Photo Suite.  The colors on the screen do not match the colors on the prints.  If I spend several hours per print, I'll eventuall get there, at a great cost in paper and ink.
How does one calibrate a monitor?  How does an amateur calibrate a 7400 series printer?
Same problem, I think, as yours, but different hardware and software.
Maybe HP will start collecting complaints such as these and issue a simple step-by-step paper to help us out.
