C310A works like a CHARM on my network

I know a lot of people complain in these forums or ask for help, but this is a different append.
In the past I had purchased a C309a. It was a disaster. Our home network was a W7 (64 bit) machine, 2 XP's (32 bit), one a Pro and the other a Media Center. All with the latest SP's. Network speed is N.
The C309 didn't work at all other than a SLOW print. Could scan at the printer but not from any computer. Even tried a USB connect to one which did work, but not what we wanted. I was able to move it down to G speed and it then would print better but still couldn't scan. This was 15 months ago and I returned the printer.
There was a sale on the C310 2 weeks ago and I took a chance.
Much to my amazement it ALL works! I did have an install error ON the printer, it couldn't get an e-mail address. One phone call to HP cleared that problem up in minutes with a reset.
After the last experience I can't tell you how happy I am with this printer. I was REALLY worried as I had read other appends on the C310a here, especially with the 64 bit version of W7, but I have not seen one of those problems.

C310A wireless installation with Dell N-5010 thru Netgear WNR1000 Router. W.7x64. Negative USB/wireless connections at first. Then USB only. Wireless problem: a) Changing IP addresses. Solution: use default IP for printer. b) hp code "28": drivers not installed. Solution: W.7 does not list this specific printer on the list of available drivers. HP install disc apparently does not have drivers. C310A also called "Deskjet D-2680", so tried W.7 listing of D2600 series drivers. Negative wireless: printer spat out reams of junk symbols. Tried W.7 list for Photosmart 3100 series drivers. Success on wireless! Minor problem is wrong picture image on W.7 "Devices and Printers". Livable. Great printer, especially for photographic use (main use for me). Now if only hp and Microsoft could get together and completely solve quirks.

  • I was having problems connecting to my internet at home with my 4s.  I tried many of the suggestions.  Nothing worked.  I did not want to sit on the phone with apple etc trying to fix it.  I bought a router extender.  It worked like a charm.

I just want to let those of you who have problems connecting to home internet.  I had same problem with my 4s iphone and tried many of the suggestions here as well as on the internet.  Then I found something called an internet extender. Bought it and worked like a charm.  It was worth the $60 I paid.  No more hours of trying to figure it out.  I don't know if this will work for anyone else with this problem but if it helps you I'm happy

I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort Express base station, and computer(s).
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
Power-up the Express; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has initialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
    Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, the Express will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options.
If the above steps do not solve the problem, start over with step 1 above, but then perform the next steps between steps 1 & 2. above.
Disconnect the Express from the Internet broadband modem.
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the Express. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Reconnect the Express to the Internet broadband modem. For the 2nd generation Express, be sure to connect the cable to the base station's WAN (circle-of-dots) port.
Continue with step 2 in the first set of steps.

I bought a brand new Mac 27" desktop that came loaded with Adobe CS6. Everything worked like a charm until the hard drive, 1Tb, developed a bad sector and the Apple Store reinstalled a new one as I had extended warranty with them. They recycled the drive immediately (like a fool I didn't ask for it back to get the data off it.) But luckily I have all my data on CrashPlan. I downloaded it and it worked great except I downloaded it to the desktop and not the original location so it got squirrely. I also have an external 1.5Tb drive that I wanted to make bootable so I installed Mavericks 10.9.3 . I then went ahead and installed it on the newly installed drive too.
I think that because I have a new drive Adobe thinks I have a news computer. I bought the 27" Mac brand new from Ebay and it came loaded with software, including CS6. I have a serial number for CS6 but Adobe said it wasn't valid. (I have owned CS2, CS4 and now CS6 which came preloaded onto the Mac by the seller who told me that the software was registered to the Mac???
I am going to re-download the backup but this time to the original location (I still don't think it will work with Adobe. What can I do about this?

  • New iTunes 6.1 works like a charm, but...

I am pleased to mention that since I upgrade my iTunes about 1 month ago or so, to 6.1, it's just like the version 4 from last year when I got my eMac. My 'But' issue today is this constant need for rebuffering before the full broadcast is linked. This only happens to most stations, while others start up as soon as I open up the link. Otherwise, no matter which iTunes channel I select, it plays interruption free, otherwise other days, it rebuffers quite frequently. Any ideas to prevent this auto-rebuffer from initial launch?

I am using the latest v6.1.0.3, and now the problem of the song text not updating properly happens all the time as opposed to just some of the time. It seems blurry as the text is rendered over itself without clearing the area first and also the currently playing or selected song is not drawn to indicate this, that is, the highlighting and logos on the song list are not always updated. Additionally, in this new update, the song length bar at the top has been drawn in weird places (such as the middle of itunes) will still also being present at the top. It seems like there are tons of problems with drawing the GUI in this version as opposed to just periodic problems from older ones.
Btw, I can not find any form for providing that kind of feedback (though stated as being available at the bottom of the support pages, no form for emailing is located there).

  • Works like a charm!

There are so many complaints in these discussions, that I thought I should throw in some kudos. Having spent some 60 hours since installing the 1.1 update in reading the new manual and how to perform adjustments and the discussions and then testing this and that, yesterday I got down to some serious shooting in RAW and running the files through Aperture, and I was very, very impressed.
Though I'm based on a Powerbook, the program worked smoothly. I had few rotating balls, no crashes. Adjustments were quick. And the resulting prints were gorgeous.
Then today a series of images shot 33 years ago and scanned and imported into Aperture. Some out to Photoshop Elements 4 for work that can't be done in Aperture. The whole process was very smooth and the resulting prints were very impressive.
We've raised a number of serious issues that Apple still has to address, but the program is a pleasure to use and the bottom line is that I have a series of prints which will give me enormous pleasure and there was little fuss and bother in achieving them once I'd spent some time studying how Aperture is meant to work.

There's no issue of speed to use the 20" Cinema Display. Just plug it in and fly to the moon. The Powerbook G4 is designed to be used with this particular external monitor (and it will work with others too, but there is absolutely nothing as fine as the Cinema Display and the 20" is actually reasonably priced).
Hard disk speed makes some difference, but nowhere near as much as more RAM. Virtually every single true guru (and I am not one of these) will tell you that your biggest jump in performance will likely come from increasing your RAM.
And, with respect to documentation, version 1.1 has done the job. One of the biggest problems with 1.0 was that it came with a Getting Started book and a list of keyboard shortcuts, and that was it. There were a few FAQs at Apple's Support site. But basically you were told what Aperture could do, but left to your own devices to figure out what each slider was for and how to change the settings (how to make big adjustments, and how to make tiny adjustments). So we had to bring over what we knew about adjusting with other applications and just experiment with Aperture. Very time consuming, and sometimes very frustrating.
Now, in electronic form, accessible from the Help Menu, there's a 427-page User's Guide, and a 100+page manual on Performing Adjustments, etc. In all, there's around 700 pages of instructions, accessible immediately on screen from the Help Menu. You will see from some other threads that some of us want a printed form but Apple is not planning to make them available. So some people are spending very large dollars at a copy-shop to get a color version of the documentation, or spending hours printing out their own copies. I've decided just to try it out on screen---not nearly as good as taking a Manual to bed and reading oneself to sleep. But, when you are actually working in Aperture and you need an answer, especially on how to do fine adjustments to an image, it is very handy to have the whole book right there. I will value this feature particularly when I travel. I always take my Powerbook and I work on my images early each morning before breakfast. I have spent some 30 hours with this documentation since 1.1 was released last week, and I think it's excellent.

  • Working like a charm

Usually discussion boards only have complaints--and it's really helpful to see when others are having problems and the solutions they've achieved. But in my case I have not had a single problem with iPhone. I'm just loving it. Photos look great; album art too. I bought the phone on Monday, activated it in a few moments, and was up and running in no time at all.
Excellent job, Apple! It's clear that the developers love what they do! And the "whole experience" also means that product managers looked at the product beyond the device itself. Well done to all!!

I'm glad you like your iPhone. I love mine too! Apple did a great job, and the missing pieces will sort themselves out over time.

I have been on the phone twice today with my carrier. They reset it the first time, it worked for an hour then messed up again. They reset it a SECOND time.. It worked for 6 hours, then messed up again. I don't know if this is a software issue or what but if ANYONE has any insight, I would appreciate it greatly.

  • 5th generation AEBS not working on 2.4, but 5 network works great.

So...for 3 months, I had a very successfully connected AEBS.  I had a working and viable 2.4 GHz network running 2 iphone 4s and 2 wireless printers.  The working and viable 5 GHz network was successfully running 5 computers, 2 ipad2s and any other guest computer that would happen to stop by.
Then..one day (3 days ago), the 2.4 GHz network just stopped connecting.  The printers wouldn't work and the iphones would say that it was connected, but still operatine on 3G..then just lose the network completely and say that it was 'unable to join the xxxx Network'.
I paid $49 for apple phone support that basically had me completely reset the settings back to factory default and reconfigure..and it worked...for maybe an hour.  Then the phones dropped connection, the wireless printers never worked.  And on and on.
My genius appointment was today and the apple genius gave me a brand new AEBS..I saw him open the box..it wasn't repair stock..he took it off the shelf.  He claimed the 2.4 GHz antenna was bad and a new one would solve the problem.
I reset eveything up today....same problems.
the 5Ghz network is running fine...brilliantly.  All ipads and computers work like a charm.
I am connected through a Uverse 2 wire box..but as I said, I had a perfectly working system for about 3 months.
Just for kicks and grins, I rebooted the 2 wire box..stil no luck.
I am hoping that someone here in this vast universe of knowledge has an idea of what may be wrong...it's driving us crazy.
    Thanks in advance.

Chances are....about 3 days ago....someone near you added a new Wi-Fi setup at their house, a wireless camera/security system, or even a new cordless phone setup.
One of these devices, or another electronics device like a satellite receiver, television, etc., is interfering with the the 2.4 GHz band on your network. Unfortunately, this is a common problem with the 2.4 GHz band due to severe overcrowding of wireless networks.
For example, a few years ago, my wireless network, which was 2.4 GHz only at the time, started suffering from intermittent sudden slowdowns and complete disconnections. I tried, but could not locate a source of the interference...even changed the cordless phones to other models that did not operate on 2.4 GHz, as most cordless phones do. Changed channels, tried a different router...same problem.
One day as I was working at my desk, I noticed my neighbor....across the street....coming out of his house talking on his cordless phone, when my network speed suddenly dropped to a crawl. By the time he got to the street to his mailbox, my network crashed.
Fortunately, my neighbor is a good friend and he usually remembers to keep his cordless phone inside. When he forgets, I know exactly where he is and what he is doing....without having to even look out the window.
For more information about wireless interference, you might want to read the Apple Support document on the subject:

  • "move" command doesn't work in case of files on network

I setup a theWatchFolder fold on network as Watch Folder. This works like when the folder on network gets a file, I'm notified via email and the file should move from watch folder (which is on network) to theDestinationFolder (which is also on another network). I used "move" command for that but it copies the files from the theWatchFolder to theDestinationFolder but doesn't move. And there, script shows error "An item with the same name already exists in this location."
    global theWatchedFolder
    global DestinationFolder
    set theWatchedFolder to choose folder
    set theDestinationFolder to choose folder

    Hi H:
    Thanks for your help.
I opted the Option 1 from your script. When a file arrives in Watch Folder, the script still copies to the destination folder (instead of move) and sends email successfully, and this task repeats continuously. The script is as follows:
    global theWatchedFolder
    global theDestinationFolder
    set theWatchedFolder to choose folder
    set theDestinationFolder to choose folder
    on idle
              tell application "Finder"
set theDetectedItems to every item of theWatchedFolder
                        repeat with aDetectedItem in theDetectedItems
set a to aDetectedItem as alias
set b to (move a to theDestinationFolder with replacing) as alias
                                  if a ≠ b then
                                            tell current application
do shell script "rm -rf " & POSIX path of theWatchedFolder
                                            end tell
                                  end if
                        end repeat
              end tell
              if theDetectedItems ≠ {} then
      activate
display dialog "Files for cutout were detected and moved to => " & theDestinationFolder
                        tell application "Microsoft Outlook"
                                  set m to make new outgoing message with properties {subject:"Files For Cutout Received", content:"Hello there: Files for cutout received"}
                                  tell m
      make new recipient with properties {email address:{name:"KK", address:"[email protected]"}}
                                  end tell
      --open m
                                  send m
                        end tell
              end if
              return 1
    end idle

I have a 4 gen Time Caps. and a 2nd Gen Airport Extreme I would like to extend my TC network to use the Extreme for the purpose of having internet available to my TV box wired.  Is this possible and how to I get them to work together?
How can I get my Time Cap (TC 4 gen) to recognise my 2gen Airport Extreem (AE)
    Frank

Thanks for the info, this really helps.
Power up the AirPort Extreme for a few minutes, then hold in the reset button on the back of the Extreme for 10 seconds and release. Allow a full minute for the Extreme to restart to a slow, blinking amber light.
It might be possible to use wireless to configure the Extreme, but I recommend using a wired connection. Temporarily, connect an Ethernet cable from your Mac to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Extreme.
Click the AirPort icon at the top of the Mac's screen and wait a few seconds for a listing of New AirPort Base Station to appear. Just below that, click on  AirPort Extreme.
The illustration below shows an AirPort Express. You will see AirPort Extreme on your screen.
AirPort Setup will open up automatically and take a minute to analyze the network, then announce that the Extreme will be configured to extend the Time Capsule network.
Enter a device name that you want to use for the Extreme and click Next
Wait a minute while AirPort Setup configures things for you. When you see the message of Setup Complete, click Done.
You can disconnect the Ethernet cable that you used for the set up now. Things should be working. The Extreme is providing additional wireless coverage the the Ethernet ports are enabled. You can connect to any port that you want since they all operate the same in this type of setup.

First, grow up.  Just because YOUR phone isn't working, doesn't mean Apple put out bad software.  I've not had any difficulty, nor has anyone else I know.  And just how is Apple risking lives with Bluetooth kits not working?  It's YOUR decision to talk on the phone or text and drive.  Not Apple's.

Most CDMA phones will only work on the network they are branded to.  The carriers usually do not allow other brands of phones on their cdma networks.
