Calday YTD, MTD in Query Designer

I have to show daily sell in a company + sell value from the beginning of the month, and from the beginning of the year.
how to get YTD and MTD values for specified day i Query Designer. I know I need to create variables that will work on calday, but how to do it?
Edited by: Andrzej Szaranek on Jun 2, 2011 2:09 PM

You need to create 3 input variables on calday .
1st will be a manual input ,mandatory field for e.g. : 'year'
and other two will be customer exits and intervals one for year to date and other for monthe to date .
For Year to Date :
Data :L_year type i ,
      L_date type d .
for year to date the code should be like ,
IF i_step = 2.
        CLEAR loc_var_range.
        READ TABLE i_t_var_range INTO loc_var_range
            WITH KEY vnam = 'year'
  L_year  = LOC_VAR_RANGE +0(4).
  concatenate L_year '0101'  into  L_date.
  L_S_RANGE-LOW = L_date .
  L_S_RANGE-HIGH = LOC_VAR_RANGE-LOW
  L_S_RANGE-SIGN = 'I'.
L_S_RANGE-OPT = 'BT'.
APPEND L_S_RANGE TO E_T_RANGE.
for Month to Date :
ata :L_month type i ,
     L_date type d .
for year to date the code should be like ,
IF i_step = 2.
        CLEAR loc_var_range.
        READ TABLE i_t_var_range INTO loc_var_range
            WITH KEY vnam = 'year'
  L_month = LOC_VAR_RANGE +0(6) .
  concatenate  L_Month '01'  into  L_date.
  L_S_RANGE-LOW = L_date .
  L_S_RANGE-HIGH = LOC_VAR_RANGE-LOW
  L_S_RANGE-SIGN = 'I'.
L_S_RANGE-OPT = 'BT'.
APPEND L_S_RANGE TO E_T_RANGE.
Restrict the keyfigures of month to date and year to date with this customer exits respectively

  • How to create YTD reports in Query Designer (year over year comparison)

    Dear BW Reporting gurus,
I am trying to create a dynamic YTD report.
The cube contains data from 2010, 2011, 2012.
Let's say today's date is Feb 12, 2012. When the user runs the report, the report should contain:
    A column of cumulative sales quantity from Jan 1, 2010 - Feb 12, 2010.
A second column of cumulative sales quantity from Jan 1, 2011 - Feb 12, 2011.
A third column of cumulative sales quantity from Jan 1, 2010 - Feb 12, 2012.
I am trying to solve this by creating a Restricted Key Figure:
    For 2010:
    SALES QUANTITY restricted by:
Current Calendar year offset by -2.
0CALMONTH2 with less than or equal to (SAP Exit Variable) Current Calendar Month.
But, I am confused as to how to restrict the day so it dynamically restricts less than or equal to the current day.
    Please help.

    Hi Sourabh
As far as my understanding is concerned one data is fixed, that is first date of any year.
0DAT on 0CALDAY can give you current calender day. Now you can offset that with  - 365
Only problem I see is if the year is leap year. Then it should be - 366
To check the leap year thing you need to go for a customer exit variable.
Customer Exit would be  easy one

  • MTD/YTD reporting design, query designer

    Hi BI folks,
I have a requirement to build queries through BEx query designer that show MTD and YTD figures.  I also have multiple versions/value type built into the RKFs already.  I am wondering if there is a way to display YTD/MTD figures, without having to physically restrict them into the RKFs??, (i.e. I would like to have that time restriction sitting on top of the structure as a characteristic).
I am trying to create more flexibility for the end-user, rather that having a huge amount of selections in the structure representing a particular version and time period.
Is there some sort of hierarchy or variable definition that anyone can suggest where I can solve this need?
    Thanks.
    - BJ

    BJ,
this depends on the environment that you are using, but it is fairly simple to do for MTD and YTD.
as there are multiple variables available to be used for this, I consistently use two in the restriction (but you can play around and see what fits your needs the most).  For each structure, you should restrict on the following:
    MTD:
Period Characteristic - Restrict to variable 0P_PER3
Fiscal Year Characteristic - Restrict to variable 0P_FYEAR
    QTD:
Period Characteristic - Restrict to Value range from period 00 to variable 0P_PER3
Fiscal Year Characteristic - Restrict to variable 0P_FYEAR
The reason you should have the Fiscal Year there is that you can use the text variable to set the column headers.
Be careful that you use the right KF for this.  You need the periodic activity for the KF.  The reason Period 00 is included as that is where the balance from the prior year is carried over, so if you want to have the YTD values for the Balance Sheet, you would want to include that.  This scenario is the only option in BCS, and it doesn't have the Cumulative values.
you can also use the cumulative values, but that depends on how the KF's are set up

  • Query Designer - Variables - Replacement Path

    I need a help.
In one query I need to select some data from the current Period until yesterday.
In another query I need to select the same data, but from the current Month until yesterday.
I created 2 restricted key figures:
SEL_PERIOD restricts 0FISCPER by the variable 0FPER, wich is an exit SAP for current Period.
SEL_MONTH restricts OCALMONTH by the variable 0CMONTH, wich is an exit SAP for current Month.
Now in both RKFs I want to restrict 0CALDAY from the beginning of the Period or Month until yesterday.
I found this variable 0DAT, wich is an exit SAP for current day.
I'm trying to create an interval variable, type replacement path, with From Value not filled and To Value filled with 0DAT - 1.
But it doesn't work, Query Designer points that 0DAT is not an allowed source for the target variable.
And the documents that I searched state that "the target variable must represent a single value" and "the source variable must be input-ready".
Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can restrict 0CALDAY, for this specification ???
    Thanks in advance.

    I forgot an important point:
Sometimes I need current Period or Month, in other cases I need the same Period or Month from last Fiscal Year or Calendar Year.
No problem with 0FISCPER and 0CALMONTH, I can off-set the variables by -12.
But I would like a help on how to do it with 0CALDAY.
Example: today is 25.06.2011. In some cases I need to restrict until 24.06.2011, in other cases I need to restrict until 24.06.2010.

    Hi Ceaser,
This is a generic explanation to your scenario. Please make some changes as per your requirement. Just to give you some idea......................
We  need to manipulate u201CKey Dateu201D values to achieve required analytics.
Step 1: As a first step, create a variable on u201CSales Dateu201D (or whichever date is used for Sales Date) field (ZPDATE) with user input. It was meant to capture u201CKey Dateu201D through user entry.
Step 2: Create a restricted key figure on Sales & restrict it on u201CKey Dateu201D value to get first analytics need i.e. u201CSales on Dayu201D.
Step 3:Next step was to manipulate the value of u201CKey Dateu201D on which I could restrict u201CSalesu201D (Key Figure) again and again to get other values.
Step 4: Create a new variable (e.g. ZPUTMNTH) and assigned it to be filled up by Customer Exit. (For simplicity purposes only u201CMonth to Dateu201D value is explained below. Same procedure can be repeated to fulfill other needs. Though in code section, ABAP code is available for almost all the variables)
    Create Variable
Step 5:  Create one variable (ZPUTMNTH) for u201CMonth to Dateu201D with processing by u201CCustomer Exitu201D. This variable was created on u201CDateu201D characteristics.

  • Key date in query designer

    Hi All,
I have a requirements to read data based on t.code S_AHR_61016403 by using Trip Begins On date and filter by receipt date therefore I’m using DS 0FI_TV_01 and able to get data into Cube level correctly.
In Query designer, I have to use trip beginning date and filter by receipt date then put in MTD and YTD bucket based on receipt date.
For example, trip beginning date 01.07.2014 – 31.07.2014, could get 100 records which has different months data with total amount1500/- but based on receipt date 01.07.2014 – 31.07.2014 there are only 75 records with total amount 1000/-  I only interested total value 1000/-
I’m thinking to create a Key Date in query designer to read beginning date range and receipt date range.
Can anybody give how to achieve this.
    regards
    Naani

0FI_TV_01 is a transaction datasource. Hence your Trip begin/Enddates are transactional data. You cannot use them as part of Key date in Query designer.
One more thing, you can't use ranges in Key date. It works only with single date.
you have to either create two variables in query filter. or restrict your KF with both variables.

  • Char restriction in Bex Query Designer

    Hi Gurus,
Can anyone explain what is the use of the Characteristic Restriction Area in in the BEx Query designer
If i set 0CALYEAR =2008 in the Char Restriction and in the column definition i set the one of the column to display data from year 2009. Will it work ?
    Please advice
    Thank you
    BR

There are two type of characterstic restrcitions in the query. Global and local.
If you are createing a restrcited key figure or selection and restricting calday then it will be restricted to that particular key figure (and show 2008 data) and in the columns it will show you other years data (i.e. 2009 data).
But if you are using a global fiter in the filter tab of query designer, then it will be applicable to the whole query.

  • Group by in BEx query designer

    Hello experts,
I'm new in BEx query designer and I'm currently working on displaying the maximum of a list of values and group them by calendar day like the exemple below:
    CalendarDay
    Client
    Amount
    02.09.2014
    A
    3000
    02.09.2014
    B
    2000
    03.09.2014
    A
    1500
    03.09.2014
    B
    1600
The result I need to display is as below:
    CalendarDay
    Amount
    02.09.2014
    3000
    02.09.2014
    2000
    OverAll result
    3000
    03.09.2014
    1500
    03.09.2014
    1600
    OverAll result
    1600
What's the best solution for this ?! is it to work with calculated Key Figure or Exceptions ?! Would any one help me to get such result.
    Thanks a lot

If you need to show the data as you mentioned then i think you are suppose to keep client in rows and also you have to switch on the result row display for that characteristic.
Because if you remove it then data will get aggregated based on calday and it will become 2 records only.
To get the maximum value you have to use Exception aggregation.Create a new formula and put the amount kf inside it.Hit the aggregation tab--Exception aggregation as maximum--Reference characteristic as client.
If this does not work then we can also apply nested aggregation based on calday.

  • Query Designer restricted key figures using a prompt value

    Hallo Experts,
I would like to restrict key figures after user has beeen prompted to enter a date. I have 2 key figures:
    a) KF1, Date1
    b) KF2, Date2
User should be prompted to select a specific date: e.g. 01/2011. After selecting/entering the prompted date value, it should be given to date objects for intance Date1=01/2011 and Date2=01/2011.
How could I achieve it in Query Designer without using customer_exit function? Reason is that non-experienced users will use this report and they should not be confronted with complex query. Do you have any idea?
    Many thanks
    Mamadu

    Hi,
I assume that you need to restrict the value of keyfigures by date based on user input data on variable selection screen.
First create one user input variable on your date field say for eg calday.
Now restrict your KF1 with calday and choose that vairable which you created.
For second KF2 which seems to me need to be restricted with offset of +1 based on the date entered by the user.
So restrict this KF2 with calday and use the same variable with offset of +1
I just misunderstood you ned calmonth or day because in requirement you have given month but you are calling it as date.
If its month then replace calday with calmonth..
    Hope it helps.

  • Issue with Query Designer

    Hi Guys,
I am using 3.5 query designer.i have a requirement in a report. There is keyfigure structure developed which has key figures defined for eg Actual, target etc. This structure is is been restricted as whole by posting period ie 1,2,3 &4.so all the keyfigures will by defult display in posting periods ie 1,2,3 &4.I have a requirent to bring a new KF in the structure say forcast which has values for 1,2,3&4.Now i need another kef which compares only the target Posting period 4 value with all the posting period values of forcast. On which i will create an indicator.Could anyone help me in creating this new KF out of the structure so that it displaysonly the posting period 4 values of target. If i incude in the structure and restrict it with posting period 4,it comes up again with 4 coulmns for posting period which again makes it difficult to compare.
    thanks
    panchan

    Panchan,
I am not so clear about your requirement.
But what i understand from below question is
You have created some KPIs with YTD fiscal year period reqtriction. and used the Fiscal year period in drill down.
Now you want to create 1 KPI with selected fiscal year period restriction, but you can see this column in all 4 fiscal year period.
but you want to see that in only 4th(selected) fiscal year period.
    am i right?
if yes then use zero suppression with rows and column, as new KPI contains value in only 4th period, other 3 period will be suppressed by above setting.

  • Assigning System variables in query designer

    Hi all,
My requirement is that For a field CALENDAR DAY, i Want to set the default values so that it displays the data for last seven days from the current system date by using sy-datum. This should be done without using customer exit logic. Can anyone tel me how can this be done in Bex query designer.

    Hi Imanik,
I think using custom exit to arrive to a solution of your issue is the most efficient way as of now.
Alternatively you can write a routine in ETL Where in you can check if  Sy-Datum - 7 <= Calday, then you can have a field Flag in Infoprovider which would be populated by X in this case. Later on in Bex you can have a filter on Calday  = X. But this scenario works only when you are doing:
    1. A full load.
    2. You are running the query on the same day you are doing this full load.

can any one help me in this regard???
    SAP Reply----
    Hello kumar,
After another analysis I have to inform you about general concept of
    "compounded characteristics".
A compounded characteristic bounds two characteristics. The technical
name is generated by both technical names of the two characteristics
    combined by two underlines "__".
An individual text is only available for one single combination of both
    characteristics.
    Example:
    =======
Compounded characteristic "Famous family name" is a combination of
characteristic "COUNTRY" & "ETHNIC". Technical name: COUNTRY__ETHNIC
    Values for Country: USA, Australia
    Values for Ethnic: Asian, Latino
Possible value combinations with individual text:
    USA & Asian; text: "Ling"
    USA & Latino; text: "Sanchez"
    Australia & Asian; text: "Chu"
    Australia & Latino; text: "Garcia"
(Keep in mind the individual text only valid for the specific
    combination.)
In analogy to the issue that you reported, you want to restrict this
compounded characteristic. In the window where you select the restrictedvalue (called Selector) you'll see on the left hand side all available
combinations of the characters with an individual text.
You select family name "Chu" and drag'n'drop it to the right side.
Actually you can only restrict the right compounded characteristic. In
our example you would restrict on characteristic "ETHNIC" with value
"Asian". (When you switch on technical names this comes more clear). Thetext "Chu" is displayed in the context of Selector because you selected
value combination Australia & Asian. But in the end it's just a
placeholder(!) for any combination of characteristic "ETHNIC" and value
#Asian#; in our example it could be USA & Asian "Ling" or Australia &
    Asian "Chu").
By leaving the Selector the individual text is gone because now the
context is lost between the two characteristics. You have just a
restriction on characteristic "ETHNIC" with value "Asian". An individualtext can't be displayed because the compounded characteristic is not
    specified for this restriction.
You're right, it is confusing when "loosing" the text of a restriction.
But accoring to the concepts of the compounded characteristics it
    is a correct behavior.

    Hi anandkumar,
I belive this issue can be resolved by changing the  Query proprties for the perticular field.
Kindly check the Field proerties in query designer and ensure that Text is enabled ather than Key.
__Field property check up:__Go to query designer->click onn the field-> Right hand side in properties click on display tab-> select Text in drop down menu of Display as tab.

  • Master data is not getting displayed in the Query Designer

    Hi,
I have a DSO in which I have an InfoObject called Emp No. in the Data Field.
The Emp.No is being maintained as master with (Emp Name, Address, Telephone No, DOB) as attributes.
I have loaded the data in the Emp. No. master. Then tried loading the transaction data in DSO.
The Emp.No is there in the DSO active data, but in the query designer its not getting displayed.
    Hope its clear.
    Please help.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I have brought the Emp. No. in the Key Field and also have activate the master data again.
Yet my Query Designer doesn't have the Emp. No.
I have done a full load for both Master and Transaction.
Please advice me what the other alternative.
    Thanks

  • Error while trying to Open and Delete a BEx Query in Query Designer.

    Hi Experts,
I have been facing this issue with BEx Query in Designer mode for a couple of days now in Development Environment in BI 7.0.
I would like to Delete an unwanted BEx Query because I need to give it's name to another BEx Query.
Whenever I try to Open this Query in BEx Query Designer to Delete, it gives out an error saying:
"An error occurred while communicating with the BI server.
As a result of this error, the system has been
    disconnected from the BI server.
    Detailed Description:
STOP: Program error is class SAPMSSY1 method : UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION
STOP: System eror in program CL_RSR and form GET_CHANMID-01 - (see long text)"
    Details text is as below:
    Diagnosis
This internal error is an intended termination resulting from a program state that is not permitted.
    Procedure
Analyze the situation and inform SAP.
If the termination occurred when you executed a query or Web template, or during interaction in the planning modeler, and if you can reproduce this termination, record a trace (transaction RSTT).
For more information about recording a trace, see the documentation for the trace tool environment as well as SAP Note 899572.
I have tried with SAP Note 899572, but still it's the same.
Has anyone faced similar issue? Could you please let me know if you have better ideas or solution?
    Your time is much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Chandu

Arun - Thanks a million. You saved me Nine. It worked.
Could you also please tell me how to rename (Technical) a Query or is it still "Save the Query As" the only way...?
    Points already assigned.
    Thanks,
    Chandu
