Caller Assistant

Signed up a week ago for Call Assistant so I could get a record of a phone call to my home on a Sunday.  But still can't activate Call Assistant.  Called 6 different phone numbers at Verizon.  One said my "rep" hadn't ordered it yet.  Another said it was ordered but would need 24 hours to activate. All the rest said I needed to speak with a different department and gave me new phone numbers.  And nobody was clear on whether I could access a record of a phone call made on April 14 to my home.

  • Upgraded Call Assistant not working

The other day when I went to check the call assistant it required an upgrade so I let it run. Now when ever I get a call it does not show it as incoming nor does it show anything in the log. Does anyone know why it is not working?

heeheehee  they (verizon sales) told me that to get VCA I HAD to upgrade my phone service.
after a month of not having VCA (they confirmed it was never 'enabled' yet), I cancelled the phone upgrade because the only reason I got the phone upgrade was to get the VCA (per the sales person).   and so now I am paying for the early termination fee for the upgraded phone service that they NOW tell me was never needed in the first place.
and now my homeowners association has discontinued the cables service that is supplied-as-part-of-the HOA-assessment, so I have to decide wether I wan to pay the existing cable co or switch my TV over to Verizon . . . . . .hmmmm  do I really have a decision here?

  • Verizon Call Assistant - does it ever work?

I've had FIOS (the triple package) for nearly a month now.  Call Assistant (the desktop app) worked for a day then simply would not connect to the server.  Always get a message saying cannot connect to one of the servers.  Calling Verizon is useless.  If you survive the endless recorded prompts, you eventually get a recorded message telling you there are tech problems.  This has been going on for weeks now.  How difficult can this be?  By the way, this is in the Southern Maryland region (La Plata, MD to be exact.)  FIOS service is new here, but still it's getting a little frustrating that you can't even get information on what the problem might be.  Anyone know anything about this?

Did you install a new update for the client? As you said, there is another thread that says CA quit working after installing a "mandatory" update. I have had CA I think for just about a year (I too am retired, but from IBM, and I don't keep track of time as well as I used to), and have not received/installed any update to the client and like I say, my CA is working just fine.
I don't disagree at all that Verizon has a huge customer support problem. I think it is simply a result of trying to expand their FiOS and wireless footprints too fast, resulting in a need to find/hire/train a very large number of support reps, and they haven't been able to do that. I imagine this forum is an attempt to address this issue, and to some extent I think it works, or at least can - too many people come here to just rant, and to some extent I understand that they are mad and frustrated, but if they would just describe their problem(s) calmly and clearly I think they would be surprised how much help they could get. There are some very knowledgeable people here on the forum, customers and Verizon employees, and I think they really want to help.
I positively hate the automated phone systems of all companies, not just Verizon, I want to talk to a live person, although I really don't find Verizon's to be as bad as some other systems. I know there are lots of folks that disagree with me.....

I was talking to someone over there not so long ago and they said they was an issue withCaller IDs not showing up any more on some users accounts.
On the subject of Automated Call Distribution (ACD) systems, don't get me started.  They are the worse misuse of technology ever invented!  But, I guess in some cases it actually speeds things up but the prompts are so generic it is easy to get to the wrong support queue, be put on hold only to find out you need to be transferred to yet another queue to wait in.
But, any large corporation with so many products/services as verison, undoubtedly has more than a few call centers to distribute calls to.  Then, when you factor in state regulations and the need to get to state specific queues, I guess an ACD is required.  Good for Verizon, bad for us folks who only want to speak to a person.  That's why I try "0" when the ACD kicks off.

  • Can't set up call assistant

I've tried to register, and it says I already have the service. I try to activate it, it says I don't have the service. Any ideas?

I have a similar issue.  Call Assistant shows up as a service that I have but when I try to activate at https://www22.verizon.com/callassistant/
It says the service is not available for my phone number.  The regular Verizon customer service does not really understand the feature and referred me to a division called "IOBE?".  I will call 888-855-6555 tomorrow.

  • Verzion Call Assistant Unavailable

I tried to sign up for VCA on the website but I get an error saying "We’re sorry. Verizon Call Assistant is not available for your location."
I called support and they said that it was not available for me yet. The tech couldn't tell me when it would be available. Can anyone tell me when VCA will be available in Billerica MA?
I'd really like to be able to use features such as the voice mail email forwarding? Is there any way to get a visual voice mail notification? Are there any caller id boxes that can alert me to new voice mail messages? Can I buy any caller id box or is there a specific type of box I have to buy. I will not rent one, I hate having to rent equipment. It's a racket, by the end of the first year the rental fee has paid for the equipment and after that it's pure profit. That's why I bought my own cable modem when I was on Comcast. $50 on Newegg, at $5/month it would have been paid for in 10 months.

    Thanks for the reply.
Our town just got FiOS and according to the tech I talked to the necessary equipment hasn't been setup in the central office yet.
I don't really want to have to install software on my computers to know if I have voice mail. I want an automatic email that doesn't require anything on my end, can VCA do that? Can I get that without VCA.
None of our phones have caller id and they work fine so I don't really see a need to replace them.
We still have our old answering machine and the light blinks when there is a message, it would be really nice if we could have that same type of visual notification. I know a lot of corporate phones have the ability to turn on a voice mail indicator light and I was hoping there was some way to get this same functionality. No one is going to remember to pick up the phone and listen for the interrupted dial tone.
I use Google Voice on my Cell phone and I love getting the email with the transcription. It's nice to not have to call in. Even though the transcriptions are usually terrible they're usually good enough to get the jist of the message.
Verizon's website is such a maze, it's impossible to find anything. It also took me forever to figure out what voice mail package I even have because they have so many different options.

  • Verizon Call Assistant

So far the Caller ID  is OK except that I cannot close the application  on the pop up display so I have to close it on the bottom taskbar. Also,I am finding that the header with my name is clipped short and possibly missing some items besides part of my last name.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Your Caller ID experience mirrors mine.
I think the not closing thingy is probably on purpose, it is easy to accidentally click on the wrong icon and then you would have to restart the application if you didn't mean to close it. I have found a number of programs that seem to work the same way, so I guess I am somewhat used to that behavior. If you really want to close the application you don't need to close the pop-up first, just close it on the taskbar.
I think the formatting problem is due to the screen resolution you are using. I am using 1280x1024 and it works fine, if you are using something higher I suspect that is why it is clipping the text. I suggest you call the Call Assistant Help Desk and report that, they probably won't fix it until they get enough complaints (and by the way, I have found the Call Assistan Help Desk to be really interested in feedback on the tool).

  • Verizon Call Assistant download

I see that I have VCA included on my account, but I cannot find where/how to download the PC software.  I've searched the forums and see plenty of references to VCA and caller-id problems but nowhere do I see how to get the software.
How does one go about getting the download information?

    http://www.verizon.com/callassistant
If you are already signed up, then you probably just have to activate.
so go to that site and hit the grey activate button and follow the prompts.   if you get a wierd message that you haven't ordered it then try to simply log in to the site with your myverizon.com residential username and password.
once you're logged in, you can download the client
IF that doesn't work then you should call in, there may have been a problem with your order, if it did not allow you to activate.
give the call assistant guys a call  888-483-5156   they can help you with that

  • Verizon Call Assistant suddenly failing

VCA on the PC has benn working fine for some time now until today.  When I try to start it a Winows Installer error window pops up and says something I'm trying to use is unavailable.  After cancelling out of three of these windows a VCA window pops up saying to reinstall the Vidget Engine.  Mean anything to anyone.  Downloading VCA freshly from Verizon also runs into the "something is missing" error.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

After many attempts at updating Windows Installer and Installshield with no success, I followed the resolution by bcflynn1.  The problem was resolved and a fresh install was successful.
When using the Windows Installer Clean Up, I only removed the Verizon Call Assistant entry.  That was all that was needed.
Thanks bcflynn1 for guiding me in the right direction.

  • Verizon Call Assistant doesnt recognize logon

    Visiting the home page
    https://www22.verizon.com/callassistant
There is an option for current users to sign in.  I sign in with my standard verizon.com & verizon.net credentials which work there.  Unfortunately this page tells me:
An error has ocurred: USERID not found.[MYUSERNAME]  1001
    AccountName = [MYUSERNAME]
    Path = 0:1:2:
Where [MYUSERNAME] is obviously my account user name that we know works on verizon.com & verizon.net.
So trying something else, from that same webpage is a Get It Now button.  I click this which asks me to logon to verizon.com to check my plans.  I logon using this same logon username & password and it brings me to my billing plans.  Here it tells me I am already signed up.
Third try - on the call assistant page mentioned above, there is also an option to Activate.  I click this and enter my phone number.  It asks if I have a verizon.com user ID for which I select yes and enter my credentials.  I agree to the terms and conditions and asks me to logon which fails and gives the error message above.
Optionally on Activate, if I select I dont have a verizon.com user ID, agree to terms and conditions it asks for billing phone number.  I enter this and it tells me I already have a verizon.com user id (as expected).
Basically I think this demonstrates the Call Assistant website isnt properly integrated to logon with my verizon.com credentials.  Attempts to reach out to two different verizon support people ended with the expected level 1 inability to assist and no recourse.
I assume I simply need to software which can then logon to my verizon.com user id.  Anybody have any ideas?

  • Verizon Call Assistant Voicemail Retrieval Pass Code

Does anyone here have any experience with not being able to enter their passcode for the Verizon Call Assistant voicemail retrieval service? Here is the error message I keep receiving.
Error We are unable to sign in to your Voice Mail system due to either an invalid mailbox or Voice Mail passcode. Please check your mailbox and passcode by dialing into Voice Mail from your telephone. Then reset the passcode in the Voice Mail Retrieval Settings section. If this condition persists, please contact our Customer Support Center at 1-888-483-5156
I tried resetting my passcode to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Are you trying to access the web based Call Assistant at  www.verizon.com/callassistant ?  Were are you sure that you activated the service?  Finally, were you ever able to login, or is this your first attempt?

  • Verizon Call Assistant website login error & other issues

I have had FiOS for about a month (10/2MB Internet, TV, and phone).  I signed up for and have been intermittently able to access Verizon Call Assistant about a week ago.  If I go to http://www.verizon.com/callassistant, I get the VCA screen, and try to log in.  Every time, my login fails with an error "Blah".
If I go to http://www.verizon.com, I get a display of my services, including (only when logged in from my home), a short list of recent calls to my home.  If I click on the detail link, I get into Verizon Call Assistant automatically (no login required).  At home, I'm running Linux, so I can't run the Call Assistant program (anyone know if there's a version for Linux?)
Also, VCA does not list voicemails.  I had a call the other day which left a voicemail and purposely did not check it for several (over six) hours, to see if it would eventually show up on VCA.  The call appeared almost immediately, but the voicemail never appeared (I eventually listened to and deleted it).
    Anyone have similar experiences?
    Thanks,
    Adam

    Adam,
    1) I use this link to get to the web Call Assistant site: https://www22.verizon.com/callassistant/. Don't know if it will work any better than the one you have been using, but you might try it. I have never had a login fail.
    2) have Flash blocked on my browser (I selectively allow Flash using IE7Pro), so apparently Call Assistant does not use flash. But it may need some other service that I don't block. So the question is, do you have any graphic or script "stuff" blocked that the site might need?
    3) I am not aware of a Linux client. You don't have a Windows system at home that you can install the client on? The client needs some enhancements, but it is a start. And I too would like a Linux client, I have dual boot on both my desktop and laptop.
    4) I don't use voicemail so I cannot provide any experience or advice for that.
I suggest you contact the Help Desk for Call Assistant (1-888-483-5156). I have called them twice, right when I first started using Call Assistant, and they answered the phone quickly, called back when they said they would, and were very helpful.
Good luck, I hope you can get your problems resolved. I like having Call Assistant, although I have passed along via the Help Desk a number of improvements I think they need to make (and now we just wait and hope......)

  • Verizon Call Assistant (VCA v2.7.79) Sign-In Failure - DAILY! err!

My computer is on 24/7.  No viruses, no spyware.
Every single day when I get on my computer in the morning the Verizon Call Assistant has at least 1-5 popup windows telling me "Sign-In Failed, Please try again."
The computer is running, no suspend mode, no screen saver, drives run continuous.  (the power company loves me)
WHY is this software doing this!!?
I'm pretty good with computers and have no problems with other software.   Internet working fine, no disconnects or anything.
    1)  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the VCA
    2)  I've signed in online to the web-based VCA with no problems.
    3)  I've clicked OK on the error windows and it then signs me right in.
Is there software disconnecting me from the VCA server after a period of time of no computer use?   I can use the computer all day long and it never gives me the error.   Its after the computer sits for many hours, or overnight with no human interaction.    Again, no screen saver or "power savers".   The only thing I do is blank the monitor after 4 hours.

Yes, the constant failures of VCA have been a  problem ever since I started using the program almost 2 years  ago.  I have to turn it off at night and restart again the next day.  Running Windows7.  I think the program needs another upgrade, but VCA seems to be  supported somewhere in California and the local (MA) people know nothing about it.  It is nice when it works, but it is buggy.

  • Call Assistant on the Sony Dash

I just read about the new Sony Dash:
    http://www.zatznotfunny.com/2010-05/unboxing-the-sony-dash/
This seems like it would be the perfect type of device to have Call Assistant on.  It would be great to have this device right next to the phone and you could check your messages on it.
The big reason I still use an answering machine is that there's no way to just come in the house and check your messages easily.  It's much more time consuming to boot up the computer instead of just pressing a button to play.
I also hope to get a Droid soon and it seems like it would be great to have an app for that as well.

Has it ever worked? If not, it may be that your VHO or central office is not yet set up for it, even though the option shows in the Menu.
I have had Caller ID on TV for many months, has worked just fine on my DVR the whole time, and originally worked fine on my SD STB, but I noticed this morning that it was no longer working on the SD STB. I went into the Menu, disabled the display, then went back in and enabled it. Within a few minutes it was displaying the Caller ID just fine. You might try that if you have not already done so.
