Calling landline number in India

Hi Team, I understand that there is a restriction on Skype to phone call in India. If I have to assume, that would mean a Skype endpoint logged from India wont be able to call a landline/mobile phone in India. My question is what if that same Skype user while visiting USA logs in from there, will she be able to call the landline/mobile number in India? Thanks,-Raipankaj

  • Subscription for calling landlines and voicemail options?

I was wondering if i got a skype number if people would be able to call me and leave me messages in the same fashion as a typical landline and answering machine, and if they can is there a limit for the ammount of voice messages i can receive? Also if they can leave messages when i am not logged into skype? I need to know because I am going to be transcribing reports for a relative and he would need to leave me multiplie messages a day and he would need to be able to leave me a voice message at any time. Thank you.

    Hello Allen,
If you purchase Landlines and Mobiles subscription then both landlines and mobiles are charged the same way.
I would recommend purchasing both subscription because then when you call landlines number Skype will automatically use Landlines subscription and when calling mobiles then Skype will use Landlines and Mobiles subscription.
Keep in mind that if subscription for landlines runs out then still landlines and mobiles subscription is used. Choose the amount of minutes based on which numbers you call the most.

When I press on a land line number, the phone does not call the number, but comes up with a screen to send a text to it.  How do I get my phone to default to phoneing a landline?  When I press a mobile number in contacts, the phone automatically phones the number.  I do not mind this as I hardly ever send texts, but I would like to have the option of what to do.  This seems such an obvious issue but I can not solve it even with much web searching.  Thanks!

I can't delete my question, so I'll just say that you press on the type of number written in the box to the left of the box you typye the number into.  Dumb or what?

  • Number not appearing when calling landlines

I have a subscription for an American number with months to go, but when I call a landline in the US the number is not appearing on the caller ID like before.
This is an error that needs to be fixed.

    MatthewLieblong wrote:
Agreed.  This is ridiculous that you pay for a US local number, which works, but you cannot use it as your caller ID number.  That was half of the point of getting the online number, I never would have imagined it didn't show up as your caller ID.  So basically I can never get anyone to answer when I call because it looks like some crazy California area code and/or hidden/private/telemarketer phone number in the caller id of whomever I am calling.
THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED.  It should be default set to use your online number as your caller ID, and you could change it to a mobile number or otherwise if you wanted to afterwards.   Can someone from Skype fix this, or at least explain why?  If they don't, I will be searching for other web phone solutions when my subscriptions expire.
Skype does not automatically use an Online Number for Caller ID, since that is a privacy question best left to Skype users.  First of all, not all Online Numbers are usable as Caller ID.  Next, some users may have multiple Online Numbers that are eligible for use as Caller ID.  In that case, which number should Skype select?
If you want to access the Caller ID settings, one way to do that is to log into your Skype account here on the Skype web site.  Use the "Account" link at the top of this page, and you will see the current Caller ID settings.  From there, you can change it.  US Online Numbers can be selected as Caller ID, as can Online Numbers from a few other countries (the UK is one of those other countries).  Online Numbers from certain countries (Australia and Mexico are two of those) can't be used as Caller ID when calling telephones from Skype.

  • Using a landline number as displayed caller id

Is it possible to use a landline number as displayed caller id, instead of a mobile number?

Hi, cb10,  and welcome to the Community,
Unfortunately, no.  Skype does not have a means to verify a land line number.

I have my landline diverting to my iPhone. However, it does not distinguish whether the call has come from my diverted landline number. My old Nokia many years ago used to show an arrow symbol when it was a call thats source was diverted. I really need to know when a call has come from my landline so I can greet the caller in the appropriate way and also so I can be sufficiently short as I am getting charged for the call from my BT landline to my mobile.

That is not a feature that's available on the iPhone. Sorry.

  • Cannot call Japan landline number

For years I was able to call a certain landline number in Japan, but since about 2-3 weeks it tries to connect, no dial tone and stops.
I tried other Japanese landline numbers and they connect just fine.
If I use my normal landline I can call without problems, normal dial tone and the person picks up.
But normal landline is very expensive
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks.

  • US Number from India- Help?

Can I have a US skype number from India which I can activate and use from different parts of India?
Can my skype number be accessed from different parts of India at the same time? If so, how will an incoming call be attended?

    Hi Jitesh,
From your post I gather you are in India and you need some sort of phone for your parents that they can use to call US.
First regarding subscription, it doesn't matter where you are located. If you have a subscription that includes calls to US then you can use it to call US landlines and mobiles. Subscriptions are available here: http://www.skype.com/go/subscriptions
Majority of Skype Certified phones can be used with subscriptions and phones are available here: http://shop.skype.com/
If in your location you don't have a phones available then you can check with your local retailer if they have like for example Dualphone RTX 3088: http://dualphone.net/DUALphone_3088_for_Skype-789.aspx
This phone can be connected to router and used with subscriptions.
As I'm not from India myself it's hard for me to tell what exactly is available regarding hardware, but when you do purchase a phone please make sure it is Skype certified and you can ask from the retailer if it works with subscriptions.

  • Can I use old landline number

    Maybe some can help me.
I live with my parents in Waterford, Ireland. The local area code is 051, and I have a choice of new numbers that can receive calls. Is it possible to use our old landline number, as people may need to contact us. We are anxious to get rid of our landline, as the line rental has become too expensive.

Hi, Ege4That, and welcome to the Community,
Unfortunately, not.  Skype does not "port in" other carriers' numbers.

    Elaine

Hello and welcome to the Skype Community.
    1. Your account shows that you are calling a cellphone in Indonesia. Please note that only calls to landlines in that country are included in your Subscription. Please check your coverage.
    2. A landline is a fixed line [not a cellphone].

  • Landline Number associated with my subscription ha...

UK resident - I have a 60 minutes-per-month subscription to a relative's landline in South Africa. This person has just moved home and there is no landline available at this new home. Can I cxhange the landline number associated with my subscription, possibly with an adjustment due to cost variations between landlines and cell-phones, with his cell-phone?   -------   This subscription was renewed on 07-JUL-2013, and the second month of the quarter is about to start on 07-AUG-13....  I currently have 50 of this month's 60 minutes available - can this be used to call his cell-phone?
