Calling Verizon-to-Verizon wireless internationally

I understand how to make callsto the US or to local numbers while abroad using my global phone, but if I'm calling another Verizon cellphone in the same city (my traveling partner) what do I key in before dialing their (US) cellphone number?  For example, if we're in London and become separated, how do we call each other?
Thanks!

First, make sure you call have have international services turned on the devices BEFORE leaving. I see you have an Escapade with has a GSM option which will be required in London. Does the other phone have a GSM option also???
Now use this link for fialing instructions for countries you may visit.

  • Verizon wireless international phone is a ripoff!

Don't EVER order an international phone from Verizon wireless!  The setup is claimed to be easy but took 2 tech support phonecalls of over an hour requiring a reboot of the phone.  The roaming costs were TERRIBLY misrepresented, so don't even consider doing this.  I received a $178 roaming charge and my phone never worked in France!

The general rule is to avoid getting international stuff from Verizon unless either someone else is paying or you really need to keep your US number (and there are other ways of doing that, but not always cheap either).
If you just need to make/receive calls, you can buy unlocked basic GSM phones fairly cheaply in the US or when you arrive and get a cheap GSM SIM.  If you have a recent 4G phone, they are or will soon be global capable, and you just need to get a local SIM at your destination.  And of course there are some 3G phones that are global (Droid 2 Global, Droid 3, Droid Pro and iphone 4s among others).
Using local SIMs really saves: UK example: Calls to US 10c per minute, Verizon rate 99c with monthly charge, $1.29 per min without.  Data: 25MB for 15 cents, Verizon rate, 100MB for $25 (compared to 60c).

  • Problems with Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Tour BlackBerry OS 4.7.1.61 update:

Problems with Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Tour BlackBerry OS 4.7.1.61 update - I was anxious to download the update to see if it addressed the sticky trackball problems and the low volume issue when using a blue tooth device. However, in the process of updating my BB Tour yesterday, the install stopped on the 8th out 12 updates. After a couple of 'retrys', the BB error message on the desktop came up which instructed me to: i) disconnect the device, ii) restart the computer. iii) restart the loading process and, iV) restore my data by loading the loader back-up file using Restore. Unfortunately my Tour was left without any software and the Desktop manager couldn't recognize it. The error message on the Tour was 503. Called Verizon Wireless tech and bottom line, the only fix is a new Tour, which they're sending me. Anyone else having issues with the update? Also, does it address the trackball and blue tooth issues?

I had issues with the trackball and had to have my Tour replaced.  I was told this model does not have a removable trackball so the entire phone has to be replaced.  My current one is working OK but does stick a bit.  Seems to get worse over time.  My wife's tour is newer and so far she is not experiencing the problem.  Have not experienced a problem with the Blue Tooth volume.
I have another issue with this upgrade that I am wondering if anyone else has seen.  My wife has the Tour as well.  She was prompted to do the upgrade and went through it.  It appeared to work except it blew out her Contact Alerts.  When we put them back in we can no longer get the sound to play when she receives an SMS message in her holster. Vibration works but doesn't do any good when it is in her purse.  Phones calls, calendar alerts, alarms all work in holster.  As soon as we delete the contact alert the default SMS alert will play in the holster.  If she takes her phone out of the holster the Contact alert will play.  My phone is still running 4.7.1.40 and this function works fine.  I am thinking about trying to put her's back to my version if possible but not sure the best way to go about this

  • I have been a Verizon Wireless and FIOS customer for as long as I can remember

I have been a Verizon Wireless and FIOS customer for as long as I can remember.  The last 2 months has been the worst customer service experience I have ever had.  I own a Samsung Galaxy S4 that I purchased through the Verizon trade-up program. Initially I thought this program was a great idea for folks into technical gadgets to trade-up to the next best phone on the market.  Over the last month I have called customer service numerous times regarding dropped calls, no service, and most recently my Samsung S4 will not send or receive texts within 20minutes, it will not operate effectively with the limited apps I have on the phone and I must reset the phone 5-8 times per day to make a call. I called Verizon Wireless customer service multiple times. The last call revealed an error within the software that is not yet fixable for weeks or maybe months according to the technical advisor.  Like many other customers my phone is the lifeline to my world outside of work and paying a premium for a service is more than affordable as my lifeline.  To date Verizon will not honor a warranty on this phone (which is within warranty) and it took a similar act of congress to get the truth from a willing tech.  This is terrible and beyond disappointment.  I just ordered new service from the **** pile called AT&T and I hope that in the smallest regard I receive better service from them than I have experienced from Verizon in the last 2 months.  I purchased a phone, I expect it to work and if it doesn’t I expect you to honor your promise of service.  You failed.  Want to make it right? Give me a call!

  • Turned away from Verizon Wireless to Apple for purchase... is this normal?

Today I entered a Verizon Wireless location - an actual location, not an authorized retailer. I wanted to purchase an iPhone 5c at full retail price (month-to-month) as a gift. I was told that the iPhone would have to be activated at the time of purchase. I explained to the sales representative that I could perform the activation myself using My Verizon online, and that activating the phone at the time of purchase would interrupt the gift recipient's service until the the gift was received, and also ruin any surprise. The representative just reiterated Verizon Wireless's policy, and confirmed that I could go to an Apple store and buy an iPhone 5c without an activation. I then left the store and contacted Verizon Wireless Customer Service which explained that this is not policy, and that I should have been able to make the full retail price purchase without activation, and the customer service representative appeared confused at how the store could have turned me away.
I then returned to the same store, waited in line again, and explained my conversation with Customer Service with a different sales representative and he explained that the iPhone would have to be activated at the time of purchase, and that I could personally contact Verizon Wireless Customer Service on my own phone and that he would explain this to the Customer Service Representative. I then called Verizon Wireless Customer Service again and waited, and explained my situation to a different representative, who was equally as confused as the first as to how the store could have turned me away. The sales representative and customer service representative had a conversation for approximately 10 minutes while the manager on duty walked by several times never taking charge of the situation, and just stating, it is because we have a different system.
I left the store without being able to make the gift purchase. I have been a Verizon Wireless customer for many years and I have always gone out of my way to make my purchases at Verizon Wireless locations, and not Apple Store, BestBuy, or authorized retailers. I am confused as to wether or not this is Verizon Wireless's actual policy, and if so how is anyone suppose to make a gift purchase through Verizon Wireless at full retail price?
I also would like to note that the two Customer Services Representatives were very helpful and polite, and the first one was trying to order the phone for me so that I could in fact activate it at home, however the shipment would not have been quick enough for the gift purpose.
Verizon Wireless Customer Service please contact me directly.

This is not VZW's policy. They certainly can sell you a device full price or on contract without activating it in the store. The reps do receive commission on their sales and you purchasing a phone full retail and I would imagine no accessories does not pay the rep at all. It is sad but you were turned away so that the rep could make a sale that would pay while not dropping quotas. as EVERYTHING counts and this sale would have lowered the rep's sales numbers. It is totally not your fault but your sale would have been a negative effect on the rep. S/he was trying to direct you to Apple where the employees do not make commission so it doesn't matter what they sell to you. You might have had a better experience at Apple where they don't get paid on what they sell. Granted, this is not your problem but maybe a little insight into why it seemed so difficult for you to purchase this gift.

We have had Verizon Wireless service since 2007. We have 6 lines on our account. Unfortunately in 2012 when I (903.647.0073) upgraded from the iPhone4s to the iPhone 5 I started having reception problems. I started having dropped calls in my home. I had to go outside to get reception without dropped calls. I was told that because of metal in my home I would have to purchase a Network Extender for $250. And we HAVE not metal in our home. AND our other lines all work fine. I felt this was ridiculous. We already pay $350+/month for service and I should NOT have to purchase additional equipment for a service that I already pay for. The manager of our local store at the time gave us at no cost a Samsung Network Extender. It worked beautifully until about a month ago. I went to our local Verizon store and was told that I would have to purchase an extender. THIS is RIDICULOUS. We have been loyal customers for over 7 years and have been very satisfied with our service. Unless this issue can be resolved without purchasing an extender we will be switching our service as our lines come up for renewal. I regret this as we have been very happy with our service. But we should NOT have to purchase anything extra for one line that will not get good reception. Again, we pay $350+/ month for a service that does not work properly, simply RIDICULOUS! Currently the "sys" light flashes red (slow) and the GPS light remains red. Please help this very frustrated customer.

Regardless with what carrier your with you might have the same issue, My recommendation would be to get a router that will help you with viewing live traffic and keep a tally of your usage and any device connected to your internet connection.  You can go with the peplink balance 20 and be able to look at your traffic by the hour, daily, weekly, monthly or yearly.  Look for trends, see what computers or devices are doing what I attached a screen shot so you can see an example of mine.  You can purchase the router at 3gstore

  • Why am I getting flooded with calls from a deactivated verizon wireless number?

Im not a verizon customer, but after spending several hours on the phone with their customer support to no avail, Im turning to the community for help.
The past two days Ive been flooded with calls from verizon wireless numbers in MO (mostly 636 area code). I try answering, no response. I call back, and after ringing twice I get a prerecorded message - "The verizon wireless number you're trying to call has been changed, disconnected, or is no longer in service", even when calling back seconds of the original call. Occasionally a voicemail is left, and its nothing but exactly 5 seconds of silence.
This is getting very frustrating, since its almost constant. Im averaging 4 calls an hour between the hours of 10am and 9pm, with a couple up until 11pm. I have no idea whats going, and its getting quite irritating, and Im burning through minutes checking and deleting all the voicemails.
Just for reference, some of the numbers are -
    >Phone numbers deleted<
And they all give the same verizon message when called.
Any ideas or suggestions are great.

Your device may have this option:
If I get an annoying call, I will add them to my contact list as Spam and block the number on my device. The call will go straight to VM and funny, a message is never left.Problem Solved.
Also I agree with Jim, if this is a new number for you, just have it changed.

  • Why is it ok for a verizon wireless service representative to lie to a customer? I went over my monthly data and i called to ask for some help with the overage because i was barely over. They told me they would take care of it and sold me on a shared data

why is it ok for a verizon wireless service representative to lie to a customer? I went over my monthly data and i called to ask for some help with the overage because i was barely over. They told me they would take care of it and sold me on a shared data plan that would result in 2gb less data but told me i would save 20$ a month. I agreed and recieved my next statement and to my suprise my bill actually went up 15$ a month and i talked to several people and they all told me there is nothing that can be done to get back on the plan i was on and they can not even give me a discount to get me back to what i was paying. They can only offer me a convenience credit. I will be cancelling service.

    ajwest101,
We do not want to see you go. I truly apologize for any misinformation regarding your plan. Let's investigate into this a little further. What plan were you on? What plan were you switched to? If you look at the detailed billing online of your previous bill do you see any additional charges other then the plan?

  • Business received Past Due notice phone call, we dont have Verizon Wireless

    Hi,
I am an IT administrator for a small company.
Our office received an automated phone call from Verizon Wireless about a past due balance of a couple hundred dollars.
I found it odd since no one in the company (we're a small business of 7 people) has verizon wireless and if they did I would have been the one to set up accounts. We have had the same address and phone number for a couple years now so it couldnt have been a mistake. I waited to speak with a representative.,
I gave them my name, company I represented, and explained the situation from them. I told them I received a call about a past due notice. They asked for our contact number, I gave them company's phone number. They found the account through that number and the company name was listed on the account however at this point was where the conversation died. The representative immediately would not answer any further questions because I was apparently not the account holder. They told me if I wanted to do anything I would have to get the account holder on the phone.
Now I understand why they couldn't help me due to privacy concerns.
However I am wondering what a small business can do because I am worried about someone fraudulently opening an account under the company's name and running a past due notice.

Have them mail the past due notice to your business address.
However if one of your employees/Officers have a personal account opened under your business with your FID number you may have to send a letter of dispute for those charges.
Have them send a complete written bill to your attention. That hopefully will clear it up.
    Good Luck

  • Notified Verizon of International Travel & The Fraud Dept Suspends My Service for One International Call

I called Verizon to notify them that I would be out of the country traveling to Portugal and Spain.  Based on the customer service representative's advice, I added international calling to my plan.  While in Spain, I called my daughter.  My phone stopped working.  Luckily, it was near the end of my trip and I had internet access at the hotel to communicate with my family. When I arrived in the U.S., my phone did not have service.  I called Verizon three times and finally learned that they had suspended my phone service because of suspected fraud.  My one call from Spain had somehow caused them to suspend service even though I had called to activate international calling.  I did not receive any type of notification that my service was suspended. Today, three weeks after the call from Spain, the fraud department called and were on the verge of suspending my service a second time.  If I had not answered, they were suspending my service.  I understand that preventing fraud is important, but I am very upset that my service was suspended when I did everything that I was supposed to do to use Verizon's international calling feature. Today, the representative said there was not a note in my file about my previous call to the fraud department. Why would they suspend my service two weeks after reinstating it?  Is one call from Spain enough to warrant suspending service when a customer has international calling? What can I do to prevent this happening in the future?

  • No Verizon Wireless Service/Cannot Make Calls but can connect to 4G LTE & use internet

I have a Motorola Droid Ultra and my phone just does not catch Verizon Wireless Service anywhere. It shows up as 4GLTE and i can still connect to my data & go on the internet but I cannot make any calls. Ocassionally it will connect to "Verizon" and I can recieve SMS (Text Messages)but still no calls.

        Titah420,
We definitely want you to have access to all your services. What happens when you try to make a call? Are you able to receive calls? Are text messages an issue?

  • Automatic Calls from Verizon Wireless?

Recently, I had a situation where I would receive a call from my daughter's Verizon Wireless phone.  I could hear people talking in the background (she was on vacation), but nobody responded to my voice.  Assuming that it was an accidental redial, I hung up.  Within 5-10 seconds I received another call from her phone.  Same problem.  After receiving 43-45 calls from her phone I sent her an email.  She responded that her phone showed no outgoing calls.
Although the problem has resolved itself, I am curious as to what might have caused the issue.  Any ideas?

It's amazing, I can call Verizon on my cell phone but nobody else how aggivating> They said this only effects prepaid phones nation wide. They are working on restoring service, said it would take around an hour to get things working again.

Having service issues are no fun Pookstar1969. I can understand how frustrating this is. I can check for any issues in the area. Whats your zipcode and phone type? Are you having issues with prepaid or postpaid service? I look forward to hearing from you.
