Can an object know it's creator?

Can an object determine which object created it? That is, which object called the constructor that brought it into existence? (without passing this in as a parameter to the constructor).

ps, why do you need to know this? isn't that thevery basic??
Should have explained that. I am writing a set of
helper classes that will always be used by applets.
Sometimes the helper class needs to know something
g about the applet, such as it's width etc. Rather
than pass in a ton of stuff in the helper class
constructor, I was wondering if I could just reach
back into the creating applet and fish it out myself
from inside the helper class.
Not sound practice perhaps, but in this case I know
fershure that its an applet that is the creator.
Passing this to the constructor works. In the
helper, if the param name is 'creator' you can then
say creator.getSize().width; or
somesuch. Just wondering if there was a call to the
system to get the parent object. (like you can in
Javascript for example).You can create a singleton which has a reference to the applet. The helpers would then just use the singleton to get hold on the information.
