Can I cancel a 2yr plan due to lack of service?

Hi,
I recently (over this past summer) updated my phone and plan with Verizon.  I'm from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and I got the phone in Pittsburgh.  It is a Droid Eris and very nice.  I got it and a month later I moved to Olympia, Washington for school.  Since moving there, I have hardly been able to use it.  The service is terrible and its been impossible to keep in touch with my family, I wasn't even able to call them over Thanksgiving.  I'm also having to pay extra money so I can use the internet on my phone, but I can't even access the internet let alone make phone calls.  It's really frustrating.  I can't use my phone to keep in touch with everyone in Pittsburgh-and if I am ever in trouble I wouldn't be able to call for help, which makes me really nervous.  Is there a way I can cancel my 2yr contract?  Would I have to pay a fee-and how much would that cost?  Would I have to go to the Verizon store I bought the phone from to do this or would I have to do this in Washington-where I am now living and having the problems?  Help!

Yes, Verizon no longer waives ETFs due to moving to an area without service, so you will probably have to pay an Early Termination Fee.  Since you have a smartphone, it will probably be $350 less $10 for each month of service you have completed.  The Customer Service rep you contact about cancelling will be able to tell you the exact amount.  Would I have to go to the Verizon store I bought the phone from to do this or would I have to do this in Washington-where I am now living and having the problems? You can do it over the phone, or at a corporate Verizon store.  Help!

    You can't cancel Verizon services without talking to them.  Call 800-VERIZON and press the cancel button(s).  They will help you.

    If you want to use it (without a data plan) as a GPS, you'll need to purchase a navigation app that has built-in maps.  Navigon is one, although I can't recommend it.  Google for reviews of others.

  • Can't Open Many Programs - Possibly due to Lack of a Tiff Compressor

    I hope I'm posting this in the right place...
    First, thanks for taking the time to read this.
    Ok, down to business. A couple weeks ago I went to open the Halo Demo for Mac I had installed on my computer. After I chose to play in full screen mode, a large white screen displayed with the words: "Quicktime and a TIFF(LZW) Compressor are needed to view this picture." It then hangs there for a second or two and quits. I tried reinstalling the demo and opening it back up, but to no avail. I also had installed Macromedia Flash and Fireworks MX 2004 and Flash 8. They would appear in the dock after I tried opening them, hang there, and then would quit. I had to uninstall the Macromedia programs and the Halo Demo anyways because they were taking up space on my computer. I later found out about something that I wanted to do in Macromedia Dreamweaver, so I took my Studio MX 2004 CD plopped in my drive and reinstalled the entire suite onto an external hard drive formatted as Mac OS Journaled. The same thing happens with all adobe products installed on my computer (and with a few other programs); they either display the screen that says I need Quicktime (which I have installed) and a TIFF Compressor to display the image, or they just hang in the dock for a second and close. I opened the Console, tried opening dreamweaver, and the following log was displayed in the Console window:
    dyld: NSAddImage() error
    dyld: no suitable image found. Did find:
    /System/Library/Printers/Libraries/libConverter.dylib: mach-o, but wrong architecture /System/Library/Printers/Libraries/libConverter.dylib
    I'm not sure what that means, as I'm just starting to learn about advanced computing skills and such, but I noticed that it said that a suitable image wasn't found. I thought this sounded similar to the error message I was getting before. Be sure to note, though, that before I reinstalled the Halo Demo and Studio MX 2004 the first time, they did work. I think the problems arose at around the same time. I'm not sure what's going on, so I'd like to know if anyone has any answers or solutions to my problems. Any help would be appreciated.

    Does anyone know the answer to my question? And is LZW the default Mac OS Tiff decompressor?

  • Plan price going up and service is not that good

    i have been with verizon for over 8 years i got a notice about the insurance going up 1.01 I never used the insurance and i am eligible for and upgrade but i dont think that i really want to. I lose my unlimited data and with my plan i have 420 any time minutes and i dont hardly use 50 minutes a month and i have 5000 text and dont hardly use them either.. my calls often drop i have one phone and i keep getting emails about upgrading to the new plan but i have only one phone and pay over one hundred a month is getting ridiculous if i have two phones and one tablet and 4gb share data for 160.00 plus taxes and surcharges and one phone is 100 plus surcharges and taxes where are the savings i am tired of paying this while the more phones you have pay less wow what saving i think im am switching inless they come up with a better plan very frustrated with the plan hikes and lack of service i like verizon but enough is enough!!!!

    It also appears as if you may be able to drop your bill substantially if you were to switch to prepaid.

    I bought my Iphone 5 back in September 2012 and had to get it replaced in June 2013 because it kept crashing. When I got it replaced I had to cancel my Geek Squad protection plan from my old phone and purchase a new one to cover me till June 2015, which I did. So when I went in to Best Buy Monday to try to replace my charging cable, boy was I surprised that apparently I wasn't covered anymore. So I called customer service to straighten it out and their story changed three different times. I was told that my Best Buy credit card was not the same card on my Geek Squad account, then I was told that I was the one that cancelled my protection plan to which I explained about my replacement phone, then ultimately I was told that I did not pay for my plan for over three months so it was cancelled November 2013. First of all, I was speaking to someone who I could not even understand and it was frustrating. Second, the fact that they accused me of not paying my bill was not only insulting, but absolutely ridiculous because my protection plan was ALWAYS automatically charged to my account so how could I have stopped paying it? Third, I was angry that it is now March 2014 and I had not receive one letter, email, or phone call notifying me of this cancellation? Fourth, I was told that even if I were to pay my "outstanding balance" that my plan would still be cancelled and I would not be able to get a new one. I am a silver member and I make numerous big purchases at Best Buy, but after dealing with how absurd the whole situation is I am not going to buying any protection plans.

    I was able pull up your purchase history using your email address you provided on the forums. It appears that your last successful automatic payment was on 11/14/2014. The first payment to not go through was 12/14/2013. After that, no successful payments were collected for December 2013 – March 2014. I was also able to see that we reached out to you via email on 01/14/2014 to notify you of the missed payment.
    Since we hadn’t collected successful payment for the last four months, your Geek Squad Protection plan was cancelled. I’m sorry for any inconvenience and frustration this has caused you and I hope that you won’t completely write of the benefits of the Geek Squad Protection plans that we offer. I’m glad we were previously able to get you a replacement for your broken phone.
