Can I create object in console app that lives on another thread?
I'm trying to get Embedded RavenDb to work in my console app. I've tried halting the application with console.readline() and by placing a breakpoint with no luck. So I was told I must run it in separate thread.
So I have this object EmbeddableDocumentStore that I want to create in separate thread and keep it alive, is that possible?
static void Main(string[] args)
NonAdminHttp.EnsureCanListenToWhenInNonAdminContext(8080);
EmbeddableDocumentStore store = new EmbeddableDocumentStore();
store.DataDirectory = "data";
store.UseEmbeddedHttpServer = true;
store.Initialize();
If I take all the above code in Main() and place it in separate method, and launch it in another thread - does that 2nd thread considered not halted if my program stops at Console.Readline()?
You'd have to provide a way for it to be alive.
So lets say you have two methods:
Main(string[] args)
LiveOnAnotherThread()
When you execute the LiveOnAnotherThread() on another thread, you'd have to do a while loop for it to be not exited, prolly a boolean flag that is on the class level.
so it's something like this
public class Foo
private bool _closeRunner = false;
public void Main(string[] args)
Thread runner = new Thread(() =>
LiveOnAnotherThread();
while(!_closeRunner)
Thread.Sleep(1000); // mimics 1 second pause
Console.ReadLine();
The code above is basically the basic gist of it.

Can you create a Adobe DPS app that use Web Services
I'm looking to create a DPS app that uses web services to pass data to and from a web server when the user has an internet connection, but when the user is offline stores data locally until an internet connection is established and then passes the locally stored data to the web server. Is this possible with DPS/
It's challenging but it's possible. Hint: local storage.

Can you specify a missing template handler that lives under another site?
I have configured a dedicated site, separate from my website, for my ColdFusion administrator (CFIDE). So I have my website here: http://www.public-site.com/ and my ColdFusion admin here: http://www.cfadmin-site.com/ . They both live on the same server but under different directories. So now I am configuring my ColdFusion settings and wondering if there is some way to configure the missing template handler and site-wide error handler to use files that live under the public site directory so that I can give my users a consistent look?
I am guessing that this is not possible but thought I would ask. I may be left with creating the modules under my ColdFusion admin directory and then using <cflocation> to redirect the user back to the public website environment. Or embedding some javascript to redirect them. Any other thoughts?OK, now I think I see where you are coming from about not needing to redirect *lightbulb* and perhaps I can explain to you what I am seeing. Again, here is my setup:
web root: D:\wwwroot\public-site\
cf web root: D:\wwwroot\cfadmin-site\
Now let's say I have a file in the web root like this: D:\wwwroot\public-site\error.cfm If I try to enter that in my site-wide error handler in ColdFusion it tells me that the file does not exist. Makes sense.
So I moved my file to the cf web root like this: D:\wwwroot\cfadmin-site\error.cfm and set my site-wide error handler accordingly. Now when I force an exception I get an error that my site-wide error handler failed. In the logs I see this error:
"Error","jrpp-26","11/08/10","14:02:30",,"'' The specific sequence of files included or processed is: D:\wwwroot\public-site\error.cfm'' "
java.security.PrivilegedActionException: coldfusion.runtime.TemplateNotFoundException: File not found: D:\wwwroot\public-site\error.cfm
So now that a template is executing ColdFusion is looking for the site-wide error handler in the web root of the public site. But the ColdFusion administrator will not let me enter that path in the site-wide error handler setting of the administrator page.
Did you run across this too? Surely we don't need to have the file in both locations. -
Can I Create a New Structured App that's a Copy of a Current One?
Here's the situation: I am new to using Dita in Framemaker, but have become competent with the authoring process. I do not understand the development end of things very well, however. What I want to do is to have a second dita structured application that is identical to the first in every way except that in topic.template.fm, the page size will be set to 11x17, not 8.5x11. And I want to be able to apply that structured application to some of my DITA documents, but not all of them.
I tried to create such a situation, first by copying and then renaming the DITA folder (I called the new one DITA-BIG) in Adobe FrameMaker 8\structure\xml\ and, within DITA-BIG, making that small change to topic.template.fm.
I then added the renamed structured app to structuredapps.fm (again, I did a copy and paste of the DITA-Topic-FM element already there), changing the name of the element to Dita-TopicBig-FM and the URLs to point to those in the DITA-BIG directory.
The new structured application appears in Framemaker when I select StructureTools --> Set Structured Application, and I can select/apply it to one of my documents. However, the document's page size doesn't change. I tried saving the document, closing and reopening the document, closing and reopening Framemaker. The new, larger page size set in topic.template.fm in the DITA-BIG structured app. is ignored.
If I change the page size in the original topic.template.fm file, the document that is supposedly using the new structured app changes size to correspond to the template in the old structured app. But I need that original template to stay at its original 8.5x11 page size.
I am new to working with such files so I don't know if I missed something or if what I am attempting cannot be done.
Any advice?Ok, it worked.
Thank you very much for your help and patience with my followup questions.
I want to describe one more thing that was not obvious to me. When I got all of this done and tried to get a help topic to use the new template, I did it wrong at first. What I tried was to open the xml file, then open the StructureTools menu and select "Set StructuredApplication." From the long list of applications that appears, I chose Dita-Topic-Bigpage-Fm (my applicaiton clone that contained the modified template). Then I saved the file, but didn't notice any changes in my page size. Even closing and reopening the file and closing and reopening Framemaker, didn't seem to have an effect. When I chose any other structured application (do not try this at home!) I got pretty spectacular results: many error messages, and one time it crashed Framemaker. But nothing happened when I chose my "bigpage" clone application.
Eventually I tried to set the structured application when I opened up the xml file. At File - Open, a little window always appears that lets you select a few structured application choices among the many available.When I did this, the file finally opened with the large page size specified in my cloned application.

Urgent:eror:ActiveX component can't create object:fdmFM11xG5C.clsFMAdapter
Hi All,
I get the following error :
Error: ActiveX component can't create object: 'fdmFM11xG5C.clsFMAdapter'
At Line: 45
while trying to map a target FM account
I have used the following adapter fdmFM11xG5C for registering.
I have registered the adapter using the given documentation still things are not working the same.
FDM and HFM are installed on two different machines.
I have also referred to an earlier forum which had the same issue.
Kindly let me know what to do here.
Edited by: user12276446 on Jun 27, 2010 11:52 PMCreate a domain user which has administrator access in both machines. (creating a local user with same name and password in both machines may NOT solve the issue).
Make sure the that the user is added to the Administrators group. The minimum required rights additionally are:
Act as part of the Operating System
LogOn as a batch job
Access this computer from the network
For FDM Task manager: LogOn as a Service
Additionally, check the following two options under Security Options
DCOM: Machine Access Restrictions
DCOM: Launch Restrictions
Mine worked with both these as blank. If you cannot remove them, delete the content of the registry keys (not the keys): MachineAccessRestriction & MachineLaunchRestriction under HKLM\Software\Policies\WindowsNT\DCOM
Configure HFM DCOM (with the EPM config) using this domain account
Configure the FDM adapter with this user
You may have to configure the IIS application pool with this user as well.
Make sure that this user has rights to the file system where things are installed.
+ the users running the IIS web apps must also have access to the file system (better to add them to the group Users)

Automation server can't create object when calling a jsp from a button
Hello,
I have created the following jsp that allow me to execute an external program that is located on the client side:
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
<!--
function execAppli(app)
var wshShell = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Shell");
wshShell.Run(app+".exe", 1, true);
-->
</script>
If I call this jsp in a simple html page is works correctly when i call it from a button in apex (3.0) I got the error message Automation server can't create object.
Any idea ?
Thanks,
Claude-AlainHi Claude,
Just be sure that you really (like really) trust your endusers, because I can see some huge opportunities for exploiting that JavaScript routine you've shown. If you're not taking steps to prevent cross site scripting (search this forum or Google for details on what that is), then it's not beyond the bounds of possibility for someone to do something 'nasty' which would do horrible things to your end users if your executing a program on their client machines without any warning or validation of what that program actually does.
Sometimes it's best to work backwards from the point of view of....what if you walk into work one morning and find that 400 end users machines have had their hard-drives wiped because the script arbitrarily executes whatever command you pass to it? Then you can perhaps see that what sometimes looks like a good idea might not be such a good idea after all ;) -
Can I upload a simple iPhone App that all it does is direct the User to a Filemaker Pro URL fmp://~filename.fmp?$VariableName=Value This launches Filemaker Go and directs the user to the Database Hosted online

Filemaker Go is a app that the user will have to have

I don't know where you even want to upload this software. The only way it can be downloaded to a device is through the iTunes store. Do you even know what you want to do? -

SBO2004A: Runtime Error 429 ActiveX Component can't Create Object
Hello,
We have an Addon developed with VB6 that run without problems with SBO 6.5.
We have upgraded to SBO2004A and I have referenced in the source code to the 2004 UI and DI. I debug mode (from IDE) we don't have problems, but when I try to execute the addon from a client, I get this error message:

BlasI'm using Installshield 10.5 to generate the setup file. It's much more easy and not requiered to install Framework 1.1 in each PC client before to install the Addon.
You have to create and msi project, and write the Installscript to retrieve the install directory from parameter string passed by SAP.
After install you must execute the AddOnInstallAPI.EndInstall to notify SAP:

Runtime Error '429': ActiveX component can't create object
Hi,
I am using below code in vb6 application but this is throwing an "Runtime Error '429': ActiveX component can't create object" error.
CreateObject("OracleInProcServer.XoraSession")
is that due to any dll or reference error ?
I have an Oracle client installed on my PC
please share your solution
Thanks in advanceAre either of those 64 bit? If so, your problem is likely related to that.
A 64 bit Oracle client doesn't support OO4O at all, so this code will never work with that client. You need to use a 32 bit one.
If you are using a 32 bit client but on a 64 bit OS, I've found the 11.2.03 installer doesn't properly register the files. Manually registering OraOleDB11.dll may fix it, though we had to do some other registry stuff and it got very ugly. Backing up to a slightly older client should also fix the problem. -
ERROR: Automation server can't create object
Hi,
I am at my wits end, and I hope you can help me. I have
compiled a Webhelp project that runs just fine in Firefox (with the
exception of expanding text but blah blah blah... :P)
When I compile the same project in IE, I get an page loading
error that tells me that "Automation server can't create object"
(with reference to 'whskin_pdfhtml.html' in a file path, and my ToC
is not visible.
My tester, who is on another machine in another location,
tells me HIS ToC loads fine, but he gets an out of memory error at
line 59.
I have trawled thru these forums for an hour now, and I am no
closer to solving this problem. I have tried creating a brand new
empty project with one topic and I get the same error.
Any ideas on what's happening?
Of course, we have a demo tomorrow at 6am.
thanksGuessing here.
1] You have created webhelp pro when you don't have RoboHelp
Server installed on the server.
2] Your source has some output files in it. The topic
concerned being the one that gives the memory error. This result is
what you get when you view in RoboHelp an output file that has been
imported into the source. I don't know whether it gives the same
error in the output again.
Or are you viewing the help locally instead of from a server?

Visual Basic 6 application moved to new server - activex component can't create object
I have to move a VB6 application that was running on a Windows 2003 machine to a new Windows 2008 machine.
This EXE application was using classes defined in a DLL using the Createobject method.
Now, after the class instance has been created by Createobject, when the program calls the methods error 429 "activex component can't create object" is issued.
The DLL has been registered on the new server using the command :
regsvr32 c:\folderx\dllname.dll
Which is the right forum to get help on this ?
Thanks.Hello,
As Dave says, VB 6 is no longer supported by Microsoft.
I’d suggest asking in one of the following third-party forums which support Visual Basic 6.

Acrobat 9 - AcroExch.PDDoc - ActiveX component can't create object
For opening a PDF file, I used following statement in VB6 :
Set AcroFirstDoc = CreateObject("AcroExch.PDDoc")
but it failed, with error "429- ActiveX component can't create object"
I was searching for solution. I found one link -
http://www.bigresource.com/Tracker/Track-vb-oY6Wgt9R/
Is this true?
What could be the problem? I need urgent help.
ThanksIf you want it
to continue working after you log off you have to change the COM+ properties
of the package to run as a specific user.
I recently installed the Evaluation edition of BizTalk Server, but am
finding
that I need to reinstall the software every time I log off(I am using the
same
logon throughout).
The problem I think is that BizTalk cannot start the XLANG Scheduler COM+
component - If I try to start it manually (in Component Services) I get
"Catalog
Error: Error Code 80080005 - Server Execution Failed"
more info: http://www.programd.com/118_4e0323a255219dd1_1.htm
If I try to run the XLANG Schedule created in the Tutorial, via
ExecuteTutorial.exe, the error message is "...ActiveX Component can't create
object. Error: 429 (0x1AD)"
BizTalk is unable to run any XLANG Schedule, I also have a Schedule setup
which
is activated via a File Receive Function. This fails also.
The System Log reports the following error every minute (at least!):
"The server{bla bla bla}did not register with DCOM within the required
timeout"
The only solution I have found is to reinstall & even this is not successful
every time.
Has anyone else seen this problem? Any suggestions? -
I've looked at all the other threads I could find in Technet that look close to this issue.
In my BDD.log, the last entry is "FAILURE (Err): 429: CreateObject(Microsoft.BDD.Utility) - ActiveX component can't create object" right after "RUN: regsvr32.exe /s "C:\Users\ADMINI~1\AppData\Local\Temp\Tools\x64\Microsoft.BDD.Utility.dll""
I have the following:
C:\_SMSTaskSequence folder
C:\MININT folder
LiteTouch.wsf link under the Startup Folder
Deployment share is mapped properly
System logs in automatically as local administrator
Even with this, it does not automatically resume the imaging job. I do not understand why it is not continuing.
If I launch the LiteTouch.wsf from an Admin elevated cmd window, the Task Sequence resumes like nothing was wrong.
Any guidance is appreciated!
EDIT1: I changed my customsetting.ini file to join a workgroup instead of the domain and it appears to be continuing without issue now. Is there something I am missing as to why it does not automatically run when it joins to a domain?Just wanted to provide an update.
So, i took the suggestion of a few other blog posts and moved the object into the Computers Container in AD so it did not have any policies impacting it. After doing this, it properly cycles through the application installs and reboots in the Task Sequence
while joined to the domain.
Is there an sort of comprehensive list of GPO settings that break MDT? The ones I have found (legal prompt, etc.) we do not do so it has to be something else. -

go to "%programdata%\microsoft\windows\start menu\programs\startup" and perform the "Litetouch.lnk" with elevated rights (right click run as administrator), the ts will continue and apply the OS without any error message.
join to workgroup instead to domain and the installation will perform without any error...
any help is appreciated.
thx a lot.
The error was AD policy related.
I moved the device to an AD Folder (no policy), deployed the windoows 8 again and moved the box back to the correct ou in TS section PostInstall - Custom Tasks using a ps script.
I did not figure out which policy.
Update: moved from W8.1 EVALUATION to offical release solved my problem!Which policies are causing this? Do you have anything that limits/modifies the local administrator account? Or restricts the loading of ActiveX?
