Can I embed query values in the URL?

Hi!
I wanted to generate a URL that points to my page, and then to specify a filter for a report on that page. Like I want the normal report to show, and then for it to be filtered on "Industry='High Tech.' ". Is there a way to filter an iReport through the URL?
Thank you!

You can transfer the value through URL and store it in a hidden filed that can be used to filter the report.

  • How to get the query values from the url in a servlet and pass them to jsp

    ok..this is the situation...
    all applications are routed through a login page...
    so if we have a url like www.abc.com/appA/login?param1=A&param2=B , the query string must be passed onto a servlet(which is invoked before the login page is displayed)..the servlet must process the query string and then should pass all those values(as hidden values) to the login jsp..then user enters username and pswd, then there should be another servlet which takes all the hidden values of jsp and also username and pswd, authenticates the user and sends the control back to that particular application along with the hidden values...
    so i need help on how to parse the query string from the original url in the servlet, pass it out to jsp, and then pass it back to the servlet and back to the original application...damnn...any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks

    ok..this is the situation...Sounds like you have a bad design on your hands.
    You're going to send passwords in a GET request as clear text? Nice security there.
    Why not start with basic security and work your way up?

    Can we assign two values to the same parameter? If yes how? For details please go through the following SAP related program.
    Here I need to print 2 queries using the same parameter "QUERY" the value assigned to this parameter(query) is REPORT_TEST1. I want to assign one more value to this Parameter. Is is possible? This question may sound stupid if it is not possible please kindly reply.
    I want to do this to print two documents(values) with a single command (parameter)

    Hi,
    Try assigning two values seperated by a delimiter ( say '|') to the same parameter.
    In the function get the parameter value and seperate the values using the same delimiter.
    <param name="QUERY" value="REPORT_TEST1|REPORT_TEST2"/>

  • How can I pass a value to the command prompt?

    I was wondering how can I pass a value to the command prompt with Windows and Linux? I'm more interested in Linux's system than Windows though. Is there a way to return info from the command prompt?

    Here is a snippet from http://mindprod.com/jglossexec.html that explains how in detail.
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("myprog.exe") will spawn an external process that runs in parallel with the Java execution. In Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP, you must use an explicit *.exe or *.com extension on the parameter. It is also best to fully qualify those names so that the system executable search path is irrelevant, and so you don't pick up some stray program off the path with the same name.
    To run a *.BAT, *.CMD, *.html *.BTM or URL you must invoke the command processor with these as a parameter. These extensions are not first class executables in Windows. They are input data for the command processor. You must also invoke the command processor when you want to use the < > | piping options, Here's how, presuming you are not interested in looking at the output:
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("command.com /E:1900 /C MyBat.bat" );
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("cmd.exe /E:1900 /C MyCmd.cmd" );
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("C:\\4DOS601\\4DOS.COM /E:1900 /C MyBtm.btm" );
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("D:\\4NT301\\4NT.EXE /E:1900 /C MyBtm.btm" );
    There are also overloaded forms of exec(),
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("command.com /E:1900 /C MyBat.bat", null);
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("command.com /E:1900 /C MyBat.bat", null, "C:\\SomeDirectory");
    The second argument can be a String [], and can be used to set environment variables. In the second case, "C:\\SomeDirectory" specifies a directory for the process to start in. If, for instance, your process saves files to disk, then this form allows you to specify which directory they will be saved in.
    Windows and NT will let you feed a URL string to the command processor and it will find a browser, launch the browser, and render the page, e.g.
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("command.com http://mindprod.com/projects.html" );
    Another lower level approach that does not require extension associations to be quite as well set up is:
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler http://mindprod.com/projects.html" );
    Note that a URL is not the same thing as a file name. You can point your browser at a local file with something like this: file://localhost/E:/mindprod/jgloss.html or file:///E|/mindprod/jgloss.html.
    Composing just the right platform-specific command to launch browser and feed it a URL to display can be frustrating. You can use the BrowserLauncher package to do that for you.
    Note that
    rundll32.exe url.dll,FileProtocolHandler file:///E|/mindprod/jgloss.html
    won't work on the command line because | is reserved as the piping operator, though it will work as an exec parameter passed directly to the rundll32.exe executable.
    With explicit extensions and appropriately set up associations in Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP you can often bypass the command processor and invoke the file directly, even *.bat.
    Similarly, for Unix/Linux you must spawn the program that can process the script, e.g. bash. However, you can run scripts directly with exec if you do two things:
    Start the script with #!bash or whatever the interpreter's name is.
    Mark the script file itself with the executable attribute.
    Alternatively start the script interpreter, e.g.
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec (new String[]{"/bin/sh", "-c", "echo $SHELL"}";

  • How can i add two values under the same property?

    Hi all,
    How can i add two values under the same property name in a
    prop list? For example:
    [question1: "item1","item2", question2: "item3","item4"]
    To be more precise, i am creating a property list and I want
    whenever a two values have the same property name to be added int
    he list under the same property. For example:
    gMyList.AddProp (#""&question&"" & x,
    member("input").text)
    question is a variable that is updated fromt he user's input.
    Now, whenever somethign like this happens:
    question = "question1"
    member("input").text = "five"
    question = "question1"
    member("input").text = "six"
    I want to output list to be:
    [question1: "five","six"] and so on
    Any ideas?

    Maybe you could make each property a list (so you have a
    property list full
    of lists), and add multiple values to the list held in a
    particular
    property?

  • How to hide dynamic parameters values in the URL with Reports 6i

    Hi,
    I want to know a way of hiding the parameters values when asking for a report through the web.
    Now I'm using the Reports 3.0.5.8 with a Cartridge defined in the Oracle Web Application Server 3.0.1.0.1. When you ask for a report with the parameters DESTYPE = cache and DESFORMAT = pdf, it is fully generated and in the Address or Location box of the browser, you can see http://webserver/cache/report.pdf (where cache is the virtual directory defined in the OWAS in which the .pdfs are cached). So, users cant see the Url used to generate the report.
    Im trying to upgrade this configuration to Reports 6i with Cgi in a web server. I generate reports with no problems. The problem I have is I cant find how to hide the parameters values as before. I mean, when I ask for a report, once its generated I can see http://webserver/cgi-bin/rwcgi60.exe?server=ServerName&report=report.rdf&userid=user/pass@connection&destype=cache&desformat=pdf&P1=value1&P2=value2 in the Location box. It allows user to ask for another report changing the values of the parameters. I use these parameters to execute some query written in the Data Model. For example, imagine that the P1 represents the company id, the user (that is supposed to see only data of its company) can change this id, ask for a new report and see data of another company.
    Ive already tried to use the key mapping option, but its not useful to me because the parameters values are dynamic and its impossible to define different entries in the cgicmd.dat for each possible value. The option of loading the parameter form before running a report is not useful to me either, because there exists specific screens for this purpose.
    Is there any solution?
    Thank you.
    Marma Bonfiglio.

    Hi Rakesh,
      I am using BI  7.0
    The last option I have is 'Hide' for 'Calculate single values as' .
    I have the below options  for 'Calculate single values as'
    1. Normalise  according to Next group  level  Resul.
    2. Normalize according to  Overall Result
    3. Rank number
    4.Olympic Rank Number
    5.Maximum
    6. Minimum

    8.Counter for all detailed values that are non zero
    9.Moving average
    10.Moving average  That is  Not zero ,null or Error
    11. Hide.
    So could you please tell me where i can find 'suppress result' option for the keyfigure .

  • Append a value to the URL and send

    Hai all,
    i want to send some values to the next page appending with the URL like
    http://webjava-2k:8080/mydemo/keyword.faces?allow
    can i do this?
    If yes, then in next page how can i retrieve the value?

    you might not be able to send parameters thru the url
    as jsf uses POST by default and there is no way (that
    i know of) of changing this to a GET.Two FYIs. First, you can include parameters in the query string portion of a URL when using a POST. In straight HTML, this looks like:
    <form method="POST" action="/xyz.cgi?param=abc">
       <input type="text" name="param2" />
    </form>Second, some clever people have figured out how to make JSF work on GET requests; try Googling if you are curious.
    >
    you can try the method mentioned earlierI agree with you here, the <f:param> component is the way to go.

  • Passing Values Via the URL

    Hello all,
    First off im pretty new to Apex and the Apex forums so Hello!<br>
    Im currently trying to create an Application which contrains a report. Now the report has a Source which contains the following:
    <br><br>
    SELECT 'a href="f?p=' || v('APP_ID') || ':7:' || v('SESSION') || ':' || ID || ':P7_TBname:' || v('APP_PAGE_ID') || '" INVALIDATE</a>' Invalidate,
    <br><br>
    now this seems to be corrently passing the Page number forwards, however I'm at a loss as to how to now remove this number from the URL and place it in a text box on page 7.

    Can any one help me out on this one?

    Found the problem,
    For any one searching in the future:
    The URL had the item values and name in the wrong section of the URL, as it was they were in the Debug and clear cash sections. Adding two : before the name solved this. For reference see this:

  • How to over ride a parameter value in the URL

    Hi
    I am calling a 10g report through a form as ...
    web.show_document('/reports/rwservlet?MYKEYINCGICMDFILE'&report=stock_status','_blank');
    MYKEYINCGICMDFILE is a key in cgicmd file where I have passed values like userid,destype, desname etc.
    Now I want to change the destype for a specific report and I want to pass the parameter through URL, how can I override the destype value provided in the key and pass through URL?
    I tried as ...
    web.show_document('/reports/rwservlet?MYKEYINCGICMDFILE'||'&desformat=spreadsheet&destype=file&desname=c:\stock_check.xls&report=stock_status','_blank');
    but still getting the value from the key.
    Thanks

    Leave out MYKEYINCGICMDFILE on the URL and specify all the parameters. That of course exposes un/pw.
    Or create a second key.
    Better still: use run_report_object in Forms instead of calling a report via web.show_document. This takes un/pw from the currently logged in user.
