You need to select the playlist on the shuffle, when you play it. If you do not select a particular playlist, it plays from the All Songs list. When you set the switch to play in order (not shuffle), the All Songs list plays in alphabetical order.

When you select a playlist on the shuffle, it should play in playlist order (when the switch is set to play in order).

I did a little research on this, as I found some strange things with the .plist files.
It appears that Apple has changed the way that the plist files are handled, and there is now an extra step in the trashing-the-.plist-file fix:
1. hold down the option key
2. in the Go menu in the Finder, scroll down to Libary
3. in Library, find Preferences
4. in Preferences, find com.apple.desktop.plist and drag it to the trash.
5. go to Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor
     1. Sort by Process Name and look for two processes named cfprefsd.
     2. Make sure you select the one that has your user account, not "root", listed as the User.
     3. Click the X up at the top left to kill that process
5. restart
6. this will generate a new .plist file, so you will have to reenter your preferences.

Can't get my IPOD Touch screen to turn off. There's a dark screen with the apple logo. Won't do anything.

Can I get a replacement set of EarPods since they are less than a year old, and the wires are shorting inside? (No receipt as it was a gift.)

I emailed Apple Support about this, but I have not gotten an email back. It has been at least a few weeks. Should I just take them into the mall store? In their case if I can find it? I wouldn't want them to think I was stealing them though, since I wasn't gifted a receipt. I figure they should be under manufacturer warranty since they came out with the iPhone 5 on Sept. 22nd, 2012 less than a year ago.
The rubber part by the input jack has rubbed off, and the part where the right headphone wire (with the volume adjuster) connects to the top of the part that compines the wires, pulls up exposing the wires. Is it considered abuse if I just use them normally and the materials used to make the item *****? (Their headphones have always had problems.)

How can I get my pictures in Picasa to open in Firefox rather than IE?

I want to view my pictures in a separate tab through Firefox to copy them to my blog. As of now I can only open them in Picasa Photo Viewer, Windows Media center, and Microsoft Office.

Of course, Firefox is my default browser.
Actually, the pictures don't open in IE, either. I just tried. The choices are Picasa Photo Viewer, Windows Media Center, and Microsoft Office. On my old computer, Firefox and IE were included in the 'Open in' list.

On a canceled appointment can I configure so that it shows with a line through, rather than disappearing, when I accept the change?

When my assistant deletes in her outlook, it comes as a notification that the appointment is canceled, with the option of accepting the update. If I don't accept the update, there is a line through the appointment, which I like. If I do, the appointment disappears. I would like to still have canceled appointmnents but with lines through.

Never mind. I figured it out what was causing the split of each disc into a different audiobook: The title of each track had the separate disc numbers and that made it appear as if it was a different book. Once I changed the title of each track to reflect the book's title without the disc number, the different tracks all merged into one audiobook in the audiobook section of iTunes.

It's possible that your car's audio system is not designed to work with an iPod shuffle. You should look at the car audio system's documentation to see what types of devices are supported when connected to the USB port on the car audio system.
An iPod does not "sync" with the car audio system. The system is only using the device connected to the USB port as a storage device. It would be the same as connecting a simple USB flash drive, with songs files on it, to that port. The car audio system reads the song files and does the playing. The iPod is not doing the playing. So the question is, does the car audio system know HOW to find song files on an iPod? You may want to check the settings screen on the car audio system, to see if there is a specific setting that tells it you are connecting an iPod.
If the car audio system has an auxiliary audio input port (which looks like the headphones jack on the shuffle), you can connect the shuffle (or any device with standard audio output) to the car audio system using something like this

The simplest -- and safest way for both sides -- is to use the same sort of cable you use for the AUX port on your car -- an min-jack to min-jack cable. Plug it into the headphone plug on your iPod, and connect it to the Line-In on the friends computer. This eliminates any risk of your iPod being detected by iTunes on your friends computer and getting corrupted, and also elimates any risk of malware attempting to corrupt the iPod. If you are worried about battery, simply connect your iPod to an external charger when you do this.
When I'm at work, I never connect my iPod to my work computer. I just use an external speaker. The iPod is only connected to its primary iTunes, and then I only update that iTunes when it is absolutely necessary.

I got 2 Ipods for my kids for xmas. I can only get one Ipod to connect to the computer. I went to the Apple store and spoke directly to an associate that said, there is no problem it will be fine. I connected the Ipod to charge the battery and it said do not disconnect. However, my computer sends a message that said, USB port not recognized, please disconnet immediately. I did and know my daughters Ipod is frozen with do not disconnect on it. We have the 30GB Ipods and they have not been able to do anything with it since they got it for xmas. Hey, I went and called Apple Support and actualy got a person!!! He talked me through some opening and adding information on my computer and both my girls can have their Ipods connect now. Not at the same time, just the computer recognizes both Ipods and they can do their downloads.

Fixed it!
1. Made sure itunes software was up to date
2. Pressed and held 'home' button and 'on-off' button at the same time for about 10 seconds till ipod reset (I hadn't done this step previously)
3. Connected to itunes
4. Pressed restore and update ipod
Update successful and ipod taken out of recovery mode
