Can someone please shed some light on his log please?

We are running Crystal and one of our customers can't launch the reportviewer java applet. This works for everyone else but them. I need to try and find out if this is a crystal problem or a java problem but don't know enough about the java log (from the client's machine) to make sense of it. We already have a call into crystal but it's starting to look like it either is a java error or a proxy/firewall error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Frank

I whould focus on the line "Caused by: java.net.UnknownHostException: reporting.xxx.com"
I would try using "nslookup" with this hostname on the problematic machine. You should get output something like:
C:\>nslookup

  • Odd RV042 behavior can someone help shed some light?

We have a group of 4 x RV042 routers linking the 3 branch offices back to the head office via VPN site to site tunnels. Also each of the sites has dual ISP connection, one from a cable provider and the other a DSL connection operating in smart link backup mode with tunnels configured for when each wan is active. In the past week one of the branch offices RV042 started failing over to the secondary DSL WAN link when the primary cable ISP WAN IP was expired and was being refreshed.
The odd behavior starts a few hours after the switch over, the system log reports that the router restarted but with no error reported and it shows the date being December 31 2002 beginning with a System Up message then the firmware message which is at 1.3.12.19 and establishes a connection with the primary WAN at this point I can ping the public IP but I cannot connect to the router nor can the users at the branch browse the web or establish VPN connectivity to the main office. This condition persists until the router is physically powered down and back on at which time it shows the correct date and time and all operations work well for the day. I must note the behavior seems to only occur between 5am - 7am so I want to believe that this behavior is tied to the ISP IP lease cycle, but it only affects one branch office with all offices using identical ISP's, setup and configuration.
Can someone help make sense of this situation as rebooting the router each day is becoming annoying?

    Hi Garth,
Thank you for posting. I wish I had a brilliant explanation for you that would immediately solve the problem. Unfortunately I have not seen this before. There is a possibility that the configuration file is corrupt or has been changed inadvertently. I think I would set the router to factory defaults and manually reconfigure it. There is also the option of swapping the router for another. If the other router does the same thing it could point to an environmental issue. If this router does the same thing at the alternate location it could point to either a configuration or hardware issue.

  • Can someone please shed some light...

I downloaded a few different apps onto my computer, i eventually managed to work out how to transfer them to my phone without too much trouble but when i press the icon to enter the app the screen goes blank for around 2 seconds as if its about to start but then returns to the homepage?
    Any help appreciated

  • Please shed some light on Data Center design

    Hi,
I want you guys to recommend what the design should be. I'm familiar with HP blade system. Let me clarify the existing device.
    1. HP Blade with Flex Fabric. It supports FCOE.
    2. MDS SAN switch for the storage
    3. Network Switch for IP network.
    4. HP Storage.
HP Blade has 2 interface types for IP Network(Network Switch) and Fiberchannel(SAN).
What is the benifit for using Nexus switch and FCOE for my exising devices. What should be a new design with Nexus switch? Please guide me ideas.

    Hi, Toshi:
Most of these chat boards have become quite boring. Troubleshooting OSPF LSA problems is old news. But I do pop my head in every now and then. Also, there are so many other companies out there doing exciting things in the data center. You have Dell, Brocade, Arista, Juniper, etc. So one runs the risk of developing a myopic view of the world of IT by lingering around this board for too long.
If you want to use the new B22 FEX for the HP c7000 blade chassis, you certainly can. That means the Nexus will receive the FCoE traffic and leverage its FCF functionality; either separate the Ethernet and FC traffic there, or create a VE-port instantiation with another FCF for multihop deployments. Good luck fighting the SAN team with that one! Another aspect of using the HP B22 is the fact that the FEX is largely plug and play, so you dont have to manage the Flex Fabric switches.

  • Please shed some light on Chunked Transfer Coding for HTTP 1.1?

I am writing a HTTP proxy in Java, but I have a problem. I am writing a HTTP 1.0 proxy. As you probably know, HTTP 1.0 determines the length of the message body using Content-Length and HTTP 1.1 server are supposed to send a Content-Length header to HTTP 1.0 clients. However, several sites like Myspace is very buggy and do not do this. Could someone explain what the Chunked Transfer Coding is for HTTP 1.1? I read the documentation here http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/rfc2616-sec3.html#sec3.6 but it's all greek to me :(. Can anybody give me code/hints on how to deal with this?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Shed some light on this issue please.

Ok guys and gals, forgive me if this is asked alot I tried to seach the topic first.
I am a 3d graphics major and know very little about web development but have some basic knowledge. My new boss has put me in charge of setting up our webpage.
Ok for starters I made this awesome concept in Photoshop, and sliced it up exported to Xhtml and CSS. It opened up great in dreamweaver, I had a few qustions on thngs. But those can wait. I started off w/ a very advanced design for a beginner, and decided to just go back and dumb it down for now while I learn, and for the sake of getting my point across in this thread.
    here is my slice setup:
Header, Footer, Nav, 3 content headers, and the columns where we will post updates in each column (news, events, and media).
Ok my code right out of the Photoshop export looks like this.

Now that everythings on the table, here is my problem, I hope its an easy fix.
How do I add text in Dreamweaver ontop of the slices I made....mainly those three content columns I made. I know I could just edit the text onto the images before export, but I plan on having to edit this page alot content wise.

I am a 3d graphics major and know very little about web development but have some basic knowledge. My new boss has put me in charge of setting up our webpage.
You have my condolences.  I hope your new boss is willing to pay you while you learn basic web design skills, too.  It's a little shocking to me that anyone in their right mind would place something so important (their company web site) into the hands of an inexperienced site developer.  This would be like taking your sick child or pet to an inexperienced doctor.
First off, Photoshop is a great graphics editor but it is a terrible html code generator.  Use Photoshop to make comps, slice and optimize images for the web.  Do not let it create your code for you.  This feature is only intended for quick prototypes to show the client during the design phase.  It is not intended to be used as a production site.
Second, bookmark and read through  the tutorials below.  DW is a powerful tool but it's only as good as the skills you bring to the table.
Third, if this is your first site in DW,  don't try & get get too fancy your first time out.  Keep your layout simple, clean, uncluttered.  The less complicated you make your first site, the better.
    Good luck,

  • Please shed some light

Hi, I am using Time Machine with Time Capsule. It is always turned off but I initiate backups manually daily from the TM preference panel. I noticed that each time I launch a backup, a LOT of MBs are indeed backed-up even when I had little to none activity on my computer which is usually turned off all day at home. As an example, tonight I did a little regular browsing on a couple of sites, nothing more since my previous backup yesterday evening, but still Time Machine stored 690 MBs more I can't imagine that my browsing history is that significant in less than half-hour with now download! Am I missing something? Thanks for your help.

Normally TM does hourly backups. When you only backup manually on a daily basis many more files are changed then would have changed in an hour. You can minimize some of the data by excluding your /System/ and /Library/ folders from the backup. Files in these folders are constantly changed by OS X behind the scenes.

  • Can someone take a look at my error log please

    MAC Mini 10.8.5
    Hi
My Mac's been behaving weird. I ran Avast as well as a full Avira scan to make sure it is not a Trojan or some malware. However, still the MAC freezes up and my email's just been hacked. Just now my MAC did a weird thing: I was just writing an email - the only thing that was running was one Google Chrome window- and my MAC just suddenly shut down on me. When it cam back after the auto restart I had an Avast error screen showing that there was an 'internal error'. Couldn't find out what that error was though. Thanks in advance.
Here is the MAC error log:

I remember several occasions where files where downloaded onto my MAC without even allowing or initiating/ asking for the download. You just open a page and the next thing you know you see that something is being downloaded. Although I immediately trashed the downloaded file weird stuff keeps happening.
Recently my emails got hacked, twice, even after changing password..and worst of all, in the last few short weeks my bank has cancelled my card 3 times and sent me a new one, because it had been cloned- every time I have anew card it gets cloned. I do not use it anywhere but my own bank's ATM...and this MAC.
It's almost as if someone has installed something on my MAC that cannot be detected and that can see everything I do. Sounds a bit paranoid- but I really can't understand how the card fraud and email hacks keep happening!
In any case, I have run Etrecheck and here are the results:

Thanks! I suspected that as well, but I think it is when Carbon Copy Cloner runs together with Paragon NTFS that I'm getting the problem. Does that make sense?
May I ask which part of the log should I be looking at to see what is causing the kernel panic?

  • Can anyone shed some light on how to run window based application on mac air?  I must run Meta Trader 4 platform and MS Office.

    Hello,
Can anyone please shed some light on how I can run MS Office and Meta Trader 4 platform on mac air.  I have been using Play on Mac and Wine for the past couple of weeks, but now suddenly it has stopped working, only crashing and giving me nightmares.  Is it juts best to install the latest Windows or Parallel?
    Regards Joe

Meta Trader 4 is Windows only - Office is available for the Mac and Windows and are mostly compatible but given that you'll be doing online trading you may prefer the Windows version of Excel since there are financial spreadsheets with macros that only run on the Mac with some significant editing.
You can install Windows 7 or 8 in BootCamp or any version of Windows usting virtualization. VMWare and Parallels are commercial programs and VirtualBox is open source. VB may be all you need. Whatever solution you choose, you'll need a commercial version of Windows (or get an OEM disc from NewEgg).

i have lost my photos/videos when i imported from my ipad 2 to my new imac latest version OS X 10.8.4
and it's not reading the files.  I have downloaded iMac library manager and can see them.  when i go back into iphoto i'm getting the following message :
Do you want to switch the current iPhoto Library from “iPhoto Library.photolibrary” to “iPhoto Library.photolibrary” and relaunch iPhoto?
I don't know what to do - please help !!!!
can someone shed some light please ?

So it appears you have only one library on the hard drive. Apply the two fixes below in order as needed to that library:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Hello (hopefully someone can shed some light on my issue)
I own as above a MAC PRO (Early 2008) this has a RAID card installed along with two 15k.7 cheetah hdd (320gb) and a spare drive, (which i made a regular drive)
a while ago i had to replace the RAID card battery, so i did this, over a year later the same thing happened again, but as previous just left it and the system seemed fine for ages, until last night i was working in PHOTOSHOP and everything just froze and the screen kind of appeared GREEN, could not do a single thing. So restarted the mac, this time grey screen for ages and a message appeared, (macs version of blue screen) (see attached).
I restarted the machine and this time a flashing question mark folder!
    could not do a thing.
so i found my copy of snow leopard and got the computer to run this and at least launch the DISK UTILITY and (Interestingly in the drop down menu RAID UTILITY was also in the menu) but it did not matter which utility i used the (RAID or DISK) neither could see any of drives, just the dvd drive.
so looked around on you tube and various forums and discovered if i take out the RAID CARD and re-plug the main lead from the RAID card back in to the LOGIC BOARD I would be reverting the MAC to a normal regular non-RAID computer.
After performing this HARDWARE task and inserting all three HDD, and running the DISK utility from the drop down menu via the SNOW LEOPARD disc.
(interestingly since the RAID card had been removed the RAID UTILITY  from the drop down menu no longer appeared). running disk utility I can now only see the regular (spare) hdd and DVD Drive, but the two RAID HDD , again, still do not show up DISK UTILITY?
O.K. so i could chuck out the RAID card (AND RAID HDD) and just go with a regular set-up, and run a back restore from Time Machine on a NEW hdd purchased.
but what is wrong with the RAID, is the card at fault or are both HDD used for the RAID knackered? can i perform any tests, to see whats what?
thanks for your help in advanced.

hello people, the issue was in fact the GRAPHICS card nothing to do with the HDD or RAID system ( although this did cause issues with the RAID system it basically lost its way) below is my replay to another similar  problem some one else had!
working in photoshop and then everything stopped working and the lot froze! only option was to force shutdown (via button).
and try to restart, hoping all was fine, this was not the case :-(
I had the added issue of the RAID card system, that i have, this was confused to say the lease and would not behave or work, causing the start up to hang.
so i thought the HDD must be bust and the root cause. ( but soon learnt it was not the cause )
...bought a new HDD removed the RAID card and replugged the cable from RAID card into LOGIC board, ( making the computer act like any normal non-RAID system). I managed to install the OSX, using the snow leopard disk way. once the mac was running, i started to notice the screen would flicker and started to see 'artefacts'. so i started to reveal my symptoms to the web and forums and soon discovered that my graphics card could be the issue all along?.
    (nvidia geforce 8800gt 2x dvi).
I read up on that a fix, could be either A. reply the thermal paste, as the card could be over heating or B. stick the card in the oven trick.
Tried option A. first and nothing still issues, so last night took the plunge carried out option B. and ta da it worked! i even managed to run
from my new HDD my lasted install OS X, absolutely fine. I then thought, maybe i could repair my RAID so replugged all the HARDWARD back in and
carried out a disk repair and disk permissions on drives( took a small amount of time), via the SNOW LEOPARD disc - (Disk utilities) and this worked and now have my system working as it was just over 6 days ago.
what was the cost to get this?  bought a new hdd so 40.00gbp and thermal paste and cleaner kit ( your still need to do this ) search video card trick on you tube.
and renew thermal paste, approx 15.00gbp, technically i don't need the new HDD, but it was all part of the trial and error way i went. ( i do have extra storage as a result!)"

Thanks for that 'sberman' - because my iPhone is backed-up to my work computer (only at this stage) I have had to call our IT Department in Adleaide. (4 times this morning). The last guy managed to get the phone into 'DFU Mode' - no more recovery mode screen - (kind of 'asleep' perhaps) from my understanding of same. I am awaiting a call again from IT so they can get my computer to actually recognise my iPhone on the C Drive. This also happened to  one of my colleagues in Newman (WA). She got so frustrated with the whole process that she bought another phone the next time she was in 'civilisation.' She hasn't had any problems since. (Cross fingers).
    Thanks again, Sandra2474.

Who can shed some light on my ongoing connection problem.
After upgrading my iPad Air with IOS 7.06, I could no longer connect to the internet.
I have 2 MacBooks Air, 1 ipad mini and one iPhone 4S running on the same network, and they are all connected to the net and function well.
So I cleaned up the ipad completely, installed the latest firmware and reinstalled my apps : no connection.
I tried all things of resets and forgets. No result.
I have been fondling with my Airport Extreme 5 , but that did not help much.
This morning I went to a neighbor , hooked my ipad air on his network, typed the password and the thing all worked fine.
I have tried to connect the ipad air as an ethernet client, but that did not work. „Not enough power“ was the statement
    Ideas anyone ?

Yes I tried this manyfold. But did not work.  Reading on, I took Tesserac's advice. Shut down router and computer.
Start router after 15 minutes and wait another 10 minutes before starting the computer.
Et voila.... everything is back in working order,
    Regards form Curacao, Dutch Caribean.
