Can someone try and power off their iPhone completely and have someone send them an SMS text and see if they receive it after about a minute it has been off?
My iPhone when powered off does not receive SMS texts when powered back on.
I went to Apple they said everything in the phone is fine. I went to AT&T and they did their testing and told me to go to apple.
AT&T and Apple recommended I reset network settings and problem persisted. Then I was recommended to reset all settings and same problem. I was then recommended to restore my phone and set up as new and had the same problem. I received a new SIM card and that did not solve it. With AT&T they put my SIM card in another phone (android phone) shut it off and turned it back on after a while and I received the text. So I thought it was the iPhone that was bad. I ended up getting a replacement and still the same problem. So any ideas? I think it's an iOS 7 problem with iPhone 4.
I have this problem too, on an Iphone 4. I'm in the UK running IoS 7.0.4.
My network (Virgin) also told me to reset network settings which didn't work.
My bank, who I talked to because I'd missed there texts, said they'd had this reported by a number of people, and been told Apple it was a fault with Iphone 4 and 7.0.4.
I can point to about 6 or 7 threads talking about this exact problem, with a lot of people clicking 'I have this question too'
Any advice gratefully received, or if anyone has heard any news from Apple about this issue.

If you have a back up in iTunes, you can restore from that back up. The article below will assist with getting that backup restored.

My iMac won't boot up fully. It stays stuck in the gray screen with the pinwheel spinning, then after about 5 minutes just shuts itself off.
Try SMC Reset (unplug it from the back of the computer for 10 seconds then plug it back. in)
Try PRAM Reset Cmd + OPtion + P + R on start up.
Try safe boot - hold down shift on start up.
Try booting to install dvd (C on start up) or recovery hd (CMD + R) and using disk utility to run a verify and repair. If you still can't boot after that reinstall the operating system. If you can't find the disc or it wont boot to the disc.
Try single mode which is cmd+S on start up. It will open with a terminal looking window in the terminal. type in /sbin/fsck -TL. If it returns *system has been modified* continue to type that command in until it comes back with macintosh hd seems to be ok. If after 5 tries it still gives you system has been modified. You may have to replace the hard drive. -

After I connect my iPhone (3GS 5.0.1) to any Ad-hoc wireless Network then walk away out of the reach of my wifi network, my iPhone can't find any wifi Network afterwards, only by turning off the iPhone completely and turning on again.
switching off wifi and on again or going into airplane mode did't help!
This problem happens only with ad-hoc wifi networks not with normal ones.
(Ad-Hoc network was created on XP Computer)Welcome to Apple Discussions
Sorry, but the 169.x.x.x IP address is internally generated by the iPod (and iPhone) and indicates that a network has been detected but no IP address has been issued. Your friends iPhone was not connected to your ad hoc network either - it connected to the internet through the 3G network.
You should read through the Vista help screens on ad hoc networking for some insight how this works. You should be able to get some ideas there.
In the mean time, $40 or less will buy you a very capable wireless router with four Ethernet ports and will simplify your network tremendously. Having used Windows ICS for a long time, the addition of a router and a real network simplified things so much. -
I had to change my Apple ID and password in itunes. Now my icloud doesn't work and I can't update my apps on my iPhone. I have looked at suggestions on the community pages and apple suggestions but none of them are relevant to iOS 8.1.2
icloud just keeps bringing up my old email address & asking for my old password which doesn't exist anymore and when I try to sign out of icloud it wants my old password, when I tried to change my primary email back to the old one it wants me to verify it through an email address that doesn't exist. Please can you help me sort out this nightmare.Hi skippy2012trev,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you updated your Apple Id and password but now you are being prompted for the old information in iCloud. You are on the right track by changing the Apple ID back to the previous email address temporarily so that you can sign out. You should not need to verify the email address. After you edit the Apple ID back to the old email address and then sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, edit the Apple ID back to the address you would currently like to use. There is no need to change the password again, only the email address, unless you prefer to update the password again.
If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud - Apple Support
Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Tap Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
Scroll down and tap Sign Out, then tap Sign Out to confirm. If you're using iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
Tap Keep on My [Device] or Delete from My [Device]. In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.
Cheers,

I have broken my screen and cannot access my iphone. I have an icloud account which I have used to back up my phone previously but nothing is showing on the website in contacts etc. As I can enter my pin I cannot connect it to a laptop. Is there anyway of backinh up my data, pictures etc?
No there isn't. If you check iCloud, you are not showing any backups at all? Did you have the phone set to sync contacts in iCloud, or were you just backing up to iCloud? If you were just backing up, then you should be able to access the backup, but if you were not syncing, then you probably cannot see the contacts in iCloud. You would have to wait until you restore from the backup to see them. You will probably have to go onto the iCloud website to erase and remove the device from Find My iPhone if you want to clear it off.

my iphone 4 only turns on when its plugged into a wall and when it finally turns on it lasts for about a minute then it turns off and while its on the signal says searching, what should i do?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. You likely have a bad battery.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one with a new battery for $79. They do not fix yours.
Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following will replace yur battery for less. Google for more.

Replace the battery yourself if you are up to it. A replacement costs about $10

I updated my 3GS to os5 and set up icloud and it backed it up, although, the backup says incomplete. I turned off the contacts under icloud and they are now all gone off the iphone. How do I get them back? I feel like they are in icloud, because the contacts went to another iphone i have.
I did turn the contacts back on and it didnt work. I am hoping the wi-fi connection I am on at school is not compatible, and it will work when I get home. Thanks!

None of my iDevices can read my iTunes library after about 30 minutes. My iDevices lose connection to my library and I have to do one of the three following things in iTunes to regain connectivity: 1. Restart iTunes 2: Stop / Start Home Services 3: Start playing a song.
I'ts as if iTunes goes into a background or sleep mode. During the loss of connectivity my iDevices show that there's a library shared, but I cannot connect to it.Smae issue here, but I'm unable to get Home Sharing started again (after MAc and iOS restarts, Home Sharing on/off. etc.) This happend a few weeks ago and turngin Home Sharing Off/On fixed the connection issue b/w iPad2 5.1 and iTunes 10.6.1 running on a OSX10.6.8.
I updated to iOS 5.1.1 on iPad2 today, watched a movie and then about 20 minutes into a 2nd movie I lost connection (Sharing tab in Video app disappeared and has not come back.) The update seems like the culprit, but odd it worked for over 2 hours before stopping, odd I can't get Sharing to work anymore (iTunes see's my iOS devices b/c I can conenct to iTunes to enter my passcod efor connecting the Remote app.) Appears to be an issue with iTunes broadcasting Home Sharing, even thougt it says it is on. -
I just bought a Iphone 5 -- my Iphone 4 and my ipad used to automatically sinc calendars via the Icloud whenever I entered anything on either device -- I can not get the new phone to do this.I have check the settings on both devices and they seem to be t
There are only two things that you must do to connect a device to calendars:
1) In settings>icloud, you must log in, WITH THE CORRECT ID/PASSWORD, and
2) Turn on calendars on the same page.
You said that the iphone 4 and ipad **used** to automatically sync. Do they no long sync?
