Can't Blogpost list on home page??

Question

Hi folks.  I am not sure why this feature is missing, but I wan't to create a list of posts as they appear under recent posts on the blog page, but I want to do it on the home page.  I am told by tech that this is not possible.  I think this is pretty lame.  I was wondering if there is a workaround?  I  tried to use blogsummary module and I used CSS to remove author and date, but still it is displaying compressed and too far to the right.  The tag recent posts don't work but there is nothing comparable in the modules.  You'd think a simple feature like those available on WordPress would be available here. If there is, tech doesn’t' seem to know about it.

But when I add it to our home page, it shows as raw code: {tag_blogrecentpost}
I tried using {module_blogsitesummary,-1,5} but it prints out author and date which I don't need in a sidebar menu.
Why doesn't the home page list the recent posts, and how can I get it to display the same as in the blog page sidebar menu?
Tags are used on the layouts (for blogs etc.) and modules are meant to be used on web pages.
If you are going to use any tag on a web page it will not render.
