Can't install a sata disk on a K9agm3

Hello ya'all
I'm tryng to install a Hitachi 320GB sata disk on a k9agm3 with winxp 32, i have used all drivers on CD-ROM, but system can't boot on AHCI mode, also I downloaded driver from webpage but nothing ... What driver may I use?
 Thanks in advance

Turn AHCI off and you will be fine.
AHCI doesn't work well under anything but Vista, however it isn't faster or anything.
Simply turn it off and be happy.

  • How many IDE drives & CDrom can be installed with SATA drives??

How many IDE drives & CDrom can be installed with SATA drives??
i have 2 IDE hard disks & 2 CDROM drives: can install SATA hard disk added to these drives or do i have to remove some???
& if it can be added, can i install 2 SATA drives???
    THX in advance

The 3 versions of this board that are available are:
    875P Neo-FISR (PCB 2.0)
    875P Neo-LSR (PCB 1.0)
    875P Neo-FIS2R (PCB 1.0)
All of these boards will have the following ports provider by the chipsets ICH5R south bridge.
2 x SATA (Supporting 2 SATA HDD drives)
    2 x PATA (Supporting 4 IDE devices)
All 6 of these can be used at the same time (provided you are using win XP or 2K) you just need to make sure yor BIOS is set right.
    ->INTEGRATED PERIPHERALS
    ->ON-CHIP IDE CONFIG
ATA CONFIG: S-ATA ONLY or P-ATA ONLY
    S-ATA/P-ATA KEEP ENABLED: YES
    OPERATE MODE:
If you set to "legacy mode" S-ATA are set to channel 1 and 2 and P-ATA to channel 3 and 4. If you set to "native mode" P-ATA are channel 1 and 2 and S-ATA 3 and 4. You can only use the raid functionfon SATA in native mode.
If you have the 875P Neo-FIS2R (PCB 1.0) you will also have the following ports provided by the Promise PDC20378 PCI controller:
2 x SATA (Supporting 2 SATA HDD drives)
1 x PATA (Supporting 1 Master IDE HDD drive)
The PATA port is limited to 1 Master HDD by the lite BIOS. This can in theory be upgraded to the full BIOS supporting a master and a slave, but this may obviously void your warranty.
So the answer to your origional question is:
    2 x SATA HDDs and 4 x IDE HDD/CDROM if you have 875P Neo-FISR (PCB 2.0) or 875P Neo-LSR (PCB 1.0)
    or
    4 x SATA HDDs, 1 x IDE HDD (2 if you modify the BIOS) and 4 x IDE HDD/CDROM if you have 875P Neo-FIS2R (PCB 1.0)

  • How can i install a sata hard drive in my compaq nx6110

There is a rediculously small hard drive installe in my laptop 40gb. I want to install at least a 240 gb but only can find sata drives that size. How do I go about installing the sata drive.

You cannot install a SATA drive, and you can't go up to 240
because the BIOS is not "48 bit" compatible.
This limits you to 137 GB or less. There are plenty of 120 GB drives
on Ebay for pretty good prices; just search this phrase:
    "2.5 PATA 120"
    Good luck

  • Can I install a SATA drive in Mirror Drive Door G4?

I am looking at a Seagate 500 GB SATA drive at a great price at MWave ($109.) but see that SATA may require a different cable connector from the IDEs that I normally use in my box. Can I buy some kind of adaptor cable, or do I have to get a card of some kind. Where and how much?
Or, could I install the SATA (it's a ST3500630AS) in an external enclosure that fits ATA 133 3.5 hard drives?
    Thanks,

    Hi
You'd need a Mac compatible PCI card containing a SATA controller. The FirmTek SeriTek 1S2 or Sonnet Tempo is a popular two port choice (they're effectively the same card) and are available for around $70.
The Sonnet Tempo at least comes with a single SATA data cable, and a single power converter cable that allows you to use a legacy molex power connector (as found in the G4s) to power a SATA drive. Some SATA drives come with both power connectors anyway, hence the converter cable isn't required, but I don't think the Seagates do.
I use SATA drives in my G4 as they're marginally faster, the cabling is generally easier and more importantly they can also be moved to newer Macs in the future which support SATA drives natively. For me the extra cost of a SATA card was worthwhile.

SATA cards are also available from ACARD and SIIG etc.

  • Satellite M70 - Can't install from recovery disk

    Hi,
I had to remove the HDD from Toshiba Satellite M70 to use it on my Compaq laptop (Compaq HDD crashed). I had to install XP and other stuff after creating 2 partions and used it with Compaq Laptop without any problem. Now I got a new HDD for compaq and fixed the Toshiba HDD back in.
Using the recovery CD I wanted to restore the Toshiba to its original state.
I have the Product recovery DVD-rom. F12 abd selecting cd/dvd would not do the recovery.
Error loading operating system is the message I get.
I can even install with my other original XP pro cd.
Once I put the HDD back to Compaq its working fine, I can even install XP.
What is the cause. Is it has to do anything with MBR?
I am very familiar with computers so please give me a way out of this!
    Thank you all,
    Regards,

    Hi
In my opinion the case is clear. If you can install the notebook with a normal Microsoft installation disk and the HDD works properly in another computer its something wrong with the Toshiba recovery disk, maybe its scratched.
What you can do is to install the notebook using the Microsoft disk. Then download and install all drivers from the Toshiba website.
Alternative you order a new recovery disk from an authorized service provider.
Its your choice what you do. ;)

  • Can I install a SATA III HDR in my Pavillion dv6628us laptop?

I would like to know if I can install a SATA III hde in my laptop before I purchase one. Thank you.

Yes it will be a major upgrade but frankly I might hesitate to spend more on an upgrade to a laptop than the laptop itself is worth. Kind of like putting $5000 of rims and tires on a $2000 car. Makes it look nicer and maybe ride better but what have you really got? You would be better off buying a $5000 car.

  • Can't see my sata disk suddenly.

I used to have it mounted on /home over my xfs disk(which also had a /home, but that shouldn't matter right!?). The sata disk was/is a ext3 disk. And i'm sorry but this is all i can tell:
    1. i got a ext3 error spitted out on console.
    2. i think, a sudo fuser -km /dev/sdb
    3. sudo umount /dev/sdb
Then i reebooted and suddenly /dev/sdb doesn't exist in /dev...
edit: found a log for my ext3 errors: http://pastebin.archlinux.org/1236
Id the disk is the culprit, which tests should i run on it to see what's wrong with it. I suppose i could run some tests with some programs even though i can't even see it in /dev.
I'm running -fallback standard arch kernel, since that's the only one i got working. (For history and perhaps more clues pertaining to this problem see http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=29132)

  • Can't install OSX downloads "Disk doesn't meet requirements"

Brand new Mac Mini 2012  2.3 quad Core i7.   When attempting to install any Mountain Lion updates downloaded from Apple support site (10.8.2 or 10.8.2 Supplemental update) Installer will not proceed and says "Can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements..."
Happened on two identical brand new mac Minis with no other data on them, and Apple senior tech support said they had never seen it and had nothing else to try after wiping the drives and reinstalling several times.
Just curious if anyone else has seen or could duplicate this issue.

This is what I've been instructed to do now (all with no success):
Restart the computer, holding down the option key and then do a restore.
Download the 10.8.2 Combo update and try and install.
Restart the computer, holding down the option key and then do an erase & then restore.
Download the 10.8.2 Combo update and try and install again!
Restart the computer, holding down the option key and then do an erase with zeroes & then restore.
Try and buy Mountain Lion from the App Store. (Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer)
My case has also been escalated. I asked about the DL1603 but they knew no more (or even less) than I did.

  • Can't Install my SATA drive on fresh install of XP.

Ok, Im gonna post all the details because I have also tried some things peeps suggested and they have not worked so I think maybe I have a different problem.
First, im trying to install Windows XP in a new system on a WD raptor 74 GB.  I know the power supply is hooked up right(using the SATA power connector) and I have the SATA cable connected to the VIA controller(SER1).  In bios, I have the SATA controller under PCI periphirals(the one peeps say is the PROMISE controller) disabled and I have the VIA PATA and SATA enabled.  When I go into windows XP setup, I press f6, it brings up the install SATA/RAID or whatever portion.  I press S and add the VIA SATA raid controller for WinXP off of the VIA disk and press enter to install.  It goes through a bunch of loading stuff and then goes to the winXP install screen.  I press enter to install XP but it says there is no hard disk installed.  Please help, really aggravating me now :(.  Thanks in advance!

  • Can I install CS3 without disk? Have key registered.

My old laptop crashed and of course after my move, I can't find my cs3 disks.
I have my serial key registered through Adobe (shows up in my "sign-in" info when I log into the website) and all.
I tried finding the download files through the website but it kees tossing me to cs6 and well, I can't justify that money when I had cs3...
Thanks for the help in advance. I was thinking I'd try to contact adobe by email but apparently I can't do that and the call wait time is heinous and the link to chat apparently "has been deleted" anytime I click on it... Sigh.

  • Can't install window xp (disk error)

i want to install my window. but after i install it and it say disk error and tell me to press any key to restart. But i can't press any key,the keyboard is frozen.
    what should i do.any advice?

    1) The installation works fine on a separate internal empty disk drive. Just insert a SATA drive format it -Mac OS Extended (Journaled)- partition it with Boot Camp and install windows xp pro w/sp2 - OEM. It works. Windows evidently needs lots of uncluttered space with no competition. The more disk space it has the better this works. Obviously you need to have a computer that will accept more than one disk drive like a Mac Pro.
    2) The answer I am looking for, however, is how to successfully install windows xp on a partition of the main hard drive that is the Boot drive for OSX.
    3) There are two softwares on Version Tracker (Paragon NTFS 7.0.2 & NTFS-3G 2009.4.4) that can format the drive in NTFS but I have had no success in making the Windows start up after installing on the NTFS formatted partition.
    4) The answer needs to be either a utility that creates the right atmosphere for windows much like Parallels and VMWare do or a way to enter a couple lines of code that would direct windows to reformat the Boot Camp Partition in NTFS rather than immediately loading windows onto a FAT32 drive that will not boot. I'm not smart enough to create either of these. ----HELP----
    5) I am disappointed that Apple was not more specific in their "Boot Camp Setup and Installation Guide" by telling the user what versions of Windows will not work. I have one piece of software that has never been written for an Apple computer in the last ten years or longer and it is not going to happen in the foreseeable future so I need to run windows. ---Come on Apple solve the problem.----

  • Can't install Mavericks, damaged disk, restore from Time Machine, unable to find destination disk. What to do?

After downloading Mavericks, tried installing, it told me that I have a damaged disk and to restore from backup. Selected Time Machine's latest backup. Then I was prompted to select backup disk. My only option was the Mac HD icon with a "?" on top of it, unable to verify disk. With the "continue" button grayed out, I hit the back button a few times in an attempt to start over. I went back to the install page and it started installing. 40 minutes later it was up and running. Every thing seemed fine. I tried opening GarageBand, I got the spinning wheel. Then a prompt page asking me to select a language. I selected English and the computer shutdown. It being late and I being frustrated, I decided to wait until morning.
On startup I got the message that I have a damaged disk and to restore from backup. Selected Time Machine's latest backup. Then I was prompted to select backup disk. This time there was no icon or anything to choose from.
I'm wondering if I need to use my original Mac mini, Mac OS X install DVD, or is it time for a trip to the Apple store.
    Ideas and options welcome.
    Thanks

It sounds as if your hard drive may have failed or may be failing. Boot your computer from the REcovery Disk by holding down the Command+R keys during the boot. From the Recovery drive you can run Disk Utility.  Once in DU select your hard drive then run "Repair Disk".
If errors are found and repaired run Repair Disk a second time.

  • Can't install ML. Disk used for time machine

When I choose my machintosh HD drive to install mountain lion says "This disk is used for time machine backups". HELP!!!

Although this may be too late for the OP, here's the answer: If you see a Backups.backupdb folder on your main harddrive, either remove it or rename it. That seems to be the only qualifier for calling a disk a Time Machine Backups disk as far as the installer is concerned.
