Can't Install SC VMM 2012 SP1 BETA

Attempting to deploy in server that previously had SCVMM 2012 RTM, initially I updated SCVMM 2012 RTM with CTP1. Prior to BETA installation I uninstalled SCVMM 2012 and then installed SCVMM2012 SP1.
During installation process, started from setup.exe; the setup starts to install SCVMM 2012 component, then fails, then the roll-back process starts and then fails prompted with the following GUI message:
Installing E:\SourceCode\Microsoft\SCVMM\SCVMM2012-BETA\amd64\setup\msi\Server\vmmServer.msi failed with Windows Installer error 1603.See C:\ProgramData\VMMLogs\vmmServer.log for more information. After resolving the problem, retry setup.
When I analyse the vmmServer.log I get the following:

Hi
What base OS are you using?
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/library/gg610562.aspx#BKMK_SupportedOS
Are all the components of the CTP release definitely removed from the server.
Also just noticed this which might help:

  • SCVMM 2012 SP1 Beta Installation Errors

    Hi All,
Pulling my hair out trying to get SCVMM 2012 SP1 Beta to install on a Windows 2012 machine. The machine was a new installation and had IIS installed, Hyper-V Role, Failover Clustering, SQL Server 2012, AD (it is a domain controller).
Getting an error regarding Failover Clustering, which is definitely installed with all management tools and powershell module. Have even tried uninstalling it and then running the VMM Setup, and I then get a different error. Logs from both installation attempts
    are below:

  • How do I update my VMM 2012 SP1 Guest Services to be the same as the Hosts?

    VMM 2012 SP1 and Server 2012 Hyper-V Cluster
How do I update my VMM Guest Services to be the same as the Hosts?
In VMM 2012 SP1 I right click on a VM and select “Install Virtual Guest Services” it installs as expected.
    Cluster validation reports this error:
The following virtual machines are running integration services that does not match the host computer. You must update the
integration services on the virtual machines or the host computer to the same version.
I am able to go to the VM on host and update the Guest Services using the hyper-v manager but I would like it to work in VMM.
The version on the ISOs on the host is.  6.2.9200.16433 and the version being installed by VMM is 6.2.9200.16383.
I am not sure where VMM gets the it’s guests services from.
Any idea on how I update VMM to match the host?
    Thanks,
    -Lee

I hope this does not have to be done from each VM in the cluster (hundreds for me in some clusters)?
I am stunned this cant be done in VMM!!
Validate your cluster????  I am hoping cluster validation is better/faster/less prone to time out storage during the storage tests in 2012?
Does Microsoft know how easy this is to do in VMware? (shift click all VM's, right click "Install/Upgrade VMware Tools)
    Thanks, -Lindy
I know right - I am really trying to be positive about this 'great stuff' that MS have brought us, but really - Going back to the Hosts to do each vm individually??? And saying you can do it in Powershell.....
I loved the days of DOS, I still use the concepts of it, but I thought we had (or that we were) evolving!!!!!

  • System Center Virtual Machine Manager SC VMM 2012 SP1 Installation fails: Unable to assign the name NO_PARAM to this host because this name is already in use.

I'm trying to install VMM 2012 SP1 on a Windows Server 2012 machine and it fails with this error,
    the scenario is as follows,
Old database (from 2012 RTM) exists on remote SQL 2012 SP1 server
Server was 2008 R2 SP1 so I decided to make a fresh installation of 2012 with the same name
    installed ADK
specific error: 01:42:13:VMMPostinstallProcessor threw an exception: Threw Exception.Type: Microsoft.VirtualManager.Setup.Exceptions.BackEndErrorException, Exception.Message: Unable to assign the name NO_PARAM to this host because this name is already in
    use.
    please help

I had a similar problem today when upgrading from SCVMM 2012 RTM to SCVMM 2012 SP1 RTM. To re-create the issue you describe originally you can actually just uninstall SCVMM 2012 SP1 RTM with "retain data" option and re-install the software on the same
computer (with the same name of course), attaching it to the retained DB. If you change the SCVMM server name I believe it will make some things go wrong after your install, like missing VM template passwords for example as the data gets encrypted in
the DB. Maybe it didn't but I didn't risk it. I definitely know if you change service accounts on a scenario like this you will be without the encrypted DB data which isn't much fun. To avoid changing the computer name, if you look in the setup log
files in %systemdrive%\ProgramData\VMMLogs\, specifically the SetupWizard.log file. You will see details on it failing because the same computer name is in the DB table "dbo.tbl_ADHC_AgentServer" and until it is removed from that table I wasn't able to get
the install to complete at all. The error in my logs looked something like this "InnerException.Type: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException, InnerException.Message: Violation of UNIQUE KEY constraint 'unique_ADHC_AgentServer_ComputerName'. Cannot insert duplicate
key in object 'dbo.tbl_ADHC_AgentServer'. The duplicate key value is (computername.is.writtenhere). The statement has been terminated." In the row data in the DB it also seems to suggest that the computer name had "Virtual Machine Manager Library Files" on
it which is strange since I always remove the local SCVMM server as a library server after I install it and use an off box library server.

  • SCCM 2012 SP1 Beta Site System Roles Installation issues

My apologies if this isn't the correct place to post this, but I didn't see any SCCM 2012 forums to post this. If there is a better place for this post, please direct me to the proper location. In the meantime this is my scenario:
I am currently evaluating SCCM 2012 for our company. I have installed SCCM 2012 SP1 Beta on a test server running Server 2012 and SQL 2012. I am testing its ability to manage Windows 8. The server is a member of our company domain. I have enabled Active
Directory Forest Discovery and CM has detected our forest and domain and set up boundaries automatically.
I am trying to add the Application Catalog Web Service and Website Roles. When I start the wizard I get exclamation marks next to Active Directory forest and domain fields in the wizard. It shows our proper forest and domain names but won't proceed
because it insists that the FQDN for my forest/domain is invalid. If I enter any other forest/domain name (e.g. yahoo.com, google.com, help-me.com) the exclamation marks clear and the wizard will proceed. SC seems to recognize our forest/domain name and
denies it. Adding different suffixes (e.g. .net, .org, .local) changes nothing. I've even flipped our forest-domain name (e.g. "a-b.com" to "b-a.com": we have a "-" in our name) and it STILL denies it. If I add a prefix to the forest/domain name, the
wizard is happy and lets me proceed (e.g. "domain.a-b.com") Did I miss something in initial setup? If this is a bug in the SP1 beta, how do I let anyone know about this? Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Since no one has answer this post, I recommend opening  a support case with CSS as they can work with you to solve this problem.

I've recall that I've tried to help people with this error before, but I'm sure they were able to sort it out.
    Anyway, this blog post,
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqljourney/archive/2012/10/09/sql-2008-service-fails-to-come-online-with-a-valid-certificate-could-not-be-found-and-it-is-not-possible-to-create-a-self-signed-certificate.aspx
suggests the issue is a corrupted user profile, and you should try to use a different service account.
This blog also seems to have a simple solution, but I cannot vouch for that it will work:

I tried installing SQL Server 2012 and it failed because I don't have the SP1 for VS2010.
I installed SP1 successfully, but now I can't install the SQL Server 2012.
Error says: Managed SQL Server 2012 has stopped
I have scanned many forums but cannot find the answer.
I have .Net frameworks 3.5 and 4.0 installed in my laptop, still, no progress.
Please help me with this. Thanks a lot.

Check below thread seems to be similar issue
You need to enable .NET Framework 3.5 using Control Panel
Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn on or off features.

    Your help is highly appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Regards,

    Mine is solved.
Was because I removed VMM 2012 R2 on the same host (again, because R2 doesn't do P2V conversions) but the uninstall failed to remove "Microsoft Web Deploy 3.5". When VMM 2012 SP1 installs uses Web Deploy 3.0 and was blocked by the newer version. uninstalled
3.5 and then the console install worked.
hopes this helps someone out there.

  • Can I install Windows Server 2012 r2 essentials over Windows 7 Pro

I have new hardware that came with windows 7 pre-installed. It meets and exceeds hardware requirements. Can i install Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials on this machine. What is the procedure? Any help would be grateful.
    Thanks
    Woodrow

    Hi.
I agree with Milos on this; if you want to install Windows Server 2012 Essentials on a machine which suppose to use Windows 7, I would use it solely for test purposes.
Could you tell us what the computer specifications are???
For anything more serious (and I can see that you want to use this machine for accounting software), I would suggest purchasing a server machine.
However, if you really really want this machine to be Windows Server 2012 Essentials, check this article on technet:

P.S. As Milosh sugested, please do a backup first

  • How do I completely uninstall intego net barrier? I can't install Norton Antivirus 2012 until this is off my computer

How do I completely uninstall intego net barrier? I can't install Norton Antivirus 2012 until this is off my computer. And I can not get it off my Computer. ANyone?

Intego has their own uninstaller which is the best thing to use. Otherwise, see the following. From a practical point of view you really don't need any such software on the Mac.
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead.  Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
    AppZapper
    Automaton
    Hazel
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
For more information visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on removing software.

  • Error 1603 trying to uninstall SC VMM 2012 SP1 UR4

Trying to upgrade to VMM 2012 R2. As per http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn469607.aspx I try to uninstall VMM 2012 SP1 first. With no luck though.
    Log says
CustomAction DisableWsmanCredSSP returned actual error code 1603
    Any solution?

Same problem here. Uninstalling SCVMM 2012 SP1 stops with error 1603 and CustomAction DisableWsmanCredSSP returned actual error code 1603 message in the log file. Did anyone fix this issue?

  • Uninstalling VMM 2012 SP1 can cause any Network or Shared Storage Issues?

    Hello There,
I'm studying for the 70-409 Exam and also planning to reinstall the VMM 2012 on my company, since it was created a long time ago and somehow the old administrator created the environment in a way that only he could understand.
After looking online and don't find any answers, I decided to create this thread to see if anyone can help me. My questions are:
1 - If I Uninstall the VMM, my Hosts will loose any network configuration? I already checked and I am not using any Logical Switches in the current configuration, and only have some Logical Networks created. Removing the VMM can cause any network issues
on the physical hosts or in the VMs under it?
2 - Is there a guid somewhere about the Uninstall process? It could be in a book, there is no problem in buying it, but i really cannot find it anywhere.
    Thanks!

    Hello Ed,
So, it will cause some disruption, but the VM's and the Hyper-V Hosts will be disconnected from the Network or it will be a "temporary" disruption?
I Will try to explain better my concern: The VMM, as it is on my company, is useless. I really need to rebuild the entire Farm from the Scrath, document the project and start to use the VMM software. We are starting to use a lot of Hyper-V Vms and it's very
hard to keep using the Hyper-V Manager.
I dont have Logical Switches in place, neither IP Address Pool published. I got some Logical Networks and VM Networks in place, but my Logical Networks are empty, with no IP Address and Sites/VLAN associated.
I Also don't have any Storages Published on the Fabric. If I remove my VMM server, i will change something on the Vswitches of the Physical Servers? Which will be the best plan to reinstall my Hyper-V Farm?
    Thank you!

  • Non supported version of SQL with new install of SCOM 2012 SP1

I have SQL 2012 SP1 running on Server 2012.  I have tried the SCOM installation with and without CU2 (to fix the 1618 installation error)
SC VMM installed cleanly and appears to work.
The install for SCOM produces an error that says, "The installed version of SQL Server is not supported".  I have not been able to find any log from the install that has that error in it.
Also, I have not been able to determine the true requirements of the SQL server for SCOM.  (I found dock SCOM 2012 RTM and SQL 2008 R2, but noting for 2012 SP1.
Can someone point me to the correct place for the install log with (hopefully more information) and/or the requrements for the SQL installation?
    Roy

The log is not created yet because it has not started the install.
The firewall is the most common issue indeed. Temporarily Disable the firewall and see whether you can continue.
Are you using a developers edition? The only 2 editions supported are standard and Enterprise.
The true requirements for SCOM 2012 sp1:
We recommend that you check for updates and hotfixes for SQL Server. Note the following database considerations for Operations Manager:
SQL Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2012 are available in both Standard and Enterprise editions. Operations Manager will function with both editions.
Operations Manager does not support hosting its databases or SQL Server Reporting Services on a 32-bit edition of SQL Server.
Using a different version of SQL Server for different Operations Manager features is not supported. The same version should be used for all features.
SQL Server collation settings for all databases must be one of the following: SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS, French_CI_AS, Cyrillic_General_CI_AS, Chinese_PRC_CI_AS, Japanese_CI_AS, Traditional_Spanish_CI_AS, or Latin1_General_CI_AS.  No other collation
    settings are supported.
The SQL Server Agent service must be started, and the startup type must be set to automatic.
Side-by-side installation of System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 reporting and System Center 2012 Service Pack 1 (SP1), Operations Manager reporting on the same server is not supported.
The db_owner role for the operational database must be a domain account. If you set the SQL Server Authentication to Mixed mode, and then try to add a local SQL Server login on the operational database, the Data Access service will not be able to start.
For information about how to resolve the issue, see System Center Data Access Service Start Up Failure Due to SQL Configuration Change
If you plan to use the Network Monitoring features of System Center 2012 – Operations Manager, you should move the tempdb database to a separate disk that has multiple spindles. For more information, see
    tempdb Database.

  • Installing KB2888944 on 2012 SP1 - am I missing something?

MY company has been using SCVMM 2012 SP1 (Update Rollup 5) for a while but, given we already have SCCM, we only recently started playing with SCVMM's service templates.  When we try to depoy a service template, the VMM Guest Agent installs but the can't
start, resulting in a deployed but not customized VM.  It looks like others resolved similar issues by downloading and installing KB2888944.  But when I try to install the update, I get a message that Windows Installer won't instal the patch becuase
the program it's for is missing.  I've tried to install this a few ways:
    * double click
    * "msiexec /update" from a command prompt (with and without administrative privilege)
    * directly on the MSI via old school "msiexec /p kb288944_vmmguestagent_amd64.msp /a vmmguestagent.msi"
    * redownloaded the updates from microsoft update catalog and tried the same methods with new files.
All roads seem to lead to the same error message.  What am I doing wrong?

    According to this:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/systemcenterpt/archive/2013/10/23/update-rollup-4-for-system-center-2012-service-pack-1.aspx  That is from UR4.
