Can't log in as administrator

I click on Software Update and it tells me there is a Security Update 2007-009 available. I click on install and it asks for name and password. When I enter it, it tells me it's not the right one.
To make sure, I went to accounts to see if I could change my password for administrator. It let me, so I tried the install again and it is still telling me to enter a valid name and password. Everything was fine until today. I never had a problem installing updates. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. I was able to install the update on my Mac Pro.

Thanks. I tried the above but it didn't work. My old password was 9 characters so I changed it to 8. When it rebooted it asked for the name and password. I entered it and everything was fine. When I went to Software Update and it asked me to enter the name and password, it said it was the wrong one.
Now, I thought it might have something to do with Time Machine so I tried to turn it off. Guess what? It wants me to enter the name and password, which it will not accept!

I upgraded to 10.4.8 and now I can't log in as administrator. At the log in screen, it will go away after I enter the passwordand act like it will work, but then the log in screen will appear again. I have a test account that I am still able to log in to. If i try operations that require the administrator password in this account, the password works. I tried turning the automatic log in for the administrator on in the test account and restarting it, but then the gray screen with the circle never goes away. Problem with software update - now can't log on to administrator account

Hello -
I updated software yesterday and didn't pay attention to what was updating. I always just install the updates when they come up.
Now I can't login to my administrator account or change the password. I could log into another account, but iTunes won't stay open. It opens for about 10 seconds then closes.
So I'm assuming that the updates were a mac OSX update and an iTunes update.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix?
Is there anyway to "undo" the most recent update?
Any help would be appreciated.

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates.
May even need to do an Archive and Install if you have room on the HD...

Now, my Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise server are running in the domain. It have problem about some one in my team have remote my server with the user administrator while I'm remote it now. It make my session loss. I tried to remote it again but I found

The cause of unable to remote back to the server seems to be services hung, please try to reset session as the article below guides to see if it works:

My laptop (HP Pavilion) will not allow me to upgrade or download Firefox without logging in as Administrator, and I don't recall ever setting up a password for Administrator...I'm the only user of the laptop. How can I get around this?

I was trying to upgrade to the newest version of Firefox, and when I downloaded it, and clicked on run, it took me to a login box, where I had to choose whether to continue as current user or login as Administrator. What iPhone do you have? You can check in settings>>general>> about.
If you have a 3G you cannot update beyond iOS 4.2.1. The 3G is over 4 years old an was discontinued over 2 1/2 years ago. You need the latest ios to run the latest versions of some apps. If you have a 3GS you can update.
If your phone is not responding, reset it by pressing and holding down both the home button ad lock/ sleep button simultaneously until the Apple logo appears.

Firstly, you refer to "WebDB administrator" and "WebDB 1.6". This is not WebDB. You're confusing this with an entirely different product released in the late 90's.
You don't say what your specific error is. But the file does not exist errors in your Apache error log look suspicious. It looks like you have not copied the images directory from the HTML DB 2.0 distribution.

You are probably being asked to use a Windows XP admin account.
You need to log into your XP Operating Sytem as an admin level user.
If you use Ctrl + Alt + Del twice from the logon screen you will be offered a choice of user account and password.
The 'Administrator' account itself is not normally seen when logging on.
XP probably sets up the Administrator account with a null default password so enter the name 'Administrator' and then put the cursor in the password fields and hit the return key.
It is always a good idea to actually enter and use a password, it is also a good idea to create a password reset floppy.
If you have any account that already has administrator priveliges that may be uses to change passwords and account names.
If all else fails a clean reinstall of the OS will probably get you in as an administrator.

Can not log on after successfull installation - SAP Netweaver Trial JAVA

I have successfully downloaded and installed the NW Java trial. (NW_JAVA_700SP14_SR3.rar)
I can see in SAP MMC that all the services was started. At http://vjm:50000 I can see the default page.
Unfortunately I can not log on to any page that need SAP authentication (eg. User management, NW administrator),
but can log to pages which needs just basic browser authentication (eg: Web Service Navigator, UDDI client, System Information).
The portal also does not let me log on (http://vjm:50000/irj ).
When I get the standard SAP NW log on screen, after entering Administrator with the correct master password, simply the log on screen appears again (the password field is cleared). I also tried some incorrect user name / password just to check the difference. In that case I got the correct error message.
I installed the software with WMware, Windows 2003 server, allocated enough disk space and 1.6Gbyte RAM. The installation finished without errors. Prior, I installed the MS loopback too (tried without it too). In SAP MMC everything is green, only have an open alert in J2E 00 -> Services -> Security -> Aggregated Data -> Invalid session count "262 > 200 last reported value above treshold".
I am using the standard internet explorer coming with Win2003 server.
Tried the users: Administrator, SDM, Guest, ADSUSER. I know that the password is correct, because I don't get any error if I use it, just getting the log on screen back ...
Could anyone pls help me how can I log on to the system? Or is there any security trace file or log which could help me solve this problem?

is your problem persisting?
CAVE: If you use a wrong user/pw combination > 3 times the account of the user may be locked!
try j2ee_admin instead of administrator or try adm together with your Masterpassword
Do you have to specify the users pw inside the installation procedure? In "normal" installations this has to be done.
If not the pw´s in the documentation of the previous answer`may fix your problem.
The sap mmc is irrelevant for user authentication.
Green means your system is running, nothing else.

Tomcat's servlets/JSPs execute fine, but Tomcat denies access to the Tomcat Manager, Tomcat Administration to log in for web application with database connection.

Can't log in to a OD client

I've been having trouble setting up a replica so I figured I'd trying just connecting to the OD server as a client. I set up things in "Open Directory Access" and then

(said no such user before this)
But I still can't log into this system (or su to myself). If I try I get this in secure.log

No reason to be angry as it's in his book on page 112. You possibly did not understand its significance until you'd done it yourself?
In an AD-OD integrated environment (I prefer this to 'Magic Triangle' as there is no triangle as such) there are no users in OD. They're all in AD. You nest AD Users or Groups (best to use groups) into an OD Group and apply managed preferences that way. You could bypass group nesting if you wish and simply create OD Computer Groups instead. Manage the workstations directly. All users admin or not, local or otherwise would have have those preferences applied.

In my experience they are.

You can do the first part of the question using the provided Server Tools, PM or WGM. To make users local admins you use a terminal command. You don't want to be doing this for student accounts. To make AD groups administrators access Directory Utility's Advanced Options section in the AD plug-in. Clicking on the Administrative tab should give you the option you may be looking for? Hi all
Have seen a couple threads regarding this but unfortunately nothing that solves my problem thus far!
Right now, our developers are using the Domain Admin account to promote their website code using MSI files. I'd like to change this as I feel the Domain Admin account should be on lock down and only used when absolutely necessary, pretty common. The
same goes for my account too, I would like to absolve as much use of the Domain Admin as I can.
Problem is, when they run installers from their own accounts, they receive this error: You do not have sufficient privileges
to complete this installation for all users of the machine. Log on as administrator and then retry this installation
The accounts they are using are part of the Built In Administrators group and the Domain Admins group... I'm not sure what other permission you'd need in a domain? We've gone as far as explicitly giving them local admin access on this server and still
nothing changes.
Is there a Group Policy or something that I can change to provide install rights and possibly remove these accounts as Domain Admin and more along the line of Power User?

My MacBook Pro computer’s hard drive is not booting.
I booted with the base operating system and ran Disk utilities and I got the following messages:
    Invalid catalog PEOF
    The volume could not be verified completely.
    This disk needs to be repaired.
    Disk utility can’t repair this disk. Backup as many files as possible, reformat the disk,
    and restore your backed-up files.
The problem is that I have a couple of USERS set up on this computer, and it won’t let me backup the files of the second user. The folders are locked and I can’t access them, even though I am logged in as the administrator.
I made a boot disk on my other computer ( a MacPro Early 2008 ) desktop computer with the DiskWarrior 4.4 updater,
but it won’t boot on my MacBook Pro.
How can I backup these user files so that I can copy them back once I fix the drive?
or better yet, How can I repair the Invalid catalog PEOF on this drive?

Try using Disk Utility/Restore to copy the backup to a new location. Please note that this will reformat the destination partition which will erase all data.
Do a backup. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors. Reformat the drive using Disk Utility/Erase Mac OS Extended (Journaled), then click the Option button and select GUID. Then re-install the OS.

When you reboot, use Setup Assistant to restore your data.
