And me. And I tried to reset my password by getting the "password token" emailed to me. Once received I clicked on the link to reset my password and it told me that my "password token wasn't recognized" and to enter it manually. I did that, going as far as to cut and paste the token, and it wasn't "recognized" again.
And when I was able to sign in, I couldn't get any new contacts, even though I knew they were presently signed in.

Can't login to local NON-admin accounts-Directory Access set to server

I have a strange problem on a set of laptops that I cannot resolve and am hoping someone can help me.
Here is the issue:
I have a set of building laptops (PowerPC, OSX.4.11) that seemingly will not "search locally" in the authentication process. The logins seem to work fine for NETWORK logins to our Open Directory Master xserve, but these machines will not login to any LOCAL non-admin accounts. The local root and local admin account logins do, however, work fine. ?? The remainder of the building computers (Intel iMacs OSX.4.11) appear to have the exact same settings and login fine both locally and via the network home directories.
I have tried the following:
Deleted DirectoryService preferences folder (MacintoshHD-->Library-->Preferences->DirectoryService)
Deleted the mcx cache in Directory Access
Tried adding a new non-admin user to test (still will not login)
Removed and re-created LDAP configuration (all set to custom)
Tried setting the LDAP to the automatic settings ("Add DHCP-supplied LDAP servers to automatic search policies")
Disabled all network connectivity (turned off Airport and disconnected the ethernet cable), still cannot login to local accounts
Tried to bind in LDAP configuration (when I did bind the machine, it would no longer authenticate to the network authentication server, so I did an "unbind" and restarted and it went back to performing the network logins, but still will not login to local non-admin accounts).
Reset passwords in System Prefs and also re-typed them in NetInfo Manager
Deleted login keychains
Deleted mcx.plist
Reinstalled the OS from disk and local logins worked TEMPORARILY--UNTIL I set the LDAP directory access to authenticate to our server (which I also need for the network logins to work),then, the issue started again.
*Same results with both ethernet and wireless connectivity enabled.
*Note: I also manage these local accounts via WGM (installed on the local machine) and even tried disabling that and still no luck.
Please help...I have spent hours and hours trying to find a solution and nothing seems to work! What am I missing??

Can you assign a max amount to Journals?

Does anyone know if you can set a Max Amount to Journal entries?
If so, can you take it one step further and limit the amount each user can journal?

No you cannot do that in the journal module or on posting.
You can only use validation rules (or logic by crossposting a value to some acocunt if a journal goes over a certain value) to for instance check and fail validation rules if journals (based on datasource for instance) are over a certain value.

Do you have iCloud turned on. This is something that can show up under those circumstances. Try cycling iCloud off/on and it should fix it.

Can't Login to Newly Created User Accounts

I have 4 user accounts on my G4 quicksilver running 10.4.11. Recently I tried to create a new account and found that once created (with a password) I can't log in to it - the login window shakes when I enter the password as if it was incorrect. The same holds true even if I don't set a password to a new accoun - it simply will not log in. I've tried repairing disk permissions and the same in Safe mode. I ran my brand new TechTool Pro 5, but that doesn't find any problems. Also repaired the keychain for each of the 4 useable accounts. But whatever I do, I can't create a new account and get it to log in.
Now completely stumped, so any ideas welcome.

The login passwords are in the netinfo database. I am not sure what is going on. You can rebuild the netinfo database but with multiple IDs it gets difficult. You have to recreate the user IDs and the same order as you had them before then you have to adjust where the data is.
another approach... You could try changing the password from the command line.

Macintosh-HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal
# To find out the users on the system type, use the list command. The l is a lower case L:
ls /Users

Can i upgrade icloud storage for secondary account?

My secondary account is used mostly for email. I deleted a ton of them but somehow am still voer the 5GB limit.
I'm willing to pay the $100 upgrade to get rid of the hassle, but is theere a way to upgrade icloud storage for your secondary account?

You would probably have to temporarily make the secondary account the primary account to upgrade it. To do this, go to System Preferences>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...delete the secondary account, then go to System Preferences>iCloud, sign out of your primary account and choose Delete at all of the prompts (your data will still be in iCloud), then sign back in with your secondary account ID and upgrade the storage.
After upgrading the secondary account storage, reverse the procedure to assign the primary and secondary accounts back the way they were.

Can't login in to local admin account

Here at work, we have an Xserve that will not let us log in to it. We've tried the admin account, root, booting from a CD to reset password, using Terminal to rest password. All attempts have failed.
If any of you know of an alternative way to log into the server, please pass along a suggestion. Many thanks!
It is an Xserve running 10.6.6 accessed via KVM or ARD. Yes, it is bound to AD. This a stumper! If you need any more info, let me know.

What talk might that be? I only run my single-user, home machine from an admin account.
It appears that I successflully create this account but when I switch to it, I can't log in. I get the shaking log in screen.
IIRC, that indicates that you unsuccessfully created that non-admin user account. If it were me, I'd delete it and carry on as you have the past five years.

Did you change the assigned email address of your account before you tried to change it on the iPad? If yes then you would have to change the ID back to the old email address, then sign out, then change it back to the new address and then sign in again.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
You can check if there are entries in the password manager with an empty user name.
Make sure that you haven't saved multiple (uppercase, lowercase) versions of that name and password.
Remove saved Password(s):
* Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"
If you click "Never" then you create an exception that needs to be removed.

Can't login in to OS X 10.6.7 without domain admin account

Have just bought a mac mini to test in a Windows server environment.
I successfully bound to the Acitve Directory server and was able to login as my default user account;
I moved on and did a software update which moved me from 10.6.4 to 10.6.7 and since this I have not been able to logon using that or any normal user accounts.
I can successfully login as the administrator (default account created during install) and surprisingly can login as any Domain Administrator account, something I don't want to be doing. I tested with other normal users with the same issue and can sucessfully install with any Domain Administrator account.
I have seen a few things that are similar but none of the fixes seem to work...
This doesn't bode well for Macs in the workplease :S

I would recommend preparing your system first and then update by following these instructions:
1. Backup first using Time Machine!
2. Disconnect all peripherals except the keyboard and mouse.
4. Download the Combo Update from Apple Downloads.
5. Boot computer in Safe Mode. Note: Safe Boot loads a stripped down system which may reduce any chance of incompatibility while the update is running. Keep all Applications closed.
6. Repair Permissions from Disk Utility while booted in Safe Mode.
7. Install the update from Safe Mode.
8. Restart as you normally would if prompted.

Domain users and local users can't login to reporting service web environment

We installed reporting services at one of our customers but aren't able to use domain users to login. We've tried to login with a domain user, a local user but both aren't working. We set the proper permissions for the users on the reports folders.
We can only login with the buildin/administrator account on the local url: http://servername/reports
How can we allow login with domain users on other report manager url's?

Can't login after upgrade to version 7

After the forced upgrade to version 7 I can't login any longer (by microsoft account) to Skype. It shows the following error (see attachment).
Can someone please help me? For first time in years, I can't login to Skype and I really can't do without.

Try this:
Reset all Internet Explorer settings:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737
Open Internet Explorer. Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN settings. Make sure that the only option selected is “Automatically detect settings”.
Clear all Temporary Internet Files.
Open Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options -> General. In the section “Browsing history” press the “Settings” button and in the next window the “View files” button. Delete all files from the Temporary Internet Files folder.
