Can't Login (too many logins in a short period)

Hi all, when I launch Ichat, it attempts to connect to the network many times in rapid succession and then I get a message saying that I've tried to login too many times and to wait a while and try to login later.
Has anyone experienced this and is there a fix for it? I haven't been able to log in for 2 days now...
thanks!

Thanks Tony, I had actually searched thru the forums and found that suggestion someplace else. It did not work for me though.
This morning when I tried to launch Ichat, it only logged in twice rapidly and then allowed me onto the system.
I'm sure the problem isn't "fixed" though since I didn't do anything on my end. It just "happened" to work this morning.

  • Intra-doc links (can you have too many??)

I have an ebook that will be apprx 500 pages.  If I create intra-document links from the Table of Contents to each chapter,  then back links from each page in every chapter to the TOC  will this slow the perfomance of the PDF or does the number of intra-document links have no impact on performace.
For example, if I had 12 chapters,  each chapter listed in the TOC would link to the first page of each chapter.
All 500 pages would have a link on the bottom of each page that the user could click and be taken back to the TOC.
    Thanks for your help.

I have some tables with over 100 million rows that still perform well, and I'm sure much larger tables are possible.  The exact number of rows would vary significantly depending on a number of factors including:
    Power of the underlying hardware
Use of the table – frequency of queries and updates
Number of columns and data types of the columns
    Number of indexes
Ultimately the answer probably comes down to performance – if queries, updates, inserts, index rebuilds, backups, etc. all perform well, then you do not yet have too many rows.
The best way to rearrange the data would be horizontal partitioning.  It distributes the rows into multiple files; which provides a number of advantages including the potential to perform well with larger number of rows.

How many rows would you consider to be too many for a single table and how would you re-arrange the data if

  • Can't reach websites on same server for short period

    Hi!
I've got something strange. If i look at websites that are on the same server i can't seem to reach them anymore after a while. And this takes a short period and then i can reach them again.
It's the same with Safari or Firefox, and when i try i trough windows (paralells) it does work! So it seems to be a Macosx problem i'm heaving.
    Anyone have an idea?
    Thanks!

I'd try alternate DNS addresses, such as those at OpenDNS, to see if that solves the problem. Even though Windows in Parallels can see the sites, the problem might be DNS. It seems that sometimes DNS issues are caused by communication problems somewhere between the system software and the DNS servers.
The fact that all the sites you can't access are on the same server makes DNS sound like a likely culprit.

  • CLD Tips - you can't have too many

Here's some specific practice items you might work on in preparation for the CLD.
Practice coding a timer that can be Paused, Restarted, Stopped, and Reset to Zero. Practice coding this timer from scratch. There are several examples on the forums of these timers.
Practice using the Timer express VI (don't reinvent the wheel if this timer will work for you. NI does not deduct points for using this VI, and it is in fact a very useful tool)
Practice your ability to properly apply a reset to the timer(s) in a state machine.
Practice accumulating a counter which can be reset by a user or automatically if a test is restarted. Remember, you will typically count how many times an event successfully takes place.
Practice subtracting elements from one thing while adding to another, and keep track of it. For example, subtract rocks from a rock pile while adding rocks to a dump truck. The rock pile has X rocks but the dump truck can hold only Y rocks. Say it takes 3.5 trips of the dump truck to carry away all the rocks. Can you keep track of that type of operation?
Practice creating and reading to/from an INI file, TXT file, Binary file, and CSV file.
Practice code that uses the File Dialog box, and handle all user input, including Cancel (don't let it throw an error, handle it).
Practice coding a proper sequencer using a State Machine. Your sequencer should be able to carry out a list of commands in a queue or array, and...
...be able to skip certain steps if requested by the user
...be able to be paused and then continued, while not loosing data such as time acrued on the current step.
...be able to be stopped and aborted, with exceptions handled, and your program goes to a proper state afterwards
...be able to be used again without stale data like timer values or skipped steps from past runs mucking up the new run
and the most important thing in my opinion, which has been said a lot but I'll say it again ....
Practice the sample exams and time yourself
    Richard

In terms of time efficiency, a few thoughts. I haven't passed the CLD yet (1 week away for me), but this helped me improve my speed on the practice exams:
Learn to use Quick Drop, plus the Insert feature with Quick Drop. This drastically increased my coding speed. Make a few 3 or 4 letter shortcuts for commonly used diagram items and get used to them. You're given time to prep the LabVIEW environment before the exam, so add your favorite shortcuts. For the test, I would definitely include for/while/case structures, build array, replace array subset, queue functions. If you use variants then include Variant To Data and To Variant.
If you aren't already, get used to Auto-Tool. Using Auto-Tool saves you a second or so every time you want to modify anything on the block diagram or front panel. For EVERY action. A second isn't much on its own until you add it up for almost any click while coding.
When you're doing your planning after reading the spec (or as you read the spec), drop the notes down as comment boxes on the block diagram. This takes care of your planning while also starting your documentation.
Get used to doing a quick "Ctrl+I" to pull up a sub-VI's info. When you spawn a new sub-VI, do a Ctrl+I and go to Documentation. Fill out a quick little note here. Now whenever you do a "Ctrl+I" it'll go directly to Documentation and you can quickly type in a few notes.
Make sure you can quickly throw together your state machine template. I like to start with the producer/consumer template built into LabVIEW, then do my modifications from there. Whatever you're comfortable with, get used to tossing it together fast.
    Good luck everyone!

  • Can't save too many pdfs at once, hitting memory limitation?

    Hi,
I work for a publishing company and we use an Acrobat Pro plugin that lets you process hundreds of scanned pages at once in order to create a finished pdf ready to be printed to offset presses.
My problem is that if we scan at 600dpi or in color then we have to work in smaller sections because it seems that Acrobat hits a memory ceiling.
My workstation runs XP Pro and we have 4GB's of RAM and hundreds of GB's of available disk space. I've upped the VM and that doesn't help.
I was told by the plugin developer that the problem is that Acrobat isn't 64bit and can't take advantage of additional available memory.
So does anyone know if there's a possible workaround for this or if Acrobat 10 will be 64bit and resolve this issue?
    Thanks,
    Mitch

I have been having this problem the moment that I upgraded to Itunes 11.3   it was working previously fine on 11.2.  I am running this on my Toshiba satellite running windows 8.1.  Is this inherit to the 32bit limit that was mentioned or is this a huge bug that should have never made it into the final build?  it seems to me that every-time there is a new update things go haywire.  maybe this is a bad rush job due to the new phones coming out this fall but I would like to see a fix or i will downgrade back to the previous version.   Right now I am editing out the podcast streams that have become outdated due to mevio shutting down so I hope that might stop some of the freezing when I delete.

  • Says I tried to log onto AIM too many times.

I just upgraded my wife's G4 iBook to Leopard and am trying to get the iChat AV to work. I am using a USB cam with iChatUSB and Macam and the camera is working fine. I can get the camera to work over Bonjour to my G5 iMac (also just upgraded to leopard and also using a USB camera with the same set-up). When she tries to do a video or text chat over her AIM account we get an error message saying that she has tried to log on too many times in a short period and to try back later.
Just to see if her account was locked I wen to the AIM web site and can log in with her ID and password with no problems.
I have waited over an hour and we are still getting the message. Any suggestions on how to unlock this?
    Thanks,
    David

I may have found a fix:
When I went to my ichat pref. I found one difference between the account i was using and the other account I tried. In the sever settings section it lists this for the server slogin.oscar.aol.com the account i was trying to log onto didnt have the first "s" and the SSl box wasn't checked. I tried adding the "s" and checking the box and it fixed things.

  • Too many credit reports?

Over the last week or so, I've been repeatedly pulling my EQ report (pay for unlimited) to see when my CC payments / CLI post so I could app for a new card. I actually pulled my EX and TU by initiating a dispute to fix my last name & birthdate and was able to check those too. Admittedly, I did this a couple times over a few days to see when my corrections applied & when my CC payments / CLI posted. Now, when I tried to pull my EQ to see the effect of my CC app, they are saying "you already ordered that today" but I've never had this problem before always able to pull mutliple times a day. I tried to get my free credit report from TU and EX (annualcreditreport.com) and they are saying I can't view my report online and I have to mail in. Do you think I've pulled too many credit reports? I have credit monitoring with EQ and they haven't sent me any warnings of fraud so I don't think my CR have triggered a fraud flag. Is there a limit to how many CR can be pulled in a given time period? Do they freeze your reports? If so, how long does that last?

  • Select from (too many) tables

    Hi all,
I'm a proud Oracle Apex developer. We have developed an Interactive Report that is generated from many joined tables in a remote system. I've read that to improve performances we can do the following:
    1) Create a temporary table on our system that stores the app_user id and the colmun as a result of the query
    2) Create a procedure that does:
    declare
    param1:= :PXX_item
    param2:= :PXY_item.
    param3:= :V('APP_USER')
    insert into <our_table>
    (select param3, <query from remore system>)
    commit;
    3) Rediresct to a query page where IR reads from this temp table
On "Exit" button there's a procedure that purge table data of that user (delete from temp where user=V('app_user'), so the temp table is only filled with necessary data.
Do you see any inconvenience? Application will be used from about 500 users, about 50 concurrent users at a time.
    Thank you!

    1) We don't have a control on source syste, we can only perform query on itI was referring to a materialized view on the system where Apex is installed, not on the source database.
    2) There are many tables involvedI don't understand why this is a problem. Too much data I can see, but too many tables... not so much.
    3) Data has to be in real time, with no delayThis would a problem for MV or collections. The collections would store the data as of the initial query. Any IRs using the collection after the fact would be using stale data. If you absolutely have to have the data as of right now every time, then the full query must run on the remote system every time. Tuning that query is the only option to make it faster.
    4) There are many transactions on the source tables (they are the core of the source system) and so MV could not be refreshed so fastProbably could be with fast refresh enabled, but not necessarily practical to do so. As I indicated in 3, you have painted yourself into a corner here. You have indicated a need for a real-time query and that eliminates a number of possibilities for query-once use-many performance solutions.

  • Too many ipods

on christmas connected my fully working 4th gen 20gig click wheel to new (not apple) clock radio.... seemed to work fine with new device.... all functions... 12 hours later ipod still in charge mode.....(default for clock radio) but ipod should have fully charged and stayed in full charge state......
tried to operate it and it would not..... removed ipod and screen went blank and ipod would not come on and would not respond to wall charger... tried for a week to get it to wake up....
figured it was dead so went out and bought new nano.......
tried 20gig one last time last night and it came on and reset after i just pushed center select button once.......20gig then worked fine... put it back into clock radion and it froze up blank again..... held menu button and select button down for full 30 secs and pop it came back on... reset and is now working fine on its own again..... have battery hack on and it is showing full battery at 500 plus so battery is good... but something in clock radio as it keeps ipod in default charge mode... (or keeps power to docking socket for charging) seems to lock up ipod..... 2 strikes out i won't try again...... but now i have two ipods and p'oed i spent the money for the nano......
i guess we have to avoid after market ipod products for at least older ipods.
don't want to try nano since click wheel is failing with clock radio repeatedly....will call clock radio manufac but presume they will tell me it should work and i must have a personal problem
    beware

Geeze, how many is too many....
There's an Apple article on this in the knowledgebase.
I'll try to dig it up and post a link here.
To summarize it, it basically said something to the effect of
"You can never have too many iPods. Keep buying Apple iPods. Buy as many as you can afford."
    Something like that

  • How many desktops is too many desktops

    OK, I admit, I'm OC.
But the convenience of having multiple desktops has really improved my ability to get things done...
Can you have too many "full windows" and desktops open at one time?

The problem could come if you have too many applications open at one time to the extent it slows down your machine. Other than that, if it is working for you press on.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

There is no generic password, that would create a HUGE security hole. If you have held the reset pinhole down for 15 seconds or so with the unit powered on, then released it, the password should be set to what is on the router label. admin will be the user and when you type the password  you should see what appears to be other characters when you type..
One person with this issue had to type the password into notepad and copy paste it to get in.
You can change the  default setting of 5 bad logins but I DO NOT  recommend this  credit to armond_in_nj
"You can reset the number of allowed unsuccessful logins. Log on to the device, then click on "Advanced." In the far left column, choose "Users." In "Login Configuration" set the desired number of unsuccessful logins.
Also be sure to either activate, accept, or save all desired changes prior to changing screens or logging off."
Personally I have also added and extra user in case I have an issue with admin

How long until do I have to wait till my account will be able to be accessed?
I reset my password…blah blah blah..but I continue to get this when trying to login.

Ah, okay. I'm stupid. Apparently, you've entered a wrong password too many times. You have to wait a while to log back in. I don't know exactly the time frame but you should try again tomorrow. In the meantime, you can go ahead and create a new thread at [/questions/new] if you need support with Firefox.

  • IChat Error: "attempted to login too many times" problem/solution

*I don't know if its okay to post a new topic/question then answer it, but i was having this issue and finally found a resolution so i wanted to share it with everyone.*
_*Your problem:*_ You Log into ichat then it suddenly begins to act crazy- logging in and out multiple times for no apparent reason... then its gives you the message, yes THE message "You have attempted to login too often in a short period of time. Wait a few minutes before trying to login again".
You silently think to yourself, "w.t.f". lol.
Okay, well different things worked for different people, it just depends on the time, the moment, and whether or not ichat wants to act right...
    SOLUTIONS:
    1. Change to SSL
Go to iChat Menu --> Preferences --> Accounts --> Server Settings --> then check "Use SSL"
    2. Use Port 443
    iChat--> Preferences--> Server Settings --> Use port "443"
    3. Delete the user from my ichat accounts, by pressing the minus sign. Then waiting a couple minutes just to make sure that I would not get the logged in too many times error and re added the account.
*4. THIS SHOULD MOST Definitely WORK:
1.) Quit iChat if it is already open, and then open Finder.
2.) Browse to your user folder (can be found by clicking on your main hard drive, then going to Users > Your Username.
3.) Open the Library folder and go to the Preferences directory.
4.) You’ll see a long list of files with a .plist extension. The one we’re looking for is com.apple.iChat.AIM.plist. When you find it, delete it by dragging the file to the trash.
5.) Launch iChat and this time you should be able to sign in to your AIM account successfully. iChat will automatically rebuild the preference file you deleted.
    _*More INFO:*_
Now some people may wonder "Why is this happening to me" I'll tell you why:
The cause of the issue most likely roots from using your Mac at multiple locations (such as home, school, or work), which could lead to the preference files somehow getting corrupted. It sounds serious, but really shouldn't take more than a minute or so to resolve. Just follow the above steps...
I wish I could take credit for all these, btu I just pulled them from different sites and forums, including forums.macrumers.com and macyourself.com
I hope this helps someone out there Good Luck.
Oh and feel free to add other ways to fix this weird issue.

  • CF6.1: Administrator Login Failure - too many redirects

We a running CF 6.1 with a Commonspot content management system with IIS 6.0 as the web server.  The CF Administrator login screen comes up and I am able to enter the password.  Depending upon the browser various error messages (see below) appear that seem to indicate redirect issues between index.cfm and enter.cfm.
There are two IIS web sites (commonspot and Administration) which both have CFIDE in them.  Renaming the "administrator" folder under either web site causes the CF admin page to be not found. I'm looking for any troubleshooting help.  I think there is an issue between index.cfm and enter.cfm in the login process.  The server is virtual so we can snap back the the original state if the new config fails.
