Can't open new tab by going to file/new tab (or CTRL+T or clicking on the new tab field). Only way is to right click on a link and choose open in new tab.

Safari 6.0 crash when right clicking a link and choosing open in new tab

Hi all, just a general question. I admit i did not search the forums yet. Hopefully this little annoyance can be resolved.
When using safari on say CNN.COM i'll right click on a link and choose Open in new tab. safari randomly disappears. no crash warnings, just gone. I can open it right up and be fine sometimes all day. This has happened to me about 5x since ML was released (i wiped my laptop the day it came out)
This has happened on a couple of different website at different times of the day. only safari was running. No other apple apps have this issue.
I have a MacBook Pro from earily '08 type 4,1
i have only apple software on this machine
i do have adobe flash installed v11.3 updated today.
i do have lastpass enabled
i do have ad-block disabled
While i'm waiting for help from you guys i'll disable all addon's and try to remove adobe to see if that is the issue. Is there any other steps i can try like delete .plist file or maybe even trying a new user profile. I am a IT professional and am not afraid to get my hands dirty trying to get this resovlved.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

I can't open a new tab unless I right click a link and hit "open in new tab."
I click ctrl+t, click the new tab button, right click the tab bar and hit "new tab", and even click "File" and hit "New Tab", but it still won't open a tab!
This has been going on for a week!
I know it may not seem like too much of a problem since I can still open a tab, but it's terribly inconvenient that I can only open one by clicking a link.

When I click on links in websites the links don't work unless I right click and choose open website in another tab/window. This is even a problem on the Firefox page.

When I try to open a link on any page/website Firefox does not open the link. It doesn't even "work" at opening the link, it just sits idling. I have to right click and choose "open link in new tab/window" in order for Firefox to open the link. It doesn't happen 100% of the time but happens especially if there is a button or picture that must be clicked. Simple text links seem to work more often then button or picture links. One example provided below. When you click on the "launch Jumpstart" button it will not open unless you right click & open new. This also happens from my Yahoo! Email account, on Facebook, Cructhfield.com and other websites with "button" related links.

I have the same problem but it appears that an add-on I'm using is causing the problem. Try opening Firefox in safe mode (which disables add-ons) Then try it. If that solves the problem, you need to disable all your add ons and enable them one by one to figure out which one(s) is causing the problem.

How do I get FF to focus on a new tab? I right-click and choose "Open in New Tab" and the Tab appears in the Tab bar but I cannot access or see the new page.

I open FF ver.10. My Home page is Google Search. I use a Bookmark and open, say, Hulu.com. I select a link by right-clicking and choose "Open in New Tab" The little tab in the tab bar opens but I am still viewing the Hulu.com main page and cannot view the new tab.
This happens even if I use middle-click to open a new tab. It happens with all links on any website I visit.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

It opens up a blank page. The only way to make the link work is to click on the navigation bar in the new tab and press enter to reload the link.

Most do, but why won't some, of my own music sync when others off the same album and in the same playlist do? The problem is with the page that opens at startup?
What does the new page look like? Can you paste the address into a reply?
Or if it doesn't have an address, maybe it's a page created by an add-on. Can you see any indication of the source of the page? Perhaps you could post a screen shot of what it looks like. To reduce content size, try the zoom feature: hold down the Ctrl key and tap the - key once or twice. If you want to reset the page to the standard size, you can hold down Ctrl and tap the 0 key once (zero).
But really we should get you back to the page you prefer, and hopefully with the additional details I requested we will be able to figure out what needs to get changed so you can do that.

Lost ability to right click multiple files and choose 'open with'

In XP I can select a bunch of mp3 files, for example, right click and choose 'open with...' whatever application I want.
In windows 7 I only get 'open with' in the context menu on single files. How do I enable 'open with' for a selection of files? Please tell me Windows 7 hasn't disabled this useful behaviour.

You should change the bold text with the path of your player. After you’ve changed the key, you can right click the chosen MP3 files and choose “open with player” to play the music.

I was updated to 3.6 and now I cannot create new tabs. Neither the plus sign or cntl + T will open a new tab. If I right click and choose "open in a new tab", however, the tab opens just fine.

I've tried restarting the system, but decided not to uninstall/reinstall firefox, just in case I lost all my bookmarks and favorites. The restart did not solve anything. Also, I have colorful tabs add on and it was updated today. I disabled it, but that did not help either.

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.

Right-clicking on links and selecting "Open Link in New Tab" opens a blank tab.

Seems like opening links in new tabs just doesn't work in any fashion. I right-clicked a link (several, actually) to open it in a new tab. It opened a blank tab. No sign of ever acknowledging the link, nothing in the URL bar. Just blank.
Wonder if this is related to my earlier question about opening links from Thunderbird being broken as well...

1. Install the Menu Editor add-on from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/menu-editor/ .
2. After the installation, go to Firefox> add-ons (or simply use Ctrl+Shift+A)
3. Go to the Menu Editor "Options"
4. In the "Main context menu," simply grab the "Open link in New Tab" and place it below the "Open Link in New Window"
5. and Voila! You may also change other menu options if you want to!
I tried jay_ff method first and found that indeed changing the Main Context Menu did cause the hotlink context menu to change as well.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the ''Safe mode'' start window.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")

When I click the plus sign to open a tab, and even when I go to "File" and then "New Tab" Nothing happens. The only way I can get a new tab to open is by right-clicking a link. I've tried closing and restarting the browser, and even restarting my computer. Nothing is helping. Firefox did do an update this morning, could it be a glitch from that?
