Can't Reload Software - Help, Please!

I've been having troubles with the trackpad lately, and was told the software might need updating. So, I connect it to my computer, go to update the software, and now I'm getting the "Error 507" screen. I tried going to the support website, and doing what that says, but it won't work. My phone will no longer connect with the computer, and I can't get it to "repair" so that it will connect. Any ideas, or am I royally **bleep**ed?

In some cases, a 507 is normal during the process -- it indicates that no OS is present on the device, and it is waiting for whatever the controlling app is to move to the next step (load the OS onto the device). Sometimes, that can be kick started by simply removing and reinserting the USB cable. But, if you've already moved past that, then you have do do some other things now. Here are some methods that may help:

Usually, these work best not via the support website, but rather with both the Desktop Sofware AND your BB OS package downloaded and installed to your PC:

    There should be a Library button on the top left. If not ap the middle of the screen to get it to appear.

    You can't change that address by design, but Apple allows you to create another two addresses and use instead they call those aliases and you can create and use those different for different people with the same account. Instructions here

    I am no expert, but open your mail, go to the top of your apple bar click the apple sign then force quit mail, restart and it may work.
    I had this issue before and it was resolved.

    You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.
    They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

    FWIW, iWork as such is no longer available; it is now separate applications: Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.
    Do you have the older (via install DVD) iWork 09 version installed? Then the new versions should show up in Updates (mac app store).

    Did you check the outgoing mail server setting? Make sure that your username and password are in there.
    Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

    If you can't get the password correct, you CANNOT restore from that backup.
    However, if you've been using your phone as recommended by Apple, there should be minimal data loss.
    Your iTunes library is on your computer, so you can synch all your apps, music, movies, ringtones, etc, on to your new phone.
    Similarly, contacts should be synched to Address Book, Outlook, or a cloud service for you to easily synch back to your new phone.
    Pictures taken from your old phone and not synched to your computer are lost, but you would have been synching those photos to your computer frequently as recommended.  Other photos that you synch TO your iPhone are still on your computer.
    You won't be able to get text messages back.

    so its in a forum, which I didn't stumble upon because it wasn't anywhere in the adobe troubleshooting steps for Windows 8 that automatically came up for me when I clicked that I couldn't see the test flash movie on their site. I guess if I spent another half a day googling I might have found it.
    BTW, unchecking Active X filtering in IE10, was NOT the fix. I had to go into the security tab, and change the custom active X setting I listed above. So this link you provided which mentions unchecking Active X filtering was not the fix that worked in my scenario.

    If restoring the iPhone as a new device (not using a backup) doesn't fix the problem, then you either have a problem caused by whatever software you used to jailbrake the iPhone, in which case we cannot help you with that problem here, or the iPhone has a hardware problem in which case you'll have to ship it back to a friend or relative in the US to get it serviced.

    It sounds like you've changed your user account password in OS X, but can't remember the corresponding password for the keychain on your computer. If you can't recall the password needed to unlock your keychain, see this article for the steps to reset your keychain:

  • Cannot send faxes w/ Apple USB modem, can you offer some help please?

    I am using the Apple USB modem connected to my brand new MacBook and so far could not send any faxes. The modem is working because I was able to receive 1 fax (which I sent to myself from my Nokia 9300i).
    The monitor tells me that: dialing... ok, connecting...ok, sending... and then it fails.
    On the other side (my Nokia 9300i) the fax is starting to come in but shortly thereafter it stops.
    I tried Apple Fax (embbedded in the OS) and also PageSender v.4 with the same results.
    Anyone of you can offer any suggestion/help as to why this is happening?

    I have always believed that the answer to this is yes, however, I have never had occasion to test it. In the past when we all used dialup it was either/or, because you couldn't fax with the same modem you were using to connect to an ISP at the same time. But since you are configuring internet through one network and faxing through another, it should work. Maybe someone actually doing it will wade in here.
    Of course, there are a lot of efax services out there now that let you send and receive faxes through the internet.
