Can't scan to email on my hp 7520

Hello,
I can print wirelessly but whenever I try to scan a doc to my email it reads unable to connect to web services, confirm internet access and try again.  Please help!  Everything seems fine except that

Hi Nick3404,
Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I gather that you are getting an unable to connect message for your web services which is preventing you from using the scan to email feature of your Photosmart 7520 printer.
Please set a manual IP address and manual DNS servers for your printer. I have included a link to another post I did with the steps (and screen shots) on how to do this.  Please don’t worry that the screen shots are for a Photosmart 7510 printer, but the steps are the same (and other than the name of the printer the screens look the same).

Can't 'Scan to Email' on USB connected printer to 2nd AE (in Bridge mode extending wireless network).
    Prints fine though.
Printer is set to static IP adress (192.168.0.50).
Upstream Router is: 192.168.0.1 (this is connected to first AE).
When the printer was previously attached (by ethernet cable) to 1st AE, everything was working fine and I could login to printer Admin page via Safari by tying IP Address.

Only the print function is supported when a multi-function device is connected to the USB port on an AirPort router.
Advanced features like scan, copy, maintenance, etc are not supported at the USB port.

  • Eprinters can't "scan to email" - whats up with that?

    Hi,
I just read this thread: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-printing-questions/scanning-to-e-mail/m-p/302534
And it seems that all of the new eprinters can not scan to email. If this is true, I find this mind boggling.
I am trying to understand the reasoning of HP product marketing/managment here. They wanted to build a printer  that is so independent that it doesn't need to be physically connected to any device - _except_ when someone wants to scan something? Does that make sense?
Technically speaking they probably have some email (smtp) client built onto the printer, so setting up an email gateway, and sending email shouldn't be that much work. The only thing I can think of (or hope for) is that "scan to email" didn't make the cut in the first release and will be added to future eprinters.
Maybe someone here can help me understand HP's thought process.
    tia,
    rouble

    Hi roubles19,
If my understanding on the feature that you mention is correct, scan to email is actually a feature that is currently available for the Officejet product range. The new ePrint lineup for Officejet do support scan to email but the implementation are just slightly different.
For HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus and HP Officejet Pro 8500A Premium, if the printer is network connected, there is a feature called HP Direct Digital Filing. User needs configure the email settings such as email address, smtp server setting and etc  sueccesfully and the user will be able to perform scan to email.
    Thank you.

Hello FreckleFace, welcome to the forums
I read your post and from my understanding, you are unable to scan to email. I would like to know some more information about the problem and we will troubleshoot from there.
    Please let me know:
What printer(s) are installed on the computer?
How is the printer connected (USB/ wireless/ wired/ Bluetooth)? Have you tried an alternate connection (if not, please try and include the results)?
What is the Operating System of the computer?
Have you tested hardware functionality (copy and test print, power)?
What Firewalls and Anti-virus software are installed? Have you tried disabling or uninstalling them?
Did any changes occur on the computer around the time when the issue started?
Have you tried power cycling the entire network, and disconnect and reconnecting any connections?
Have you tried scanning from the printers control panel and the printers software from the computer?
Are you seeing any error messages on the printer or PC?
Thank you, have a great Wednesday

  • Can ClamXav scan incoming email for viruses?

    Hi,
I'm new switching from windows to imac and I've insalled ClamXav antivirus, which from what I have heard others say on this forum, is a fine antivirus program for an iMac.
The program seems more manually oriented than windows' antivirus programs - meaning that I choose what and when to scan.
That's all fine but I am wondering if it automatically scans incoming email, or if I can set it up to automatically scan incoming email.
I appreciate any light anyone could shed on this program for me. Of course, if you all prefer that I contact ClamXav, I can do that and sorry for any inconvenience.
    Many Thanks, Frank B.

I use ClamXav, yes it does scan email.
However, may I suggest that you configure ClamXav in the Preferences/General preference pane to scan and alert you to found viruses and to not move infected files to a quarantine folder. Because of the structure of the Mail.app, ClamXav sees the mailbox as a file and will quarantine the entire mailbox if just one email is infected. It is a pain to get the mailbox back to the Mail.app.
HELP! ClamXav deleted all my email. What can I do?
I like the ClamXav app and recommend it for you with this one configuration suggestion.

  • Can't scan to email

All functions on my photosmart 7520 work, except the scan to email function. I have tried everything. Please help.

    Hi,
You will need to setup the Scan to Email.  You will need to install the sowftware for this to work.
Go to www.hp.com > Support > Download drivers for your Printer.
Once installed, go to the HP Printer Assistant, click on the "Scan to Email Wizard" to setup the feature.
Please click the “Kudos Thumbs up” on the left if this has helped you and “Accept as solution” if this has helped solved your problem.

  • Error Message- Changed email passwords and now can't scan to email

Changed google email accounts and now wont scan to email, error message.
How o I change or confirm passwords. It has also lost air print.

    Hi @sellingsf ,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that you need to update teh settings for your scan to email feature and have an Airprint issue.
    I would like to help.
First you will need to gather your printers IP address.
Touch the wireless icon on the front panel of your 8600.
If it says IP no link, your printer has fallen off the network. This would be why Airprint is not working.
Once you have the printers IP address, open safari or chrome.
In the address bar type the printers IP address and press return.
This should take you to the printers Embedded Web Server (EWS).
Once at the EWS you should see the scan to email setup.
Choose the option to edit the email and type in your new password.
    Save and test.
With the inability to Airprint, go into system preferences.
Then go into printers and scanners.
Select the 8600 plus and click the minus icon to remove it.
once the printer is gone, click the plus sign to add the printer again.
If you encounter any 'hiccups' or require further assistance, please let me know.

    Hello TilakRV,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand you are looking to use Scan to Email with the Deskjet Ink Advantage 3545. I ran into the same problem when I tried to activate this too. It seems that this is not an active feature of the printer. The icon is available on the printer to allow it to be ready for a potential future update.

I work IT for a large company, with thousands of hp printers.  We  have very strict policies for printers.  Our network is configured to accept internal emails on port 25 to our SMTP address using no encryption or usernames, only IP.
Last week I installed a new printer configured it and set the stmp to the correct ip on port 25 and only edited the sender for No_reply@. And i trippled checked the IP

I can ping the SMTP server from the cable.
The printer can recieve network job.
other printers are working with these setting.
    it can't scan to email.
Other printers (different and simular models with the same settings) can scan to email.
Any ideas why this isnt working?

  • Send scan by email 7520

I never received the pin afetre entering my email address 9then I am unable to receive my scan by email)

    Hello @marinoiaconelli,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that you haven't received the pin to activate the scan to email feature on your Photosmart 7520.
    I would like to help.
Sometimes it can take upto 24 hours for the pin to arrive.
If you still have not received the pin the there are a couple of options.
    1. Use the forgot pin option that is available when trying to use scan to email.
    2. Reset the printers Web Services and start from the beginning again.
This option will cause the printer to loose its ePrint address. If you have customised the ePrint address, it will be lost.
To remove the printers Web Services, touch the printers ePrint icon.
Then select the settings option, and choose remove web services.
You will be brought back to the printers main menu.
Touch the ePrint icon again and follow the prompts to enable the feature once more.
Once the Web Services have been enabled you can setup scan to email again.
If you have any additional questions please let me know.

  • HP7520 - Scan to email problel

Hi, I have read many emails about scanning to email issues. I have the same issue as others. The scan to email has worked perfectly fine for months. Now it keeps coming up with the message "unable to connect to wireless services"
I have tried all the suggestions about going the the HP website and entering the 8888 and 8844 codes under my IP address etc etc.
Can someone please send me the email which seems to have sorted out a similar issue for others?
    Many thanks

    Hello @AllyMcBeal ,
    Welcome to the HP forum.
I understand that you are getting a server connection error when trying to scan to email .
I would like to help you with this.
I realise you have already set a manual DNS.
There are two things that I would like to make sure you have done before you reset the printer.
    1. Turn off the printer.
Then unplug the power from your router or a minute.
    Wait one minute.
Plug the power back into the router.
    Turn the printer back on.
When the blue wireless light on the printer stops blinking, try the scan to email.
    2. Remove web services.
Touch the ePrint icon in the upper left hand corner of the display.
go into settings, select remove web services.
If you have customised teh printers ePrint address, you will lose the address.
Unfortunately there is no way to recover the email. It will be gone for good.
After removing the web services, you will be sent back to the main screen.
Touch the ePrint icon again and enable the web services.
once the information sheet prints out, go to scan to email.
You will have to set it up again like you did the first time.
Also if you are familiar with your router, double check the following settings.
-Multicasting needs to be turned on
    - Bonjour enabled ******** for Airprint
-Mac filtering needs to be turned off
-also make sure your router has current firmware update if
    needed
Ports to open are : *** Eprint and Apps
    UDP (incoming)Ports
    80
    443
    TCP (outgoing)Ports
    5222
    5223
Finally, I have sent you the reset via private message. Please ensure the above items have been done/reviewed before resetting the printer.  Please read this post by Bob_Headrick, in regards to printer resets.

I clicked on a link in an email that may be spam/phishing.  How can I scan my mac book pro for viruses?

You can just download the free ClamXav and scan your entire drive - but as there are no known viruses for OS X (although there is malware - see Thomas Reed's excellent Mac Malware Guide) it's very unlikely that you have a virus.
The best source against malware is OS X itself and common sense. Don't click on links in suspicious emails and be careful of anything that wants to install something on your computer that is not from a reputable source.
