Can't Search Company Contacts on Exchange

When I first set up my exchange account, I was able to search the company contacts without isssue (go to contacts>groups>search). However, lately, this has not been working. This was a useful feature and I would like to get it working again.
I have done both hard and soft resets. However, still not working. Each search I do ends in the same result - a message indicating that the search failed.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have been having the exact same issues with my mail. Today I went into Mail > Preferences > Accounts
Click on "Edit Server list" under the Outgoing Mail Server
Click Advanced
Change the Autentication type (mine was set as NTLM)
By switching to "password" and using: exchange server/user name and my exchange password I got the outbound mail to work.
Hope this helps

  • In Outlook 2010/MS Exchange, can't search shared contacts

Have had MS Outlook 2010 for quite some time, and I really like it. However, since I got a new computer, I'm not able to search the contacts of my 2 bosses. Since my one boss has over 1700 contacts, I really need the ability to search his contacts back!
What happens is even if I am in Jon's contacts, it jumps to my contacts to do the search
From Outlook 2010 - File - Open - Other User's Folder - I do press enter when i've typed in the person/company i'm looking for.
Help desk guys have told me it is a compatability issue with Outlook 2010 - which sounds stupid to me since I had no problem till i got a new computer

    Hi,
I have done a test on my lab machine and the search result was pretty good.
Please make sure the Outlook version is up to date. Try switching the Outlook to Online Mode and check if the issue persists.
You can also try rebuilding the Outlook Profiles and run Outlook in Safe Mode by:
    1. On the Start menu, click Run.
    2. Input "Outlook.exe /safe" (without the quotation marks) and click OK.
Note: There is a space between Outlook and the forward slash (/).
    3. Please check if the issue persist.
    Thanks,
    Simon

  • I am leaving a company that uses Microsoft Exchange.  Can I keep my contacts ?

The company syncs MS Exchange to my iphone 4 and Outlook on my PC. I'm fine witht losing the mail and calendar data when the account is turned, but how do I keep the contacts I've built up over two years?

Your safest bet is to export your contacts to a file that can be later imported if needed.  i.e. Export your contacts from Outlook.  You can export to a format Apple is familiar with and use it to import to iCloud.  Or use another compatible file format for any other contact application you may use.

  • Can't search Active Directory contacts even though domain binding succeeded

My machine is bound to an Exchange 2003 AD server correctly but I can't search contacts from address book or Mail. In neither case do I see anything to indicate that I even should be able to search. What am I missing? Two colleagues are running 10.5 and they both see a "Directory" entry in their address book.
    Thanks,

  • IOS 7 Update Can't Map by Contact's Company Name???

Just updated my Apple Gear hoping I wouldn't regret it...
Being in outside sales, it was extremly helpful to be able to plan meetings based on the distance between two companies loaded in as contacts. So what I would do is open maps, click directions, and start typing the company itself. The contact info would load as if you were typing in someone name. The new software doesn't recognize the company as a searchable function if there is a name associated with it.
I know you can click the address while you load it up in contacts and get directions "to or from here", but when you're trying to map the distance between Company A and Company B you can't.
In business, searching by name is not as efficient since there are 50 Mikes in my phone and more often than not an employee is going to change before the company name will.
I see google maps can load by company name, but that scares me because it's not using my preloaded contact (confirmed) information. Which is risky to plan around unconfirmed addresses as well.
Has anyone found a way to have the maps app fix this? Am I missing something? I understand you're never going to please everyone but going backwards a step in usefulness? I'm sure there are other apps and stuff that can do this, but I was comfortable with the apple maps version and it's something that was previously achievable.
    Thank you!

    How about trying this...
Delete that contact from your Contacts app completely (maybe write down or copy the pertinent information to a Remember note first).
Reboot your device (powered on, remove the battery, reinsert battery)
Open your Contacts app and check for that contact, is it still there or completely deleted?
Check ALL your contacts lists (turn on your SMS contacts and all others, make sure all instances are deleted.
If so, add it back, skipping the Company field... does it self-populate again?

  • How can I prevent personal contacts from syncing with Exchange corporate email?

I have my phone synching with my work Exchange server over ActiveSync, and have 2 personal email accounts (POP and IMAP).  The 2 personal accounts are also configured in Outlook 2010 on my home computer.  Itunes is also installed on this computer.
I want my contacts from my 2 personal accounts to sync to my phone (which is working), but not have them sync to my work account (this part is not working the way I want).  I now have all my personal contacts uploaded to my work account.  How can I remove the contacts from my work account without removing them from my phone?

Unless you are in the same household, the agreement for Mountain Lion does not allow the setup you have now.
You need to spend another US$30 and buy an additional copy and get that other MacBook on its own unique Apple_ID.

I found out that I have some lost contacts on my iphone 5s, they dont appear when I search but if the contact calls me I see their name. How can I get those contacts to be on the list?

You could check settings > mail contacts and calandars and see if there are any accounts (like icloud gmail yahoo) listed and if they have contacts on. Its possible if contacts were synced to one of these accounts that turning them back on will recover the missing contacts.

  • Can't call last contact when doing a search in iPhone 4S

I am not sure when this bug was introduced but I am noticing it after 8.0.2 upgrade.
When searching my contacts if I get more results than a single screen can fit, the last one gets hidden behind the bottom bar. I can still see it by dragging up but there is no way I can call it. The moment I release the screen, the contact goes down again and no matter how quick I am there is no way I can click it.

Here is a screen shot for a better understaning of my issuse.  I did a seach for music containing "pop"  The search modified the view of the actual filename and took out the artistname.  The filename hasen't actually changed, just how I view it.  It's missing the artist name.  The info box to the left shows the actual file name...  Changing the advanced setting did nothing. This is happening on my Mavricks Imac.  If I do this on my macbook pro I get the full filename.... Might have to scrap mavricks and revert back to mt lion...

  • Searching by name for company contact

How can you find a contact by name when it has a company name ? Every contact with a company name does not display the first and last name

Maybe you should choose to have your address book program to display the contact with the person's name instead of the company that he/she works for. I use my Mac's address book and I know I have these choices on how to display my contacts. Maybe you have the same too?

  • Contacts do not come up when searching through Contacts App

I'm connected to an exchange server. Email, calendar, notes, all come through ok. Even though you can't sort notes by name which is a pain at least they are there. Work decided to give me an Apple iphone over my long trusted Blackberry which I miss horribly. Using the Iphone is more like a toy then anything and its messaging features seem to be all geared towards texting and imessage. Anyway when I load the CONTACTS app and start to search for a user it will not find that user. If I open up the mail app and start an email and start searching for a user, the user will come up fine. It is pulling that from the exchange server fine. I want to know why the CONTACT app isn't doing the same? It is not pulling from the Exchange server. I have deleted the account, created it again, made sure my contacts are to sync, everything I could think of. This prohibits me from looking at a contacts information, which you can't do from within the MAIL app. I also can't add a contact because I can't bring any up. Is this another "bug" that I'm beginning to find out between Iphone and Exchange possibly? Why would the MAIL app bring down the contact(s) I was searching for fine, but the CONTACT app won't? I tool a couple of hours and went through every setting possible and still at the same position I was when I started. I do not use icloud. Any suggestions on this? I have an Iphone 5S.

I have found the solution. There is another "group" called "Exchange Active Sync GAB" which means Global Address Book. You can't put a check mark on this group but you can select it once then prompts you for a search. If you input a search name that is in the Global Address Book it will take a about 10 seconds before it finds it and brings it up. We have over 30,000 addresses and groups in our Global, so it is quite large. I was under the assumption that when I checked ALL CONTACTS that group would be included, but it is not. If I ever want to go back to my own saved contacts I would need to go back into the groups area and select ALL CONTACTS. I wish I could do a search with them all together, but apparently the iphone can't do that right now. This is where I really miss by Blackberry. Blackberry did messaging really well and with the track pad it was a breeze to navigate and operate it. I guess I just miss that and have to get use to the iphone. Kind of weird all high school teenagers have the same exact phone we use in the corporate business world. I think Apple should keep making the iphone but start a new business line model for employees at work in a company. In my opinion there shouldn't be one phone model for ages 10-65. Anyway, just a thought.

  • Outlook 2010 search for contacts of connected account

    Hello.
My client has one issue: they can search contacts in their exchange account but the results don't return contacts from an account that she is authorized to (she can see emails from this other account). She doesn't remember what triggered it she just said
it stopped working. The other person has Mac. How do you enable or troubleshoot search shared contacts from connected accounts?
She is using Windows 8 and Outlook 2010 and they have internal exchange server 2007. I have seen this post: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/0403a096-49b1-4a87-a34f-44566c9cf9ab/outlook-2010-searching-a-shared-users-contacts?forum=outlook
where it points me to another site but it doesn't say what the problem could be if you can't search from shared contacts.

    Hi,
Is the user searching within the shared Contacts folder?
Switch to Outlook Online Mode and search, does the issue persist?

  • How do I setup Address Book to view shared contacts on Exchange Server 2010?

At work we have MS Exchange Server 2010.  I recently switched from Entourage to native OSX Lion apps Mail, iCal and Address Book.  Mail and iCal work fine so far with Exchange (IE. I can add delegates, see their calendars, etc.) but when using Address Book, I can only see my contacts.  In Entourage I was able to search other user's contacts and copy them to mine if I desired.  Is this not possible with Address Book?

Are you sure you did that right ... because I did a File/Backup Address Book, and the file named included the date. I then copied the file through our Airport network from the Powerbook to a new iMac. The opening Address Book on the iMac, I did a File/Revert to Address Book Backup, which allows you to choose the file. Now the iMac had the same Address Book file as the Powerbook. This looks to me to be the same thing you are trying to do.

  • Save Contacts from Exchange to iphone

    Hi There,
I wanted to know that if there is a way to save the contacts that get populated by exchange to the iphone. For example, I have setup my exchange account on my iphone, I sync the contacts to my phone, so whenever I have to add a new contact I create it in my outlook and it works perfectly..
My issue was, I recently left the company i was working for and as soon I left, the exchange was cut off and with that all my contacts disappeared as well. I wanted to know if there was a better that whatever contacts I create in exchange, I can copy it directly to my phone so in an event if I am no longer a user to that exchange server I still have access to my contacts.
    Thanks for your response

This is not new - not with my MobileMe account, which I use for syncing contact info over the air with my iPhone.
Contact info synced over the air is available on your iPhone without an internet connection, but obviously in internet connection is required in order to sync contact info with the online address book for the account.
If you leave the company along with your Exchange account no longer being active, syncing contact info over the air will no longer be possible. I don't know if the account no longer being active along would erase all contact info from your iPhone, but deleting the account from your iPhone or turning Contacts off for over the air syncing will remove all contact info from your iPhone.
You can sync contact info over the air with an Exchange account and/or with a MobileMe account, or you can sync contact info direct with a supported application on your computer via the iTunes sync process. You can do one or the other, not both at the same time.
Contact info on your iPhone is included with your iPhone's backup, which is created and maintained by iTunes, but so is email account setup info. If you leave the company with your Exchange account no longer being active, you can restore your iPhone with iTunes to restore contact info, but your Exchange account settings would be restored also. Since you would have over the air syncing enabled for your Exchange account on your iPhone, this would prevent you from syncing your iPhone's contact info direct with a supported application on your computer via the iTunes sync process.
Long story short, your Exchange contact info may remain on your iPhone, but your contact info may be eventually lost since your Exchange account would no longer be active. You would probably receiving constant error messages about your Exchange account not being able to connect, and you wouldn't be able to sync contact info direct with a supported application on your computer, and if you delete your Exchange account from your iPhone in order to do so, this will also delete all contact info from your iPhone.
You would probably need to export your Exchange account info from a computer used at work to access the account, followed by importing the contact info into a supported address book application on your computer at home, followed by syncing your iPhone with the supported address book on your computer via the iTunes sync process after deleting your Exchange account from your iPhone.
