Can't see tables after a JDBC connection
Hi,
I made a JDBC connection with Progress9.1d database. In the Connections Navigator, I expand the nodes for my database connection and see the following nodes: Synonyms, Tables, Views.
However, when I try to expand the "Tables" node, I can't see the tables in the Connections Navigator. A window whose title is "Retrieving Objects" appears for a moment, retrieves the objects as shown by a status bar and disappears immediately.
Can anyone help me?

For those of you having similar problems,
Here is the answer I received from Oracle Support:
"We use DatabaseMetaData.getTables() to retrive the information from the database, however, I found on a Progress discussion forum that there is a bug in the Progress implementation of getTables().
The problem is with their implementation of DatabaseMetaData.getTables(). You have to pass a null into the catalog parameter or it will not work. Under 9.1C if you pass in a blank string ("") you get a "Optional feature not implemented" exception, if you pass in a non-blank string you get "The qualifier 'catalog' was larger than SQL_MAX_QUALIFIER_LEN from SQLGetInfo (0)". My understanding is the issue still exists in 9.1D
Since we don't pass null here, the problem occurs. So, the problem isn't with JDeveloper, but with the Progress Driver."
Now, I am talking with Progress Support. I will post another message if anything changes.

In such cases, you will get <b>an error at adapter level</b> and the msg wont come into IE.

If you are above SP 14 in XI3.0, then you can raise alerts for adapter errors also.
No special config required for this.
To understand this, give it a try and you will get the concept.

I can not see the PC I'm connected to over VPN in the MY Network tab.

I have set up my incoming connection for my VPN
on a Windows 8.1 PC. I can then remotely log in with my Windows 7 laptop. The laptop establishes a connection and says that I have "ipv4 internet access."
The problem I'm having is that I can’t find the PC in my network. What am I missing? Is Windows 7 not compatible with Windows 8.1 over
a VPN? I have turned off my Norton's Firewall for a short period of time but this did not change anything. I have altered the IP range allocation for the incoming connection and this has helped to establish a stable connection.
Any ideas on why I can not see the PC I'm connected to, in the (MY

The main issue is the Windows 8.1 machine is not listed in the Windows 7 machine via VPN ,right ?
Please check the following settings in the network and sharing center:
1.Check these settings in the Advanced sharing settings
“Turn on network discovery” and “turn on file and print sharing”
2.Ping the destination machine both with the IP address and the UNC to have a check .

Can't see manual after downloading several times from Apple. Somewhere else says have to get Acrobat to read. Have Adobe. Acrobat on Apple site is over $400! All I want to do is read an iphone 4 manual.
Acrobat Reader is free. Or try this:
1. Select the file.
2. Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window.
3. In the Open With section select Preview from the dropdown menu.
4. Click on the Change All button.
This will assign Preview as the default application for opening PDF files. Now, if you downloaded the manual on your iPhone, then you need a PDF reader app. Try the free GoodReader app. Or you can download the manual in iBook format. -

What’s your Exchange server version? I have tested to send a meeting request to my colleague with a table, a PNG picture and a word attachment in my Outlook 2013 with Exchange 2010 environment. And it can be viewed well.
Please check whether the issue happens to all Outlook 2013 users or some specific ones. We can close Outlook and send a meeting request with pictures and attachments in OWA to have a test. If the OWA test returns everything is OK, the issue may be related
to Outlook client. Please run Outlook in safe mode and disable all related mail software to check whether the issue persists.

I have a powered hub plugged into my Time Capsule.
Into the powered hub I have a printer; printer works fine.
Into the powered hub I have an ExFAT formatted disk.
The ExFAT disk is seen in the AirPort Utility as an "AirPort Disk".
I cannot see the ExFAT disk in Finder or in Window's "My Computer".
When I plug the ExFAT drive directly into Mac or Windows computers the drive is seen in Finder and My Computer.
When the ExFAT drive is plugged directly into Mac or Windows both can read and write files.
Do you think that I need to format the USB ExFAT drive as FAT 32?
I have heard mention "need to map the drive". Do you think this would help?

Can not see records after was given select on table

I have a database 10gV2 and I 'grant select on table1 to user1'. When user1 logged on, he can not see any data from table1. He can desc table1 but when doing a select count(*) from user99.table1 , a zero record returned. Or select * from user99.table1, nothing is returned, no records. Why?possibly there is a vpd policy on the table which applies a where predicate allowing the user only to see rows relevent to his session.
or rows inserted are not committed therefore only visible in the session where transaction is active.

Can't see Tables from a local database
I've installed 10G client and the default ORCL database that comes with it. I've create a user and some tables under this user. From within TOAD I can see the tables fine.
In JDeveloper 10.1.2 I set up a DB Connection and connect to the database ok but under the Tables option, no tables are loaded.
I've got other DB Connections to non local databases that I can view fine.
The driver is thin oracle.JDBC.driver.OracleDriver (the same as the non local databases).
Any ideas? How does JDeveloper actually connect, presumably it uses something different to what TOAD uses?Toad uses SQL*Net while JDev uses a JDBC connection.
To ask the obvious, you don't have a filter on the table node do you?
Have you also tried connecting via SQL*Plus and:
select table_name from user_tables;
...to see if you can access the tables. -

I have a problem and I can't see neither the table data nor the table definition for my database inside Visual Studio Express 2013 for Web, Server Explorer. When I right click it just says refresh, copy or properies.

According to your description, I make a test on my computer and I am able to reproduce your issue. Firstly, I install the Visual Studio 2013 express for web successfully, create a project and connect to SQL Server database. Then I right click one table,
and I can see all the options including ‘Show Table Data ’, ‘Open Table Definition ’, ‘Copy’, ‘Refresh’, and ‘Properties’. Next, I uninstall the SQL Server data tools, and restart the Visual Studio, right click on table, and only find the three options
‘Copy’, ‘Refresh’, ‘Properties’ as the following screenshot, which is the same scenario with yours.
Based on my test, the issue could be due to the missing or corrupt SQL Server Data Tools. To work around the issue, you should install the latest SQL Server data tools for Visual Studio 2013. You could download the
ISO file for SQL Server data tools and extract the ISO files to your hard drive following the methods in this
article, and install the data tools. Please restart your computer after you complete the installation.

Can't see Express after 1 minute. Using Extreme N
Hello Everybody
You guys are my last resort. I am unable to figure this out for the life of me. Using the AirPort Utility, I've configured a WDS Network with an AirPort Extreme N and an AirPort Express. My goal was to have wireless music connected to my home stereo and have the Express act as a birdge.
I've only sort-of accomplished this goal. My Macbook Pro is unable to see both the Extreme and the Express at the same time for more then 1 minute or so. It's certainly strange behavior.
If I reset my my Extreme, I am able to see the Express and the Extreme from the AirPort Utility. If I just leave it as it is, after about 1 minute or so I'll rescan and ONLY see the Extreme Base Station. I'm unable to stream music as iTunes can't locate the Express. If I reset my Extreme again to see both, only when I can see both, I'm able to stream music from iTunes to the Express. Today I streamed for about 6 hours without changing the song. When I came to change a song in iTunes, suddenly I could no longer see my Express!!
This is completely annoying and utterly ridiculous. I'm so close to returning the Express because it hasn't been as easy to use as everything esle I've bought from Apple. I've searched the boards and didn't find this specific issue.

Has anybody experienced this?WDS one of my favorite functions of the airport base stations
*first what id do just to make sure everything is happy as in mac happy
1:move the airport express and extreme to the same room
2:hard reset the express and extreme base station, just to start back off at square one
3:leave the express unplugged, and configure the extreme only using the assisted mode in the airport utility
4:after updating the extreme confirm the light on the extreme is green and your able to get online wireless n so on
5: now plug in the express, and run through the configuration on assisted setup
*same deal just using the options 1: connect to current wireless network, 2: extend the range of my wireless network, 3: choose the network of the extreme N base station, 4: then select the base station which is going to be the main *in this case its the extreme, 5: it may take it a moment but the airport utility will automatically configure the airports both WDS and it can take up to a entire minute for both to send their configuration to each other once its done and the airports are configured verify both are green and you can see both in the airport utility
Lastly, as long as you can see both airports in the utility, plug the express and move it to the desired location
*if this does not work however you can attempt to configure the base stations manually which isnt hard but id try the assisted mode first -
Lightswitch-I can't see tables created bya different restricted Oracle user
I am new to Lightrswitch and connecting to Oracle through VS - we usually have a middle tier to do this. We are looking at some rapid CRUD application development so I am looking into lightswitch.
However I have an issue:
I have two oracle users. One has full access to the tables and the other has restricted access. When attaching my Lightswitch application to the database if I use the one with full access it works a treat. However if I use the DB user that has restricted access I can not see any of the tables (even though I can see them fine logged in under the same restricted user in toad ?). Upon connection I have gone into the filters tab and selected the unrestricted schema under the "Displayed Schemas" option to no avail.
My version of Oracle is 9.2.0.7
I also have Oralce OLEDB provider - ODAC92070.exe
I have oracle developer tools ODTwithODAC1020221

I don't know of a workaround, other than to log in as the schema owner (which is probably a non-starter for you).
