  • Can't send email with SMTP servers

Not sure if I have the right SMTP server but I'm using mail.1xbell.ca and have also tried smtp.bellaliant.net. I can receive fine but can't send. It just times out. Tried it on 3G and WIFI.
I'm using Aliant in Newfoundland, Canada for my email and the phone is with Telus. The tech dude at Aliant wouldn't tell be dick all because the phone is with another carrier even though my email is with Aliant.
Any suggestions in getting this fixed?

If the email account provider for the email account is not the internet service provider associated with the wi-fi network your iPhone is connected to at the time and the email account provider for the email account does not have an authenticated SMTP server, you won't be able to send with the account - unless you have access to the ISP's SMTP server being used for your internet connection at the time.
As already provided, most if not all ISPs block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of the ISP's network or that isn't provided by the ISP being used for your internet connection at the time unless the SMTP server is authenticated.
A MobileMe account is my primary email account which has an authenticated SMTP server and I've never had a single problem sending with the account from my iPhone over the last 3 years regardless my internet connection at the time - various wi-fi networks with different associated ISPs or when connected to AT&T's cellular network.
Having an account with an authenticated SMTP server is the key.

  • Sending with different SMTP host....

A friend of mine subscribes to .Mac, and sends out a newsletter to more than 400 recipients a day (which exceeds the .Mac daily quota).
I saw in the .Mac forum someone with a similar problem, and a solution someone suggested was to use a different SMTP host (such as the one that comes with their provider).
The details they gave were kind of vague with the suggestion, and what I want to do is clarify a little....
She just got a new MBP, so I was going to help set it up and configure it (upgrading from her Cube), and was just wondering if I should just set the default SMTP host as her cable provider's SMTP. Simplicity is key here.
    So, here's the question:
If I set up her .Mac account so that the default SMTP account is her provider's SMTP setting, will it show as that other account for the "From" and "Reply To" when other people see it? (I don't care when people see long header/raw source-just to the average Joe/Joan).
I just want to make sure it's seamless.
    Thanks.

I am having a problem with multiple accounts - we use 4 ISP / SMTP accounts and when we set the outgoing SMTP server in Mail preferences for each account they seem to change without notice. Our web/business mail host mailbox will switch and try sending mail on att.net SMTP and the mail just won't go. At other times this causes the replys to come back to the wrong mail box. I could delete all but one but this causes additional problems with servers not accepting other IP mail. Anyone elso have this problem or an answer? We have a wired LAN thru a managed router but this doesn't seem to be the cause.

  • Can't send email through SMTP server

As some others have reported, I recently started having problems sending emails (most of the time) through my regular smtp server (receiving is not an issue). Once in a while it does go out, but most of the time I get a message "Can't send message using the server smtp.XXXX.com". I know it's not the smtp server as I can go out with my browser and use webmail and it sends fine, using the same server.
It only affects this one main email account - my other accounts seem fine (including gmail, mac, and another pop accounts), at least so far.
It is extremely frustrating - saw a whole lot of ideas for fixing it (changing ports, etc.), but don't want to mess up all the accounts that are working. I'm a long time Mac user, but not a real techie.

I know it's not the smtp server as I can go out with my browser
and use webmail and it sends fine, using the same server.
This is wrong. Whether you can send via webmail has nothing to do with whether you can send using a standard mail client such as Mail. The outgoing server that ends up delivering the message may be the same in both cases, but the outgoing server you communicate with is not. Actually, when sending via webmail you don’t even use SMTP to communicate with the outgoing server.
There are circumstances under which you may not be able to send using a standard mail client such as Mail no matter what you do (e.g. because the ports needed for SMTP are blocked by the ISP at the location you’re trying to send from), whereas webmail works fine — and may be your only option in those cases.
If it works sometimes, that means your account settings are probably correct, but you cannot discard that there is a problem with the outgoing (SMTP) server that Mail has to communicate with, even if sending via webmail works fine.
    <hr>
That said, go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list. Leave checked (enabled) only the port configuration needed to connect to Internet and Built-in Ethernet (in that order if not the same), uncheck (disable) the rest of network port configurations and see whether that helps — if it doesn’t, turn ON again the ones you want enabled.
Try using a different method to connect to Internet, if possible, or connecting the computer to Internet as directly as possible (i.e. bypassing any routers that might be present, using an ethernet cable instead of wireless, etc.), or shutting down both the computer and the router/modem used to connect to Internet, restarting, and see whether that makes a difference.
Mail keeps information about outgoing (SMTP) servers in a separate list independently of the mail accounts themselves. The account settings just associate one of the available outgoing servers with each account. Orphaned or dangling outgoing server entries (i.e. not associated with any account) sometimes cause weird sending problems.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Account Information > Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), choose Edit Server List from the popup menu, and delete any servers that shouldn’t be there — the Edit Server List panel shows the account each outgoing server is associated with.
If the problem persists and you have more than one mail account, try moving the account that has the problem to the top of the list in Preferences > Accounts.

  • TS3276 can receive mail, can not send, set up smtp(offline)?

I feel like a jerk, I know it is probably a simple change of wording in advanced setting or something I'm not doing correctly but I can not send mail using aol server. I use Safari only and have 2 accounts plus icloud, I have my Macbook Pro about 10 months and have had several mail issues but I worked them out.

    Hello:
I use AOL's mail as well.
Open mail.  Go to preferences and highlight your account in the sidebar.  Click on accounts>account information.  The out going mail server should show smtp.aol.com:your account name.  If that shows "offline," click on the drop down menu  "edit smtp server list."  The server name should be smtp.aol.com in use by your account.  Click on advanced.  You should use the default ports (25,465,587).  I authenticate using a password and my password is prefilled.  On rare occasions I have had a "gremlin" erase the password in that password box.  I have no clue how that happened, but the AOL server would not handle outgoing mail - showed offline.  Sometimes it took me quite awhile (restarts, etc) to get things going again.

  • Can't send e-mail- smtp server offline or disappeared

    Hi!
I've had issues sending e-mail from my @mac address for about a week.  I can send from iCloud on the web but not from iPad, iPhone or MacBook.
Sometimes the server is offline, sometimes just not there at all - the error msg gives the smtp info and says I can't connect. Connection Doctor says everything is fine.
    I've tried….
    - turning off iCloud on all devices and re-booting
    - removing a second e-mail account
    - manually changing smtp settings
    Receiving mail is fine.
    can anyone help??!

    Hey ruthccraig1,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there’s an issue sending emails from your iOS and Mac devices. The article linked below provides troubleshooting tips, like reconfiguring a hardware firewall, which can help you resolve the issue sending emails from your devices.

  • Can not send command via VISA test panel in MAX

    Hello all,
I am having a small issue using the VISA test panel in MAX.  I am trying to send a simple command to a device and then retrieve the response data.  I am able to do this successfully via Labview, but for whatever reason I can not get a good response in MAX.  The command that I am sending is simply a letter (address of the device) followed by an end of line character (\r\n in ascii).  In MAX, I simply append the \r\n onto the string sent in the buffer (Send End on Writes == FALSE).  All serial settings are the same as what I have in LV (19.2, 8-n-1).  Does anyone have any thoughts?  This is kind of frustrating as I just want to do something simple and don't want to have to build a whole routine in LV to do this.
    Cheers, Matt

Thanks, Broken.  I am getting a time out error.  Clearing the buffers doesn't seem to be making a difference. This is baffling to me.  I must be missing something fundamental.
Something that I didn't add before is that I seem to be able to send the command via labview without a read, and then read it via MAX.  This must have something to do with way it is sending the command.  Arrrrgh!

  • Why can I send command to my machine used MAX sometimes, but cann't I sometimes?

I'm developing a gpib interface for our machine using your nat9914 ,but when I send a command "*idn?" to my gpib interface used Measure & Automation, sometime communication was interrupt, this interrupt may appear one times when I communicate four times or more times or less times,Mearsure & Automation display "writing" or "Reading" and then display "EABO"

    Hi PeiWen,
Are you using our NI-488.2 drivers? If so, which version? EAB0 is a standard GPIB error message:
The EABO error is usually the result of a timeout during a read or a write operation, but it can also be caused by calling the ibstop function, the ibclr function, or similar functions while an I/O operation is in progress. You may receive a timeout during write operations with a PCI-GPIB board, if the PCI bus mastering (an option in the BIOS of your computer) is not enabled. You may receive a timeout during read operations, if the instrument you are reading from did not understand the previous command, so it has nothing to write to you. There are a few reasons why the instrument may not have anything to say:
The message to the instrument may have been misspelled. For example, "*IDN?" is a common identification query for IEEE 488.2 compliant instruments. It is easy to misspell this message as "*IND?", which the instrument will not understand, so it will not generate a message string for you to read from the instrument.
The message to the instrument may contain a command that the instrument does not understand. For example, the "*IDN?" message from the previous example is only understood by IEEE 488.2 compliant instruments. If your instrument is an older, non-IEEE 488.2 compliant device, then it will not understand "*IDN?", so it will not generate a message string for you to read from the instrument.
The instrument may use a particular EOS (end of string) character as its termination method, but you may forget to append this termination character to your message. For example, if your instrument expects a linefeed as the EOS character, then "ID?" will not work, but "ID?\n" (where \n represents a linefeed in IBIC) will.
You may expect to see EOI (end or identify, one of the five bus management lines) as the termination method, but if the instrument does not set the EOI line when it finishes sending its message, any read operation that you perform will time out.

  • How can I send commands to a stepper motor to move in steps?

How can I controll a stepper motor by using labview.7?
    what do I need?

This will depend on what hardware you are using to send the commands to the stepper motor. NI offers motion controllers and drives that come with all the functions you will need to operate the motors. Depending on the size and number of motors, you will have different hardware requirements. Take a look at the motion products available here: http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/nioc.vp?cid=1506〈=US
If you have more questions, you can always contact NI at www.ni.com/contact to help spec out the system.
If you are using third party products, you will have to call their dll from LabVIEW using a Call Library Node function. This gives you access to all the functions in a dll.
    Hope this helps.

  • I can't send email because SMTP rejects my password, what's up?

I am trying to send an email and I get this pop-up that says:
The SMTP server "smtp.mac.com" rejected the password for user
Please re-enter your password, or cancel.
When I enter my password and click OK the same box pops up again. This seems odd and hasn't happened before so why?

I think I will have to wait until Apple sorts the problem out or if it persists tomorrow, I will continue to seek support on these or other boards. I went into the keychain access.app and verified my information, no errors found. I reset my password for my email account server (smpt) and still have the problem. Must be a problem with Apple.

Are you having trouble on an iPhone or iPad (which uses iOS) or on a computer? If you're having trouble on an iOS device, what does turning off your computer have to do with this? Which iPhone? Which version of iOS? Have you tried resetting your device by pressing and holding the Home button and power button until the silver apple appears? Have you tried deleting the email account and adding it back?
