Can the current Macbook Pro 13 inch run Color?

Under Minimum Requirements, it says it needs a bigger display. Can it still run, even if it is a little small, or will it refuse to run altogether?

I doubt it, though. The minimums are pretty hard-and-fast, mostly because the UI is absolutely inflexible. There are hacks for re-setting the minimums at an OS level, but the results are unpredictable and usually result in an unusable install. Mostly because users can't read the tiny print on the buttons.

I think you are referring to the Late 2008 Aluminum MacBook. It's an Unibody computer, and this MacBook has got a non-replaceable battery. You have to take the computer to an Apple Store or reseller to get your battery replaced.

Can't upgrade MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008) to snow leopard

I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008) and a copy of snow leopard on DVD. When I try to upgrade it says that snow leopard cannot be installed on this computer

Perhaps the HDD does not have sufficient room. It needs a minimum of 5 GB for Snow Leopard.
In all other respects your MBP should be able to install 10.6.
Disk MC223Z/A is the appropriate retail disk.

Should i get the current MacBook Pro or the new design MacBook pro 2012?

GImme some opinions which to choose? Should i wait for the supposedly new design MacBook Pro? or get the current models that hae pretty good specs? I'm doing college at the moment and my current laptop is 4yrs old in need of a new one and hopefully get the 17" MBP coz the specs seem amazing. I'm doing graphics and multimedia so i would need a laptop that can handle all those stuff and be fast. So gimme some ideas what you think abt the current MBP and the soon to come new models? which is something pretty doubtful.

Hold off the buying. The current unibody macs are the last of the generation. A geenration that's in it's 4th year.
You might want to consider upgrading your current hard drive only to an SSD if your mac supports it. You can then move this over to your new mac. That's what I have done, and the speed difference of an SSD makes it feel like a new machine.
I would also suggest you buy a 15" and not a 17" save your money. The 17 is loking carrying a surfboard around.

you can get the non-Retina model with either a 2.5 GHz Core i5 or a 2.9 GHz Core i7 Ivy Bridge CPU. You can get the Retina model with either a 2.4 GHz Core i5 Haswell, a 2.6 GHz Core i5 Haswell, or a 2.8 GHz Core i7 CPU.
You should go for whichever model best meets your requirements.

Sims 3 will run on medium setting with approximately 33 fps (which is ok).
Most other games will run on low settings, some on medium. Its definitely not a gaming laptop but it can handle some games.

Is the current MacBook Pro right for me?

I'm looking into purchasing a 17" MBP, 2.8GHz, 8GB RAM and 7200 RPM 500GB HDD.
Now, I'm trying to tiptoe around this subject as speculation is frowned upon here, so please forgive me if I happen to accidentally cross any sort of speculating line.
Anyway, I need a machine that's portable (not ultraportable), able to smoothly and easily work with large audio/video/image files (Logic Studio, Final Cut, Photoshop, etc), and occasionally do some gaming. I'm sure this particular MBP would be able to do the trick.
HOWEVER, with all the rage regarding Sandy Bridge processors and a possible MBP refresh soon, one thing has got me curious. (Sorry for the speculating here.)
My understanding is that the current MBP has integrated as well as a dedicated video card, and IF a Sandy Bridge MBP was released, it would be switched to integrated video. Basically, I'm wondering if these integrated graphics would be a negative thing for someone like me. I know in the past, integrated graphics have been less than stellar.
I also understand that Sandy Bridge features great energy saving and performance upgrades, which are of course welcome. I'm not impatient, so I can wait for a refresh, but if it's going to have a negative impact on what I need it for, I'd rather get a hold of the current MBP while I still can.
As I said, I apologize for any speculation or "bad things" in this post.

I am aware of the recall, and like I said, I've got no problem waiting. I believe Intel has already announced they will start shipping again soon. An interesting note here. Since only the four SATA II connections on the board were faulty, the two SATA III connections were fine, some manufacturers may still use the "faulty" boards. I don't think I'd be bothered too much by connections that I'd never be able to use not working properly. Assuming no other problems would arise.
Anyone have any more input on the dedicated/integrated graphics situation? Could Apple still include a dedicated graphics card along with these Intel integrated graphics?

Can the Retina MacBook Pro Handle Itself?

I'm about to order a R-MBP. One of the reasons I am hesitant to order though is because I've heard rumors that the hardward isn't good enough to handle all the power needed for pushing the huge high quality display. Specifically, I've heard that the HD4000 and 650M are not meant to do it and that going to websites like facebook cause FPS to shoot down to ~18-20 FPS. Is this true or not?

the screen resolution indeed does not run at 2880x1800, thus fps for regulare apps isn't an issue, but those games (namely SC2) may use the full resolution, Civ 5 I'm not sure about if it uses that resolution or not.
(in fact, the system won't let you use the full resolution for the desktop, everything would be entirely too small if it was-- there is a 3rd party app or two that can probalby do it, but it would be silly to)
If fps in those games are not to your satisfaction, you can always run at a lower res--it'll still look very good.

How can i allocate more RAM for my onboard video card on a 2011 macbook pro 13 inch running windows 7 via bootcamp

I noticed that since Macbooks.. macs in general use an EFI instead of BIOS. . .. Now i need to allocate some more RAM for the onboard video card since its currently running with an estimated 50mb.. I would like to increase this to 512 and cut the 3.95 down to 3.5 MB for the rest of the system ( allowing me to run more graphic intensive games and the such ... ) I know this could slow down the entire system.. ( i am aware of this ) and have gotten a 3rd party application to control and close out uneeded processes during gaming.. I just need more ram for my onboard video card.. Any help?

You don't allocate more RAM towards your video card, you put more RAM into the machine and hopefully some machines will bump the CPU graphics RAM allocation up a little.
The problem is you bought a integrated only graphics computer, if you want to 3D game you need a dedicated graphics computer with it's own or dedicated VRAM.
If your this serious about 3D gaming, your on the wrong platform.
Get a Windows 7 64bit i7 8GB RAM expandable 3D gaming tower with a good power supply and video card upgrade path, this way every few years you buy and stick in a new video card to play the latest games.
Mac's are not gaming machines and never will be because they would last too long if we could upgrade them.

Well, I am a smallish, sixty-something woman, and I've never found my 17" MBP (2008) too heavy to haul around. I got rid of my desk-top when I got this 17 incher, thinking I would eventually get a monitor for the large screen. Well, it has been 4 and a half years and I haven't found a need for the monitor yet.
I do a lot of photography, the kind with serious editing, so my hi-res non--glare screen is a must, as is the larger screen.
If I hauled this thing with me everywhere I went, it would be cumbersome, but that's what my ipad is for. The 17" MBP has been my dream machine, I just hope they source 17" retina panels and put it back in the line-up before I have to replace my trusty old machine.
For the way I use the MBP, a 15" would leave me needing a desk top version to supplement it. I like having the one machine to do it all, and love that I now have the ipad to do the light hauling. No need to take up space on my desk (or sit at a desk) with a desk top, when I have the 17" MPB.

Even if you update the hardware, and the cable fits, the port is not a thunderbolt port (on your 2010 MBP). So it won't work.
