Can the sensor send a tcp reset when it is installed inline?

I would like to find out if the IPS will send a reset to the attacker when a signature is modified to deny-attacker-service-pair-inline.

Ok so here?s the deal. With the IPS, we are blocking inside workstations from connecting to eDonkey servers using deny-attacker-service-pair. The connections come through a PIX 501.
What appears to happen is that the connection is blocked by the IPS but each time the client tries to connect to a new eMule/eDonkey server; a connection request populates the PIX connection table. The table on the pix becomes full and thus denies further connections from other clients. DOS happens?.
As Marco has pointed out, the IPS can only send a reset for the initial denied request. What can we do on the pix to calm the connection from the host that is syn flooding via the PIX.

How can the IP-address be faked ('spoofed') when online?

It depends on what you're trying to do.
As mentioned, if you want a response, you have to have a valid IP address so that the remote system knows where to send the reply. If you're trying to hide your real IP address, though, then you can pas your traffic through a proxy server of some kind.
In this setup your machine sends its traffic (e.g. a web page request) to the proxy server. That proxy server then relays the requests on your behalf and the server sees (and replies to) the proxy server's address. The proxy then relays the response back to you.
In this case the remote server sees the proxy's address and not yours. However, the proxy server knows your address and may or may not log it.
There are numerous open proxy servers on the internet - many of them used for nefarious reasons, but they're not hard to find.

  • How can I deactivate Adobe photoshop elements 9 when its un-installed?

How can I deactivate Adobe photoshop elements 9 when its un-installed? I told my husband I had to get it off the third computer but he trying to help me did not deactivate it before he  un-installed it!!!!
Now what? I am only using this on 2 computers and I'm told I am using it on a 3rd and I'm not.
    How can I fix this?
It wont work on the 3rd one anyway because its so old and limited it crashes every time I try. But I need this on my 2 good computers.

One way could be to reinstall it on the third computer and then deactivate it and uninstall it.
If that doesn't work out or if you'd rather try this route it should work... contact Adobe Support either by chat or via phone and they should be able to help.  Chat is usually 24/7

  • Can the CSM send a 200 OK message ?

Is there any mean to configure a sorry server in the CSM, which would send a predefined HTML string, in response of a user GET request ? In other words, is it possible for the CSM to send a 200 OK message with some simple HTML body to the client instead of a 301/302 code ?
    Yves Haemmerli

Yves, the CSM can't generate web page.
If you need a sorryserver , you will have to find an external server to accompish the task and then configure the csm to redirect the traffic to this particular server when required.

  • Can the boot camp partition be resized once windows is installed and running as virtual machine using vm fusion ware?

I have macbook air partitioned 505/50 and running OSX and win 7 side by side as virtual machines using vm fusion.  Can the partition size be changed without starting over?

Very helpful.  I started with vm ware to create a pseudo drive but could not import win 7 over home network.  mac has no immediate way to connect to network without adapter, and has no cdrom.  So i used boot camp to create partition, then made a bootable win7 iso file on a memory stick using win 7 usb/cdrom download tool from microsoft, and rEFIT to get mac to boot from the mem stick into the dos partition.  Then i ran vm fusion to import the win 7 partition as a virtual machine.  OSx and win 7 run side by side.
Seems from what you say that sizing cannot be accomplished without deleting partition and starting over.  If I start over and just run vm fusion to create he win7 virtual machine, not sure how I would bet the minimum win 7 os into the ac.  Perhaps vm will boot from the mem stick using refit.  Do you know?

  • In mail how do I stop messages from the same sender from showing up when I select the most recent message from a sender?

on my iMac, when I view messages there is a grey number at the top of the message. This number denotes the amount of  messages from that sender and when I view the most recent message in my mailbox (from that sender) all of the older messages load with it and this takes a while for the message to become moarked as "read." I know that I can turn this off because I have mountain lion on my air and i do not have this issue. how can i turn it off?

  • How do I make sure the print dialog settings are reset when Adobe Reader is closed?

    Hello everyone,
we operate a printshop, several terminals (win7+Acrobat 11.0).
Lots of users and files daily. when a user leaves a terminal and quits adobe acrobat,
the next user inherits his print settings (dialogue boxes).
unfavourable - as some use  duplex, scaling or several pages on 1 page.
I know that you can edit certain registry entries to change some settings but I didn't find something close to solve our problem
default on application close -> wishful behaviour
Does anybody have a idea? would be really awesome
    regards

  • Bug report: Controls in the Data Entry property page reset when using relative time

    Create a blank VI.
    Drop a numeric control.
Right click and select "Display Format".
    Change to a relative time.
Switch to the "Data Entry" tab page.
Uncheck the "Use Default Limits" boolean.
Try changing the values and you will see that they return to their previous values (inf, by default). This persists even after pressing OK and opening the dialog again. It looks like the values are held in a cache and put back into the controls, since if you change a page and go back to the limits page, it shows the correct values. I also managed to get it to display the values using the correct format (relative time), which I assume is what it should be doing.
    This is in LabVIEW 8.6.
Try to take over the world!

Relative Time Data Entry Bug.vi ‏5 KB

I spent some time playing around with this in 8.6.1, and at this time do not consider it a bug - unless there is something I completely missed.
When you set to relative time, the inputs for data entry are expecting HH:MM or HH:MMS, depending on which display setting you chose.  Typing a '7' is undefined - does the user mean hours? Minutes? Seconds? Parsecs ?
Once we type in a value that matches the format and we get the display to change, it is true that from now on if we type '7' in the field, it will automatically coerce it to 7:00, if we type 36 it coerces to 36:00.  If we type 7.5, it does not change the value at all.  I think at this point, the user knows what is going on, so this behavior is acceptable.  After accepting the changes and re-opening the properties window, the limits are persistent.
I was not able to reproduce typing a '7' in the limit, having it automatically coerce back to '-inf', then going to a different tab or clicking ok, and coming back and seeing it as 7:00. It was still '-inf'.  If you have some more details on this, maybe I can reproduce it, but from everything I tried, users are be able to enter values and these values are saved.
Edit - I am aware of the other forum post and the CAR filed there...

  • How can the volume control code be reset if unknown on an ipod 2GB?

    ipod   Windows XP Pro

    To reset screen-lock passcode:
Connect the iOS device to your computer and restore via iTunes. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
To sell an iPod first go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings. As it says the iPod is erased, all content and association with your account is erased.

  • TS3899 Why Can't I send emails from iPad when I am overseas. I live I Australia

I live in Australia and when I go overseas I cannot send emails from my ipad2 using wifi. Have no trouble receiving than. HELP PLEASE

Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

  • Why can't I send emails with ios8 when not on wifi

When not on wifi, I cannot send mail and a message about IMAP comes up.  It also says to check configuration in settings.  What is the solution.  Thanks.

Probably you did not enter your email and password for the outgoing mail server when setting up the account. It works on your WiFi because it is within your ISP's network. When you are using cellular data it's outside of your ISP's network, so you need to prove who you are to the server.

  • HT5361 Can I use send and delivery receipts when composing mail?

Does anyone know if I can ask for read receipts and delivery receipts when composing mail?

    Additionally (to BobtheFisherman):
And his suggested method will work just as well as any send/read receipt since many recipients will not allow such a receipt be sent. If it is important enough to require a receipt, send it via USPS return receipt requested, or FedEx, etc.

  • Can the node's UID be different when re-joining the cluster?

Let's say that we have a split brain scenario and when both islands meet again one of them is "marked as invalid" and is restarted. Upon cluster restart will the restarted nodes get new UID values?
    Thanks,
    -- Gato

    Gato,
Absolutely! The UID is the member's identity and if the cluster service restarts (within a given Java process), it will be always assigned a new and unique UID.
