Can we execute BAPI in background?

Hi All,
I have a report in which i have used BAPI . I need to execute that report in background via a variant.
Is it possible to run a BAPI in background ?
Please suggest ?
Thanks,
Srinivas

Hello Srinivas,
BAPI is not standalone entity it has to be called by some other entity for e.g. report, function module, object method etc.
So, it is not possible to run BAPI in background. Workaround to this problem is to create report calling BAPI and then schedule
that report in background.
For more information on JOB scheduling see following link:
https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/Snippets/HowtocreateandreleaseaJob
Thanks,
Augustin.

  • Can i execute bapi two times if yes then wht code i need to write 2 time.

    Hi,
    I am trying to execute my bapi at wdDoInit() method of view . Same Bapi will execute at  Controller.
    But my view bapi is not running.
    Why this is happeded?
    My code for View is like this
    public void wdDoInit()
        //@@begin wdDoInit()
         IWDMessageManager manager = wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager();
                   try
                               wdContext.currentZcrm_Sales_Orders_InputElement().setRun_Bp("ALL");
                               wdContext.currentZcrm_Sales_Orders_InputElement().setUname("SUNIL103");
                               wdContext.currentZcrm_Sales_Orders_InputElement().modelObject().execute();
    wdContext.nodeOutput().invalidate();
                   catch(WDDynamicRFCExecuteException e)
                                    manager.reportException(e.getMessage(), false);
        //@@end
    Please help me to trace this thing ,

    Hi,
       Change this code a bit:
    Zcrm_Sales_Orders_Input input = new Zcrm_Sales_Orders_Input();
    wdContext.nodeZcrm_Sales_Orders_Input().bind(input);
    input.setRun_Bp("ALL");
    input.setUname("SUNIL103");
    wdContext.currentZcrm_Sales_Orders_InputElement().modelObject().execute();
    wdContext.nodeOutput().invalidate();

  • How can i execute a workflow using a bapi/wapi??

    Hi All,
    How can i execute a workflow using a bapi/wapi??
    pls advice
    thanks

    Hi Hrus,
    it's not as simple as a single BAPI to approve a workflow.
    Workflow comes with a Workflow API (WAPI) that you can use to programmatically interact with the workflow system. The WAPI is implemented as a group of RFC-enabled function modules that are prefixed with "SAP_WAPI_".
    Approving a workflow is simply taking a decision path for a workflow item. It is logically no different to rejecting the same workflow item or any other workflow decision.
    As part of NetWeaver workflow is tightly coupled to the WAS platform you are running on so you may need to perform WAPI operations slightly differently on older releases.
    Some of the WAPI calls you might need to use include: -
      SAP_WAPI_GET_HEADER to get the workitem header
      SAP_WAPI_READ_CONTAINER to get the workitem container
      SAP_WAPI_GET_OBJECTS to get the attached objects
      SAP_WAPI_DECISION_READ to get a list of possible decisions
      SAP_WAPI_SET_WORKITEM_STATUS to set the workitem status
      SAP_WAPI_WRITE_CONTAINER to write to the workitem container
      SAP_WAPI_EXECUTE_WORKITEM to execute the workitem
    I usually do what you are trying to do by adding the decision to the workflow container and then executing the workflow.
    Be warned, you can really stuff things up if you get this wrong! Make sure you know what you are doing.
    Quoting from Practical Workflow for SAP by Alan Rickayzen, et al from SAP Press...
    Writing directly to the workflow container is dangerous because it can compromise the integrity of the process.
    ...be careful that you do not waste time duplicating existing ad hoc features of SAP's Workflow Engine.
    For example you can use events (combined with wait steps), instead of container modifications to force the workflow to restart.
    Cheers
    Graham Robbo

  • Can we execute the BAPI in SE37?.

    Can we execute the BAPI in SE37?.

    Yes Satish. We can execute BAPI's via transaction SE37.
    But for explicit commit we have to execute BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT
    To do so:
    1. SE37.
    2. Menupath: Function Module -> Test -> Test Sequences
    3. In the popup screen, give the BAPI Name and then BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT.
    These FM's will be executed in sequence.
    Hope this helps.
    Kind Regards

  • SAP GRC RAR 5.3 SP9 "Cannot execute BAPI UserList"

    Hi everyone,
    After upgrading to 5.3 SP9, my client started experiencing some problems with RAR. I doubt it's linked to the upgrade, since I did all the testing and results were as expected. The problem is as follows:
    Using RAR, for only one specific system (SAP ECC6 box), when running foreground AND background analysis for USERS, all analysis fails with the following error log (see below message). All ROLE analysis work as expected (SOD and critical actions/autorisations).
    In the configuration tab, the connexion test is successful. I did some testing with a BASIS from the client and we identified that when running a successful analysis, we could log a RFC connection to the backend system (dont recall the transaction used though). When the analysis failed, no connexion was logged.
    The client's GRC admin opened a ticket with SAP, but I was wondering if the collective knowledge of SDN could maybe help us identify the cause of our problems.
    Any solution path is welcome
    Kind regards
    Jerome Fortin

    Yes, I am aware there might be an issue with the BAPI USER list execution, it is pretty excplicit in the message.
    I was wondering if anyone has seen this error before and if someone can help me trace the source of the error. A message was already open with SAP before christmas and no solution was identified at the moment.

  • Can I execute a function module in my  Webdynpro App ?

    Hi,
    Can I execute a function module in my Webdynpro App ?  I mean, it's not a BAPI.
    Is it possible ?   which is the procedure to follow ?  (comparing to a bapi procedure).
    Thanks for your help !
    Regards from Mexico.  =)
    Diego

    Hi Diego,
    the warning icon indicates that you're using a function module that has not been externally released. If the corresponding function module has been defined by SAP, its interface might be changed in an incompatible way within one of the next releases, e.g. removing / renaming a parameter or structure field. Stability is only guaranteed for BAPIs or external released function modules.
    From the point of view of the model import it does not make any difference. If import does not work, there seems to be some other problem. Maybe the function module has not been activated in the R/3 system. Or check the log file or the import log page which will be the last page of the import wizard.
    You might want to import some other none external released function module in order to verify that model import of these kind of function module works.

    Hi Gurprit,
    For executing the bapi second time, you can put the execute bapi code in the action of the button which is on your form. You need not write the bind code again.

  • Execute listcube in background - where is the file stored on app server

    Hi,
    I want to execute listcube in background.
    to execute in background, the only output option available is Store in file (appl server).
    My question is where is this file stored.
    there is no information in the job log nor is there any spool.
    Also, can I determine myself where is this output file written.

    I have a couple of questions that could lead to an answer to your question...
    Does your BW environment have one or more application servers, in addition to the Database Central Instance (DBCI)? If so, do you use logon groups for SAP Logon so that the logon loads are balanced?
    I'm asking these questions because if you have a multiple application server environment and logon balancing, you may not be logging onto the same server every time that you're executing LISTCUBE and it will save to the directory path of the server you're logged onto.

    Background: I have created a VI that acquires data over bluetooth from a specific DAQ device. The VI is created in Windows 7 and LV 8.5. The VI is tested to work on the development machine. I'd like end users to be able to install and run an executable version of this VI from a tablet that has bluetooth capability.
    Question:  Which tablets can run executables created in LabVIEW 8.5? I think tablets running Windows 8.1, such as Surface Pro and Dell Venue Pro, should be okay but need a confirmation before I purchase one. Also, how about tablets that run other operating systems, such as Windows RT or Android?
    Extended Question: What tablets in the market can run LabVIEW 8.5 VIs (or in other words allow LabVIEW 8.5 to be installed)?

    Well since LabVIEW 8.5 isn't officially supported on Windows 7, or 8 you may have issues.

    Of course many on the forums have stated being able to run older versions of LabVIEW on new operating systems without issue but know that from NI's perspective you should not be running LabVIEW 8.5 on Windows 7.  Which means no modern tablet.

  • BAPI in Background mode

    Hi,
    How to schedule BAPI in Background mode.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Madhavi

    Hi,
    When you create a batch input session, it remains in the batch input queue until it is explicitly started. Session processing can be started in two ways:
    An on-line user can start the session using the batch input menu options. (To access the batch input options, choose System>Services>Batch Input.)
    You can submit the background job RSBDCSUB to start a session in background processing. If several sessions have the same name, RSBDCSUB starts them all.
    It's possible to coordinate the generation and execution of a session in the background processing system.
    You can, for example, schedule both the batch input program and RSBDCSUB in the background. If you designate the batch input job as the predecessor for RSBDCSUB, then RSBDCSUB will be started automatically when the batch input job successfully completes.
    Alternatively, you can schedule both the batch input program and RSBDCSUB as job steps in a single background job. In this case, however, RSBDCSUB is started even if the batch input program should terminate abnormally.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Execute FM in background - how to

    Hi,
    I want to execute function module in background (for BI) - without any report which can be executed in background.
    Possible?

    Hi,
    I don't think this is possible without calling the FM from a report.
    Only ABAP reports of type 1 (interactive) and J (Interface Pools) can be run in the background.
