Can you double space a table of contents page?

Sorry for this newbie question. I have searched help and the forum and I can't find an answer that helps me. I have a document that I'm working with and the table of contents if functional. However, I would like to doublespace the table of contents lines and I can't figure out how to do that. Would anyone have any suggestions? Thank You for your time!

Select the TOC then Inspector > T tab > Text > Line , there is a small button to the right >Double
Or in the Format bar > Line spacing button

Using table comparison transform can you point to multiple tables as target tables?
Thank you very much for the helpful info.

If you want to feed the output to multiple tables, you can do so, but you have to be cautious enough on which table to be used as a comparison table in this case. The comparison table provided inside Table Comparison will be compared against the input data set for generating opcodes (Insert / Update / Delete) to input rows.

  • Creating a table of contents page using combined documents

    Adobe Version 7.0
When combining multiple documents as one .pdf document, can a table of contents page be set up simultaneously?  If so, can page numbers be added?
We have several type of documents (.xls, doc, pdf) that we combine on a regular basis to create one document to view on line and/or print in a book format.  We manually type a Table of Contents page to correspond with those documents and manually insert page numbers.  Is there a better way?

I would suggest you create the base document in WORD and then print all to a new PDF. That may provide the functionality you want with an automatic table of contents creation.

  • Shaded band on Table of Contents page

    Hi everyone
I wonder if anyone can help me with a query on the Table of Contents page?  Everything is looking good except that at the bottom of the page there is a shaded square on the left and a band all the way across the page and extending beyond the green b/g.  It doesn't look like it is part of the design of the TOC page and is a bit unattractive.  This is the "Natural Science" template.
In chapters where I have lots of sections in the contents list, the section names do not show up well in this shaded part.  I have moved everything around on the page so that the text box with the section names is on the RH side and the heading on the left, but this section text box has to be pushed further up the page because of the lower shaded band and looks a bit unnatural there.
Any ideas?  I enclose a picture of an example page to show what I am seeing.
    Many thanks
    Eluned

I can help a bit by saying that those shaded areas at the bottom are placeholders for the thumbnails or preview images of your chapter's sections and pages. When working properly it looks like a film strip.
What I can't say is why yours aren't showing up. I'm having the same problem and signed into the forums to look for solutions to this. I hope someone else can offer a suggestion for us both.

  • Space in table cell content

    Hi,
I want to add some space before and after the table cell content. I am using setIntercellSpacing() method to achieve that and I could get the required functionality. But its adding space in the Table Header also which looks odd. Is there any way to set the spacing only for the cell and not for the table header.
Let me know if anyone has solution for this.
    Thanks and Regards,
    R.Vishnu Varadhan.

I find this behaviour of setIntercellSpacing() very annoying, too. Why the hell did the Swing developers implement it that way?
Nevertheless, you can create the desired effect by writing a custom cell renderer, but that is if course more work than that single method call.

  • Can't double space anymore in TextEdit halp!

I just went to double space my term paper today, and realized, I couldn't!
under format < text I have no options other than writing direction, they're all in shadow so choosing them isn't even an option.
I use to be able to do this, along with other things I now can't do! But I have no idea where they went.
Any ideas on how to fix this, so I can double space my documents would be fabulous!

maybe i've posted in the wrong area. I have 10.4.10.
I don't know if that makes a huge difference, when i did my last software update, textedit seemed unchanged.... perhaps something has accidently been deleted that is causing it to disrupt ?
but anywho: to GET to that contextual menu, you must first ( on my text edit version )
go to format, then text, then the spacing option is there right above link, list and table, and below show, copy, and paste ruler options.... I KNOW where I'm to go.... but I'm saying, it doesn't give the option to choose spacing....
i kinda want to give up.... but still... I kinda don't! bahhh!!!

  • Can I create a custom table of contents and link to other .pdf files based on responses to a form?

Hey Everyone! First post ever, so bear with me:
I'm trying to create a streamlined method to use a form  to let myself and others add information and select certain options to put together a custom table of contents. Basically, I would like to have a form with a series of text fill and single/multiple choice options that will automatically populate a table of contents based on the selections and will link to other .pdf files that are associated with the selections. I was hoping this would be possible with a form, but I'm relatively new to the function of the software as a whole and my research came up short. Any suggestions on how to start are more than welcome, and if I wasn't quite clear enough I would be happy to elaborate.
    Thanks for your time!

You would need to search for other PDF creation software that can accomplish what you desire.
There are many cheaper  PDF creation alternatives other than Adobe's Acrobat Pro software.
Also, try doing a web search under these terms to see if you can find an app/software/solution that may work for you.

  • How can I include, in the table of content, a title that I have put on a shape?

    Hello all,
    1. I have a table of content
    2. I have added shapes
    3. I wrote text (titles. subtitles) on the shapes
    4. They do not appear in the table of content.
    5. They only appear in the table of content if they are not on a shape.
    Pages 5.5.2
    Can you help?
    Law

    Hi Law,
Text in a shape or a text box will not feature in the table of contents.
To get a colour behind your titles, type them into your document (not a shape). Format as Heading or some other paragraph style the TOC will recognise.
Select the title text and Format Panel > Text > Font > Gearwheel > Advanced Options.
Choose Character Fill Color and choose a colour from the palette (left) or colour circle (right).
Example Titles (all on the same page for a smaller screen shot).
Chapter 3 (in a coloured Text Box or Shape) does not appear in the TOC:
    Hint for cheats :
To give the titles a wider Character Fill Colour, add some Tab characters before and after.
    Regards,
    Ian.

  • Why can't I update a table of contents in Windows InDesign CS 5.5?

I have clicked in a table of contents frame, but on my layout menu, "udpate table of contents" is grayed out.
I have "moved" my table of contents from an InDesign doc I created weeks ago into a new doc. I can update it in the old doc, but when it's copied into the new doc, the update option is no longer available.
Why can't I updated it once it's in another doc so I can use its TOC styles & layouts rather than having to redefine those all over again?
    Thanks!

Loading the TOC style gave me the fonts I wanted, but not the dots & the page numbers that were in the doc from which I loaded the styles.  My TOC has no page numbers now, but I do like the font.
Is there a trick to getting the page number display with the dots to show up?

  • Creating button that will take you to table of contents pages

I'm using CS4 and have created a 30 page document with a table of contents (TOC) on page 2. On my master page I have previous and next page buttons that have rollover states. These work.
I want a button in the middle that will take you to the TOC page.
I have tried creating a text anchor on page 2 and setting the action of my button to go to anchor but in the button window the text anchors area is grayed out and has 'none' in it.
I also tried to have a button with a rollover state just for show (no action assigned) and putting an invisible hyperlink on top of the button. The link goes to page 2. This only works on the areas where my hyperlink does not overlap the button.
Is there a way around this?

  • Can you really update two tables in one SQL statement

Ok a post in the forum has got me awefully curious:
Can you update two tables in one update statement i.e something like this
    update table a , b
    set b.<column> = something
    a.<column> = something
    Something to this effect.
If you are curious to know what post I am talking about it is called "updating a single row"

No. You can only update one table in one SQL statement.

  • Can I override a certain Table of Contents feature?

    Hello,
Basically I've got 2 main titles in my book. Each title is on two lines. Like this
    Talks to
    Parents and Teachers
I am using the table of contents feature to link to these titles. I've disabled the numbering feature so that in the contents they act as headings BUT
I want them on one line, such as
    Talks to Parents and Teachers
Is there anyway to make this happen? I know I can delete the break manually, but whenever I update the table of contents it brings back the 2 lines...
    Any ideas much appreciated.
    Thanks

Thanks for asking. I always knew that an answer to this pesky problem would finally percolate to the tip of my tongue, and...
    Try this:
    * Create a paragraph style to use for these headings.
    * Create the text on one line, tagged with the paragraph style.
    * Create a character style with the No Break property.
    * Starting from the character that should start the second line, apply the No Break character style to the end of the line.
    * Manually increase the right indent of the heading until the text wraps to a second line.
    * Create a paragraph style for the entry in TOC with a "normal" right indent.
    [EDIT]
    * In the TOC setup dialog box, choose the heading paragraph style for extraction by the TOC.
    * Generate the TOC.
