I have an issue where I need to know at runtime if the current file has reader rights so that a link will directed them to one place or another.
I was hoping with javascript I could check if the form has reader rights
or
the file name will be different for the version with reader rights so the other option is with javascript can it tell me filename of itself.

Hi,
there is indeed a method to check usage rights.
Here is a folder level script to check those rights.
You should be able to use this also in a script in your form.

For that Nikon model you need ACR 8.3 that means CS6 or CC. Or you can download the DNG converter convert your Nikon RAW files to Adobe RAW files. And then process the Adobe RAW files with CS5 ACR version 6.7

How can you tell which computer that is authorized as the master?

I have several computers that I have connected my iPhone to. How can I tell which computer I should connect to before updating the operating system? I don't want to loss data if I don't have to.

I am not that familiar with Apple and iTunes and was getting help from someone who said that I can plug my iPhone into my computers but that I would have to authorize the iPhone on each but the limit is 5.
This is not accurate.
You can authorize up to 5 computers with the same iTunes account. There is no device limit for the number of iPods, iPads, and iPhones that can be synced with the same iTunes library and iTunes account on the same computer.
An iPhone can be synced with an iTunes library on one computer only, and photos can be transferred from one computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first.
This is why I asked - you have connected your iPhone to each one of these computers for what?

How many computers are you talking about? If 5 or less, this should take you no more than 10 minutes to determine which computer you transferred music and photos from.

I have been using firefox for years to read my email. recently the size of text became small and hard to read. I would like to get the text size large again, so I don't have to use the other browser. I have a att yahoo email account and subscribe to at&t uverse for internet service.

I tried both of your suggestions and neither one worked. I found the solution by clicking on the "View" button, then "Reset". This put my email back to the original font/text size. Somehow the screen had been Zoomed in, so to change it, follow the instructions above.

I was wondering if something like this exists for OS X Lion or greater: you can set a default application to open a type of file, say Safari for all .html files, but can you set a second default application for a file?
I usually open files using command + o or command + down arrow from the Finder and I've often thought how good it would be to hit an alternate keyboard shortcut to open the selected file in a secondary default application.
For example, if I'm making a web page and have the .html selected in the finder I can hit command + o (or command + down arrow) to open it in Safari and if the file isn't open in my editor and is selected in the Finder I can hit, say command + option + o (or command + option + down arrow) to open the .html file in my editor.
Does anyone know if this can be achieved in OS X Lion or greater?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

If anyone's interested in a partial solution, I've rigged up the following.
I ended up using an Automator action coupled with Spark to capture a keyboard key combination. Spark: http://www.shadowlab.org/Software/spark
I've used Spark before with good results, and although it's from 2008 it still works on Lion.
I created an Automator action that does two things:
gets the selected Finder items
opens finder items in the text editor I'm using.
I then saved the workflow as an application so that Spark could run it.
I've set up a keyboard shortcut that Spark picks up and calls my Automator workflow. It all seems to work nicely.
So, I've created a specific "open selected file with <text editor>" keyboard shortcut that should do for the time being.

Can I tell within my server code that a client vm has connected?

I have some server-side code and would like to modify the code path based on whether a client is connected and debugging or not. For example:

doSomethingElse();So what would go in the isClientDebugging() method? I could do something very ugly like attempt to connect to myself and if that failed due to the port not being available I could assume a client is connected. But I have to think there's a better way.

What are you trying to achieve? My client/server system uses simple socket communication. A client can connect to a server and send messages to the server. A client can change the logging state (e.g. "fine for debugging") of the server by just sending a custom command. My server holds references for each client that connected, so the server knows how many (and therefore if at all) clients are connected. If a client disconnects the server will remove it from it's list. If the client crashes the server removes it from its list the next time it pushes a message to all clients because it gets an exception for each client the is not connected anymore.

The add annotations field shows as not allowed in the security options. So how do I send this form back with the changes??

I think you you need to click 'save' first, then it is saved to acrobat, where it will prompt to send.

I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.

we're using Oracle apps 11.5.10 and we have the usual leading zero problem when exporting to Excel.
From what I've read, Excel uses the 'TypeGuessRows' registry setting to read through a specify number of rows to decide whether a column is numeric and then drops the leading zeros. I've also seen the proposed solution of putting a quote mark to trick Excel. We have a requirement to display the right numbers including leading zeroes in both PDF and Excel. So now I'm down to 2 choices.
1) create a separate template for PDF without the quote or my question
- Within a template, can you tell what the runtime output type is? Does the XML Publisher engine provide a way to obtain this value within a template?

and it still didn't work. The invoice number is alphanumeric an sometimes just contains numbers with leading zeroes which is what I'm testing with.
