Cancel Auto-Purge Job?

Is there a way to cancel an Auto-Purge job? The process is a background process MMON so I can't kill it using kill session.

I started with that note over a week ago. The cancel task worked for the shink task but the delete task I finally killed after 2 days because it had generated 33 gigs of undo and I couldn't tell when it might finish. (It was trying to remove over 30Gigs of data from wri$_adv_objects.)
I've been struggle with this problem for a while now and finally decided to just turn off loggin to wri$_adv_objects and its index and delete from the wri$_adv_objects (over 187 mil rows) where the task_id = 14128 (since that's the sql that was showing when I tried the dbms_advisor.delete_task) - this is the shrink task id that is taking up so much space.
That was going well yesterday (I had the delete statement in a loop deleting 100k rows at a time then committing). but then this auto-purge job kicked in last night and put a lock on wri$_adv_objects so I had to kill my little delete script. I can't restart my little delete script until this auto-purge job finishes, in the mean time it's generating redo at an enormous rate.

  • Job runs auto-purged without previous configuring

    Hi everyone.
I recently installed Grid Control with the new patch release 10.2.0.5 and created some sql jobs to take custom reports from target databases. I noticed that the runs get deleted automatically once they age 1 day.
I had another 10.2.0.4 installation in the past and that never seemed to happen, so without reading at the manual (I'm in a hurry) I'm starting to think that this is a new behaviour in 10.2.0.5.
Does anyone know how can i turn off or configure at will the auto-purge of 1 day old runs? The sql outputs have to remain there until someone deletes them manually in my case.
Thank you very much in advance!

    Hi and thanks.
It's helpful because that way I know that this is more of a display problem (24 hours) rather than a purge setting, but then, even that in turn will affect us after 30 days for what you say. There are two questions now instead of one:
How to change the 24 hour display time default setting for the simple search page?
How to control the purge time for all runs, given the logical neccessity of keeping the query results more than 30 days for whatever porpouse or policy we could have?

  • Not able to cancel the indexing job in BO Explorer.

Not able to cancel the indexing job in BO Explorer. When I clicked Cancel Indexing, Its still in processing mode. Please advise. Thanks!!

Thanks Henry. Actually Indexing server was down, So it was not getting cancelled. I restarted the Explorer services and it worked fine afterwards.
However, Could you please also let me know if there's any way in Explorer to show description of the Dimension/Measure Objects while exploring data in any information view.
I have defined the object's descriptions in my underlying universe and they are also while confirguring the information space. But I am not able to see the while exploring data.
Could you please advise on this. Thanks!!

  • How do I cancel a print job from my computer to my HP Photosmart 7510. Touchscreen is unavailable.

    HP Photosmart 7510 All-in-One CQ877a Model C3112; Operating system Windows Vista 64-bit.
Can't find how to easily cancel a print job. The touch screen is unavailable during the printing process (just shows the HP icon spinning around during the print process). There isn't a "cancel" button or touch area to cancel. We're wasting ink and paper by not being able to cancel jobs easily. Read the 24-page manual and it doesn't mention it. Looked on line for an answer, can't seem to locate one. Can always go to Start, Printers, and select the printer and then cancel from within there, but by then, the job is finished.

There should be a cancel button (X) on the printer. Check out the pic below taken from page 7 of the User manual for your printer:

Alternately, instead of going the Start button route, did you check out the Final tip at the bottom of the article?
    "Final Tip (Shortcut)
Before using the method above to open the print queue, look for the printer icon in the notification area. If you see it, double-click it to bring up the print queue. "

  • How to cancel a print job in progress

I have a HP C5580.  When i was using Windows ME on my former PC, I could easily go to Printers, select the 5580,  hit documents in queue, and hit cancel , and the printer stopped.
Got a new Compaq  PC with Windows 7, and I can't figure out how to cancel a print job  mid stream.  I go to Printers and Devices, giet the page that allows me to view the print jobs in queue, I hit "print job in process", but the "Cancel" is not in bold print and I can'tfind any other way to cancel the job.
    Help !

The easiest way to cancel a print job would be by pressing the cancle button on the front panel.  This is the "X" button near the right side of the control panel, see pages 10 and 11 of the user manual here.

  • I just upgraded and now can't cancel a print job.

The icon to delete is not there anymore. It was so easy to cancel. I'm trying to print a photo and it wanted to print on paper. That mistake will waste a lot of ink, so I want to cancel the job, but can't. Of course, I could unplug my printer, but obviously I don't want to have to do that every time I want to cancel a job. Help!

No it's not, that's the reason you should click the x if you want to cancel a print job. If is has already started, pausing it will pause a partially finished job. Subsequently canceling it may cause corrupted print output or a communications error the printer ought to handle.
If there is nothing in the print queue then the job has already been sent to the printer and your Mac is finished with it. In that case, use the printer's front panel control to cancel the job.

  • Unable to cancel a print job

I need to cancel a print job so other things behind it will print.  It still appears in the 'pending jobs' list and will not go away.  It says that it is 'deleting' but it's still there.  What can I do to get rid of it.?  Thank you.

    Hi,
From the Desktop, hold down the Windows key and press R.  Into the Run window, type services.msc and hit enter.
Browse down to the print spooler service, right click it and select Properties then click on the Stop button.
Now browse to C:\Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS and delete the job inside this folder - You may need to click a prompt to gain the appropriate authority to open the PRINTERS folder.
Restart the computer and you should find the job has been removed.

  • LMS 3.2 Syslog purge job failed.

We installed LMS 3.2 on windows server 2003 enterprise edition. RME version is 4.3.1. We have created daily syslog purge job from RME> Admin> Syslog> Set Purge Policy. This job failes with the following error.
"Drop table failed:SQL Anywhere Error -210: User 'DBA' has the row in 'SYSLOG_20100516' locked 8405 42W18
    [ Sat Jun 19  01:00:07 GMT+05:30 2010 ],ERROR,[main],Failed to purge syslogs"
After server restart job will again execute normally for few days.
Please check attached log file of specified job.
    Regards

The only reports of this problem in the past has been with two jobs being created during an upgrade.  This would not have been something you would have done yourself.  I suggest you open a TAC service request so database locking analysis can be done to find what process is keeping that table locked.

  • Auto Purging of Purchase Requisition

Does anyone has any experience in auto purging of incomplete purchase requisition? Currently it can be done manually but we would prefer to run a concurrent program to do it periodically. Any information will be appreciated.

I have seen a PO program called "Purge System-saved Requisitions" (POXSSPG, execution method is SQL*Plus) - may be you can analyze it for your custom concurrent program.

  • Mass deletion or cancellation of background Jobs.

    hi,
Can anybody tell me the program name or the Job name by which we can cancel or delete all the jobs i.e mass deletion or cancellation of background Jobs.

    Hi,
    One clarification:
BTCTRNS1 report/program suspends all Released jobs (not Scheduled status) and make the status 'Released/Suspended' - so that they will not run during your activity.
When you will run report/program BTCTRNS2 (using se38/sa38) it will release them again.
Note: You can not freeze/suspend jobs which are event triggered. You have to set them using sm37 (released -->scheduled) - option is available in the menu.
Jobs in scheduled status never run.
Don't release/submit any job after BTCTRNS1, the new job will run (it will not be suspended). Please instruct other user also not to submit any job further.
    Thanks,
    Subrata

Let me know if that answered your question.

You can only do it on a computer's iTunes (which doesn't need to be on your computer) or on an iOS device : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4098
