Cancelling Sky Talk Penalty Free

I switched to Sky from Virgin in December (tv, bb and landline) and from the off had issues with crackling down my telephone line which is at times so bad that I cant even hear the person on the other end of the conversation. Long story short since December I have had five engineers out to my house from BT openreach (sent by Sky) all of whom have decided that the issue is not in my house and all of whom have visited both the cab and the exchange and supposedly fixed the issue which has shortly returned. My question is this - Im not sure I can be bothered to have yet another engineer come out to do exactly the same as all the others and so will be looking at cancelling my Sky talk contract (but keeping my tv and bb). Now as Sky have ben unable to provide me with the service I have been paying for are they not in breach of the contract that I have signed and consequently I should be entitled to cancel with no termination fee or penalty?

    Hello there.
     I'll get straight to the point: I am cancelling my Sky talk and broadband service to go with BT.
     The problem is that BT takes over the line rental on the 24th of this month and today I recieved an email from Sky telling me that my SKY services will be cancelled on the 25th and it'll take upto ten working days for me to be removed from the service and to join BT.
     What am I suppose to do on the 24th when the BT engineer turns up to set my phone/broadband with them? I won't be able to connect to the internet because you need a BT line in order to have their BB...
     Am I just being stupid here?

This MAC is an alphanumeric code that allows the transfer of your broadband service between suppliers. A sample MAC is LZMR1234567/AB12C, and the one you are supplied should be of a similar format. Without this MAC, you'll be unable to sign up to a new provider such as ourselves.
    General Exclusions: If you have a Virgin Media cable broadband service, or you have a full Line Rental, Calls and Broadband bundle with a company like Sky, TalkTalk or Tiscali, then you will not be able to transfer to us using the standard procedure. The reason for this is because these providers move your line away from BT completely, and therefore to transfer to another broadband provider, you will need to move back to a BT-based line rental service."
    This is from another non BT provider which would indicate that there could be some problems. BT should have informed you about this ( I presume )
    Hopefully there won't be problems but you could try contacting BT to find out - this can be very hit or miss and I don't have a number for you sorry.

    At present I watch BT sport on channels 413 & 414 on the sky box with my Sky card.
    In a month's time how do I watch BT sport?
    Is it online or via my BT vision box and how do I transfer it from Sky?

    A cancelled sky subscription card 'reverts' to a free sat from sky card, which will enable you to watch BT Sport with that card on a sky card/box.
    Just like lots of people do, myself included.

    My phone line is down again.... I'm not prepared to phone on my mobile as I have just been informed that there is a 20 minute wait it's all good and well giving a contact number free of charge for sky talk customers but how are you supposed to access it if your phone line is not working could somebody please look into why my phone line has gone down again .     Try deleting the app, rebooting your iPhone and then installing the app again.

    Oh!! just stop using it and after 30 days, it will expire.  No need to to take any action.  It is free so anyway so why bother?
    They cannot start charging you because they don't have your credit card details.  They need to have your express permission to take out a full contract of 12 months.

  • Cancelling sky sports

    Hi everyone,
    I have tried 3 times now to cancel sky sports from my TV package without success.  The first call was several weeks ago when I spoke to some guy who seemed to be having trouble cancelling it immediately and said he would ring the technical department - I hung on for ages and eventually got cut off without him getting back to me.  Trusting that he would sort it out anyway I waited days but it didn't happen.  I tried emailing next (3 times), got a automated response but no proper reply.  Tried again by phone on 13th March - was told that it would be cancelled within an hour.  It didn't happen.  Tried again today by phone, again told the same thing.  Guess what?  Correct - it's still there.  I am a pensioner and I can't afford to have to pay for something I don't want.  I've read the other posts about losing ESPN as well - I hope this doesn't happen to me, if and when they finally manage to sort this out.  After all, it can't be rocket science .... can it?

    We went to bt.com/bbtalkcancel only to find it doesn't work and with an error message.
    All we want to do is cancel BB Talk we don't have an account for it as we never used it. It was part of the package we upgraded to last time.
    How can we cancel it on line we want to avoid hanging on the phone trying to get through to the right person as has happened in the past.

    I would gladly have paid the £3.50 a month to keep BB Talk as this would have far outweighed the hassle that I've had since losing it, not to mention the by now familiar quip "We tried to ring you but your phone wasnt working" 
    In that scenario, the product replacement for BB Talk [if that what it is] BT Smart Talk has been a non-player

  • Called to Cancel, was talked into a discount plan and now I'm being told the discount isn't applicable to the plan I just signed up for??

    On August 22nd I called to cancel my service being that my contract was over. My logic was simple. I really didn't use the phone enough to justify a $87/month payment.  The young lady on the phone was very nice and presented to me the $60 plan that is unlimited talk and text with standard data package. After I told her where I work now since my old employee discount had expired she pulled up the data and said "good news, your new company also has a 22% discount with Verizon".  After we did the math together she said that with the discount I'd be saving over $30 a month doing this plan with the employee discount.
    Everything has been great so far. I went out and upgraded my phone to a new Iphone 5C, paid the upgrade fee of $30 and the tax on the free phone. Now this month I go to pay my bill at its at $63.  I call and the rep tells me I was misinformed and that the $60 plan is a promotional plan and the employee discounts do not apply.
    I'm stuck now since its been over 30 days since I signed up for the plan.  The rep on the phone I spoke to today is very pleasant (his name was Kelley)  and has tried all options to help but no option helps me pay an extra 22% out of pocket for the next 2 years!
    I'm demanding that the 22% be honored in monthly or lump sum discounts. OR let me walk away like I wanted to do before without a any cancelation fees!  I've been with Verizon 9 years now and have always been loyal. Not sure this event will keep me around a minute longer than I have to be!
    Please help! Review the phone call from August 22nd and stand behind what your employee told the customer.....

  • BT charging for cancelled BB Talk

    I cancelled the BB Talk service in December 2013 and I have a confirmation email of the fact.
    In February BT charged me £3.50 for the service which was refunded after phoning to query it.
    The same charge has been on every bill since including the latest which went live today despite BT assuring me that the service has been removed from my account.
    I have made two phone calls and one live chat to try and resolve this (I have the transcript), but nobody seems to be capable of removing this incorrect charge/service.
    I have repeatedly tried to cancel it myself via the on-line link, but it just says it cannot continue with the cancellation, presumably because I do not have the service!
    I would be grateful if somebody can recommend a number to call where I'm likely to get some success sorting this out. The Indian call centre have been very, very poor and in one case very unprofessional. Live chat is obviously no better.
    At the moment I am faced with phoning each month to get a refund with no options to stop it happening again.

    Sky are sending out emails to customers who have not logged into their sky webmail account for a while so if you want to keep it then you do need to login but if like you you no longer wnat it then don't login again and then sometime over 5 months it will be gone !

    You should really have cancelled before you moved.
    SKy don't have any international numbers and neither do they have an email address so you'll have to hang in there with live chat.
    Regarding cancelling your direct debit you now have a problem as Sky wont accept a cancellation unless syou have a direct payment method set up to cover your final bill, and you will also have to give the required cancellation period which is at least 10 working days.

    Just got a new car with an AUX in - works for using iPod music when on AUX mode in the car. This is no problem. But as I am looking at various options for phone functions (handsfree) in the car, just wondering : although I have used the speakerphone from time to time without other connection, can I do the following : use the AUX in the car to get the voice of the person I am talking to, and just speak freely (as I would do in speaker-phone on the iPhone) so we both can have a clear conversation ?
    Which settings would I choose for that on the iPhone ? (I assume if I click speakerphone mode, this would not work with the AUX-out, or would it ?... Then what if I get a phone call (while in AUX mode in the car) while I play music in this mode (from iPhone of course) ?

    Yes that works, use the speakerphone mode. Some people report that the callers hear themselves via the car speakers and iPhone mic. It won't cost anything to try it and see if it meets your requirements.
