Cannot Add Playlists or Movies to New Nano-iTunes "Creates" a New Device

I just purchased a new Nano and I am trying to get it work with iTunes 7.4.1.2 properly. When I connected the Nano, it created a new playlist named after the name I gave the Nano. Everything that is added to this playlist syncs fine. However, when I try to add any other playlists through the Music tab for this device and then re-sync, I get two error messages - "The iPod cannot be synced. The required disc cannot be found" and "iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod."
When these error messages happen, I notice that there is a second Nano appearing under devices (I only own one). This second Nano only has a Summary tab but the serial number is the same as the primary Nano showing up under "Devices."
I have tried everything I can think of. I disconnected and reconnected. I restarted iTunes. I rebooted the computer. I tried Restoring the iPod as suggested. Nothing works and I keep ending up at this same point.
It will also not let me add any video content (Movies, TV) or podcasts, giving me the same error messages above. Photos does work when I set it up adding the folder I want when first connecting the Nano.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am running the latest version (7.4.1.2) on a Sony Vaio running Windows XP.

But will I lose all my contacts (the ones I've added recently) and apps.
If I go back to an older ID, I might lose all my recent stuff with the new ID?

Does anyone know why one cannot add playlists to folders in iphone 5. When I drag a playlist to a folder on my "Devices" on my iMac in itunes 10 it does not show up on my phone after it syncs. I should note that I currently have 3 folders with playlists which show up on my iphone but I believe these were generated when I first Automatically Synced Music before I switched to Manually Manage Music

You don't say where you are having problems. The best answer will depend upon what exactly you are trying to do. If you are trying to add one or two files, copy them to a flash drive, then drag them from the drive to an iTunes playlist. If you are trying to move your whole library that requires a different answer.
Note .wma files will work with iTunes on a PC but cannot be added to a Mac iTunes. Convert them to another format on the PC first (but I don't think you can do that if they are protected format).

In attempting to solve these problems I have gone to settings-phone-upgrade and it states that the upgrade is available-select to continue-(which I do)- it checks -please wait and it then states that update not available - try later.

For specifically fixing the Bluetooth, un-pair your phone with the car, and go through the process of repairing the two.
In general, the KK update requires many of us (different phones) to perform a Factory Data Reset after we back up our personal content (pictures, music, movies, or other downloaded files) to a PC or MAC. This will result in you having to do a bit of work to setup icons for the programs you use, and maybe putting in the specifics again for email accounts and other specialized apps. So if you are going to do this sort of thing... copy important information/settings down on paper.

That's easy, while connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. If your iPod shows up ok in iTunes you can change it to manual from there.

Cannot add playlist to Ipod

Whenever I try to add my playlist from my computer to my ipod, the crossed out circle appears, and I cannot add it. I found that when I go to my Ipod, the bar that shows how much space is left has a lock next to it. Does this mean anything?

It is in Autosync.
Select the iPod in iTunes.
Click on the music tab.
Select the playlists you want to put onto the iPod.
When you wanto add/delete music from the iPod, just do it from these playlists and then sync the iPod.

Ok so basically, I cannot add songs to my library. I cannot add songs to a playlist either. Evertyime I try to drag songs from a folder to my library, nothing happens. It was working fine yesterday, but now it isn't. I have tried logging back in and out of iTunes, shutting down my PC and trying again, etc. I searched google and here and it wasn't really a problem. I have tried installing and unistalling iTunes also. So, any help?

Go to iTunes menu EDIT > PREFERENCES > ADVANCED Tab
you may find iTunes Media file Location box is blank(sometimes this happens after an update).
If that is the case, click the change button and link it to your iTunes Media Folder as follows:
Win 7 C:\Users\<username>\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media
WinXP C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media

Cannot add playlist to device even though it is authorized

I have been trying to move a playlist to my iPhone, but get a message: "Some of the Audible files in the iTunes library were not copied to the iPhone “Kate's iPhone” because you are not authorized to play them on this computer." I try to authorize the device, but get the message that it is already authorized. Thanks for any help you can give me.

How did you move/copy the library to the new computer? You might try launching iTunes with the Option key down, then navigate to the location of the library when prompted.

Cannot hear or view movies on New iMac

I bought a new iMac, I cannot watch old or new films on it. Just a black screen with no audio or picture, though if I look through chapters I can see a screen shot mini version of what should be on my screen. Please help, its very annoying. Can I also mention that it still airplays the movie onto my apple tv?????

Cannot add bootcamp partition to my new HD in MacBook Pro (4,1)!!

Hi Folks,
I used to be able to add a partition to my boot drive from either BootCamp or Disk Utility but since I've installed my new HD, Bootcamp Asst informs me that my software is not up-to-date and Disk Utility has the options greyed out!!
Anyone have any ideas how i can sort this out..?

Well, after some head scratching i thought about where my problem started and it turns out that i had to re-restore from my SuperDuper clone (which i'd done in the first place)! There must have been a problem the first time i restored!
I booted from an external HD, reformatted and restored from my clone. All is now good.
Thanks for the firmware advice. Seems I might also need to do this too.

[SOLVED] Cannot Add Files to Existing Briefcases; New Briefcases OK

I have a user - probably the only user I can recall ever using this feature - that is unable to add files to existing briefcases.
When attempting to drag & drop a file into a briefcase (any) a small window or pop-up appears & disappears and the file isn't present. The pop-up displays and hides all too fast for us to see what was written as it happened well under a second.
The problem seems specific to the existing briefcases:
If the user creates a new briefcase, and copies the files from the old briefcase into the new, just like above nothing actually gets copied into the new briefcase.
If the user copies the files from the old briefcase into their desktop, then copies the files from the desktop into the new briefcase, it works fine.
So the current fauxlution (faux+solution) is to go through the latter process, but they have a few dozen briefcases and that's going to take some time.
To be quite candid, I'm not entirely sure where to begin - how does one go about fixing a broken briefcase?

Sorry but I'm afraid to say that with limited information, it's somewhat hard to find out what exactly happened. What is the result when copying from a new briefcase to another new briefcase directly? Are there anything recorded in the event viewer?
Might be helpful for troubleshooting.
Since we're unable to reproduce this issue, I recommend you use process monitor to trace the process when copying the files form old to new briefcase.

Cannot add previously owned movies to ipod

i purchased an ipod, and wish to add movies i previously own to it...i clicked the movies icon under library, clicked "add file" selected the movie, and yet it wont add...it's not giving any kind of error code, nor is it adding...it adds a couple music videos, but will NOT add the files to the actual ipod...i purchased the 160 gig model to have ample space for videos AND music...but it refuses to add any of my videos...any suggestions??

Same problem here - is there any way you can manually manage podcasts on your ipod? I listen to a language-learning podcast and I only want the current lesson stored on my ipod, instead of the whole series, which i like to keep on my imac for reference. Anybody have a solution?

I've got a new iPhone 5 and when I set it up, I created a new Apple ID.
I managed to copy across all my contacts, pictures and all the stuff that was on my old iPhone 4 - apart from the music.
Now it turns out that I have two Apple IDs.
If I try and create a playlist on my iPhone - I can't. I click on 'manually manage music and videos' and I get this message: The iPhone “Nigel Pengelly’s iPhone” is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library?
So if I sync I lose all my new contacts etc?
How can I create new playlists without erasing my iPhone?

Cannot "Add" or "See" movies in my Library

Hope someone can help, I am trying to add movies to my Library, I can see it "Processing Files" when I drag them in, but not showing up at all.
Someone suggested I check under "Home Movies" but don't see an option for this or know how to find it? All I can see is the below, can anyone help please.

I have the entire original Star Trek series on the computer, all tested, watched and working fine. They are all MPEG-4 video files, and I can watch them on multiple computers and TVs when pulling directly from my network. They are labeled "Star Trek Episode 15 Shore Leave" and so on. Before I went out of town I loaded episodes 1-12 onto my iPad to watch while traveling. Again, they played fine. When I returned I had only watched the first three, so when I resynced my iPad I removed those three (episodes 1-3) and put on some other movies. Tonight when I went to watch them on the Apple TV I find that those three specific episodes are missing from the Apple TV list, so the ST episodes start with #4. Just kind of weird. These episodes are all the same version, done at the same time, the same way, no differences between them, even in size. Must can't figure out what is keeping them off of the list but it seems to be more than just coincidence that the three I notice missing are ones that I just removed from my iPad.
Also as to the iOS version you are correct, my typo, should be 10.7.5.
Thanks for the help and just to clarify I checked with one of my purchased movies as well as the manual ones and two do not show up, both again removed with the last sync. But they are still in the library! Can't figure it.
