Cannot connect to broadband

Hi
I have a BT home hub 2 and have a lot of trouble connecting my laptop or phone to the wireless. Even when I have connected I get the limited connection message. Could any one help me to improve the connection?
Regards.
Alan

Try resetting the hub back to factory settings using recessed button on the back. Also you can try downloading inssider3 (istumbler if MAC) and then run it. This will show the broadcasting networks round about you and their channels including your own. If you then enter your router and change your wireless channel to a free or less congested channel.
inssider3.1.2.1
if neither helps then phone CS and complain that your hh2 wifi is not working and well known problem and as long as in contract they will organise a replacement

  • Cannot connect to broadband with new modem

    Hello
Had to upgrade my setup with a new router and a new modem.
The modem is a TP-link 8817 and I have followed the instructions to set it up.
All went through fine and I can see the ADSL status as 'showtime' and can see the sync rate fine too.
What I cannot see is the ip address, dns and gateway field populated. The status of the line is "Down"
I am connecting using PPoA VC MUX using a MTU of 1400 with VPI 0 and VCI 38. Frankly I cannot see what I am doing wrong.
I have got FON on the line which is not disconnected yet, would that be an issue?
    THanks

    Cheers!
Yes, you normally need a password, otherwise many routers simply do not authenticate.

    Connect by ethernet or wireless?
Did you start with a factory reset of the TC.. you must as the TC remembers too much from the last setup.

  • TOSHIBA f3507g cannot connect to 3G mobile broadband ( error code 0)

This is really a strange situation. Yesterday, I installed the lastest 3GRF POWER UTILITY and 3G F3507g drivers then inserted the 3G sim, my laptop could connect to internet (HSPA) normally but today when I download and install the lastest WIRELESS MANAGER software in other to check data and send sms but now my laptop cannot connect to 3G network although laptop still find the 3G signal. I also tested to send sms to my phone and it working but connect to 3G internet is impossible. I have tried to uninstall all the 3G driver and reinstall again but it not work. When I cheking troubleshooting, it said that " the mobile broadband network connection operation failed with error 0". I am using win7 and get the 3G driver from [http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/] . Plz help me, thank you a lot !

In DUN, I give it a try and the error says: "The PPP link control protocol was terminated" when registering to internet.
In win7 connection manager, it 's in the same problem like WIRELESSS MANAGER

  • Why i cannot connect to celcom broadband

why i cannot use celcom broadband to surf the internet when using macbook pro?

Is it a pre-June 8, 2009 MacBook Pro, or a 17" MacBook Pro?  If not, you'll need either a USB adapter, or the ability to teather to your phone supporting Celcom to get data transfer.  Macs do not include cellphone wireless receivers.   Only the iPad has this in the 3G model.  If you have a 17" MacBook Pro, or a pre-June 8, 2009 MacBook pro you can use an Express/34 adapter card for your cellular network.   I'm assuming of course Celcom only uses cellular networks.
Your other option is if Celcom has a MiFi adapter for its network, or offers a WiFi or ethernet based adapter.

  • Macbook Pro Cannot Connect to SMTP

I am running a 2010 MacBook Pro with OS X 10.6.8.  I use Mac Mail app to send and receive e-mail.  Since Thursday 27th Dec 2012 I have been unable to send e-mail.  I get the grey spinning wheel until the following error message appears:
The SMTP connection to server “mail.(mydomain).co.uk” failed.
My outgoing mail server is currently showing as offline.  In fact I have 2 e-mail accounts and both are showing as offline.  No problem receiving mail.  Connection doctor connects fine to incoming mail, but not outgoing.
I have tried the following (plus other things) without any success:
Checked all the details, passwords etc
Changed ports from 25 to 465 and 587
Checked my IP address - it is not blacklisted
    Removed and re-added e-mail account
Telnet port 25 - it is not blocked, but appeared to successfully connect (from what I understood from checking www)
    Temporarily disabled firewall
    Re-installed Mac app
    Rebuilt mailbox
    Repaired disk permissions
    Used the repair disk utility
Deselected SSL and changed various options within "Edit SMTP server list"
    Reset the keychain
Tried updating software but it says no update available.
Re-instated an old Accounts.plist (and one other file which I forget, something like com.apple.mail) from time capsule.
I then set up a hotmail account on Mail app but had exactly the same problem, ie cannot connect with SMTP server.
However, I set up my e-mail account on my wife's iPad with the same details and there was no problem at all, e-mail sent just fine as it does from my iPhone.  So the issue has to be with my Macbook, right?  Can anyone help before I go and spent £1250 on a new Macbook?  I'm sure I'm missing something obvious.  Thanks in advance for any advice.

Just FYI, I've had the same problem for months now. I have been accessing my hotmail via the web, but decided to try the OS X Mail app.  I could get emails into the account with no problem but couldn't send.  I read all the blog and support entries and have tried everything they recommended, like changing my computer name to one word, without success.  Then last night, it just so happened that my broadband provider had to change out my wireless modem.  As soon as he plugged in the new one, some emails that had been in my outbasket for a month went through instantly and all of a sudden my Mail, both incoming and outgoing now work.  So I think people need to look at their router settings for the a solution to the problem.

  • Cannot connect IBM Thinkpad to Linksys Router Wirelessly

I recently moved in with a friend, and my IBM Thinkpad T42, with Windows XP, cannot connect to her Linksys WRT120N router wirelessly. I am able to connect to the internet using an Ethernet cable, and I am able to connect to other public wireless networks.
I have been told by Cisco helpdesk people that it is because Windows XP does not support WPA2 security, and/or that because they don't know much about IBM computers, I should get rid of the third party internet connection software, IBM Access Connections, that came with my computer.
I have been having this problem for a week, and I did not even know I had IBM Access Connections until today, so I don't think that's the problem. Also, my friend has been using that application successfully on her computer, Thinkpad T61, Windows XP, to connect to this router, which she has been using for 2 years. So with two almost identical computers, does anybody know why my wireless connection isn't working?

Answer these questions, I may be able to give you the right solution to your issue:
    1. Go to your Network Connections folder on your wired computer and check which one is connected:
    a. Local Area Connection
    b. Broadband Connection
    c. 1394 Connection
    2. What is the IP address of your computer?
    3. Who is your internet service provider?
    4. What is the error message when you connect the wireless computer to the network?

  • When i click on itunes on my ipad2 i get the error ..'cannot connect to itunes store'...i'm able to access podcasts and itunesU but not itunes store. This is very strange as i can access app's store

when i click on itunes on my ipad2 i get the error ..'cannot connect to itunes'...I'm able to access podcasts and itunes U but not itunes store..my apps store and safari are also working perfectly but don't know whats the issue with i tunes store...i use an airtel broadband connection through a wifi router..pls help

I was having this problem. The settings on my wireless router was set to hide my IP address so it wouldn't connect. When I changed that, I connected no problem. While this is annoying since I don't want my IP address to be out there, I just switch my router when I need to connect to the App/iTunes Store. Hope this helps. It worked for me.

  • 'Cannot connect to the Music Store'

Apologies for previously posting this problem in someone else's thread.
I seem to be having a similar problem to a lot of people. I bought a new computer about a year ago, my iPod and iTunes work fine, and I was previously able to use the Music Store on my old computer. However, when I try to connect to it now, it says 'Error - cannot connect you to the music store. Check your internet connection is active and try again'.
I have the internet connected whenever I try this, I think I understand how firewalls work as I have tried to find the problem (and failed!) but didn't want to do anything without checking it first.
When I insert a CD to import into my library, the 'Gracenote' thing doesn't give me the names of the tracks. Similarly, it says to check my internet connection is active. My computer meets all of the requirements for iTunes mentioned on the Apple site, I have broadband and use Windows.
Any assistance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Dell   Windows XP

    Any other ideas?
hmmmm. i'm getting over to the "using itunes music store" forum more frequently these days, but i'm not as good at some of the subtler problems as some of the people who spend more time there. if you don't get many more replies here, try reposting over in that forum. it would help provide context if you put a link in that post back to this thread. there's instructions in here:

  • Odd Intermittent Browser "Cannot Connect" to Sakai

    Hello All,
This one has really stumped the professor...
In short, the problem is that there is one site hosting Sakai for the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) that I, and only I, have intermittent problems connecting to. By that I mean, just me out of hundreds of people currently, and thousands of people over history.
The host is http://www.longsight.com/ and the system is Sakai.
I am using an Airport Simultaneous Dual-Band 7.5.2, an iMac and Macbook Pro both using 10.6.7, Earthlink as the ISP using PPPoE, and a ZyXEL P-600 Series DSL modem, and FireFox 4.0.
Everything has worked without a hitch for years. The only website I have issue with is sakai.ohsu.edu, hosted by LongSight.
The intermittent problem is that FireFox reports it cannot connect to the site when I navigate. When I refresh, it seems to usually refresh fine.
Same problem with Safari and Chrome.
Same problem with both the iMac and the MacBook Pro.
Same problem with an Ethernet cable connected directly to the back of the Airport to either.
Does not seem to be a problem with the modem connected directly to either computer (intermittent, remember, so I am not 100% certain, but I have not gotten it to happen).
The LongSite host provider sees nothing odd in the logs.
If I click the Try Again that FireFox puts up, I get logged out of Sakai and have to log back in. If I instead just refresh in FireFox, the page seems to load.
Q: Is there a "tolerance" setting that would prevent this problem from happening?
Q: Is there anything to ask the host to do? Setting to check?

When its just one web page - you can access other web pages like Google or Apple - the problem is the Intenet connection between you and the server hosting the web page you want.
Nothing to do with your local equipment or connection.  There are local settings you could set or have changed that would prevent connecting to a specific web site, I'm going to assume that is not the case since you don't mention fiddling with the HOSTS file (for example).
If the server that hosts that page is not "down" or over-loaded then the problem most likley lies with your ISP's network.
To try and get a glimmer of what is wrong, open your Applications/Utilities folder and run "Network Utility".  Click on the TRACEROUTE tab and enter the host name for the page you want.
For example, the Sakai page address is "http://www.longsight.com/longsight/sakai".  The name of the server hosting that page is "www.longsight.com".  I put that into the TRACEROUTE field, and press the TRACE button.
What happens next is your computer attempts to figure out exaclty HOW all data between you and the target server are exchanged.  The internet is like a spider web, and at each junction there is a computer that handles (aka routes) traffic.
For your web page attempts to work, you need a reliable "route" to the server that hosts the web page you want.  This utility will generate a list of all the internet nodes and networks your request has to travel through.  The list should end with the target server in under 15-20 "hops".  If the list is much longer - or if it keeps going and going - then you have a DNS routing problem.  Or rather, your ISP has one.
Because the Internet is flexible, extensible, and self-healiing routing problems should go away on their own - it might take a day or two.  But shoddy maintenance or configuration of network equipment can create routing problems that don't go away until fixed.
Another problem I have seen is intentional filtering or mis-directing of requests from a certain provider or geropgrahic region.  For example, a NYC based company offered a contest only for local residents, so they had thier ISP filter-out all connection attempts coming from outside of NYC.  Very sneaky.
Another example would be companies trying to prevent access to Facebook.  They setup their network to drop any requests for that name or address - or re-direct to a corporate Internet use policy web page!
For reference, here is my TRACEROUTE report for this server:

As you can see, my route to the server is only 11 hops.
    Another test is PING:

PING shows that it takes less than 70 milli-seconds for my computer to talk to the server hosting that page.  That is very fast.  If you get very large (>5000 ms) PING times then there is a good chance your web browser will "give up" before the data comes back.
In such cases, what your doing (press REFRESH or otherwise try again) is the best wqy to recover.

  • Cannot connect to iTunes and  YouTube

I'm using iPad4, suddenly I cannot go to App Store and YouTube! I can't even use FaceTime, Facebook! The App Store shows 'cannot connect to iTunes' , YouTube shows 'load error', FaceTime and Facebook all shows account password wrong, but I'm sure right!  What should I do!

I think you need to sort out your router or internet connection. Have you gone into your settings and checked that the wifi connection is up. or where it says 'iPad' in the top left hand corner, does it have the wifi symbol with how much signal. If all this fails ring apple, go into a apple store, or ring your broadband provider

  • Time capsule cannot connect to internet

    Hi,
I had just purchase the time capusle(the model they have in stores now) and am trying to use my time capsule as my wifi router but failed.
Here's how it works now, internet-->modem--(LAN)-->Buffalo routerWZR-HP-G302H--(LAN)-->Time Capsule
and how I want it to work internet-->modem--(LAN)-->Time Capsule
When I connect the time capsule directly to the modem, and had setup the timecapsule, the airport utility shows that I am not connected to the internet so I checked from my system preference-->network, it says I am connected to wifi. The Airport Utility still shows that I am not connected to internet, orange/amber light for internet and flashing orange/amber light for time capsule.
At first, airport utility says time capsule has internet connection problem and DNS server and the other problem that I cannot remember, but in the end I fix the other two problem and now there's only one left, that is the internet connection. I am not able to connect to the internet no matter how many time I use the system preference-->network and use "Assist Me" to fix the internet connection, which usually works but not this time. I also try it on my ipods, iphones and ipads and they all cannot connect to the internet through wifi but when I connect the LAN to my computer it works perfectly.
Can anyone help me with this probelm? Why can't it connect to the internet?
    Thanks in advance

There is some extra info I need.
What modem.. make and model..?? What kind of broadband?
How is the Buffalo setup? Is it router or bridged and if router is it using pppoe?
There is nothing wrong with keeping the buffalo .. it is a very reasonable router.. and just use the TC in bridge plugged into it..
I have to confess I really dislike the airport utility v6 in Mountain Lion.. it is a kiddie toy version of the real v5 utility. Half your problems relate to the near to useless nature of the utility.
Can you install 5.6 and then we can get somewhere.
    Here is howto..
How to load 5.6 into ML.
    1. Download 5.6 for Lion.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.
    2. Download and install unpkg.
    http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Run unpkg on the desktop.. it is very simple.. drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. drill down.. applications utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall 6.1 so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. so just ignore the toyland version.. the plastic hammer.. and start using 5.6.. a real tool.

  • New Thinkpad W530 order direct from Lenovo with integrated mobile will not connect to broadband

I purchased a W530 with integrated mobile and have been trying to connect with various networks to no avail. I have a Type 2436-CTO S/N xxxxxxx 13/08 and Windows 8 came installed when I received. I have upgraded BIOS and everything that Lenovo solutions says I need to update.
The MEID is A1xxxxxxxxxxx. It came with an integrated Sierra Wireless MC8355-Gobi 3000 modem. I have downloaded an updated driver for Windows 8 for the MC8355. I have spoken with almost every Lenovo technical person as well as taken the computer to various network stores and so far no one can figure out why it won't connect to Verizon.
Verizon says I'm active and the computer error message says I am not active. Every tech has tried to look at the system by logging into my computer and no one can figure it out. The device manager says the MC8355 is working. Interesting when it was shipped to me it also had an AT&T sim card installed. After I had signed up with AT&T and one mo of paying for service they determined it would not work on their network. Finally someone told me to take the AT&T sim card out and it still will not connect.
Verizon tells me I do not need a sim card as I have the MC8355 but they can't tell me why I can't connect. Now I've paid for Verizon service for one month and still cannot connect. Everything else works fine with the W530. I've owned ThinkPads exclusively since the first one ever came out. I've never not been able to connect to mobile broadband with any others. I also went through about two weeks of trying to connect with Lenovo Mobile Access and that did not work because I'm running Windows 8. Finally a nice gentleman called me from LMA to tell me it will not work after all the time of connecting and being on the road. I could go back to an old ThinkPad to travel with but I'm determined to get my new one to connect. Any more advice or anything anyone can tell me try?

    Hi All:
I tried to install and work with Archlinux today but was not successful at all.
I downloaded the ISO image of archlinux and burnt it to a CD (Archlinux-i686-2007.05-Duke). I tried to install the distro to my Compaq presario 700AP laptop (AMD Duron/128 MB RAM) Installation went smoothly and then the problems began. I coud not get networking to work. Here are the contents of the /etc/rc.conf file (networking section only given here):
    <--- contents of /etc/rc.conf ------------->

    nameserver 208.67.220.220
    search opendns.com
I typed opendns.com since I have these dns addresses from opendns.
    <-------------
When I ping my nameserver (208.67.222.222), it puts out several lines of messages like:
    64 bytes from 208.67.222.222: icmp_seq=55 ttl=252 time=284 ms
Likewise, when I ping default gateway, I get several lines of messages like:
    64 bytes from 192.168.1.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=128 time=1.62 ms
Yet I cannot ping google (http://www.google.com), and the error message is: "unknown host", nor can I use pacman to update packages from online repositories.
What am I doing wrong? I have followed the networking guidelines and installation guidelines from the websites.
Do I reinstall archlinux? I am lost.
    Best wishes,

Thanks for the advice, but I still am not successful and I cannot figure out why.
    Dear All:
Thanks for all your responses, but I still cannot connect to the Internet and this is a strange problem.
I use a broadband connection, provided by India's BSNL broadband service, using an external modem (Huawei Corporation; SmartAx MT882). The internet service has provided me the following information:
    IP Address: 192.168.1.10
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default gateway: 192.168.1.1
    DNS servers: 218.248.255.145
    DNS server(2): 61.1.96.71
In addition, I use opendns and the dns server names are:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
Here are the contents of my /etc/rc.conf (networking section):
    HOSTNAME="maurine"
    Io="Io 127.0.0.1"
    eth0="eth0 192.168.1.10 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.1.255"
    INTERFACES=(Io eth0)
    gateway="default gw 192.168.1.1"
    ROUTES=(gateway)
    Contents of my /etc/resolv.conf
    search maurine.com
    nameserver 218.248.255.145
    nameserver 61.1.96.71
    nameserver 208.67.222.222
    nameserver 208.67.220.220
If I try using pppoe -I eth0, it waits for some time and then returns a message "timeout waiting for PADO packets"
If I "try /etc/rc.d/adsl start", it returns [FAIL] after some time.
This has never been a problem with my ubuntu or windows installations before, I could easily connect to the web.
What should I do to make sure I can connect to the Internet?
When I ping 192.168.1.1, it takes me to my modem page and from there, when I run the diagnostics, it returns everything ok.
Where may be the problem and what do I need to do to resolve this problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    Arin Basu

  • Cannot connect ipad mini 2 to TP link extender

The extender is syncd with PC with sky broadband and boosts signal around house (works well) but Ipad cannot connect to TP link and defaults to the PC Router and does not recognise TP link

I feel you should become more specific in what you like to do with the HDD / HDD contents.
Do you like to use iTunes on the iPad to access media files on the HDD?
Do you want to use another media player (like VLC) to access media files? DLNA?
Do you want o share data files through the HDD?
I assume you already connected the HDD to the USB port of your wireless router and enabled sharing for the HDD (most routers allow to enable DLNA or other NAS functions for USB attached HDDs)?
