Cannot create a proper working JAR file

Hie,
Im facing a problem here to compile the JAR files. I went through the JAR tutorials at the java site but i cant still figure it out. MY problem is actually i need to create a JAR file that consist 3 folders and subfolders.
The main folder is --> classes
sub main1--> emmeeting
submain2-->image
submain3-->jwc
But, in this jwc it contains another two folders and there is another 3 folders inside those subfolders.
jwc ---> contains jwc 1 and jwc 2 as subfolder
jwc1 contains jjwc1. jjwc2 and jjwc 3
those filenames are examples only.
i used the command jar cvf classes.jar classes * class
and
even jar cf classes.jar -C emeeting. -C images . -C jcw
as these command will invoke every file inside it and create a jar but i still fail
When i click the jar that is created it says this error "Fail to load Main-Class Manifest attribute"...i went through the manifest and they say have to set up the main-class : classname .....so, which classname shud i use and plz tell me the best way to solve this .thanks

The main classname should be the path of the class which contains your static "main" method.
/mypackage/MyClassWithMainInIt

Tim

    The problem is with tar'ing HUM-Reports in /opt/CSCOpx/MDC/tomcat/webapps/upm/reports, and with reaching
    tarfile-size of 2,9GByte error is thrown.

    Hi Joe,
    thanks for your feedback.
    These files to be tarred aren't there directly after backup stops with error.
    It seems that some process stores data about reports in that file and when trying to
    pack these reports via tar they are delete by any cleanup method.
    Does this help.
    P.S. Backup usually takes about more than 1hour

  • Are JDev autogenerated paths needed to create ear, war and jar files ?

    Hi
    We want to create ear, war and jar files from Ant build script generated from JDeveloper 11.1.1.7.
    We also like to use ojdeploy with it.
    In the process of creating build.xml files from projects, we see these paths.
    We also have standalone Weblogic installed with ADF runtime 11.1.1.7
    Questions:
    1- Do we need these path ids to generate ear, jar, war files properly and then deploy the ear to our standalone Weblogic so that our webapp can run ok ?
    2- Why are they generated, if they are not needed
    From research, it appears that we don't need these paths except to keep ant targets of init, compile, exec etc with ojdeploy.
    3- Is that true ?
    We are afraid that because no paths are listed in the build.xml, then when we deploy the ear app, it cant use the ADF runtime on the standalone WLS.
    Thanks in advance for answering.

    There are two different things here. Using ant to build the class files and then building an ear from the class files and other resources.
    The building part needs the libraries if you use javac as compiler. Building an ear file only needs the path to the jar files which are packed into the ear.
    In this sense you need the pages you see in the build.xml.
    Then Jdev offers another way: ojdeploy. This tool is a Jdev without a gui.
    You can use this tool and build the classes for each project of a workspace and to build build war and ear file. This is just like you click the rebuild button for each project and then the deploy the projects and application. If you use this approach you don't need the generated path ids as the whole build process is done inside Jdev as it's done on your developer pc.

  • Getting error "Cannot create a BACPAC from a file that does not contain exported data." from SqlManagementClient.Dac.ImportAsync

    We're trying to import a dacpac to azure via the new SqlManagementClient DacOperations ImportAsync api I get an exception with the error: "Cannot create a BACPAC from a file that does not contain exported data."
    This same dacpac imports fine using an alternate but less friendly API from sql server's tooling. We'd like to use the new management SDK instead for various reasons.

  • LMS Backup - Cannot create or back up tar file

    Hello,
    We have LMS 3.2 installed and the backup is failing with the following message
    "Cannot create or back up tar file. Backup cancelled. Verify that you have write-access to this directory."
    I have removed Cygwin and also the set the backup to offline yet the same result. Please assist on this issue.
    Thanks.

    Hi Dedra,
    I will not give you as much help as Joseph, but will provide you an idea for possible problem explanation.
    Just following your sentence:
    I removed all traces of mentioned line but still the same problem.  Backup failed with the following message. I have noticed that all these  backup fail after writing 4GB of data into the backup directory.
    Are you sure you don't generate any file bigger than 4GB on a FAT32 file system support, which cannot be possible (external USB storage) ?
    It could be the reason for such a error message returned from your tar.exe process....
    D:/CiscoWorks_Backup/0/upm/filebackup.tarC:\PROGRA~1\CSCOpx\bin\tar.exe:  Write error: No space left on device would be the error message returned code from this situation oversizing file maximum size.
    Any simple solution would be to format your USB storage to NTFS or change backup destination to NTFS partition somewhere else for test and eliminate this supposition.

  • How to create a proper ePub Zip file on the Mac

    I need to zip my iBook content with two critical requirements:
    1) the first file must be the "mimetype" file (my ZipIt utility wants to reorder files, alpha, by name, rather than retaining the order that files are added into the archive).
    2) that first file must NOT be compressed; the remaining files are to be compressed.
    I did find one discussion on the web that says that the Applescript below will do it ... but I don't know applescript syntax and when I tried to create a script file it did not like anything that I substituted between the quotes.
    =============================
    zip -X0 "full path to new epub file" mimetype
    and
    zip -rDX9 "full path to new epub file" * -x "*.DS_Store" -x mimetype
    =============================
    Thanks in advance!!

    Apple did eliminate them, yes, but the Mac OS (and most apps) still support the use of fonts that are contained in font suitcases. These include fonts such as Garamond, Lucida Sans, and Handwriting Dakota.
    What I'm not sure of, however, is the ability of iOS on the iPad to handle fonts suitcases. Likewise, I have a feeling that the EPUB standard would frown upon .epub files that contain resource forks.  Such files may (untested) work on Apple devices, but would almost assuredly trip up other eReaders.
    The most likely solution to the problem I've encountered is to extract the font data from the resource forks and create new data fork only files that contain the fonts I wish to use.

  • How to create and use library JAR files with command-line tools?

    Development Tools -> General Questions:
    I am trying to figure out how to put utility classes into JAR files and then compile and run applications against those JAR files using the command-line javac, jar, and java tools. I am using jdk1.7.0_17 on Debian GNU/Linux 6.0.7.
    I have posted a simple example with one utility class, one console application class, and a Makefile:
    http://holgerdanske.com/users/dpchrist/java/examples/jar-20130520-2134.tar.gz
    Here is a console session:
    2013-05-20 21:39:01 dpchrist@desktop ~/sandbox/java/jar
    $ cat src/com/example/util/Hello.java
    package com.example.util;
    public class Hello {
        public static void hello(String arg) {
         System.out.println("hello, " + arg);
    2013-05-20 21:39:12 dpchrist@desktop ~/sandbox/java/jar
    $ cat src/com/example/hello/HelloConsole.java
    package com.example.hello;
    import static com.example.util.Hello.hello;
    public class HelloConsole {
        public static void main(String [] args) {
         hello("world!");
    2013-05-20 21:39:21 dpchrist@desktop ~/sandbox/java/jar
    $ make
    rm -f hello
    find . -name '*.class' -delete
    javac src/com/example/util/Hello.java
    javac -cp src src/com/example/hello/HelloConsole.java
    echo "java -cp src com.example.hello.HelloConsole" > hello
    chmod +x hello
    2013-05-20 21:39:28 dpchrist@desktop ~/sandbox/java/jar
    $ ./hello
    hello, world!I believe I am looking for:
    1. Command-line invocation of "jar" to put the utility class bytecode file (Hello.class) into a JAR?
    2. Command-line invocation of "javac" to compile the application (HelloConsole.java) against the JAR file?
    3. Command-line invocation of "java" to run the application (HelloConsole.class) against the JAR file?
    I already know how t compile the utility class file.
    Any suggestions?
    TIA,
    David

    I finally figured it out:
    1. All name spaces must match -- identifiers, packages, file system, JAR contents, etc..
    2. Tools must be invoked from specific working directories with specific option arguments, all according to the project name space.
    My key discovery was that if the code says
    import com.example.util.Hello;then the JAR must contain
    com/example/util/Hello.classand I must invoke the compiler and interpreter with an -classpath argument that is the full path to the JAR file
    -classpath ext/com/example/util.jarThe code is here:
    http://holgerdanske.com/users/dpchrist/java/examples/jar-20130525-1301.tar.gz
    Here is a console session that demonstrates building and running the code two ways:
    1. Compiling the utility class into bytecode, compiling the application class against the utility bytecode, and running the application bytecode against the utility bytecode.
    2. Putting the (previously compiled) utility bytecode into a JAR and running the application bytecode against the JAR. (Note that recompiling the application against the JAR was unnecessary.)
    (If you don't know Make, understand that the working directory is reset to the initial working directory prior to each and every command issued by Make):
    2013-05-25 14:02:47 dpchrist@desktop ~/sandbox/java/jar
    $ cat apps/com/example/hello/Console.java
    package com.example.hello;
    import com.example.util.Hello;
    public class Console {
        public static void main(String [] args) {
         Hello.hello("world!");
    2013-05-25 14:02:55 dpchrist@desktop ~/sandbox/java/jar
    $ cat libs/com/example/util/Hello.java
    package com.example.util;
    public class Hello {
        public static void hello(String arg) {
         System.out.println("hello, " + arg);
    2013-05-25 14:03:03 dpchrist@desktop ~/sandbox/java/jar

  • Using Frame 9, Acrobat 9.5, suddenly cannot create pdf. The ps file is empty, and the process results in unresolved cross-refs. Have updated w/o success.

    I've beenusing the Tech Comm Suite with Frame 9 and Acrobat 9.5 for years, and suddenly cannot create a pdf of a frame doc. The ps file is empty. This is happening to a colleague using the same suite across the country. Any suggestions? Please help!

    OK, that's pretty plain vanilla. Assuming you've already checked the Adobe
    Updates web page to ensure that both applications are fully patched....
    The thing that jumps out from your procedure is that you don't seem to have
    the Acrobat printer set as the system default because you're selecting it.
    So I'd make that change. And you may want to then reboot, to make sure it
    sticks.
    The second thing I'd do is eliminate your Step 1, because if you don't
    select Print To File and do that dance, if the Acrobat Printer is selected
    (as it should be if it's the system default), Acrobat will create the PS
    file and distill it automatically, then delete the temp files -- that's
    what it's designed to do. (This would also make Step 2 and 3 unnecessary,
    because Acrobat is your system default printer now.)
    Probably no harm in forcing it into manual mode as you're doing, except the
    extra time and keystrokes, but I'd try the other path just to see what
    happens.
    Are you getting any error messages in the Frame Console window?

  • How to create a deployable ejb(.jar file) when we use Oracle application sever?

    Hi,
    In case if we use Weblogic we give following command on console to create a deployable ejb, while weblogic.jar is in classpath.
    java weblogic.ejbc temp.jar StudentBean.jar
    1)What are the classes or jar files we have to set in classpath,
    2)What console based command(like what I mentioned above for weblogic) can we use,
    so that we can create a deployable jar file in case if we are using Oracle application server.
    thanks,
    Milind

    You can discover the origins of a loaded class programatically. You want to print:
    TheClass.class.getProtectionDomain().getCodeSource().getLocation().toString();

  • MBeanMaker is not creating Schema folder in JAR file for custom authenticat

    I have created a custom authentication provider.I am using following code of build.xml to generate jar file for custom authentication provider
    <target name="build.mdf" depends="copyConfigFiles">
    <java classname="weblogic.management.commo.WebLogicMBeanMaker" fork="true" failonerror="true">
    <jvmarg line="-Dfiles=./build/mili -DMDF=./build/mili/MILIAuthenticator.xml -DcreateStubs=true"/>

    Build.xml is running fine without giving any error,but it is not generating schema folder in the jar file.
    beacause of that my custom authentication provider is not comming in admin console.
    Kindly help me to resolve this.

    Hi Ramesh,
    Try out the following
    1) Copy mediator.jar from SOA_HOME>/soa/modules/oracle.soa.mediator_11.1.1 to <MW_HOME>//soa/modules/oracle.soa.ext_11.1.1/classes
    2) Goto <MW_HOME>//soa/modules/oracle.soa.ext_11.1.1/classes and run the following command:
    a. jar -xvf mediator.jar
    3) Now remove the jar file, i.e., mediator.jar from classes folder.
    4) Restart the server.

    Srijith

  • Cannot get HDR to work with files from Canon 40D

    Hello,
    I have read various tutorials and the forum and there seem to be a number of things that have to be just right to get the Automate Merge to HDR Pro to work.
    I obtain the images on a tripod using a timer and auto expose a stop bracket.  I understand white balance setting may be a problem...
    But no matter what I do I get a merged file with very bight colors essentially all over.
    I have trief JPEG and TIFF conversions from RAW.
    Any ideas/checklist?  THis is CS5, completely updated.
    Thanks

    It sounds like BT's hardware may have a firewall that's blocking more than it should.

    is the printer/scanner listing from Apple.
    Use this link: http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1398 to get the latest Epson drivers if your printer/scanner is compatible.
    If it isn't, here are some alternatives from my macmaps page:
    Epson, alternate Australian site may have more up-to-date drivers for Epson, Epson RIP and colormatching drivers from iProof Systems, Guten-Print (formerly known as Gimp-print), and Printfab. http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/

  • Create javadoc of a jar file

    Hello everyone,
    I am using the oracle.cabo.ui library to build up and manage a site. But I am trying to get the javadoc of oracle.cabo.ui. I can't seem to find any online. Can someone please tell me if the know where to get it?? If no one has it, is it possible to generate the javadoc of the oracle.cabo.ui with JDeveloper??
    With kind regards,
    john

    Hi John,
    I think this is what you want:
    In jdev, select menu item "Help"/"Help Topics"; click on the "Contents" tab; expand "Reference"; double-click on "UIX Reference"; click on the "oracle.cabo.ui" package link.
    Later.
    Dennis

  • Please Help! .jar file don't work.

    Hi, I've written a swing program that works fine when run from command prompt but it doesn't work when I create a self executable jar file and run it.
    Here's the generated classes after compiling the source file:
    TheGMailClient.class (main class)
    TheGMailClient$1.class
    MailSender.class
    MyAuthenticator.class
    I also have a GIF image file.
    Here's what written in the manifest file:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Created-By: 1.4.2_05 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
    Main-Class: TheGMailClient
    I've created the jar file with the following command:
    jar cvfm TheGMailClient.jar MANIFEST.MF -C classfiles .And here's the exceptions shown after running the jar file (I've run the jar file from command prompt using the java -jar command to view the exceptions):
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/mail/MessagingException

            at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.run(Unknown Source)It seems to me that some classes are not found. How can I overcome this problem? Please help me guys! I'm really stuck in here.

    The error is occuring because the jar ignores the system classpath.
    You need to set your classpath in the manifest file to find the external jars.
    Otherwise the external jars will not be found.
    In your case class javax/mail/MessagingException
    For example:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Created-By: 1.4.2_05 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
    Main-Class: TheGMailClient
    Class-Path: . jars/mail.jar jars/activation.jar
    The path will need to be correct in the above related to your system.
    Also because you mention a gif image.
    You will need to add the image to the jar - you haven't.
    make sure you are loading the GIF image file in a manner that can be used from a jar.
    Image image = null;
    try {
      image = ImageIO.read(getCkass().getResource("logo.gif"));
    catch {
      // what ever
    }You may need a relative path to the image in the jar depending on where the gif is.
    For example image = ImageIO.read(getCkass().getResource("images/test.gif"));
