They already damaged you Mac by fooling with the BootCamp partition without knowing what they were doing. I wouldn't suggest haveing them help you do anything.

First, see if you can boot into the Recovery HD. Restart and hold down cmd-r until you see the gray screen. It should boot into Recovery. If your Mac shipped with Lion or Mountain Lion, it will boot into Internet Recovery if it cannot boot into the Recovery HD on the hard drive.
They should have tried this at the store.

Geek Squad saved my music, but now when i try listening to a playlist, 19 out of 23 songs cannot be found. the message states the song couldn't be used because the original file could not be found. I;m then asked if i want to locate it. WHen I choose Yes, it just takes me back to my iTunes.

Thanks!Depending on how the Geek Squad recovered your data the files may not be quite where iTunes expects to find them. The usual reason for missing files is that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes.
When you get things fixed make a backup.

Does iCloud backup the operating system? and how do I back up the operating system.
I have heard you can backup the operating system on iCloud. I have not been able to find documentation on how to backup the operating system. thanks mknmemries54

You cannot use iCloud to back up your computer.
Can I suggest you get yourself an external hard drive and start using Time Machine or another back up utility. Data loss is often sudden and unexpected and far too late to do anything about in many cases. -
I updated firefox to the newest version and it wouldn't work (something about the proxy server) so I stupidly tried to fix it by using the restore program. I then realized that the old firefox was uninstalled when I downloaded the new updated version and now I have no way to get on the internet at home. Some very nice people told me I could download firefox to a disc or zip drive and then install it on my computer at home. I couldn't save the stupid thing, it just installed itself on the computer. I know this is a ridiculous request, but could someone please, please, please give me a step by step? It would really be appreciated.
Lindsey, go to the web page that cor-el refers to in his/her reply. You will find a grid with all of the different languages that FF comes in.
Select "english (US)" and click on the "download" link for your operating system. You will go to another page where it states that your download will begin automatically.
You should then see a message box come up and ask if you want to save the file. Click on "Save File" and save it to whatever device you are using to transfer it to the other PC.
Take the device with the file and plug it into the other computer. Using "My Computer," navigate to the device and double-click on the file. It will then start the FF installation process. Follow the on-screen directions from there. The file is about 8.2Mb so allow yourself enough space on your device.
I hope this little note will get you where you want to go, but remember; "No matter where you go............there you are." -

The icon of Youtube is not after the update the operating system

can you help me?The YouTube app is not included with iOS 6. Google offers their own app for free via the iTunes Store, though they do not yet have an iPad version. The iPhone version will work, though not at the full screen size. There are probably also third-party alternatives, one of which may suit you better.

Oh ok, well that was what the test said prior to reformatting the hard drive. Now, it doesn't find any trouble no matter how many times I run it. That's what has me so confused, everything seems to check out and yet...I can't do anything, not even install the software!

OS X won't start, time to clean up the hard drive and re-install?
OS 9.2.2 is running on the machine, but OS X will not start -- I get as far as the gray screen with the pinwheel, or the blue screen, or the blue screen with the Mac OS X window with nothing in it. I ran DiskWarrior, Disk Utilities, and did an archive and install. I plan to go through the various steps at this link

Assuming those do not work, can anybody help me (via link or instructions) with a step-by-step walk-through to
1. backup data and other necessaries to a Cobra external hard drive (can I drag and drop, or do I need to run a program?)
2. erase, inititialize and/or reformat the internal hard drive so that it's fresh and clean (might as well be thorough about this) and
3. reinstall both operating systems, with settings and preferences intact, if possible. I have all OS 9 and Panther disks.

According to the instructions, "Apple Software Restore will completely erase the contents of your hard disk or disk partition."
If you don't care about the applications that came with the iBook (such as AppleWorks), then you can do an Erase and Install with Panther instead of taking the longer route.
I would advise you not to drag and drop applications, but to install them from the original software discs or downloads so that you are using an installer application to install. An installer places the bits and pieces of an application where they need to be, and dragging and dropping does not always work.
This Apple Knowledge Base article suggests "Reinstall additional software one item at a time, restarting the computer after each install. For best results, use the computer for several hours after each installation to determine if that particular software contributed to the issue. Reinstalling everything at once without noting when the issue returned may lead to a need to repeat this process." -

I dont want all my stuff back, just photos and music, the rest I'll reinstall my self. I also dont have a exteranl harddrive. only two USB's one 2 GB and the other 8 GB. How do I do this? I got a flashing folder with a question mark. I got a new hard drive and upgraded to 4 gigs and can't open anything or reload the operating system? Help? FYI: I have been using boot camp with windows 7 and started getting a kernal_data_Page_error and it would reboot windows, i was trying to do a chkdsk on the next reboot, but thats when i started getting this issue. I have put in a new hard drive and went from 2 gigs to 4. I can not get the computer to do anything, even the monitor does not show anything now????
Prep your new drive:
Drive Preparation
1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (for Intel Macs) or APM (for PPC Macs,) then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
After formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Install OS X. -
I had downloaded OS X Mountain Lion and had to replace my hard drive. Now when I try to download it only wants to upgrade since I show that I previously purchased it. What can I do to get the operating system back
I'm unclear on what the problem is. Have you installed a system on the new hard drive, and if so, what system? Had you actually installed Mountain Lion previously, or only downloaded it? And what does "it only wants to upgrade" mean? Have you actually got Mountain Lion already installed? (See About This Mac in the Apple menu.)
All Macs that shipped with Lion or newer are capable of internet recovery in situations like this. Just hold down command-R and it should start in recovery mode over the internet if necessary. You can reinstall the system from there. If you had Mountain Lion, I would assume that Mountain Lion would be the system you would get reinstalling that way. -
Why is my hard drive full when I'm only running the operating system and nothing else is loaded? No music, pics, nothing! I understand the hard drive is small at 60 gig, but I can't believe the os would take up that much space.
First, empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB free on the startup volume for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of your data. Use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. Proceed further only if the problem hasn't been solved. ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To really see everything, you have to run it as root. Back up all data now. Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways: ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.) ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens. ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid. After installing ODS in the Applications folder, drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. When you're done with it, quit it and also quit Terminal. -

That is usually an indication that the Volume was never Erased or Partitioned for GUID partition table and Mac OS, and is still in a Windows format.
Mac OS X Extended (journaled) has no such file-size limitations -
i have deleted my private folder and do not have enough space to reinstall my operating system. Connect the computer to another Mac and put it in FireWire Target Disk mode, or use the Disk Utility to clone the drive or image specific folders with the USB drive as the target. After you've copied off everything you want, you'll likely need to erase the drive and reinstall the applications.
