Cannot create notes in Apple Mail: Assertion failure, exception thrown
If I choose File > New Note, nothing happens. The console log displays the attached messages. What could be causing this?

A final weird follow-up: the “Note font" part of the Fonts & Colours preference panel wasn't visible before. In other words, if the wrong font is selected, you don't have the option to change it or even to know which fund could be corrupted.

Hi,
My company uses Office 365 for hosted Exchange email. We have 1 user who uses Apple Mail on OSX 10.7 to connect to the server in Exchange mode (using EWS). This was working great until a few days ago where he has sporadic connection problems. Reproducable situation below:
1) Select 100 emails in any given folder
2) Drag/drop those emails into another folder to move them there
3) They will start moving but it will fail at somepoint and give the message "Cannot execute move operation".
4) After that message appears it is usually several minutes before he can try again or send any emails.
5) Trying to send an email immediately after the error message results in the "Cannot send message using the server" dialog where you are prompted to select a different server to send the message. Choosing an SMTP server results in the message being sent but sometimes (and only sometimes) the message is resent a couple of hours later through the exchange system.
We are getting a million of the following assertion failure messages in the console:

We have tried deleting the account and making a new one. As well as removing the mailbox folder (~/Library/Mail/V2/EWS-*) and the Apple Mail plist file. We have also setup the email on a different Mac (also OSX 10.7) but we still get the same assertion failure message.
This user's email account works fine in Outlook on Windows and Mac (Outlook 2010 and 2011) and it also works fine through the online web portal. Outlook 2011 Mac uses EWS (the same protocol Apple Mail uses) and it's not throwing any errors and everything works properly so that is leading me to believe it's an issue with Apple Mail.
Perhaps related, perhaps not, but the user's iPhone and iPad have also stopped working properly with the account. They will sometimes connect but a lot of the time they give an error message about not being able to connect to the server. This leads us to believe it's an exchange server problem, but then why does it work in Outlook and the online portal without any problems? It's only the Apple products that are falling apart.I ended up having to reproduce the problem in Outlook 2011 Mac before O365 support would help me. Apparently Apple Mail isn't one of the officially supported clients so they weren't going to figure it out for me. Once they ran out of ideas they just gave me the "Apple Mail is officially supported" excuse and stopped helping me.
Although we weren't initially having the problem in Outlook 2011 Mac it did start giving tons of errors during certain operations (with a -19907 error code) after a while. Not sure why it started doing that ... but it did. This was only happening with one of our user's accounts so it had to be something server-side that was the problem. I eventually got a support ticket in their system (despite being a P1 plan holder) so that they could call me. We did some Wireshark capturing to try to diagnose the problem but by that time the problem had fixed itself. -
I use Apple Mail and dislike Outlook. If I create a note in Apple Mail, move it to my desktop for easy access and then open the note, it opens in Outlook. How do I stop Outlook from opening? Do I need to uninstall Outlook? Will it disrupt other software?
Open Apple Mail, and open Preferences (under Mail in the Menu Bar). On the General tab, check the "Default Email Reader" and set it to Mail (6.6).

Cannot add Gmail to Apple Mail in Mavericks
I cannot add Gmail to Apple Mail in Mavericks. I have tried adding it as a Google account AND as an "other" account. I have tried manually filling in the settings, using the instructions from Gmail's website:
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - Requires SSL

Not receiving apple mail. Checked connection Doctor. Not connected to server, yet receiving gmail and yahoo mail.
No, I have a Mac and my email connects via our pacbell account we've had for years. However, something in the Preferences/Accounts is not correct I am guessing. Also, it asks for the password and if I put it in and click save through general or viewing, it's NOT saving it and still not allowing me to get email. My husband tried reading about this through our AT&T acct and said to change the incoming server to imap.mail.yahoo.com and outgoing smtp.mail.yahoo;[email protected], but now I can't receive or send any email on my Mac. In advanced not sure if it should be Port of 465 or 900 something or other and SSL checked or not. I called AT&T and they want to take over my machine by charging $15/mos for a year to fix this. Ridiculous.
So, everytime prior to yesterday, when my husband messed around with it, I was getting a POP needs password box, typed in my password, but to no avail..Then it Keychain password popped up and assumed it was the same, but there's no way to change or modify it even using the new password my husband set up through AT&T. I am at a complete loss.
I can access mail through yahoo mail and it takes me to AT&T Yahoo Mail, but no contacts are there so needless to say this is a pain.
I appreciate any assistance you can give me so I can get back on my email as I have for 4 years.

How to get notes from Apple Mail to iPad Notes?

I can not seem to find any way to get notes from Apple Mail on my Mac to Notes on my iPad.
What the heck do I have to do?
There is no Notes sync option in iTunes.
Also, I can not sign in to MobileMe in my System Preferences. It alway says the member name or passowrd is wrong. How do I find out what my member name is? I only know my Apple ID which is an email addres, and that does not work. I am able to sign into MobileMe on my iPad.
HelpOn your phone. If you have Notes turned to On in Settings>iCloud, and also had notes on the phone prior to turning on this setting, you should have two accounts in the notes app: On My iPhone and iCloud (listed as your iCloud ID).
Did you have notes on your phone prior to turn on Notes in Settings>iCloud? Is Notes turned to On in Settings>iCloud now? -
MarkSpace Fliq notes import to iPhone Notes and Apple Mail Notes – how to
A while ago I used MarkSpace for Palm one time only to put all my Palm T5 notes, todo, calendar, etc. into iCal and MarkSpace Notebook. This worked fine.
Now after using MarkSpace Fliq Notes I want to stop using that and use Apple Mail’s Notes instead.
To import the MarkSpace Fliq Notes into Apple Mail’s Notes I have to import them one by one according to MarkSpace technical support. I tried this and it works fine. However, I have thousands of notes.
I presume I could make an Automator or Applescript that will do this for me.
But I have never used these functions.
Would someone(s) be kind enough to tell me how to do this in simple terms and list the actual “code” in this forum topic?I have MobileMe, .Mac to me, and thought it would sync everything through there but alas it doesn't.
This is what I had to do...
On the iPhone, sync it your iTunes on your Mac via the wire. Since I have everything sync (Contacts, Bookmarks, etc) through MobileMe and don't want duplicates I don't usually sync anything but Music/Movies through the wire sync. Once your device shows up in iTunes, click on it and under one of the tabs (I think it is the second one and right now I am away from my Mac using Windooze) towards the bottom it asks to sync Notes. Don't go the advanced section below that because there is a Notes checkbox there but I did not click on that. Force a sync. You will notice that your Notes in Mail and now on iPhone match. Half way there.
Now "eject" your iPhone and plug in your iPad. Do basically everything from above, I just have it sync the Notes on the second tab as I don't want duplicates. On I force the Sync, all of the notes on the iPhone/iMac/iPad where all the same! I just wish Notes would sync through MobileMe! It would make it SOOOOOOO MUCH EASIER. ARE YOU LISTENING APPLE!!! Now if you have Notes on your iPad you want on the iPhone, you are going to have to go back and re-sync again with your iPhone.
Let me know if that does or doesn't help, later when I amd at my Mac I will post what exactly tab and section. I spent most of yesterday trying to find an solution and this was the best I could come up with. I found a lot of Notes articles on the iPhone and syncing; none said MobileMe would do it. Kind of ***** as we pay a lot of MobileMe! -
Cannot create Notes in mail.app
I have tried several times creating notes... even basic ones in normal text as well as Rich Text.
I click on the Done button and they don't appear in my Mail.
I have tried saving in Gmail, MobileMe and On My Mac...
same problem -- its not showing on Mail...I'm getting the same problem. No answers yet.

Iphone4 will not sync notes to Apple Mail
Notes created in Apple Mail will sync to the iPhone. I've tried "On My iPhone"and my gmail account as the default account in the iPhone settings. In Mail, Contacts, Calendars settings Notes is not an option to activate in POP (Verizon) email accounts although gmail does. iTunes Devices > Info > Other > Sync Notes box is checked.
What am I missing?I read the Apple Support document you linked and verified the correct settings on both phone and Apple Mail. Since gmail was the only iPhone mail account with an option to turn on/off notes, the gmail account was added to the MBP Mail app. Now it syncs both ways. It seems POP servers will not perform two way sync.
I find it curious I am channeled towards Google for sync functionality with calendars and mail even after giving MobileMe a go three times.

Cannot setup exchange with apple mail
Here is the situation. I am trying to setup apple mail to the exchange system at work. When I enter the password (which I know is correct), I get the following error message:
Logging in to the Exchange server “mail.bus.msu.edu” failed. Make sure the user name and password you entered are correct, then click Continue. If the information isn’t correct, you cannot receive messages.
Consequently, I cannot access the mail system.
I have been able to setup my other various mail accounts but this one persists in not working? Any suggestions.Is the autodiscover information properly set up? Generally this should "just work" automatically if stuff is set up properly on the Exchange side. You may need to check the setup instructions for your educational institution and contact them if the autodiscover records are incorrectly set up.

Create a rule on mail delivery failure

Is it possible to create a rule in the Groupwise client, that when a message bounce back (mail delivery failure) from our relay provider, that the email will be forwarded to an internal recipient.
At the moment I cant get it to work. Moving that bounced email to a folder in Groupwise does work.Originally Posted by laurabuckley

I've tested the above rule and it works perfectly on my GW8.0.2HP2 system with GW8.0.2HP3 client.

I have a very similar issue to this. If I have a bounce back, I want to have that email address extracted to another doc... can be anything... TXT file, Word, Excel.... just something where I can maintain bad emails. Any Ideas anyone? -
GMail IMAP All Mail does not match Apple Mail
I have a GMail account that I also access via Apple Mail setup as IMAP. I've been trying to delete some emails from this GMail account. I first did the delete in Apple Mail (AM) but somehow the deleted emails would show up a few minutes later. So next I did the delete directly on the web based GMail account. After I got done, the emails seemed to have been deleted on my GMail account. At this time I had ~11,000 items in the GMail All Mail folder.
But when I looked at AM, the IMAP Gmail All Mail has over 21,000 items which includes all of the items I had deleted from GMail.
I tried deleting the IMAP account all together and made sure that the GMail IMAP folders in the Library was removed. Then I recreated the IMAP account in AM and within about 30 minutes, all of the 21,000 items including the emails that no longer exists in the web based GMail account came back.
I like the convenience of having access to All Mail in my AM but it seems I don't have control over the contents. Can anyone explain what is going on and how I might be able to actually delete the files within AM?cymorrow wrote:

I don't keep them in both places, after I have read the message and have responded, I delete the message from my AM inbox because I know a backup already exists in All Mail.
this is up to you and you can do as you like but this is the long way to do it and you'll be fighting gmail as you are if you keep using it. it's much simpler IMO to keep messages you don't want to delete in your inbox. as it is you do download every message twice even if you delete one copy afterward.
I want to clean out all of the junk mail that gets kept by GMail in All Mail and that is why I am trying to delete these items.
that's just it. there is no easy way to do it. All Mail is the master mailbox for everything you ever received. gmail wants to keep all of them forever and they are hard to get rid of.
I seem to have deleted them from the web GMail but they keep showing back up in the AM All Mail. That must mean GMail is still keeping these "deleted" items somehow/somewhere so that when I create a new IMAP account, AM is downloading them again.
I suspect you haven't emptied trash in webmail gmail. -
Suddenly I'm getting an alert that my inbox isn't connecting with several accounts. This just happened today. My mail is, in fact, downloading. Checking the connection doctor my SMTP accounts are working explaining why I'm getting/sending messages. But the 2 google POP accounts show connection failure. When I open my accounts list, the accounts that ARE connecting are not listed (SMTP). What gives and how can I clear the connection error and get the Doctor and Accounts list to be consistent with one another?

How do I print all of my "notes" in Apple Mail?
I have a couple of hundred notes and I would like to print all of them out so I have a hard copy. Is there a way to print all of the notes together or do I have to open each one and print them out individually? I have tried to copy and paste after selecting all of the documents but that doesn't seem to work. Is there a way to export the whole list of notes? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
select all notes in Mail and go to file menu->save as. save it as an rtf file and print it.
