Cannot display remote X apps

Question

Solaris 10 10/08 on a Sunblade 1500; xhost + <remote host>; ssh <remote host, Solaris 9> & log in ; setenv DISPLAY <sunblade 1500 host>;
When we test /usr/openwin/bin/xclock app, it says cannot open display. This sunblade won't let ANY remote X apps display.
This works fine on otherr Solaris 10 installs on Sunblade 1500s, including mine
Same problem with CDE when we test.
Any ideas? Debugging suggestions?

First of all, you should really be doing:
% ssh -X <remotehost> /usr/openwin/bin/xclock
The -X does all the display forwarding for you, no need to mess with xhost (which is inherently somewhat insecure) or setenv DISPLAY.
As for the error, what does:
% svccfg -s x11-server listprop options/tcp_listen
tell you? If it says the value is false, you'll have to set it to true with:
% svccfg -s x11-server setprop options/tcp_listen = true
You might have to restart the X server afterwards.
